Interview Process

I was never one,
To sit through an interview process.
When I was asked...
'Why do you wish to work for us? '
My response...
'Give me a reason to want to! '
Here's another one...
'Where do you see yourself,
In the next five years?
My response...
'Not being interviewed,
For a position I'm overqualified for! '
And when test results were revealed...
This was the exchange...
'You have done remarkably well.
In fact,
The position you most qualify for
Was 'just' filled.
We will keep your resumé in our active files.
And if a similar position opens...
You will be contacted! '

Well...
Those active files were usually discarded
In an opened trash can!

My new approach now is this...
'I want to start at least tweny dollars an hour! '
Their response...
'We can't pay that.
I'm not even getting that! '
My response...
'I can understand why you're not getting paid that.
If you can not see I am worth more than that...
I'll be surprised if you're still here...
After someone discovers you were stupid enough,
To let me walk out that door! '

And most companies fail,
For the lack of qualified employees.
Who wants to hire someone smarter than they are?

I knew of folks who trained five years...
Just learning how to file documents alphabetically.
And they have won 'Employee of the Month' awards!

But then again...
None of them 'looked' like me either!

Dreams Coming True

Finally one of my dreams is coming
true: to be a robot, impervious, calm
undisturbed, unemotional, cool, able
to sit in one position all day long and
do just one thing - translating

No feeling response to anything as
there is no noradrenaline, no fight
or flight response - I always took
flight now almost nothing evokes
a reaction, a drug from heaven

I always wished to sit quietly like
my colleagues, do my work without
wondering about the meaning of life
or the reason for being, all feedback

To my brain interrupted, so the little
alien in my head is unaware of what's
going on and gets a rest - what bliss -
normally I'm so frustratingly anxious

And now I'm like a real human being
the stony kind - perfect to enjoy my
work - without thinking!

A Love's Desire

In my desperate need
To know of your whereabouts,
I asked the moon about you
And it turned its back on me, ,
Trying to hide behind a cloud...
I also asked the stars
With no response at all...
I had no choice, indeed,
But ask for help from above,
Since, witnesses they were both
Of our passionate love...
Now, stuck with inquire without result,
I am alone, sad and really hurt,
Making everything sounds like a satire,
Getting old and tired...
One question remaining,
Should I give up
Love's matters
And retire?
Her, and the whole world
Have the response...

Tact Techniques

Okay...
So we have different methods!
If someone steps on my toes...
I shoot them in the leg!
That's a quicker learning process,
Than having sessions,
To enlighten etiquette procedures.

My approach to achieve enlightenment,
Gets immediate response.
However, I must admit...
Perhaps your 'tact' techniques,
I could use to enhance my patience!
And have fewer of my 'students' limping,
In fear.

Although,
I must say...
Some are quite eager to learn.
And become surprised how quickly they adopt,
To my teaching skills and delivery...
They seem to grasp,
With little explanation!

I Hear The Annual Rhetoric

My ears I keep open.
And I hear the annual rhetoric.
Spoken by some in glorious tones...
About uplifting the quality of life of those,
Of our brothers and sisters...
Who have done their best,
Avoiding to get stuck...
In cracks wrapped around loopholes.
The ones...
Many have accepted to address their unhappiness.
With a lack of discipline and purpose self confessed.

I hear the annual rhetoric.

Yet a slow slipping done,
Into a fissure has grown to become an abyss.
And 'annually' I've been approached and asked...
To express an intelligent response about this!

However...
As I have aged to confront my own obstacles,
I have forced myself not to dismiss.
With a determination to calm my outrage,
With a mind blessed to be at peace...
With the unballing of my fists!

I wonder,
Why you request me to give you an intelligent response?
Concerning an activity that has taken place,
And achieved totally on the merits of conscious ignorance.
Served and accepted as if this was a blessing,
Many wish and want to keep.
As those slandered and defamed were chased away.

I wonder,
Why you request me to give you an intelligent response?
Did you expect something glowing and profound?
Full of reflective self righteousness?
We are all in this abyss.
I just prefer to keep reaching,
To experience the higher consciousness of it!

Enjoy Your Day

You approached me to ask a question.
And taking my time to listen...
With a response I had hoped,
You would comprehend.
Not only did you not do that.
But you edited my answer...
To 'insert' what you thought,
For you did not offend.

Now you accuse me of not being direct.
You say my answer,
For you is not effective.
You inject words connected to my response,
To something you rather accept.
And I hear your attempts,
To try to comvince others...
What it is I really meant!

'Why are you leaving? '

You asked me a question.
I answered it.
Now I take my exit.
To that do you also object?

'But I think your response,
Should be open to debate.'

First of all...
You approached me.
And the time given...
I did not hesitate.
You wanted to hear something you formulate.
Something in your mind you hoped I would find.
And I'm not wasting any more of my time...
To play a game of ping pong,
With someone who has yet to learn...
The reason or the effective use of the paddle.

And besides,
If I did decide to play...
It would be with someone,
Who had something meaningful to say.
And all you wish to do is to occupy space,
In the hopes someone will come forward...
To assist you in the use of it!

'Don't you think your point of view is a bit arrogant? '

That depends!
Is that your second question?
Or should I be seeking your permission to leave?
And neither question,
Do I seek from you an answer.
But I will give you the benefit...
To decide for yourself,
Which one eventually applies!
How is that?
Enjoy your day.

'You will not be asked back here again! '

Was I not already here when you entered?
Again...
Enjoy your day!

Go on, hold me position, just a hold me position
Just like Jesus Christ in the valley of decision
Devil come along and tru to deceive man through him
Got him plan from the older one
Him had to hold him position, had to hold him position yeh
Hold him position, had to hold him position
Well rhythm like this makes me and me daughter
Go down at the dance, bubble on the corner
When the rhythm is sweet, we a go hold tighter
Rub-adub like this makes you go one
So you hold your position
Say you hold you position aya
Hold your position, say hold your position
Things and time was a getting slow let off the rhythm
Let the good time roll
Don't bother go a slow and stay a back row
I man come to make the rhythm
Just a rock and flow, because me hold me position
Just a hold me position
Special request to 39 Acker Tree, Frontline, everyman on Kime
UB40 say come and rhyme
Yes, Daddy Stone, me in the dance hall style
So we really come to make it versatile
Because one of a kind we come to blow your mind
So you should hold you position
Yes, hold your position, aya
Hold your position, hold your position
Hold Your Position (cont'd) Stones
Skank steady, Skank Steady
I tell you rock the rhythm
You should skank down steady
You know you say, it heavier than lead
Kinda tougher than tough
You know that Jah, Jah covers
Since he stands over us
So hold your position
Hold your position
Move to the east, and you could a move to the west
Lyrics like this Jab know never go jest
Say chunk ice water say right to your chest
Intercity, outer city everywhere the best you better
Hold you position, just hold your position
Hold you position, say hold your position
Well rhythm like this is really so hot
Let off the vilse because a legal shot
Because we hold our position
Yes, we hold our position aya
Hold our position yes, hold our position
Hold on tight never let go
Tee, ta, tee, say them all in a row
Donkey want water, you should hold him

Cause when we a come a dance give you rough, nough, choice
A youth like me should a drive Rolls Royce
Sugar my tea baby, you're irie thought the two of us

Don't You Find Yourself In An Odd Position?

Don't you find yourself in an odd position?

Remember,
It was years ago...
When you mentioned to me,
I could be a bank president...
If I chose to be?

And you went on to gain success in finance.
Only to find you and your position...
Assessed as being outdated and flat broke.
And even with your 'genius' mind...
You can't make a dollar worth more than a dime.

Don't you find yourself in an odd position?

Remember,
It was years ago...
When you mentioned to me,
I could be a bank president...
If I chose to be?

And I chose to see myself happy,
And free of sustained delusions.
And you?
Well...
I can not say,
You did not make your own choices.
You've got your title.
And I've got my life!
With a basicness only happiness,
Has fulfilled.

Don't you find yourself in an odd position?
If not...
You must have adopted fresh delusions.

An Oral Examination

How on Earth was it feasibly possible,
That someone riding on a jetski...
Able to get off because of being standed,
AND walk across two runways...
At one of the busiest airports in the world.
And...
Keep this in mind,
Go undetected.

Remember...
This is an oral examination.
Your responses will determine,
Our decision as to who should be selected...
To become the next security advisor..

Number one?
Your answer is...?

'I did my understudy work at Harvard.
And I obtained my Master's Degree in Physics,
Recently at Yale.'

Oookay! ? And...
Number two?
Can you be a bit 'more' specific?

'I've never been on a jetski.
But I've heard they can go really, really fast.'

Number three?
And please do not take this personally.
If you happen to feel offended...
Don't cuss us out and roll your eyes,
Okay?
We only want to hire the best one for the job.

'I understand.'

Good.
Number three...
It is an accepted myth you people can not swim.
With a preference to lay out on the beach,
To drink beer and eat fried chicken.
Now...
We have reviewed your excellent credentials,
So 'hopefully' you have a response that is more direct.

'Well...
I am willing to bet,
IF the jetskier was stranded...
AND walked across two runways,
Wearing a bright yellow vest...
To expose both arms and chest,
This individual had to have been...
A goodlooking Black or Hispanic man,
Who attracted those viewing him...
Through binoculars.
AND...
Those manning the security system,
Were highly impressed!
Unless...
All were awaiting with expectations,
This was the start of a fashion show.'

Geeessshh!
You ARE correct!
However...
We will have to disqualify you,
Based upon our security concerns.

'Which are...
What? '

Don't take this personally,
But I am sure you will understand.
Because of our immediated security concerns,
We preferand seek...
A caucasian.

'You what? '

To ensure 'our' interests stay prioritized and protected.
However...
If you'd like to apply for a manitenance position,
We can set you up for an interview.
