In Shallow Steps Kept

Contributions made to avert disaster...
Had some chuckling,
As others were seen in uncontrollable laughter.
No one now shows a smirk or grin!
Frozen they are,
In shallow steps kept with heartfelt deceptions.
And donations of insight...
Have now dwindled to scatter in blistering winds.
Even notes left provoking those to move on...
Can not be found,
With explicit marked exits!
And where, when and how...
To place one's feet back on solid ground.

The Guitar Man(a duet)

Girl:
The notes carried by the wind,
Flew straight into my soul.
The 6 strings made of pure perfection.
Surrounded by a small crowd, but he was so alone.

I fell in love with the guitar man.
Fell heels over head, but he didn't turn around.
Accidentally in love, I should've turn around and ran.
But my feet few concrete and I couldn't move my ground.

Boy:
Her face kept coming around,
But I never caught her eye.
Tosses a quarter in the case.
Then she'd walk away.
But I knew I'd see her again.

I was the guitar man, I fell for a girl.
Saw her grin, with her eyes to the ground.
I wish she'd see me, smiling back at her.
I was speechless, so I'll sing her this song.

Girl: Everyday, he takes over my mind.
When the stars come out, he comes out into my dreams.
Boy: At night, she's a shooting star in the sky,
As I sit back on earth wondering if it will ever be.

Girl: I fell in love with the guitar man
Boy: (Oh I fell for her)
Girl: He didn't turn around
Boy: I saw her grin, but her eyes to the ground.
Girl: I'll never turn around and run
Boy: I wish she'd see my smiling.

(at the same time)
Girl: I sit back on earth, wondering if he'll think of me.
Boy: I sit back on earth, wondering if she'll think of me.

Circus Leaving Town

(Written by Phillip Claypool)
Before you draw the final curtain
Before the big top crashes down
Before you pack away my trunk case
I'd like to take a final bow.
One last chance to hear the laughter
And see your face there in the crowd
One last moment in the spotlight
One last chance to be your clown.
I guess you're tired of walking tightropes
Of setting up and tearing down
You want a place to call forever
And rest your feet on solid ground.
Somewhere you've lost that sense of wonder
But that's still the place I'm bound
I'm a storm in search of thunder
I'm just a circus leaving town.
Once we could fill the room with laughter
And fill each other's hearts with joy
Through each trial and disaster
Still we cling to our choice.
To take a path so unforgiving
A road that waits for no one
You know we chose to keep on living
Lord, tell me where did we go wrong.
I guess you're tired of walking tightropes
Of setting up and tearing down
You want a place to call forever
And rest your feet on solid ground.
Don't try to break this spell I'm under
And stop these wheels from spinning around
I'm a storm in search of thunder
Yes, I'm just a circus leaving town.
Some day you'll wake up and wonder
And your heart will start to pound
And you'll long for the thunder
And the kiss is of a clown...

December Walk

The sun casts morning shadows
over the frost covered ground.
Blackbirds search for breakfast,
but there’s nothing to be found

Yesterday’s watery puddles
are now solid and frozen over.
Warm breath turns to ice-cold
as it shows in frosty vapour.

The bird population of the lake
are in the iced reduced pool.
Many are left to skate on the ice,
but the seagulls still rule.

I Got Back On My Feet

This I'm sure will be found...
I'll be around.
No matter what is done,
By those who spite it.

Oh,
This I'm sure will be found...
I'll be around.
No matter what is done,
And who DONT like it...
To hide it.

I've been,
Tripped to the ground and bound.
I've been,
Made not to make a sound.
I've been,
Left alone when down...
But I got back on my feet.

I've been,
Tripped to the ground and bound.
I've been,
Made not to make a sound.
I've been,
Left alone when down...
But I got back on my feet.

Oh,
This I'm sure will be found...
I'll be around.
No matter what is done,
And who DONT like it...
To hide it.

This I'm sure will be found...
I'll be around.
No matter what is done,
By those who spite it.

I've been,
Tripped to the ground and bound.
I've been,
Made not to make a sound.
I've been,
Left alone when down...
But I got back on my feet.

I've been,
Tripped to the ground and bound.
I've been,
Made not to make a sound.
I've been,
Left alone when down...
But I got back on my feet,
Just to beat those feelings of being defeated.
I had to get up,
To beat those feelings of being defeated.
I had to get up,
To beat those feelings of being defeated.
I had to get up,
To beat those feelings of being defeated.

You Move Me

This is how it seems to me
Life is only therapy
Real expensive
And no guarantee
So I lie here on the couch
With my heart hanging out
Frozen solid with fear
Like a rock in the ground
Woman you move me
You give me courage I didn't
know I had
You move me on
I can't go with you
And stay where I am
So you move me on
This is how love was to me
I could look and not see
Going through the emotions
Not knowin' what they mean
And it scared me so much
That I just wouldn't budge
I might have stayed there forever
If not for your touch
Oh but you move me
Out of myself and into the fire
You move me
Now I'm burning with love
And with hope and desire
How you move me
You go whistling in the dark
Making light of it
Making light of it
And I follow with my heart
Laughing all the way
Oh 'cause you move me
You get me dancing and you
make me sing
You move me
Now I'm taking delight
In every little thing
How you move me

This World...

This World We Know May End

Waves wither down
The walls of cliff sides
Earthquakes shake
Ground is splitting
This World We Know May End

Thunder claps
Thunder cracks
Thunder plays the drums of disaster
Lightning takes pictures from the sky
This World We Know May End

Wind speed picks up
Trees and houses are thrown with ease
These tornados are set on spin cycle
Fear of disaster we hide in our basement
This World We Know May End

Everything moving slowly
Blizzard moves in quickly
Blistering cold burns the hope
Frozen to a stop
This World We Know May End

Raging upon wars
Criminal minds advancing
The power within the head
One of them leaving millions dead
This World We Know May End

Wind

There are winds out there, they cause the windows and doors to move.
They have their own language.
This is not as easy as stealing from the blind.

As I walk through forests the trees seem to move behind me.
The splittered woood has not been made into books.
The muddy path pulses, a second birth.

This is not real, these are things inside of me,
ice on branches, sleet on frozen ground, words as rain.
They circle around me like cold, brown leaves.

Now I Nibble

Where are my feet?
Once placed on solid ground.
Why am I now unsure of my steps?
When my eyes were directed,
To fresh places I found.

Why do I question,
My place in this World?
Where are those faces...
Once full with life,
I knew!

What has happened overnight,
When I once felt safe and secure...
My dreams and wishes,
Would stay fixed and motivated.
Strong with appetite!

Now I nibble...
When once accustomed to huge bites.
Now I nibble without a taste that delights.
Now I nibble just to keep my eyes,
From shutting tight!

In Love Alone

And i saw pebbles
out of which love carved
left all alone

All this while
you are not mine
yet am afraid to
loose you

I have always fought
soo hard to imprison
your very presence
yet my fears fought
for your freedom

And in love alone
water becomes thirsty
words become dump
songs get sour throat
listening ignores
patience irrritates
strength tamed
sight folds into blind
moist clouds rain harmattan
the sea a naked desert
mountains coil into valleys
laughter bleeds tears
life births premature death
and strong winds freeze

Alone, in love alone
the steps beneath
my feet trembles
dreams of decay
visits my bones
and my blistering
future time
embraces a shadowy
darkness

Alone, in love alone
i cry out
my mortal grief

That's Not the Way I Groove

Fumbled up and down...
Tackled to the ground and pounded.
Blinded.
To unabled me to find my path.
Eventually I found.
Encouraged to get up,
And off my butt!

Stumbling to a crawling fall..
I again stalled.
With bloodied scraped knees.
But no one believed I knew...
It was more than a shallow ego,
I had inside with something greater to prove.

I'm not filing a complaint,
About how I have lived my life.
Troubles come and go!
This I have learned to know!

I am not looking for a better way,
To breeze through or make look easy.!
I don't pout...
When down and out!
'Cause that's not the way I groove.

I'm not looking for a better way,
To make this easy!
I've been down,
And have been knocked out.
Spotted silent in one place...
But I am laying with plans,
For a smoother move to cruise!

One that has a solid punch!
Updated and perfected to use!

Given Without Ribbons And Bows

Why do you suppose,
They are not giving you the credit owed...
For your contributions made?
And your participation has been so obvious.

'Who knows what cold shoulders hold?
Maybe they are more familiar,
With the covering of their debits.
And my donations have been primarily stolen.'

Perhaps they resent the gifting of your 'presents'?

'Maybe you are right,
Since they were given without ribbons and bows.'

5. Snow Fun

I remember in the fifties when the snow fell very quick
Like big cornflakes crunchy crisp and sparkling white
I remember ground was frozen and it settled very thick
It kept falling down like sheets throughout the night

I remember in the morning as we opened our front door
To a solid wall of snow that filled the frame
I remember how we shouted when it fell upon the floor
Then we tried the back to find that just the same

I remember pipes were frozen no more water solid ice
Not a dropp it was as dry as it could be
I remember all the kids thought the snow was very nice
And our parents making plans to get us free

I remember how the snow fell and dad rushing at the door
Diving forward like a badger in fine fettle
I remember fresh white snow makes a lovely cup of tea
When you scoop it up and boil it in the kettle

I remember it took ages before he found a route
Near exhausted with his face now glowing red
I remember many tunnels making lots of different chutes
We all made with tools that dad got from our shed

Adjournment

My heart is blistering, blistering, blistering
With hot blood like the souls in warfields
Their families left behind crying and weeping
Like beaten children abused by their dads

'Papa beat and whipped me; when
He looked like a soldier with a gun
Didn't know, going to point at me'
Domestic conflicts on a war spree

'I crawled like a baby on knees
Through thorny bushes for success
Melted like a burning candle in warfields'
Decreed battling verve between countries

My heart is blistering, blistering, blistering
With hottest blood; Such filth still occuring.
Leach like are they; Sucking others' blood
Quarrels seem not to end

Are'nt there real rulers?
Reigning to treasure humane justice
Scared! will judgement for ever be adjourned?

Down

Spent all my money on everyone else
Why I just kept handing it out right and left
They didnt appreciate none of my help
I have found
Had me a man
I was so much in love
But he just walked off after using me up
I cried like a baby
It hurt me so much and Im down
Yeah, Im sure down
Chorus:
I know that Im down but Im gonna get up
I just need some time
Just need a little streak of good luck
And you know that its rough when your bitting the dust like I am
You try to do right but tell me where does that get you
People just use you and then they forget you
Well it wont take me long
To get my feet back on solid ground
But now Im down
When I get my life back in order again
Well Ill still be willing to help out my friends
And if you need some body or wished it had been, look around
Ill be spending my money on everyone else
Well Ill just be handing it out right and left
Ill find a new love I wont live by myself
Im just down, now, yeah Im down
Repeat chorus
I know that Im down
But Im bound to get up

Guys Like Me

(Kostas/Treant Summar)
Well, theres no more smokey bars in California,
There aint no wildlife left in Tennessee,
But I keep on living every song Im singing,
And their trying to put an end to guys like me.
All thats left in Bakersfield is a jukebox,
And its haunted by old songs and memories,
Its getting hard to find a place to play my guitar,
And their trying to put an end to guys like me.
Well, Id like to find a place where love surrounds me,
Some town where they dont mind me hanging around,
A place where life dont move to fast,
And what you are is not a thing of the past.
Where you can land your dreams on solid ground,
Well, Im sitting on a barstool down on Broadway,
Waiting for my turn to sing my dreams,
Im just a California boy with my old guitar,
And their trying to put and end to guys like me.
Well, Id like to find a place where love surrounds me,
Some town where they dont mind me hanging around,
A place where life dont move to fast,
And what you are is not a thing of the past.
Where you can land your dreams on solid ground,
Well, Im sitting on a barstool down on Broadway,

Everytime I Go Round Here

Every time I go around here
I see tumbles
Gone is the regal automobile
And ever since Im down
Im down
We used to ride in it
In this frozen town
Any time we had in the time we had
We found
We found
In some frozen place
\parked half off the ground
Every time I go around here
I see tumbles
Through my head and the glass cleared
And the motor rumbled
I dont know if its good that they did make the wheel
But ever since I know
I know
Ive been rolling on
Rolling on to you
Any time we have in the time we have
Well go
We go
To that frozen place
Frozen place that we knew
Every time I go around here
I see tumbles
Through my head and the glass cleared

FOOTLOOSE and FANCY-FREE

Footloose and fancy-free,
that's the way he used to be.
Never tied down to just one place.
Always a smile on his face.
Forever ready to take on the world
wherever it was that it unfurled.

But as so many days went by
he now forgot just how to fly.
His footloose feet were flat on the ground.
His feet were always tired he found.
For they were thickly mired.
No more was he inspired

to move from where he was.
the way a young man does.
For what he had become
almost made him numb.
Couldn't remember how it felt
when he'd been young and svelte.

So now he traveled in his mind,
traveled back so he could find
unburdened days and vitality
to moments where he still could see
himself footloose and fancy-free
and revel in his history.

Beautiful Disaster

He drowns in his dreams
An exquisite extreme I know
He's as damned as he seems
And more Heaven than a heart could hold
And if I tried to save him
My whole world could cave in
It just ain't right
But it just ain't right
Oh and I don't know
I don't know what he's after
But he's so beautiful
Such a beautiful disaster
And if I could hold on
Through the tears and the laughter
Would it be beautiful
Or just a beautiful disaster
He's magic and myth
As strong as what I believe
A tragedy with
More damage than a soul should see
But do I try to change him
So hard not to blame him
Hold me tight
Baby hold me tight
Oh and I don't know
I don't know what he's after
But he's so beautiful
Such a beautiful disaster
And if I could hold on
Through the tears and the laughter
Would it be beautiful
Or just a beautiful disaster
I'm longing for love and the logical
But he's only happy hysterical
I'm searching for some kind of miracle
Waiting so long
Waiting so long
He's soft to the touch
But frayed at the ends he breaks
He's never enough
And still he's more than I can take
Oh and I don't know
I don't know what he's after
But he's so beautiful,
He's such a beautiful disaster
And if I could hold on
Through the tears and the laughter
Would it be beautiful,
Or just a beautiful disaster
He's so beautiful
Oh he's just so beautiful
He's so beautiful
