Pretoria,20 May 1983

It was an autumn day
and times will never be like that again:

We who are in love
having a lunch at a restaurant

and the half carelessness
after the promotion that I got,

the war days on the border
that for me is over for the here and now

and then, we just miss the bomb
that explodes in Church Street

and know we are living in times of war
and see the innocent

of any sex, age,
language and race

murdered, maimed, blown to pieces
and of some, just pieces are left

and somewhere our old world
has lost its meaning and has gone insane.

Peace Not Into Pieces.

I refused to remain silent,
While our future is lost,
To senseless violences and wars,
We've died enough,
And have cried enough red seas,
But where's the strong source,
Our love inside of us?
A child's tear into floods,
In the west Nile and
The dry karamoja areas,
Ramble in the potholed kampala of aches,
A mother without a mouth,
And a baby on her back,
Tryna scream out for peace
Not into pieces,
All we want is peace not into pieces.

I know you know what
Besigye really wants......
Elias Lukwago and Betty Nambooze,
You know what the country needs,
We know why the caged bird sing,
[ Maya Angelou ],
Men on boda bodas,
Those in Owino and Kiseka....
In peace not pieces.

Talkin' is free,
I'm speakin' for the mouthless
Brothers and sisters,
And the so tired ugandans,
All we stutterin' is peace not pieces,
something we yelled for is
Peace not pieces;

Before its blown, we ask for
Peace not into pieces,
God we shout for you in heaven,
That peace falls down here,
Not in pieces,
Something we can shout out
To end all their brutal war game,
The peace we yawning for,
Case for northern war was fake,
Don't let it fade,
More still rest lives can be saved.

Got braveness in me,
Shoutin' out for PWDs,
For peace not pieces,
Scared, I might end calling
Peace not Pieces,
Resting in pieces,
Thus calling for peace not pieces,
All we crave is peace not pieces,
And that's what we miss,
Something we can grow,
Before its grown in pieces,
Calling for peace not pieces.

Autumn Years

Picking up the pieces of my life
I wonder why the hell I ever came here
A man without a future left to face
And nothing but a memory to embrace
Holding on to threads of sanity
Imagining the roads I could have taken
It fills me with a deepening sense of shame
And outside I can hear the pouring rain
There is a place
Where in my mind I escape
And there I understand the way I feel
And deep in this world of make-believe
I will spend my autumn years with you
Sitting in this grey and sunless world
I try to come to terms with guilty feelings
A man about to pay the final price
And nothing but his breath to sacrifice
Therell be a time
When Ill be gone from your mind
A fading ghost that soon will disappear
And deep in my would of endless pain
I must face my autumn years
Im picking up the pieces, Im picking up the pieces
Im picking up the pieces, Im picking up the pieces
Picking up the pieces of my life

My Valentines

This valentines day stricly broken up
for my heart has cried enough
the broken pieces left out to bleed
and the bitter strength did not succeed

for this valentine is only a card
cut out by a single heart
only to show you how much it hurt
for it to simply be torn apart

my heart has been cut too many times to count
pieces given away to my valentines
as if these pieces enables a spell
put on me to control my loveless crimes

all pieces have been given away
thrown away for very shown sharp
causing them to so called bleed, to hurt
even if from my love filled heart

for now they are gone spread out for all too see
my hearts in pieces now cried from tears
now the love is no longer in me
and my thoughts no longer conquer these fears

i have no love left
no heart left
only tears left
only hope left
not even a valentine

Don't Fall To Pieces

Feeding on the things you want,
Undaunted.
And doing it to flaunt?
With hopes to generate stares,
To delight in a doing of superficial taunts.
To prove whatever it is you think you do,
Excites.

Don't...
Fall to pieces.
Or be the one that weeps.
When you discover you are not the priority,
On anyone's mind...
You'd like to impress in the streets,
In clown declining times.

When...
Those days don't go your way,
Don't fall to pieces.
Or be the one that weeps.

When...
Blue skies cover with clouds and turn to gray,
Don't fall to pieces.
Or be the one that weeps.

Biting on nails and getting pale,
As rose colored glasses worn...
Begin to fail.
Don't fall to pieces.

If the bread you nibble on taste as if stale,
Don't fall to pieces with a rushing home...
To your own jail cell.
With a rummaging through other costumes.

Remember this...
What you did yesterday,
With beliefs you could do it.
People today are not as shallow...
And can see through it.

And what you represent...
In your Superfly garments,
Reminds those who have awakened...
How lost in space,
Those who still chase...
The ridiculous.
With hopes those days return.

Don't...
Fall to pieces.
Or be the one that weeps.
When you discover you are not the priority...
On anyone's mind,
You'd like to impress in the streets.

Don't fall to pieces but seek,
Your true identity.
These are the times,
Your mind could use a hefty dose of it.
Truth is on the scene and here to prevail.

Pieces Of You In A Pair Of Dreams (chapter one)

In a piece of my dreams
I've eroded you with my kisses
until there was nothing
nothing else to kiss but a perfumed soul,
but I was too late
for there were others before me
that left their marks by breaking bits of it
like they had the right of ruling over you
like kings.
I'd kill them if you'd let me,
but I think that you liked being their queen,
more than you like being mine.

Breaking the sun into a billion pieces
and hiding before anyone notice the disasters
I cause for you,
somehow became my ritual of love
in this sad sad autumn,
where pieces of you still hug me
like someone that cares
and I can't tell if it's real or not,
for I've been dreaming a lot these days
about giants and creatures that live on the moon.
But the giants don't help me much these days,
searching for their trophies
they got lost somewhere on the moon.

I'm sure that there are others that love you
but know that I love you more than the sum of them all
for I've danced with you in the corners of a sun
they can't even see.
You may not be the most beautiful girl in the world,
but to me you are.

...damn
a piece of my dream is missing,
you.

On Autumn´s Earth

This is the beginning
Now carry me away
On to the faraway new day
That now is born to play

Yes this is the beginning
Moments dreamed and found
Everything in its singing
That comes again around

Flowers on autumn´s earth
Reaching their own goal
Times of days and worth
Each their together role

Flowers on autumn´s earth
Reaching their own goal
Times of days and worth
Each their together role
On autumn´s earth

Yesterdays were all turning
In their beat´s echo heart
Forever in lay and burning
Poles and miles apart
Flames of their color giving
All that came from within
Days their dreams own living
As worlds take their spin

Flowers on autumn´s earth
Reaching their own goal
Times of days and worth
Each their together role

Flowers on autumn´s earth
Reaching their own goal
Times of days and worth
Each their together role
On autumn´s earth

Swept away in their call
Dreams that were carried on
Love songs of colors fall
Until their moments are gone
You and I had our calling
Dreams that were not to be
Now like autumn earth's falling
All that we had is now free

Flowers on autumn´s earth
Reaching their own goal

My soul is lost...

At times my soul seems stripped of hope
Thought's of doubt strangle my mind like a rope
When the dreams of life seem they've been betrayed
Blown to pieces from an emotional grenade

Defenses breached it seems like the end
Yet my heart is strong and it shall mend
When all is lost and shattered into pieces
A new contract I write upon one of life's leases

So I shall walk around with my new happy face
A mask that can hide all of my past disgrace
If god truly lives why isn't he kinder
When all we see is his heavy handed minder

The pain and suffering we see from birth
Masks daily the beauty of our mother earth
When all seems empty and nothing is left
My soul is lost, forlorn, confused and bereft...

Spread the love... The peace will follow...

Since I Lost You

It seems in a moment, your whole world can shatter
Like morning dreams they just disappear
Like dust in your hand falling to the floor
How can life ever be the same
Cos my heart is broken in pieces
Yes my heart is broken in pieces
Since youve been gone
Its all too easy to take so much for granted
Oh but its so hard to find the words to say
Like a castle in the sand the water takes away
But how can life ever be the same
Cos my heart is broken in pieces
Yes my heart is broken in pieces
Since Ive lost you
Oh now youll never see
Oh youll never know
All the things I planned for you
Things for you and me
Held your hand so tightly
That I couldnt let it go
Now how can life ever be the same
Cos my heart is broken in pieces
Yes my heart is broken in pieces
Since youve been gone
Cos my heart is broken in pieces
Yes my heart is broken in pieces
Since Ive lost you
Cos my heart is broken in pieces

When We Were Children

There are times when our mind
slips back to a world we left behind.
To the days when we were children
and innocent to the horrors of humankind.

To the times when the summers sun
seem to last forever and a day,
when we were children
in that world so far away.

In those days when were not
corrupted by life as we are today.
Those days when beauty
came from the petals of a flowers head.

Those days when we were children
are gone to our memories
for us to lovingly remember
of a world we left behind.

Im so lost without You

All I see is continous darkness,
As though light was you,
What am I without you,
You left me hanging,
Yes when I needed you most,
I was so wrong to let go,
Yet so right to understand

Im thinking of you honey,
Nothing can be done I know,
Today is blameless for this,
Neither is yesterday,
I carry the pain of my wrongs,
The hugs are fading on and on,
The kisses becoming meaningless
Im so lost without you

My pride wont let me cry before you,
But alone I shed the tears my love,
Im so lost without you,
You broke my heart into tiny particles,
With those pieces I love you the same,
I look at the doors you left open,
Hoping in my heart,
Your foot might step again,
Im so lost without you

Im tormented and torn apart,
Tortured and broken into pieces,
The hours i wanted you more,
The days i needed you the most,
The same moment you walked away,
Im so lost without you
Find me again my lost hope,
Love me again my lost love

Poem for a child that was never conceived

Somewhere at a time
I thought that you would be part of my life,
but the relationship
in which I wished you to come forth was shattered

into broken pieces
and then when I met somebody
who would have been a perfect mother,
who knew how to love selflessly

destiny brought her to an early grave
and maybe from then on I did not truly want you,
it’s not that I have not desired
to have you in my life

but I have lost myself along the way,
have raised someone else’s children
as if they were my very own
and have lost them too

when their mother
moved in with her new lover
and sometimes I think
that your presence would have been a joy

but I am living in a world
on the brink of disaster,
with nothing to continue my legacy,
but the words that I leave

yet at times you are present in my dreams,
at times its as if your tiny fingers
fold around mine,
as if you are throbbing in my blood.

Separate Ways

(words & music by west - mainegra)
I see a change is coming to our lives
Its not the same as it used to be
And its not too late to realise our mistake
Were just not right for each other
Love has slipped away left us only friends
We almost seem like strangers
All thats left between us are the memories we shared
Of times we thought we cared for each other
Theres nothing left to do but go our separate ways
And pick up all the pieces left behind us
And maybe someday, somewhere along the way
Another love will find us
Some day when shes older, maybe she will understand
Why her mom and dad are not together
The tears that she will cry when I have to say goodbye
Will tear at my heart forever
Theres nothing left to do but go our separate ways
And pick up all the pieces left behind us
And maybe someday, somewhere along the way
Another love will find us

Crying against the wind

I

I saw boys growing up as
Christians,
learning about God,
being taught at school,
to respect
about discipline,
to stretch the mind
and the boys were young and innocent
and for us there were peace.
We slept with unlocked doors,
the police did their job
to the best of their ability,
but the world changed.

II

I saw the effects
of the terrorist bomb
in church street
that smote the innocent
people in the street
and young and old
men, women
scarred, mutilated, maimed,
and cut into bits and pieces
by shrapnel and the deadly
rain of flying glass.

I saw an academic hospital
filled in every hall,
and the few doctors
and paramedics and sisters and nurses
and accountants, clerks,
and office people
issuing disaster cards
and admitting the living.

III

I saw young boys forced to become
a part of a deadly war machine,
and they were barbered, drilled, cursed
and trained to be the best soldiers,
learning discipline,
the strength found in oneself,
about friendship
and suffering the consequences
of killing humans beings.

I saw young men
playing Russian roulette
and at times
wishing to be dead
and I saw boys
becoming better persons
than they were
and starting to be
true believers
of the almighty One
and others turning
into the worst
kind of human beings
and losing all religion,
Integrity and decency
and the madness of hate
taking its toll

I saw boys going
through dense bush,
living in the field,
tracking and destroying deadly terrorists
as just another day’s work,
driving armed vehicles
and battle tanks,
fighting against great odds
and winning every battle
and the war.

I saw war,
the destruction,
the desolation that it brings,
the suffering of the innocent,
the savage carnage
and dead enemies
in great numbers
and people with shot off
legs and arms.

I saw friends die,
shot to pieces,
toasted by prosperous projectiles,
smashed by mortars
and killed
in most of the ways that war brings
and politicians lying and deposing
each other
and the world changed.

IV

I saw religious fanatics
killing innocent people,
crashing planes into buildings,
getting the war
that they begged for,
dying the death
which they sought
and innocent bystanders
paying the toll
for their deeds
and the world changed.

V

I saw the borders being thrown open
to all of Africa,
criminals streaming in,
selling drugs, running prostitution,
lost two cars
to robbers that the insurance
did not pay
and my best friend
left the country
after a hijacking.

I saw children
smoking marijuana, doing crack cocaine,
injecting themselves with heroine
living like vagrants,
whoring around,
robbing from their parents,
braking into houses,
escaping from rehabilitation,
going to jail,
losing the reasons to live,
desperately trying to get the next fix
and dying from drugs and Aids.

VI

I saw reverse racism
that changed laws,
discrimination,
white people with degrees
and experience without work,
while untrained black people
brought every government department
but the taxman
almost to a standstill
and foreign black aliens from all over Africa
having greater rights
and electricity being cut
and the country was in darkness
and the people lived in poverty
and tatters
while they thought about what they had lost
and nobody was counting the cost
and the oppressed were crying in vain
against the wind
and waiting for the rain
that brings life back again.

Picking Up The Pieces

Take cover, young lovers,
fall apart at the seams
It's stainless steel, that's how I feel,
you're the girl of my dreams
Well I tried to call you on the phone,
your dad said that you weren't at home
But we are, picking up the pieces of our lovin'
over and over again
Picking up the pieces let's do it again
We're picking up the pieces,
picking up the pieces of our love
Well, I need your lovin'
to show me what I am
And I want your body
to make me feel like a man
You know that I'm down on my knees,
you know it's you that I want to please, please
Picking up the pieces of our lovin'
over and over again
Picking up the pieces let's do it again
We're picking up the pieces,
picking up the pieces of our love

Circus Girl

Written by michael jackson
Shes from a world
Of popcorn and candy
Only your eyes for a dime
Little children laughing
Im from a world
Of disappointments and confusions
But I want her to be mine
I started talking
She kept on walking
She dissapeared into the crowd
I lost my heart
On the carousel
To a cicus girl
Who left my heart in pieces
Lost my heart
On the carousel
To a circus girl
Who ran away
I was the clown
And she was the dancer
We both knew it wouldnt work
But we took our chances
What I cant recall
Is if there was a girl at all
Or was it my imagination?
I still remember
All of those faces
And now all I have is memories
I lost my heart
On the carousel
To a cicus girl
Who left my heart in pieces
Lost my heart
On the carousel
To a circus girl
Who ran away
Two different people
In love for an instant
To see that the circus came today
Sometimes I can hear her crying here
And I can hear her calling me
Dont you know?
I lost my heart
On the carousel
To a cicus girl
Who left my heart in pieces
Lost my heart
On the carousel
To a circus girl
Who ran away.

My Love Explodes

My love explodes all over the world for you, yeah you
My love explodes in diamonds and pearls for you, just you
When the straight plastic bowler men
Grab your soul and pull you down down down
Call my name on your dream telephone
Catch a saucer and Ill be around
Blow em out of town
My love explodes
My love explodes like the stars up in space for you, yeah you
My love explodes with the whole human race for you, just you
When the walls are all closing in
And your paradise goes wrong wrong wrong
Spell my name on your pillow tonight
Catch a rainbow and Ill be along
Singing coloured songs
My love explodes
Ive got people billions of people
Waiting here for bliss
All it takes to free these people
Is the power of a kiss, my love explodes
My love explodes all over the world for you, yeah you
My love explodes in diamonds and pearls for you, just you
My love explodes

I can only rest in peace with all pieces of my heart joined!

No barriers can separate hearts,
no grave is deep enough to bury feelings,
revolving billion times for billion years,
round and round around galaxies,
in that grand explosion of star,
pieces of my heart spread on earth!

Finding those on this green planet,
I descended,
hoping to pick pieces of my heart,
finding myself and collecting pieces,
o soul-mates, without you I am helpless,
with hope and faith I live here!

Neither born nor die i may be,
without collecting pieces of heart,
those pieces stuck in friends hearts,
their thoughts are mine own!

Can I stay here long, not my home,
it is their love that brought me here,
someday I rest in peace when only
all pieces of my heart joined together

Peace Returns Again

We live, We die.
We mourn. We cry.
And those that are left
pick up the pieces
that were that person's life,
little pieces that fit together
like a puzzle that just like the weather
is filled with changes
of highs and lows,
of happy times
and all their woes.
The last piece of the puzzle
fits right into place
and frames the picture
that was their face.

We keep that puzzle in our heart
and remember with love each little part
that was that person's life.
We then are left with an enigma,
a puzzle that relates their life.
It lives on in the mysteries of this world
but becomes solved in the afterlife.
And peace returns again.

These Are The Days

Ah ah
Heres a song
About living in the past
If it was so good then
How come it didnt last?
If it helps you
Ill put it in a phrase
Those were the times
But these are the days
These are the days
These are the days
These are the days
These are the days
These are the days
The times youre smiling back on
Had that great sitcom
It hardly compensated
For the terror of the bomb
Let me help
cause youre looking through a haze
Those were the times
These are the days
These are the days
Hey hey hey
These are the days
Can you hear me now?
These are the days
Look around look around look around
These are the days
These are the days
Hey hey live today
These are the days
Its time to put the past away
These are the days
The more you do the more you say
These are the days
The more I need to get away
Youre longing for a time
There never was
Now tell me the truth
Youre looking for the reason
Its because
Youre fighting for youth
But if I have to listen any more
To fantasy talk
Or any other bug you have
Im leaving
Now Im not saying
Everything is really great
Hey hey hey
After sixteen years
Of legalised class hate
Why waste time
Looking back for things to praise?
Those were the times huh
But these are the days
These are the days
Looking back in history
These are the days
Time to get contempory
These are the days
The past is not the place to be
