In My Less Than Tolerant Youth
I don't resent those ignorant.
Since that word could apply to anyone...
Who believe they are in a position,
To condescend someone else.
Because of one's economic status!
Or, of one's color of skin.
We all learn lessons that seem to never end.
I have had great conversations,
With those considered less intelligent.
To leave them with a wealth of knowledge...
That left me seeking them out again!
And wondering 'if'...
I'd be accepted as a friend?
We all learn lessons that seem to never end.
And those who express opinions,
With open mouths and shut ears...
Are often those with minds that are closed,
To thoughts of others...
They oppose.
Have you ever heard those say,
With their own children they can not communicate?
Did you leave them comprehending...
How blessed the children one day will feel?
And their frustrated faces will be replaced,
To express in celebration if they just kept faith!
I've lived to witness miracles...
In my less than tolerant youth.
My mother and father would stop me with a look.
And I would freeze,
Daring to breathe.
Just when my own patience began to slip from lips!
Knowing then it was wiser for me...
To wait and listen!
And not make a big deal of it.
Or I'd find it unbearable for me to sit.
Followed by my mother's promises,
That any healing done would not be quick!
We all learn lessons that seem to never end.
With some being pointless,
To have them repeated again.
I've lived to witness miracles...
In my less than tolerant youth.
With pictures depicted painting a thousand words.
Only a few did I dare to review in pursuit.

Lesson In Love
I'm not proud, I was wrong
and the truth is hard to take
I felt sure we had enough
but our love went overboard
lifeboat lies lost at sea
I've been trying to reach your shore
waves of doubt keep drowning me
All the dreams that we were building
we never fulfilled them
could be better, should be better
for lessons in love
For restless eyes egos burn
and the mold is hard to break
now we've waded in too deep
and love is overboard
heavy hearts token words
all the hopes I ever had
fade like footprints in the sand
All the homes that we were building
we never lived in
could be better, should be better
lessons in love
if we lose the time before us
the future will ignore us
we should use it, we could use it, yeah
Lessons in love
Lost without love...
Lessons in love
When will you ever learn
Lessons in love
When there's nowhere left to turn
Lessons in love
Don't let your spirit burn
Lessons in love
I'll wait 'till you return
All the dreams that we were building
we never fulfilled them
could be better, should be better
for lessons in love
All the homes that we were building
we never lived in
could be better, should be better
lessons in love
if we lose the time before us
the future will ignore us
we should use it, we could use it, yeah

Lessons Of Love
(s. garrett/g. ballard)
See the children play
Listen to the things they say
One-on-one to one another
Theyre just having fun
Finding out it can be done
They dont seperate by cover
Ooh, young hearts
Facing to feel it so naturally
And the flower grows from the seed and
Chorus:
Practice makes perfect and we tryin enough
And were bound to be learning
The lessons of love
Coz were never too old and never too young
To be teaching each other the lessons of love
Got some work to do
Theres so much we can improve
Piece by piece we come together, yeah
In the neighborhood
I know we can make it good
But weve got to make it better
Oh woh oh, inside each of us has a romelody
But weve got to find our harmony
Practice makes perfect and we tryin rnough
And weve got to remember
The lessons of love
Coz were never too old and never too young
To be teaching each other the lessons of love
Bridge:
Imagine how this world could be
If all of us would live in peace
Nothing good comes easily
Together starts with you and me
Yeah, oh yeah, aha
Lessons of love
Practice makes perfect and we tryin enough
And were bound to be learning
The lessons of love
Coz were never too old and never too young
To be teaching each other
Practice makes perfect and we tryin enough
And weve got to remember
The lessons of love
Coz were never too old and never too young
To be teaching each other the lessons of love
Practice makes perfect, try it enough
(oh, never too young, aha)
And weve got to be learning
The lessons of love (lessons of love)
And were never too old and never too young
(to learn the lessons of love)
To be teaching each other
The lessons of love
Oh, never too old, to learn the lessons of love
Oh yeah, lessons of love

Learn Life's Lessons
Some are afraid to hear a 'No'...
And,
Choose to walk away...
With their fears on display.
Backs turned away...
And tears from their eyes exposed.
But if one fears to hear a 'No'...
And 'Go',
What's the use of learning lessons?
A yes will come to those who learn their lessons.
And a 'no' one can let go...
When a life lived is in session.
A yes will come to those who learn their lessons.
And a 'no' one can let go,
When life's in session.
Don't be afraid,
Be brave...
Learn a lesson.
Don't be afraid,
Be brave...
And learn life's lessons.
A yes will come to those who learn their lessons.
And a 'no' one can let go,
When life's in session.
Don't be afraid,
Be brave...
Learn a lesson.
Don't be afraid,
Be brave...
And learn life's lessons.

Lessons from the Sea
I was out one day to learn lessons from the sea.
The sea so deep and wide,
It is used to take you from place to place
It appears that nothing lies inside
My eyes can see what appears to be its end
The margin of the horizon,
But the closer I get, the end disappears
A mystery to everyone
The sea communicates with me, now and then
In a language of its own
I may never understand every word it speaks
Just like the seagulls, above it flown
The lessons learnt at sea, must be taught by the sea
For a substitute, there is One other
If there were no sea, where would the lessons be?
Only through that of my mother
A mother’s love, is like the wide open sea
That never stops to flow,
It matters not, the child you’ve been
Her love never ceases to glow

More Precious Than Rubies
To those who know a Mother's worth,
What words are left to say,
About the one who gave us birth
And loved us day-by-day?
Though rich or poor, she did her best
With what she had at hand,
To nurture those she wanted blessed
For all that God had planned...
Correcting wrongs, maintaining rights,
A sweetheart known to all,
A constant source of true delights,
A comfort should we fall...
Someone who prayed for patience, too,
When faith was all there was...
Beyond the sorrows she went through
When children made her cross...
Must it take years for us to learn
How much each Mum can love,
Before we, too, that love return?
But then, is this enough?
If only we could love Mums more,
What miracles we'd see...
With happy homes, my friend, for sure,
With God-blessed harmony...

Freedom Through Wisdom
Today 'freedom' is a misunderstood word,
There are many ways to translate its worth.
Many thinks they are free, but we can question that,
Each must walk on the yellow brick road to understand the bet.
In this life we are all walking on or beside the yellow brick road,
Since yellow means wisdom, we learn lessons one by one in a special mode
Sometimes we learn, sometimes just stagnate on some way,
Fighting with others, take smoke, drugs, alcohol or as he/she may.
However, if we find the right faith in the Power of the Universe,
By arriving at the end of the yellow road we can transverse.
We'll reborn without dying finding what we always suppressed,
We can love life, forever be free and blessed.
Fearless to face our problems and call them all 'good',
We'll know all are lessons; we have to solve them as we could,
Eventually we understand all was necessary for us to grow,
Become better, stronger, and wiser by overcoming each woe.
We'll find that nobody can force us to understand,
Each of us has to arrive to the answer without force or bend,
Then we can continue walking on the yellow brick road,
In peace, true happiness, learn lessons and hope each will be a light load.

God allows us to experience the low points of life in order to teach us lessons we could not learn in any other way. The way we learn those lessons is not to deny the feelings but to find the meanings underlying them.

The More I learn About Nature
The more I learn about Nature the less I realize I know
About how creatures live in wild state, about how plants and grasses grow
About how flowers close in the evening and open to the morning light
We learn every day from Nature and we learn from what others write.
The more I learn about Nature the more I come to realize
That Nature has a billion lessons each day for us a new surprise
How some trees in Spring get leaves and blossoms and how other trees are evergreen
In Nature there are many lessons and many wonders to be seen.
The more I learn about Nature the less I know I know or so 'twould seem
In Autumn the salmon leaves the ocean to lay her eggs in Inland stream
And her offspring to breed to the stream return and years go by with little change
And ways of Nature never simple and ways of Nature can be strange.
The more I learn about Nature the more self conscious I become
that I must not be clever person in many ways I seem quite dumb
We ought to learn from things around us but I've not learnt much at all
when mother took us from the cradle before we walked we had to crawl
The more I learn about Nature the more and more I seem to see
That Nature can be very complex and far too big a thing for me
And Nature has a billion lessons and the more I learn the less I know I know
About how creatures live in wild state and about how plants and grasses grow.

I learn
I learn when I teach others
I learn when I listen
I learn when I read
I learn from children
I learn from animals
I learn from nature
I learn how to breathe
I learn how to live
I learn how to love
I learn how to be a human being
I'm always learning ...

Un-educating racists
Colours just refracted pitch
as shades of self reflect within
Lessons frail young clean heart cries
lay desolate when sold a sin
Never knew a difference - ever was
but question models higher role?
To preach away inherent love - replaced
to bleach a child-like soul
How blessed was I with empty gift
of never learning - even told
How people turned with blanket eyes
corrupted lessons - mentor cold
What knowledge left for tainted ones?
learn adults - hold a child to see
Not load love lessons - moral choice
un-educate - then child like be
Remove hate layers - overgrown - of rusted
love and gestured smile
Or watch young children play - become
your jury - at God's holy trial

A Victim Of Learning Too Many Lessons
Why is it that it seems,
You express little empathy...
Towards those who are currently,
Suffering from hunger, homelessness.
And a loss of their dignities.
'I began to express that years ago,
When the sight of it would hurt me so.
And I witnessed those with turned up noses.
Pretending what was exposed,
Had been a dilemma others chose.'
But the circumstances today are quite different.
'How and why? '
Those who suffer,
Have lost their homes and valuables.
And images that impressed,
Others in a lesser position...
They never took time to address.
With their empathies expressed.
'And...
Your point is what?
Their suffering done is more effective?
And my empathy given to them,
Should be more reflective? '
But the circumstances today are quite different.
'How and why? '
These people have never experienced,
A life lived like this before.
'Neither had my ancestors.
But guess what? '
What?
'When my ancestors suffered,
They never discriminated by looking away.
And today you can say...
I am a victim of learning too many lessons.
And when I am shown a negligence,
By them expressed...
What am I to do?
Show them I have not been taught by the best? '
But the circumstances today are quite different.
'How and why?
Are these new lessons I have not recognized?
Have those old lessons been changed,
And are now disguised? '

Capistrano Beach
Origianl coastal!
At Capistrano Beach;
Ocean side,
Ocean view,
Let him witness it and let him learn from it;
Skulk, bulk!
Let her witness it and let her learn from it;
Prefect, perfect!
Let us witness it and let us learn from it;
Taught, thought!
To be trained,
to learn from it;
Leave, live!
And like the will to succeed.

My goal was to play drums, but my father made me take piano lessons. He told me I needed to learn to read music first, so I took lessons for six years. I thank God that he made me take those lessons, because it taught me a tremendous amount.

Lessons Are There to Be Taught
The lessons are there,
To be taught.
But too few have the patience to learn.
Believing themselves already with class.
Skipping to miss a comprehension for them,
That never occurs in their minds to stir.
Since a yearning for it stays left unearned.
To leave the value of understanding,
None of their concern.

Can I Get A Witness
Can I get a witness
Maybe you got faith
In where this is going
Maybe Ill pull up the stakes
And Ill be letting go
I could not believe
I could not believe
Can I get a witness, witness x3
You know a lot of times I think how big
And I feel lost on the zag zig now
I could not believe
I could not believe
Can I get a witness, witness x3
And some of these people are just so lame
I dont feel like a pupil
Just a loser on a game show
I just cant believe it
No, I cant believe it
Can I get a witness, witness x3
Im rooting for you
And I toasted when I heard about you
And how you got a witness
A citizen maybe in another place
Here comes the wind
Im a chaser
Its time to leave
Here comes
Its time to leave
Can I get a witness, witness (repeat)

If I Am Not Committed To Its Existence
My life!
And the total living,
Of the experience of it...
Has afforded me the many lessons,
Learned and given...
By being discipline, observant and listening.
Although I admit those teachings,
Did not sink in to begin...
Until my opinions,
Of how others lived their lives...
Beyond and outside of my vision,
Ceased to end my judgements passed.
And that is when my life,
Began a whole new adventure....
On a more personal path.
Without my nose being in someone else's business.
Or believed I had 'all' the answers,
When too many questions I had...
About my own existence that took top position.
And with God's assistance...
I learned how to shut my mouth.
And with my eyes and ears open,
I grew to know when and how to pay attention.
Allowing me to grow to know that which I am still learning.
To live and let live to leave alone if that is God's wish!
Especially if I am not committed to its existence.

In His Eyes! And Ours
Times then were lived,
Within our means.
We valued being clean.
Respected as expected.
This is what everyone did without neglect.
And embraced hygiene!
This was a fact of life known and seen!
Sold on concepts of a desire to learn.
Wanting to comprehend lessons taught...
That broadened our lives with a competitiveness.
With a fear of limits ignorance welcomed.
And we then wished no part of this.
We sought to grow.
And this assisted with an identity dignity presented.
Times then were lived within our means.
To deceive...
Was then thought to be despicable.
To cheat and lie about it,
Did not excite or sit well...
With those who suffered through the consequences,
Of their ways that dismayed.
Today...
People talk the 'walk' but do not walk the talk.
People say they have good intentions.
But leave no evidence of it seen.
Today...
People talk about their standards and values.
As if this is held in an exclusiveness.
And a membership is required for this to be addressed.
Today...
People are obsessed with their possessions.
Their good credit scores and loans they can obtain.
Because they have maintained status given,
Although they keep blemishes hidden...
That may reveal their tainted names.
And they cheat.
Lie.
And deceive!
With lifestyles lived well above their means.
And yet,
When suspected...
Nothing about them is respected.
Nor do the judgements they pass on others...
Keep tax collectors from locking them out,
From foreclosed homes they bragged about.
OR...
Do they 'today' have the means to feed, protect
Or shelter themselves,
In peace.
Times we lived then,
Were lived within our means.
And we were taught to be grateful.
To feel we were blessed.
And we should express this to God.
On a daily basis kept routined!
Like promises we made to ensure we had good hygiene.
And then God...
And only God,
Will make sure our lives lived were lived right!
In His eyes!
And ours.

I Owe Who I Am to You
How grateful I am,
To have lived.
And You have allowed it.
To experience seasons,
With changes that exist.
In an acceptance,
Of Your offerings...
That come and go,
To be as is.
And to be able to express this...
In a completedness,
I do not resist.
With an acknowledgement,
My life on Earth without You...
Would leave me less blessed,
And prehaps without gifts.
How grateful I am,
To have lived.
And You have allowed it.
To lead me to learn and to grow.
Knowing I owe who I am to You!
