I Got And Sought The Best Of Other Estimates
My body wanted to begin,
To breakdown too.
But I refuse to let it.
Or listen to others about their newly discovered,
Aches and doctored pains.
As if an aging like that was to be contained.
I don't think so!
I've got too many miles to go!
I guess I have a respect for life too much,
To just let 'any' mechanic get a look under my hood.
And I got and sought the best of other estimates.
With copies of xrays and scans to put right in their hands.
To keep my engine 'purring' as best as it could.
Knowing the abuse of my youthfulness spent...
I had to make sure,
I received the best recommendations...
To keep my travels on a road,
I am not yet prepared to stall on!
Or Fall to lay flat on my back off track.

My Mind Has More of a Youthfulness
Everyday...
This aging 'thing' seems to speed.
Some agitate their way through it.
Reminding themselves,
Nothing about this process
For them is welcomed!
And they are not pleased,
By anything it leaves.
And as I reflect,
Doing my best to accept this process...
I must admit,
Some of it I am not in total agreement with myself.
Although I go through the motions,
I am doing it with much ease!
Okay! I must say...
Sometimes I do get a bit perturbed and upset.
Especially when someone yells, 'Hey, grandpa.
Do you need assistance to cross the street? '
I grit my teeth with a fake smile I release.
Hmmm...
Is it noticeable,
My gait appears to be slower and more noble?
Everyday...
This aging 'thing' seems to speed!
And I sit on a nearby bench,
To gather my breath and gently breathe.
Wishing the aches and pains that come with aging...
I could put to rest.
Knowing my mind has more of a youthfulness,
That my body, on certain days...
Could care less what my mind forgets!

Bad Brakes
Bad brakes whole car shakes
Looks like Im heading for a breakdown
Black smoke engine beginning to choke
I must be heading for a breakdown
I pulled up for a mouth of coca-cola
Down at samuels cafe
Saw a little spanish lady coming over
Said lady are you going my way she said o-lay
Bad brakes carburettor shakes
Looks like youre heading for a breakdown
Black smoke engine beginning to choke
We must be heading for a breakdown
We hit the road at 90 miles an hour
Heading for frisco bay
She said senor you got cop on your shoulder
I said oh now wed better not stay
We got to get away with our
Bad brakes carburettor shakes
Looks like were heading for a breakdown
He was catching up nose right inside our mirror
When the motor blowed
We climbed out and she began to shiver
Oh no sir please let us go
He said dont you know you got
Bad brakes carburettor shakes
Looks like you bought yourself a breakdown
Black smoke engine beginning to choke
And youve got yourself a breakdown
Bad brakes engine beginning to shake
Looks like weve got ourselves a breakdown
Black smoke engine beginning to choke
We got ourselves a breakdown

One Who Has Sacrificed With A Kept Pace
Something done persistently,
Eventually wears on the body and mind...
Of the one who has given time to find,
Without a resting to qualify this to be done...
Like some who give their recommendations,
Misunderstanding the drive it has taken...
To make sure things are set in place.
They would never understand,
One who has sacrificed with a kept pace.
Well...I do.
And it is not from that which I am doing today.
It is a much needed rest,
From that which has taken years in the making
To create.
Never before considered the connection between,
Aches and pains and the lack of rest.
Until my mind and body began to beg for some.
And getting as much as I can get to just rest,
To prioritize for myself is best.
And aging has made me more aware of this!
Without proper rest,
The body and mind begins to insist it be done.
And quick with a paying of attention.
Oh...
You don't need to shout so loud.
I hear you very clearly.

Breakdown
Breakdown, shakedown again
Breakdown, over you
Breakdown, way down again
Breakdown, over you, over you
Just when our love appeared to be
Growing strong
And just when you believed that
We both belonged
You catch me out a cheating and
Foolin round
You find that Im lyin
I feel like Im dyin
Here I come cryin again
Breakdown, shakedown again
Breakdown, over you
Breakdown, way down again
Breakdown, over you, over you
I put you through this whole
Affair before
I broke it up, you broke it up even more
Then I begged you to patch it all
Up again
Why did you listen to me
You should have let it all be
You shouldnt put all your trust me
Breakdown, shakedown again
Breakdown, over you
Breakdown, way down again
Breakdown, over you, over you
Breakdown, let down again
Breakdown, over you
Breakdown, straight down again
Breakdown, over you, over you

Auctioneer
She didn't want to get pinned down by her prior town
Get me to the train on time, here take this nickel make a dime
Take this penny and make it into a necklace when I leave
What is at the other end, I don't know another friend
Another wife, another morning spent
Listen, listen to the auctioneer
Another engine, another engine
We never wrote the reasons that I need explained
Some things are givens, and others get away
This time its for myself you call it what you may
Okay, we won't say goodbye so long, so much more
Listen to the auctioneer
Another engine, another engine
Listen to the bargain holler
Listen to the barter holler
Listen to the auctioneer
Get me to the train on time here take this nickel make a dime
Take this penny and make it into a necklace when I leave
What is at the other end, an I don't know another friend
Another wife, another morning spent
Listen to the auctioneer
Another engine, another engine
Do I stand the bargain holler?
Listen to the barter holler
Listen to the auctioneer

Down the road
As I walk down these roads I see people crying,
Trying not show their true feeling toward the person they love,
The more I walk on these roads I understand that people have suffered enough heart aches,
Down this road don’t have a clue where it will take me,
Continue knowing that I have a glue on this hand and my other hand holding a knife,
A glue that might give me a clue,
A knife that might end my life,
Yet I have a decision to make which I want the knife or the glue,
Who am I to judge what I want in life that might end it,
I am out of my mind,
I need to start over but there is no where to began it,
I have suffered enough,
I take it back,
Take back all the pain, heart aches, sorrows, agony,
Take it all back,
You have caused me to see them all,
I don’t need this,
You have feed me lies, hate, and hopes,
I am fed up with you,
Please make this go away,
Down the road I go knowing what will this life take me.

The 'Poem A Day' Project ~ Day 218
I stand outside all night cos you wont put me away
My silver body work is a grim kind of grey
You drive me miles and miles every single day
It’s not much fun being your car
You rev too much, burning oil every mile
Keeping on going really is a trial
All I ask is a service once in a while
It’s not much fun being your car
You haven’t cleaned me inside or out for years
When you’re in a hurry you start to grind my gears
If I whine up goes your music so you’re not one who hears
It’s not much fun being your car
You have me roaring down the motorway again
Through the wind and grit and dirt and fumes and rain
Being used so carelessly really is a pain
It’s not much fun being your car
But one day on the road my engine will just die
And you’ll have to wait out in the rain til help comes by
And when the mechanic starts me I will work first try
I can have some fun being your car

Old Relevant Stuff
Flip up an old garage door:
Senses awaken
With the smell of unspent gas
And the sight of oil stains
Upon the floor.
Memories return;
Yea, the paint is a bit thin, (like me) worn and weary,
But, under that old hood
Is still plenty of strength and fury.
Grab an ancient thumb-latch handle on the door
Turn a key in the dash
Bring to life this sleeping dinasour;
Time for a fast blast into the past,
Up through the gears
And back through the years
Life's thrill comes by way of this beast,
On gas, tires and oil it will heartily feast.
-To the driver side
It's like a perfect old friend
Come to visit
Now and then,
Fond old times to recall
When both stood so young
Unfettered and tall.
-To the mechanic side
It was always perfect joy
Spending many a night wrenching
On this overgrown toy.
And for both the only thought it all brought
Was the pure pleasure behind the wheel
To be sought:
The perfect-simple plan
Of machine and man.
A mechanical mellifluous milieu,
Before everything went to hell after 1972.
It was back when Pontiac was alive
And made their own engine,
And the letters G.T.O.
Were truly a legend........
But time and age
All have their wicked ways,
So even the fabled muscle-car
Could not out run its fate
At the hands of pejorative politicians
And ruthless insurance rates;
Those nights of way back when
Shall never return again,
Sadly missed,
But fondly reminisced
Each time, that wild old engine whines.
It's loud, it's quick, and well yes, ... obnoxious,
But always it is proudly made and drove on the backroads
Of the good ol' U.S.
-Thank God, there is no fuel injection
Nor computer to aggravate,
Just a simple carb on a simple V-8.
It's real American steel
With plenty of heft and power you can feel,
Tires to turn
And rubber to burn,
Keeping it all straight on the road
Is the real challenge
Moving along at 10-miles a gallon!
Yet, it's pure passionate pleasure of power
Running down the road at 100 miles per hour!
- And now everytime it rumbles and roars
It all returns
To live once more;
So here again
I'll take it for a spin
And recall the ride
That so simply makes it feel good
Just to be alive.
Yea, it's only a mere thing,
A bit old - a bit rough,
But to a few (such as me)
Who through different eyes do see,
It truly is still some very relevant, beautiful stuff.

Listen To The Eight Track
(mick, Ive got a...)
There must be one million stories in new york city, the naked city, and this is one of em
I live out on the island, and I got problems
My mom dont like me, cause she says I know sultan(? )
Sitting in the cark park, in my old buick skylark
Getting high, getting high,
Getting high on the eight track
Oh, listen to the eight track
Oh, listen to the eight track
Oh, listen to the eight track
Oh, listen to the eight track
Oh it aint easy, when you gotta survive
Keep on giving death, just to survive
Oh get out into the car park, sitting in my own buick skylark in the dark
Oh, n Ill listen to the eight track
Oh, Ill listen to the eight track
Oh, listen to the eight track
Oh, listen to the eight track
Yeah, cant wind it back
Listen to the eight track
In between the seats, in the cracks
Listen to the eight track
Oh sometimes I get a woman in here
And I put on bruce springsteens new double album
And then, just when everythings getting hot
I start turning the volume right down low
Baby, let me snuggle right next to you
You turned to me sweetly, you know what she said,
She said, turn up the eight track
Oh listen to the eight track
Oh listen to the eight track, aint no winding it back
Listen to the eight track
Listen to the eight track
Listen to the eight track
There must have been about a million stories in new york city, the naked city, and this has been one of them!

Shakespearean Sonnet 1 Modernized
Hi, beautiful, having no suitors yet?
Make haste, and of yourself, do make copies,
That when you're dead, the grandchildren you'll get,
Will cause remembrance to your memories:
But you, bent on being a slim beauty,
Subsisted, at length, on your body fat,
Dieting, eating none when there's plenty,
Punishing yourself, severely at that:
You, who are the last show of youthfulness,
And from whose womb new life could have issued,
But now, really wasted to uselessness,
While childless, as siring you've not pursued:
....You all, single, married, abandoned wife,
....Tarry not, live: go make yourself a life.

Perishing But Renewed
Though by illness my life is rent, I am mindful it's only a tent,
I speak of this body of mine, my temporal body for this time,
Though my outward body perish, my life in God I can cherish,
As inward I'm renewed by God, for life above this earthly sod.
My body may fail on the earth, but, my life is in my New Birth,
Now a member of God's Family, I received promises eternally,
Knowing on earth we all may die, real life starts above the sky,
In a place, prepared by Christ, where we begin our Eternal Life.
Our bodies are temporal friend, for this earthly life has its end,
An end indeed we all will see, and then there will be an eternity,
The end won't be the same for all, as we are under Adam's fall,
And some at their last breath, will see not eternal life but death.
However, in Christ I have hope, when in times it's hard to cope,
As this present cancer impedes, my present life with its needs,
My Lord God is always there, helping with each need and care,
Helping me trust in Him not me, as He prepares me for eternity.
For me there's only eternal gain, but my life He too can sustain,
Extending my life, as a mortal man, if that is within God's Plan,
So He would allow my present life, to continue on with my wife,
That we may both depart together, to live with our Lord forever.

The Overnight Aging That Arrives
Ugly doesn't seem to care,
How early in the morning it is found on one's face.
And the entire body,
Feels as if it is being renovated.
With a work in progress taking place.
This aging process is done with more than just grace!
First a reaquaintance slowly begins.
To introduce a youthful mind,
To the 'vessel' that mind refuses to be trapped in.
Then an acceptible reality is encouraged,
With a tolerance one has to respect.
If this is not done with a kindness that reflects...
Folks who happen to see you publicly,
Will say what is believed one expects...
'You look SO good!
For 'your' age.
Not at all like you're ready for the grave.'
~Uh...
Thank you!
For the compliment?
I know what you meant.
I guess.~
And one feels inside someone has lied!
Especially when one knows how long it takes,
Of late...
To get ugly from taking a much longer ride.
With a regimen of ointments and pain killers,
To mask those aches one does not pride!
In the mornings when it is no longer safe,
For even one to find a place to hide...
From the 'overnight' aging that arrives!
And the time it takes for those aches to subside.

Pains Of Predjudice
I have experienced pain
Undeserving and vivid pain
Pains of rejection and pains prejudice
Pain when my rights were wronged.
Pains while others endure undue harm
My heart aches, my mind bruised
From pains of emotional abuse.
I have seen and experienced it
Read about it, still living it.
Pains of prejudice.

The Engine that Keeps Us Running
At the end of the sidewalk
There is a turn
Near the end of the road
There is an exit
Our engines run together
Never turning separately
But in union
And together
We never exit the road we travel
The love we have for one another
Is our engine
An engine that no one can duplicate
That no one can force into exit
That no one can expire
Together
Our fuel never runs out
We are champions of a mass race
Apart
The coolant cannot cool
The steering wheel cannot steer
The wheels cannot turn
The oil starts to leak
And our engine cannot breathe
Until our engines fall apart
And we cannot race together anymore
Into the heavens we will be
Our engines will be known
For their ability to run together
In union
Through all our life
And others will wonder
How, through so many glitches
We have still made it
And we have managed to fix all errors
And others will wonder
How we kept each other running
Through many engine stalls
And through so many leaks
People will wonder
How we always managed to patch those leaks
And with every spark
We have always started up again
Our engines
Are infamous
Are great
Cannot be copied
Cannot be managed by anyone
But ourselves
Without your engine
My engine would be stalled
With a little spark
We are back in the race
The never ending race
That will only keep us side by side
Until the end of our engine life days

Witnessing As I Live
I have never before been given the opportunity,
To rehearse the process of aging.
Some would have others believe,
They are gifted with the expertise.
And already know what it is like.
I don't.
I am witnessing as I live my life...
With a wisdom I have never known.
And mysterious aches I feel in my bones,
As if done to remind me...
'Something' seeks attention and wishes it shown.
I have never before been given the opportunity,
To rehearse the process of aging.
But I must admit,
The process is interesting.
Although...
Being around those who announce their pains,
Is more aggravating than anything else.

Comminication Braekdown
We never walk We never talk
We never find the time To be close again
There it goes again
Communication breakdown
Communication breakdown
Too much concern for money to burn
Too many things to do Now you don't need me
And I don't need you
Communication breakdown
Communication breakdown
One by one They fail Now the leaves our lover
Cling to the ground
Communication breakdown
Communication breakdown
Too much too soon Too much temptation
In a hurry It's a sad situation
Too much worry I can tell Well it's over now
Communication breakdown
Communication breakdown
There it goes
Communication breakdown
Communication breakdown
When it's right, it's all right
When it's wrong, it's all wrong
When it's gone, it's all gone
It's too late
Communication breakdown
Communication breakdown
I can tell Well it's over now
Communication breakdown

Total Breakdown
Total breakdown.
In respect.
Total breakdown.
In discipline one should get.
Total breakdown.
Of relationships.
Keeping one happy and safe...
Would be a miracle to escape,
Any cracks appearing in it.
Total breakdown.
Of societies!
Without outside interference,
To proclaim how they should or should not be.
Total breakdown.
Witnessed in mentalities.
And bad diets can be the reason.
Bad diets can account for most of these.
Total breakdown.
Complete.
With few left to mend,
The inefficiencies.

Stretch and Do
If there are frowns on your brow,
And wrinkles you wish to quickly disappear.
Drink peppermint tea,
On a daily basis continually.
Get rid of that tension.
It's not yours to 'brag' about.
Discuss or mention.
Or there for you alone to carry!
To introduce undo attention.
Let go of this 'stuff' you did not marry.
And for your digestive track?
Try lemon juice in 'boiled' water...
Chilled it and just sit back,
Relax and get your energy on track!
Stretch and do,
Light exercises to get you through.
And within one week...
Someone will approach and ask you,
'What are you doing?
Have you had a facelift, too? '
And any aches and pains,
In your joints that remain...
Try vitamin E in 400 internation units.
For arthritist in your hands, legs and knees!
Listen and try this...
And eventually you will agree,
What I share with you will work!
Tell those 'jerks' who tell you differently,
Don't bother you with nonsense...
Since your life is to be enjoyed,
Not to moan about as they do...
Paying exorbitant fees,
Not to feel as great as you will...
Literally for free!
Like I say...
Allow at least seven days!
And after this period,
You will be amazed how much 'youth'
Has restored the 'you' you knew...
As you age!
