Early Works - Far Beyond
Far beyond I see a sky of blue,
still further beyond I see
mountain peaks covered in mist.
Just beyond the sky of blue
and mountain, peaks covered in mist
lies a sun setting peacefully.
As the sun sets
it colours the sky
lighting the mountains
like a roman candle
and far beyond these burning mountains
the sun rests its head peacefully
as the day come to a close.

Makarora
Rocky peaks of Makarora in the summer wear their snow
And down the lush green grassy valley the clear mountain river flow
Songbirds piping in the beechwoods songthrush, bellbird and
redpoll
This a place of peace and beauty Makarora has a soul.
These great mountains look no different than to when the first man came
They have a wild rugged beauty for want of a better name
To the coming generations these high peaks will look the same
Man will not build houses on them man such wildness could not tame.
Summer's come to Makarora and along with her brought her green
Beauty to compare with any with the finest I have seen
This place would inspire an artist peaks in summer white
with snow
Beechwoods and through lush green valley sparkling mountain river flow.
Those high peaks of makarora will not change as years go by
Out there on those rugged mountains bones of Maori hunter lie
Still these mountains keep their secrets monarchs of the higher ground
Overlooking Makarora and the woodlands all around
Snow clad peaks of Makarora reaching upwards towards the sky
I am just a passing stranger and I'll be bidding you goodbye
But I will take with me the memories of beauty I have seen
today
Woodlands in a lush green valley by those mountains far away

That Is What A Kept Faith Does
After one has become accustomed,
To experience repeated attempts to reach peaks...
From cloud covered and mist strewn valleys,
Of course there is going to be some bragging...
When that brightness of a peak is reached.
Regardless of one's scars and bruised knees.
Or the pettiness of distant voices heard.
One's repeated attempts to reach peaks,
Develops a capability...
To even ignore pain.
That is what a kept faith does!
Especially if one is devoted and focused,
To accomplish heights,
That appear to beckon those who dare.

Then There Are The Mountains
On a mountain's peak is there peace?
Mountains that overlook the quiet prairie.
Mountains that borders life in rural counties.
Mountains chiseled by years of wind and rain.
Mountain winds creep keeping all secrets.
Mountains a kin to the lower hills of death.
Mountains at the height of glamour baked in sunshine.
Mountains that reach for more majestic planes.
Mountains giving to the ridges, valleys and cliffs.
Mountains in spring the fulfillment of adventure and dream.
Mountains which can shelter one from storm.
Mountains an enduring symbol in poetry.
Mountains which inhabit the calls of the wild.
Mountains of spectacle, below the bending roads between.
Mountains embracing, magnifying the sounds of river.
Mountains the stellar monuments of time.

The witch of Hex River
According to legend
a beautiful girl
Eliza Meiring stayed
on the farm Buffelskraal
at the foot
of the mountains
and so many suitors
were interested in her
that she would only
be the girlfriend of the man
that brought her a red disa flower.
These ground orchids
only grow on the highest peaks
and it was extremely difficult
to get the flower.
The few guys that tried
quickly got discouraged
but Frans whom she really loved
climbed up Groothoek ravine
against a wet moss covered cliff
and there fell to his death.
Eliza was deranged
when she heard the news
and was kept by her parents
in the loft of their house
where she notched Eliza Meiring 1868
onto the wooden windowsill
and one night
she got the top window open,
went down to the ground,
wearing her long white night gown
and climbed the foot hills
and sat down crying on a rock
which suddenly crumbled beneath her
and she also fell to her death.
It is said
that when the first winter snow
falls on that mountains
and the moon rises
glittering on them
her spirit dwells
on the mountain peaks
and that she still mourns
the death of her lover.

Butterfly
(clarke / hicks / nash)
We met on the shore of a lemonade lake.
Weeping willows looked down where we lay.
Orange blossoms I smell in your hair.
Butterfly, flutter by, butterfly by.
Waterfalls send your ripples to us
Here on the shore of the lemonade lake.
Pond lilies play hide and seek with the fish.
Rabbit run, run rabbit, rabbit run by.
Roaring mountain is standing close by,
Covered with snowdrops and glistening with dew.
I hear the sound of a small hummingbird.
I took your hand and I waltzed off with you.
Come to the top of the mountain with me.
Jump on a cloud and well float to and fro.
Seeing the countryside covered with grass
And the top of the mountain with candy-floss and snow.
Butterfly lazily drinking the sun,
Lavishly sprinkled and painted with gold.
Here in the land of the mist and the lake,
Me and my true love will never grow old.

Madness Your Name Oblivion Your Fame
You’re the king of the tribes asleep in the tomb
Plethora of darkness and lights of the womb
Your memory will cast but cast to whom
Madness your name oblivion your fame
Until the dawns rise up to the sky
All unheard of nameless painfully cry
In flames of passion that peacefully die
Madness your name oblivion your fame
The mountain peaks into mountains crash
Cracking rocks roll and bottom smash
Black earth devoured black earth ash
Madness your name oblivion your fame
Till you become heart piercing flash

The Mountain Like A Lion
Windsor Seep was dry and covered
with pine cones and dirt; on hands and knees
I could never have extracted water
there for my barren tongue to lap.
The saddle, with deer plentiful
as pests, huddles my tent and me;
where I saw the spinning stars
against the towering twin peaks.
My boots were wired to my feet,
kicked by rocks and prickly pear,
whose fruit I'd had to eat
for the juice bound by a thousand neddles there.
Then, another night.
The winds of autumn howled down the peaks
like javelinas,
yet the mountain itself was a lion,
Looking me between the eyes,
then pouncing.

Waves
I saw a tiny God
Sitting
Under a bright blue umbrella
That had white tassels
And forked ribs of gold.
Below him His little world
Lay open to the sun.
The shadow of His hat
Lay upon a city.
When he stretched forth His hand
A lake became a dark tremble.
When he kicked up His foot
It became night in the mountain passes.
But thou art small!
There are gods far greater than thou.
They rise and fall,
The tumbling gods of the sea.
Can thy heart heave such sighs,
Such hollow savage cries,
Such windy breath,
Such groaning death?
And can thy arm enfold
The old,
The cold,
The changeless dreadful places
Where the herds
Of horned sea-monsters
And the screaming birds
Gather together?
From those silent men
That lie in the pen
Of our pearly prisons,
Canst thou hunt thy prey?
Like us canst thou stay
Awaiting thine hour,
And then rise like a tower
And crash and shatter?
There are neither trees nor bushes
In my country,
Said the tiny God.
But there are streams
And waterfalls
And mountain-peaks
Covered with lovely weed.
There are little shores and safe harbours,
Caves for cool and plains for sun and wind.
Lovely is the sound of the rivers,
Lovely the flashing brightness
Of the lovely peaks.
I am content.
But Thy kingdom is small,
Said the God of the Sea.
Thy kingdom shall fall;
I shall not let thee be.
Thou art proud!
With a loud
Pealing of laughter,
He rose and covered
The tiny God's land
With the tip of his hand,
With the curl of his fingers:
And after--
The tiny God
Began to cry

Helderberg Mountain
Outside the first rays fall
on one of the pinnacles
of Helderberg
and I look at the peaks
that disappears gigantic into the height.
In winter
there’s snow on the mountain
and at times
it looks grey and dark
of coldness
through the winter rain.
Today there’s something majestic
the picture
that the mountain
make with the long hot summer day.
There’s the smell of turpentine
while I walk through the rows of trees
and from the top
the Strand and Gordonsbay
lies picture perfect
with the sapphire blue sea
as a backdrop.

The Mountain
Oh the majesty I see in the sky,
a far distance from I
rises up in granduer high
reaching the clouds by and by.
Sometimes I look. It's covered with snow
It is then that I know
where the fierce winds do blow,
making my heart overflow.
Sometimes I look and it's so clear
in the colorful blue atmosphere.
It appears as an altar to revere,
allowing my senses to endear.
Sometimes I look and cannot see
this beautiful formation of majesty.
It's surrounded by mist and fog. I plea
for God's mountain, hidden from me
to appear once again.

Like Mountains Lying Far Away And Blue
Like mountains lying far away and blue
love stays constant; it does not become common,
it leaves impressions in the great remembrance
and of this there is something between you and me;
I can never gaze enough at you.
Like mountains lying far away and blue
of which the presence never fades
there is something that looks like true love,
it leaves impressions in the great remembrance
that clings to every other thought,
.as something that does not want to parish.
Like mountains lying far away and blue
your humanity stays eternally true to me,
your face is continually covered with a ray of sun,
it leaves impressions in the great remembrance
and even when your tears shines like drops of dew
our love does stay eternally glamorous,
like mountains lying far away and blue
it leaves impressions in the great remembrance.

Unchanging Changeability
The mountains are cold and blue now.
The sun has set and darkness falls.
Although the faintest afterglow
The brightness of the day recalls.
I wait and watch the stars appear
Above the mountains silhouettes.
Though far away they seem so near.
Every night when the sun sets.
I take the opportunity.
To watch the mountains turning blue
Considering the infinity
That's represented by the view.
Which nature has afforded me.
Epitome of constancy.

Durango Mountain Caballero
This song was first released on the rocky mountain holiday album. it is the only album it has been released on.
You know I love the trail Im on
And the friends who ride with me
The country that were passing through
Is a paradise to see
A haven for my spirit
The homeland of my dreams
My heart flies through the wilderness
And on an eagles wings
And oh I love the waterfall
And the way the river sings
From snowcapped peaks both proud and tall
Through forests deep and green
The highway of the mountains
The lifeblood of the land
I can hear my mother speak to me
And hold my fathers hand
Durango mountain caballero
Take me for a ride
On the backbone of this mighty land
The continental divide
To the place where earth and heaven meet
The mountains and the sky
In the heart of colorado
Rocky mountain high
And oh I love the campfire
And the circle that Im in
The stories and the laughter
They should never ever end
Forever in my memory
Forever in my song
On a san juan mountain trail ride
Ill carry you along

The Fate Of The Black Bird
the black bird flies alone against the blue sky
it is lonely and that is the truth that lies in every black feather of its strong wings
if only it can change its course
and find a place where there are other black birds like it
perhaps it will turn back and learn to sing the song of the black flock
it is not a way of life that its father had handed to it upon its beak and claws
it is not even a choice and never did it ever imagine that it shall be alone against the blue skies
against the black nights and against the towering peaks of mountains
there is no other way of rationalizing about it except fate,
it is the destiny that chose its path and it is simply following the dictates of the stars.

If HE is Not Now Here, HE is Nowhere!
Wandering here and there,
Searching for beloved,
On moutain peaks,
Nature looks beautiful with green forest and meadows covered by veil of fog and mist!
Forest and meadows full of life
Looking at the mountain peak,
standing in meadow the cloud of mist,
covering it now!
For one spiritual minded,
World is felt under veil,
For materialistic mind spirit covered under veil,
Reality is under veil of mind,
Light is more deceptive,
When light passes through veil of ignorance of mind,
Creator looks like creature,
How one can believe creator,
his creation creature are one!
The belief and faith are so strong,
That even if creator comes and say,
'I am the creator',
We drag him to court,
Or show him way to asylum,
Because we are creators of our future,
never want creator to poke his nose,
When misguided mind,
Keeps on misguiding,
Misguiding its own creator!
Every flow of current,
Generate a force,
Which opposes its own origin,
So, son opposes his own father,
not knowing father, mother, son are same and one!
The one not found in me or you,
Or in the space within atom,
Or not found in beauty of nature,
Beauty of life around,
How can he be in Kashi or Jerusalem or Kaaba?
If not He can understand my song of love,
How he can understand Mantra and verses?
If he can't cross the boundary of hearts,
Man made boundaries of caste and creed,
Nation and state borders,
How can I believe, He is LORD OF UNIVERSE?
The One who is not now here is surely nowhere,
One need not find him anywhere,
If he is my true beloved,
He should be here now,
With me and all the time always!

Mystery Mountain
Mountain of mystery,
Rising high above the clouds.
Mountain of magic,
Standing tall and proud,
Your magical veins
Flowing silver and gold,
Your cumulus cloud glows misty red,
As apollo sets beyond your head.
Releasing the pressure built over the years
The mountain is crying hot lava tears
Molten rock created under vibrations of
Sub-terranean thunder
Ejecting boulders like pieces of sand
The mountain is
Giving birth to the land.
Under your feet you feel a rumble
As thousands of rocks are starting to tumble
Above the trees where the buzzard flies
Swirling vapors begin to rise
Beneath those misty peaks you hide
A tremendous force boiling deep inside.

Where The Blue Mountains Lie
Some things we want are out of reach,
but I know where my dreams dwell,
far across the sea where the Blue Mountains lie
with their fingers touching the sky.
A world away from what I have,
a peaceful life in serenity hold
my dreams wait there for me
if I reach out and be bold.
Where the Blue Mountains lie
set against a mottled sky
where quiet is the order of the day
within the shadows of the mountains blue.
A place where my dreams
wait for me to gather them in
and start my life a new
under the shadows of the mountains blue.

My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy
From a shack by a mountain stream
To a room in new orleans
So far from my blue ridge mountain home
The men I meet aint warm and friendly
Like the one in old virginie
Oh they aint real like my blue ridge mountain boy
I was just a little past eighteen
When I came to new orleans
Id never been beyond my home state line
There was a boy who loved me dearly
But I broke his heart severely
When I left my blue ridge mountain boy
Life was dull in my hometown
Lights were out when the sun went down
And I thought that city life was more my style
But nights get lonely away from home
And its easy to go wrong
The men aint kind like my blue ridge mountain boy
New orleans held things in store
Things Id never bargained for
And every night a different man knocks on my door
But late at night when all is still
I can hear a whippoorwill
As I cry for my blue ridge mountain boy
Oh but I can never go back home
Since the boy I love is gone
He grew tired of waiting for me to return
They say he married last october
But I never will get over
Oh the sweet love of my blue ridge mountain boy

The Hand of Beauty
Beauty is a sunset or a rise
On a breath Taking day
And like snow covered mountains
With peaks where the clouds lay
Beauty is a seasonal poppy
Stranded on a road side
Presenting its definition
Unknowingly glowing with pride
Beauty is a rainy day
When a day is clear and bright
Lining the sky with colours
And bowing within your sight
Beauty is many of things
Some remain untold
But one I yet not mentioned
Is the one of the hand I hold
For this beauty is different
This beauty is so divine
And I promise to travel a journey
With this beautiful wife of mine
