Not Trekking Down That Path

I can be sweet.
I can grit my teeth too.
I can also spit and chew...
To spew a bitter flavor,
I dislike and will not accept.

I am not what those might expect.

I'm not trekking down that path.
I don't digest warnings too well.
Like some I know...
That have learned to grasp.

Nor do I hunger to dance on plantations.

I reflect my ancestors.
And none of them had been of the docile kind.
With dependent minds!
Left whining to each other,
In fields where they labored.

And each step I take,
Have been placed for me to find.
To embrace,
And bear whatever the consequences.

And those clinging onto losing propositions...
I never understood.
Or will take time to understand.
Those needs to witness my own bleeding...
Are limitations.
And I'm not the one to sit and listen to it!

Too Boundless Is The Universe

Too boundless without a sighted barrier,
Is the universe.
And you expect me to accept,
In agreement...
Your limitations?
I do.
I accept 'your' limitations.

But understand this,
If you can.
Those limits are yours.
However...
Within them,
Do not come looking for me.
I am not seeking to please your comforts.

Spit It Out

If theres rage inside you so you cannot think
Spit it out
If you get so angry that you cannot speak
Spit it out
Talk to him or her or it
And tell them where they can put it
Spit it out, spit it out
You got to talk to him or her or it
And take aim with your mouth and spit
Spit it out, spit it out
If you get worked over at your job
Spit it out
If a taxi almost runs you down
Spit it out
You got to take aim with your mouth and speak
And give it to them right between the teeth
Spit it out, spit it out
Talk to him or her or it
And take aim with your mouth and spit
Spit it out, spit it out
Spit it out
Hey, hey, hey
If youre patient and you have the time
Spit it out
Wait till theyre on the decline
Spit it out
The chinese say you meet the hard with the soft
The yin with the yang, the down with the up, oh
Spit it out, spit it out
You got to grab that dumb he, she or it
And give it to them right between the teeth
Spit it out, spit it out
Spit it out, babe, spit it out
Hey

To Agitate A Childish Game

Sometimes I am tempted,
To agitate a childish game...
That has been played.
Just to feel and see it done...
To throw it back in someone's face.

But games played like that,
Have long passed their attraction.
Although so many are caught up in them...
With an immaturity that seeks as shown,
An act played like that would offer a satisfaction.

Sometimes I am tempted,
To agitate a childish game...
That has been played.
Just to feel and see it done...
To throw it back in someone's face.

And everyday I witness,
Immature adults with childish minds.
Complaining to others about who they don't like.
With a waste of time whining,
Hoping to 'hook up' with a like mind.

Everyday I seem to witness,
More children who should be adults.
More who have not discovered responsibility.
Or an accountability that brings to them concrete results.

And everyday I witness,
Immature adults with childish minds.
Complaining to others about who they don't like.
With a waste of time whining,
Hoping to 'hook up' with a like mind.

And as I pass such activities,
I feel blessed to have aged gracefully.
Although I grit my teeth...
Wanting to find a reason and purpose,
To respond to an ignorance...
I do my best,
Not to acknowledge...
With a reaction given that would please.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You...
Farther.
For the gritting of my teeth,
And the keeping of my peace!

I Really Mish My Teesh

I always looked after them whilst growing up,
Until I was about twelve years old,
Now at night they are stored in a cup,
The very thought of that leaves me so cold.

I started adulthood with 32 teeth,
All perfect in every way,
White on top, the same underneath,
Not one of them showed signs of decay.

I brushed them on occasion if I felt the need,
But mostly I left them alone,
Mainly after a bevy or perhaps a feed,
Main thing is they were all my own.

Dental hygiene was there but it wasn't great,
But so what, they weren't that bad,
Despite all the warnings I have to now state,
My attitude was totally mad.

I kept being told I had really bad breath,
But I never took heed of the link,
When they said in truth it smells of death,
I blamed it on the fags and the drink.

I ignored the warnings they were under attack,
A decision I would live to regret,
Before I knew it they were covered in plaque,
With oral problems I was now beset.

I kept getting toothache time and again,
It's an affliction that is truly ill gotten,
How did I manage to stand that pain,
Knowing it was my teeth, which were rotten.

The sweet things the booze and the cigarettes,
Had left my teeth in tatters,
It's entirely my fault as nobody forgets,
Looking after them should be all that matters.

I could no longer smile, as I felt so ashamed,
My teeth were worn out and black,
My gums were sore and terribly inflamed,
Too far gone to find a way back.

I couldn't enjoy my food any more,
Cold drinks were a thing of the past,
Eating anything had became such a chore,
I now wish I had made my teeth last.

Ailments are many when you choose not to brush,
Yet they can all be avoided with ease,
By cleaning every day you will keep them plush
You'll avoid the risk of disease.

Visit the dentist; it's never too late,
They will help you to keep your teeth pure,
Don't listen to those who say, its just fate,
When they're gone there's no miracle cure.

Your adult teeth are the last ones you'll get,
Make sure they stay healthy and clean,
If you treat them well you can safely bet,
You will keep them totally pristine.

It's easy to avoid future dental strife,
All you need do is take care,
You must accept that your teeth are for life,
Look after them and they'll always be there.

I watch them lying in a glass every night,
While I lie hear and suck on my quiche,
Being unable to chew will never feel right,

Dance of fate

Every step I'll take
Every move you'll make
A step
In sync
One is forward
One is backwards
A lonely dance
With only us two
We are not lonely
but we are alone
A dance filled with bitter sweet misery
If a step is wrong
We fall
We follow a pattern unknwon to us
As pride we left
As love we seek
And as we fail
Another step is taken
As I dance with death
In this dance of fate

A shadow may appear

Some shadows may appear at the end
You will no more remain as friend
As the day passes it will grow in size
It has to be understood and realized

Shadows are dark and big
They may bother and make frequent dig
They may grow bigger and bigger
You may not be able to bear it longer

It has eternal feeling
It has made me reeling
I wish to dance with tunes
Music too favors with melody and sweet tunes

I have reserved place for her
I am her ardent lover
I praise her for work and dignity
She has fine humor and quality

She may hold pivotal position
Nothing else can be good composition
If that is the way thing may go on
I have nearly come closer and won

Who will assure me that she is for it?
I can only witness shadow in dim light
She is fading away so often
I find for her very difficult to return

It may go on for some more days
She may come forward with some reasonable ways
I shall not hesitate to embrace her
Let the storms stay or wither

She has peculiar character
She is not seasoned actor
She is neither a tormentor
Nor a good commenter

I have observed her skill
She has no tendency to kill
She may have her own thinking
Often I am left with only winking

Well, this is not the way to suggest
It is also very difficult to digest
The sun may be rising from the east
He has ultimately to set in west

In This Honoring to Their Spirits

With each blessed breath taken,
Empowered to motivate my steps.
I ensure my efforts reflect a gratefulness...
For these talents I express.
And proving I've done something with my life,
Besides hunger for material comforts.
To utilize for selfish means.
And leave nothing left behind...
But to feed an ego and a self centeredness,
I digest to unlimited extremes.

With each blessed breath taken,
Empowered to motivate my steps.
I want to show on my path,
A journey made with consciousness.
And a thankfulness to the Supreme Being...
For granting me such gifts,
With the hopes my ancestors are beaming proudly.
And what I have done,
Has brought them much joy and happiness!
As I delight in this honoring to their spirits.

Without My Interference

Very early I was given one choice...
To listen.
OR...
Suffer through the consequences.

Of course,
I knew those consequences well.
With bruises on my head,
From knocking it up against brick walls.

But that was then.

Not only have I learned to listen...
I now have learned to pay attention.
With less from my mouth going out.
And more with my eyes and ears open,
To receive and allow what is coming in...
To make its own sense without my interference.
To learn 'something' I had not learned before.

And you know...
It is amazing how this works,
To obtain comprehension.
Who knew this approach,
Leads to a quickened understanding?
Who knew that's how this happens?
I still find myself scratching my head in disbelief.

Do Not Wish To Understand

do not wish to understand a poem
much as you wish to understand feelings

feelings are not meant to be digested
and understood
you see them and so let your hands be soft
you feel them and so let your heart be kind

compassion, this fruit of the commonness of
of our time together, love may not take root
and there shall be no tree between us

i least expect joy. If it comes it is welcome.
let is speak to me and i shall listen but

i am the worshiper of pain and in mourning
i shall compose my songs

I've learned

Ive learned that to love someone doesnt have to involve pain,
Ive learned that to have a friend you must be a friend first,
Ive learned that in time youll see your mistakes and learn from them,
Ive learned that to be alone sometimes is the best thing for you,
Ive learned that in order to love a person you must feel loved,
Ive learned that if your wrong admit it or youll never forgive yourself,
Ive learned that your first love will be a part of you and you may never forget,
Ive learned that in order to move on you must fix what was first wrong,
Ive learned that if you ever mess up, you can always start over again,
Ive learned that to be 'cool' doesnt involve pressure,
Ive learned to accept what I have and be happy,
Ive learned that people will come and go so tell the ones you love how you feel,
Ive learned that to respect yourself you must respect others,
Ive learned that your actions always involve consequences whether it be good or bad,
Ive learned that priceless words can mean the world to someone,
Ive learned that sometimes being silent is the best solution,
Ive learned to expect the unexpected,
Ive learned that healing a broken heart involves tears and pain,
Ive learned to see the world in the eyes of others,
And Ive learned that each new day is a day to touch a life.

Comprehending Your Success

Can you accept and believe it...
The air allows a breathing to be achieved?

I am glad you do agree.
Because if you didn't,
I would suspect your thoughts...
As being an experimental accident.
And not an intention given!

And those wishes to fulfill dreams you have,
Are coincidences of good timing.
But you expect bad luck to receive.
And your acknowledgement of it,
Is on call in your mind.
Confirmed in a constant rewinding.
The kind that could be left behind.
To attract an absence.
But losing it is a fear you can not bear.

Although each breath you take...
You think nothing to rid of.
To inhale is a thing done you do.
To exhale is what one tosses away...
To insignificantly float.
To fade from a once over bloated gloatness.

But since you accept and believe,
The air allows a breathing to be achieved...
A possibility of comprehending your success,
Is something you should not waste time to connect!
To flaunt something you did...
In an awareness of it!

I Was Born To Listen To You & You

and then recently i learned
something
like a mission for my life: to listen

to you
& you, whose mouths are drying in your own
kind of depression
your hair falling like some dry leaves of
a very hot summer and you
appear like
a bald mountain to me
as i behave
cool as a river as i flow steadily
following the path
to the blue sea

you ask for my ears and i add my eyes
and even
my eyelids that shut to put more color to your imaginations
some flowers wilting in your mind
some snakes spitting venom in your head
all these
that sometimes too threaten me
that i touch my skin
and bones
if i am still myself: born to listen to all your woes
and sadness

you & you alone
how many are you really
so i may know
also how many selves do i have to invent to solve
the riddles of your mind?

now i know my mission
to resolve and draw the many faces of you
to remake
a stuff of a hollow being
fill you with some
essences
so you may finally come to your senses

now a shrink
tomorrow your papa or your mama
or your brother

sometimes I feel like I am God
to watch you
to see to it that unlike your ancestors
and my ancestors
we may not fall again on the same
abyss

of not really knowing ourselves
of having many names
and finally losing what we really are
in the sea

of missing identities. Now, i pray that i may have more ears
and eyes
to listen to see and more hands to hold

more of you and you and you and you
split and shattered

Only You Made Your Own Selections

You don't like the way that was said?
Too tart.
Too bitter.
Too direct.
Stick around.
That was only the tip of the iceberg,
Floating around without exposing depth.
From that set you inspect.

Continue if you wish,
To get even more upset.

And since you are seeking that which to dislike...
But somehow delight in the inviting of it.
Trust me...
What comes is going to feed your negative appetite.
To bite, chew and digest as you despise.
Think of it as dessert that pops your eyes.

Since from that menu...
Only you made your own selections.
There are others I would suggest,
But you are the keeper of your own requests.
So...
Enjoy!
And if you wish to annoy...
Keep that to yourself.

Left Vacant to Dust Like Useless Property

Minds burned out.
Thoughts displaced.
Those who fell asleep,
Awakened...
To find themselves,
Crawling on their knees.
Not remembering their own names.
OR who it was their pretensions should pleased.

Something happened overnight!
Could this be an infectious new designer disease?
To market after hyping minds to incite.

Something created in a laboratory...
And backfiring in a way,
That accidently misplaces an effective opportunity.
To have those who had once do the suppressing...
Witnessed in a mindlessness,
And left with no thoughts to express.
Is not as surprising as some might expect.

Poisonous minds...
Over time reflect this!

And left vacant to dust like useless property.
Could be the revelation on the horizon,
Those 'meek' of the Earth shall see?

False Teeth - A Children's Poem

Our teacher had false teeth;
She kept them in a box
Inside the classroom cupboard
Which she forgot to lock,
So we broke in at break-time
And took them out to play.
They fell into a puddle
And turned a muddy grey.

We gave them back to teacher;
She had to grit her teeth
Or, rather, to de-grit them
For grit was underneath
Under the muddy covering
Mixed with her chewing gum.
This made her gums quite tender;
She didn’t find it fun.

But later we regretted
The mischief that we’d made;
When lessons stopped for playtime,
Our teacher soon explained
That punishment must fit the crime
So, for our evil sin,
Just like her now-cleaned gnashers,
She had to keep us in.

With All That There Is Given

With all that there is given,
I can not digest...
To say I fully comprehend,
Before beginning...
Again to want more.

And with wishes not to be ignored,
While biting too much not to chew...
To appreciate and savor a flavor,
I am without patience to taste...
Just a piece of that which is offered.

Swallowing Something Bitter

involuntarily he swallows something bitter
not perfectly round
definitely bitter
but for now he shall not spit it out
he needs time
perhaps it will be years
he cannot even open his mouth to speak
they call him mute and dumb and deaf
but inside his ears are sharp
his understanding like the seed so bitter

his hope is only that day when by having learned
all the bitterness
he shall spit fire
and magma comes out from his mouth
and rocks
and everything thermoplastic
like he is bomb that shakes all their worlds
into tiny splinters

To Be Understood

Nothing believed comes,
If one should run from it.
And...
Nothing believed comes,
If one is stunned by it.

Nothing is comprehended,
To understand.
And...
Those who become offended,
Often demand...
To be understood.

Observe and listen with a sitting,
Not too many do.
Too many are quick with their lips,
And...
Prove they are rude.
To then to accuse,
Someone to be abusive.

Nothing is comprehended,
To understand.
And...
Those who become offended,
Often demand...
To be understood.

And wounds are never mended.
With a healing recommended...
'Cause...
People wish to brood as they choose.

Nothing is comprehended,
To understand.
And...
Those who are offended,
Often demand...
To be understood.
But they aren't listening,
As they could and they should.
No they're not listening as they should and they could.
And if they listen they would be understood.

No they don't listen to,
Be understood.
No they don't listen like they could and should.

Echoes Of Moments Together

She was gasping for air
And left this morn.
I had to brush my teeth,
She was in the mirror
And in my eyes.
I had to sip my tea,
She was with me
Plunging deeper with every sip.
All through the rituals
She kept clinging to me
With every motion
The grasp was tighter.
I went out to face the day
And there she was in the sun,
In the air, all over me.
She was a guest in my world,
A few moments' find,
Leaving echoes in my mind!

Under Siege

Blindfolded they were.
And interrogated for who they were not.
Taken and detoxed...
Weened from events needing to stop,
Their will to know themselves.

This was the challenge...
To eliminate from them neglect!
To eliminate from them,
Their feeding need to disrespect.
With acceptance meant,
And upon them crept!

They were bleeding gold from their veins.
And not taking the reigns of their own destiny!
Kings and Queens hip hopped and dropped.

This has to end...
This poisoning of an already damaged crop!
Arrested are they who must now command and obey...
Before this time grinds the minds
Needing to grasp fast,
A heritage of wealth that began
Long ago when thrones were places...
And kingdoms where they sat were vast!

Linked they are to ancestors,
Who ruled before fools came to destroy!
As these times we witness pass...
As these times we witness 'histories' trashed.
But must be saved and not subjected to annoy!
