Scraps and Pieces
Is there anything of quality,
Left that is significant?
Has the praising of mediocrity,
All that remains...
In a going insane society.
Scraps and pieces of happiness.
Are priceless when this is possessed.
Social status seems less a crave...
With those of simple needs today.
Many have never gone through this...
Having hunger, no home and in joblessness.
And they're Black.
In joblessness.
And they're White.
In joblessness...
And they're Brown,
And they're Yellow...
Hungry, and no home to sit!
And they're Black.
In joblessness.
And they're White.
In joblessness...
And they're Brown,
And they're Yellow...
Hungry, and no home to sit!
Scraps and pieces of happiness.
Are priceless when this is possessed.
Social status seems less a crave...
With those of simple needs today.
Many have never gone through this...
Having hunger, no home and in joblessness.
Is there anything of quality?
Is there anything of quality?
Is there anything of quality?
Is there anything
Anything
Anything...?
And they're Black.
In joblessness.
And they're White.
In joblessness...
And they're Brown,
And they're Yellow...
Hungry, with no home to sit!
Scraps and pieces with nothing to eat,
And they're Black.
In joblessness.
And they're White.
In joblessness...
And they're Brown,
And they're Yellow...
Hungry, without a home to sit!

The people who do not get jobs are often the most vulnerable in our society, and joblessness is a terrible plight for anyone who suffers from it.

The past two years
In the first of these two years
It went from wealth to woe,
marriage to deforce,
victory to defeat,
health to illness,
promotion to joblessness
and the first was shattering,
but the last was sweet.
In the second year I found
a new love
and life got meaning again,
but what the future hold’s
only God knows.

In addition to joblessness, of course, by the working of supply and demand, when you have a larger number of people unemployed, wages do not rise at the normal level, so that we had last year a drop in real wages.

Psychosocial Crises
For our youths to attain
personality normal and fulfilling
resolve the crises within and without
or else they are easy preys
to the hands of lawless gangs.
After the fall, painful the pangs.
Joblessness makes them hopeless
and leads them to bang
on the doors of illegal trades.

Truth And Justice.... (Part Two)
do i advocate violent overthrow of
the government? .... no!
but i do not advocate the abuse of
the individual either.
we need to arm ourselves with the
weapons of peace, reason, and understanding...
we need to see things as they are!
and we need to reach down deep inside,
and pull out the fortitude to stand...
for a freedom that is equal in all ways.
we need to take our anger at hunger,
homelessness and joblessness...
and turn it into a plow...
we need to plow the fields of parity!
whether we do it the right way,
or the wrong way....
something will be done!
the load has become too much,
and the stink too foul!
we will change!
be a part of it...
or be overcome by it!

A Sparrow's Thoughts... (Number Eight)
'steady rain, black dirt,
birds singing, to the clouds.
streets wet, cars passing,
time turns inward, so do i...'
a long slow Sunday afternoon.
winter whispers, almost forgotten.
spring turns the page, life begins again.
we are faced with so many issues;
poverty, joblessness, hunger, homelessness,
wars fought for profit, the corruption
of Wall Street and big business,
the oil companies raping the earth....
people fighting over religions,
over politics, over pieces of ground...
forgetting, we dont own the earth,
we belong to the earth.
and anyone who believes in god,
would have to know, that if god
is a real god, he/she wouldnt love
just one type of people...
if you believe in god,
god created all of this rich diversity
for a reason!
if we quit fighting the endless wars of the elite,
we could take the money spent and feed the hungry,
and house the homeless...
if wages and goods were distributed in a fair manner,
people could live!
there should be no divide between rich and poor,
only people, working and living, side by side.
those who have excessively taken for profit need to be tried,
and convicted. we absolutely have to find a way
to replace our dependance on oil, and now!
we need to go back to teaching respect,
we must learn to accept people for who and
what they are...
we need to go back, and find our way!
will end the same way i began, (we all do!)
'steady rain, black dirt,
a sparrow leaves the nest behind.
the simple faith of beating wings....
time turns inward, so do i! '

For Wishes of Good Credit
For wishes of good credit...
Should be the least of one's concern.
Good credit against an admitted deficit,
Seems less meaningful and senseless...
If debts unpaid go uncollected.
And if one with good credit,
Is employed and fears.
How can one expect it to be kept good...
If the threat of joblessness,
Approaches.
And repossessions draw near!

Shouting words down the sidewalk while watching the moon
Moon beams!
pouring out light like streams of crystal
onto black ice cracked streets!
There are no birds
tonight
Hello Moon!
white
yellow
epiphany that shed form
Circumference of sky
falls sweetly into the arms
of the moon
and I walk
back down the sidewalk
to a home I hardly know
& to a home- soon I see
the Sky is waiting infront of me
and that is the home
that I know!
Goodnight
white
yellow
Moon!

The Disease....
homelessness, joblessness, and hunger are not statistics.
they are people, with real faces, real hearts, and
real bodies... made in the image of god.
has nothing to do with race, religion, language,
sexual orientation, or citizenship...
it has to do with basic need....
a dollar in the cup, a prayer, and a shaking of the
head will not do!
these people are part of your family.
bottom line, we are responsible... for each other,
for the state of the world, for need, for poverty...
and we are responsible for our own indifference!
we cannot begin to say we believe in god, any god...
that we are a moral and ethical people, that we believe
in justice and equality, and that we are human...
without addressing and eradicating these atrocities!
if we do not become the cure, then we are the disease!

The expelled farmer (parody)
(with apologies to fanie olivier)
At five to eleven there is thunder slamming down outside,
the winter chill is already cutting through his body.
Now in the folds of the bed he draws the blanket tightly
and look somewhat clinical at how it is flashing outside.
From above everything is washed neatly clean,
there is darkness covering the blue,
while like last night, he does not trust the peace,
being alone in his double bed.
He remembers how it had been
at the farm near to Pongola,
now with stripped grass, overgrazed, used far too much,
with shabby pineapples and he is fed-up,
has had too much of broken houses and poles,
of the joblessness with which the government
is trampling over white people.
The rain flows while he smells new life,
his county is being run into the ground.

He Cannot Sleep
He cannot sleep
with eyes wide open
he does not see enough light
through this blinding darkness
he feels the recession thundering
like an enormous quake
on a Richter scale
with unfathomable
logarithmic upheaval
as joblessness
cries out for mercy
rising like a tsunami
in tumultuous waves
wallowing in our hopes
for a better tomorrow
often times
job openings make mockery
of our social fabric
lashing away with emptiness
or nibbling away
at our broken dreams
like piranhas
only leaving our bones
for the breakfast table
with our eyes wide open
he cannot sleep
we cannot sleep
sleep.

Freedom Doesnt
freedom doesnt starve it's children,
freedom doesnt sell it's people into slavery.
freedom doesnt see skin color,
doesnt always speak english.
freedom doesnt have one religion.
freedom doesnt choose sexual preference.
freedom doesnt regulate love.
freedom doesnt trade joblessness for profit.
freedom doesnt take your home.
freedom doesnt create reservations, slums,
and low rent trailer parks.
freedom doesnt ban books.
freedom doesnt invade and conquer.
freedom doesnt trade blood for oil.
freedom doesnt imprison those it cannot use.
freedom doesnt live by the lie.
freedom doesnt have different levels of justice,
depending on how much money you have.
freedom doesnt abandon it's elderly.
freedom doesnt turn away the sick.
freedom doesnt kill in the name of god.
freedom doesnt lie about the past.
damn it to hell!
this doesnt smell like freedom!

That Committee
Things here do not exist,
Because you have decided them to...
Or not!
Nor are one's feelings felt,
Depending on your approval...
At your finger snap and pop!
Or hands clapped with orders barked!
Somewhere, someone has implanted
Within you a time-released mental injury!
Sustained.
And seduced you,
With life threatening delusions.
Look out your window.
Do it now or later...
That doesn't matter.
But when you do...
See conflict?
Hunger?
Poverty and homelessness?
Perhaps restlessness?
Because of a joblessness...
You and yours infested.
Or invested...
Depending on how that is perceived!
These are the stresses,
Your ancestors have cursed us with!
Nothing in your history has nurtured,
Goodwill at all.
Deception?
Yes!
Do you think for one moment...
Your re-anactments of God,
Sit well with me?
They don't!
And you have yet to learn your lesson!
'That' is part of the equation,
Determining whether or not you survive!
And I am glad I am not on 'that' committee.
I hear they have documented your every move.
Maybe you'll be lucky...
And find them forgiving!

Have hues a role?
Grass lends beauty to ‘green’;
Tooth lends beauty to ‘white’;
Sky lends beauty to ‘blue’.
So do lips to ‘red’.
Red lips excel red blood;
Brown horse excel brown ass;
Yellow gold excels yellow brass.
So does black hair, black skin.
Black hair yields to white hair;
Green meadow yields to gray one.
Brown curls yield to fallen leaves
So does tender skin to one wrinkled.
The stuff rules; the merit rules;
The young rules. Have hues a role?

My Black Home.
In my black home
Sometimes the opposite skin
Is perceived to be supreme
Even than our kin.
In my black home
Leaders see their reigns
Everlasting and forget that
Big ones had come and gone as the rains
That fell yesterday.
In my black home
My brothers desire
Toiling on lands of the white
And on return bring home pastures
So green to get here
If the peaks had made patriotism
Prior to party love
Would it be so?
In my black home
Sometimes my sisters
Are forced to marry
My parents friend.
In my black home
Despite these
There are more natural resources
The gold and green
And the fuel
And for all these I am proud more
Despite the eyesore
In my black home.

If Roses Can Be
If roses can be
yellow
pink
red
white
And still be roses
If hair can be
red
blonde
brunette
black
And still be hair
If eyes can be
green
blue
brown
hazel
And still be eyes
Then why can't humans be
black
white
hispanic
asian
And still be accepted?
Why can't people be
special
different
unique
original
And still be people?
If roses can be
yellow
pink
red
white
And still be roses.....

Yellow And Rose
Notes:
JT on Sony.com: Botany Bay is where they brought the convicts. . .The dregs of British society who became the finest nation on God's green earth. . . beautiful. Yellow and Rose is a half baked thing about transportation, transformation and Australia.
Yellow and Rose
Yellow and Rose
Yellow and Rose
Oh boy, Botany Bay
Watching the water go by
Here's your home so far away
Here is a tear for your eye
Here is a vast and unknown land
Here are the strangers on the sand
Oh, seeds of the universe ever endeavor to grow
Tiny pieces of everything into the water they go
Everything changes for the strangers on the shore
They are blue and green no more
They are yellow and rose
Down under got the south side
This groovy crazy planet
Watching from the outside
It's as smooth as a gravy sandwich
People play music night for day
One caught the sun in a sekere
Seeds of the universe ever endeavor to grow
Tiny pieces of everything into the water they go
Everything changes for the strangers on the shore
They are blue and green no more
They are yellow and rose
Remember when we thought we were in California
We thought it was the eye of the hurricane
Old gypsy woman she tried to warn you
"You'll be back this way again
Hungry for the rain
It's written in your hand, plain"
Seeds of the universe ever endeavor to grow
Tiny pieces of everything into the water they go
Everything changes for the strangers on the shore
They are blue and green no more
They are yellow and rose
Yellow and Rose

Inconclusive Evidence
Statistics evaluated...
Revealed descrepancies,
Between the 'haves' and 'have nots'.
And those providing the exclosures
Could not believe the discoveries.
Although observations of homelessness,
Poverty, joblessness, crime and hunger...
Were declared 'urban' phenonmenons.
And no one conducting the surveys,
Actually knew any those suffering...
By name,
So their findings were deemed inconclusive,
Evidence!
They had to be scrapped for lack of 'facts'.
Further studies were ordered,
Since verification of those experiencing
These 'ordeals'
Could not be produced!
Too many were said 'overacting' their plights!
A 'reality' has not yet been determined!
And additional funding for staffing,
To secure a more definitive...
AND appropriate manifestation,
Had yet produced the required votes...
To mandate a continuance of 'in-field' snooping,
Sought to seek the causes...
And dispel all the rumors,
That may conflict with innuendo!
Therefore...
Who can really say what segment
Of the population is, indeed, being affected?
Name one amongst us who can say,
They truthfully understand...
The nourishment of a mastard sandwich?
The procedure AND implementation!
Hmmm?
Let us not forget 'who' and 'what' we represent!
