Expect To Hear Dialtone

If a call is placed to another,
And there is a hesitation to speak.
Or say hello to one who expects a response,
After answering the telephone.
Expect to hear dialtone.

Call Me Right Back

For clarification.
You want me to be aware
Of my loneliness...
So you decided to give me a call?

Let me repeat that...
Because there is something,
I am definitely missing!

YOU want ME to be aware
Of MY loneliness...
So YOU decided to give ME a call?

Oooookkkaaaayyy!
Now...
Should I give you a clue,
When YOU get thisclose...
To perfecting irritation?
Or should I give you dialtone,
To improve upon your presentation?

I tell you what!
Why don't you call me right back.
And if your get a busy signal...
Maybe,
Just maybe...
I'm trying to call you?

How's that?
Because IF I should give you dialtone now...
You might misinterpret,
The meaning.
And I don't ever want you to think,
I can be rude.

Invoice

Do I wonder where you are,
When I hear the raindrops fall?
And I call you on your telephone...
With no response to me at all?
Should I understand you will answer me,
The moment you hear my voice?
Or wait until you buy what I say...
And mail you an invoice,
To confirm I'm your choice?

Telephone

(b. edwards/d. miller)
When you feel like you need someone there
Feel like no one really cares
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there
When you feel like you really need love
Ill always be by your side
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there
Everyone needs someone to love
Call me, Ill give you love
When you feel like you need someone there
Feel like no one really cares
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there
Well share a love that will never end
Lean on me and Ill be your friend
In your darkest hour Ill be your light
Like a star shining in the night
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there
Everyone needs someone to love
Call me, and Ill give you love
In my heart, youd have a home
But Ill never leave you alone
When you feel like you need someone there
Feel like no one really cares
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there
When you feel like you really need love
Ill always be by your side
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there
When you feel like you need someone there
Feel like no one really cares
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there

Memory Of Telephone Calls

Are you waiting
for me to call.
All you will hear
is telephone silence.

Telephone silence
is a sound
I always hear.
I fear.
A telephone
is a hated thing
when it
does not ring.

And yet
so often
it has been
our only means
of communication.
The only means
by way of which
I could
communicate
with you.

Your letters
and cards
have given me
past
pleasure and joy.
But also
the sharp
separation
of long
or final goodbyes.

We often
spoke on
the telephone
later cell phones
because we
could not
come to
each others houses.

We could not
cross the threshold
of each others
doorsteps.
We could not
warm ourselves
by the hearthside
of each others company.

And now
the long cold
of winter separation
is upon us.
And now
the long chill
of bitter separation
has come again.

Full of excuses

I didn't telephone a.m.
as you'd be having breakfast then.

I didn't telephone at noon
for fear you might be lunching soon.

I didn't telephone p.m.
I thought you might be sleeping and

I didn't telephone at 8
for dinner in your house is late.

I didn't telephone at 9
for fear this may be T.V. time.

I didn't telephone today
as time just seemed to slip away.

No wonder that we never speak,
perhaps I'll try sometime next week?

Waiting For A Call

The telephone lies silent
It has laryngitis I fear.
I sit staring at it,
Mutely it stares back.
I'd gladly take a call from the double glazing people,
You know the ones who call on spec,
Just to hear a friendly voice.
Is the instrument still working?
I call the speaking clock,
Just to make sure,
Just to hear a voice,
Reverently replacing the receiver.
I watch the clock.
Time crawls.
The silence gnaws at my ears.
And still, yes still,
The telephone lies silent.

Bad Connection

Morning, this morning the curtains are shut
Id ring you in the morning but the phones been cut
Can you hear me, Ive been calling all day
Can you hear me
The radio reporter said the lines all dead
He told me that I oughta write a letter instead
Can you hear me, Ive been calling all day
Can you hear me
Yes Id wish theyd fix the wires cause my baby wont know
That Im leaving in the morning and Im ready to go
Can you hear me
Can you hear me at all
Gotta get the operator, make a telephone call
And if I write a letter it wont get there on time
Ill only reach you baby on the telephone line
Can you hear me, Ive been calling all day
Can you hear me
My cars all ready and my bags are all packed
Im late already and I wont be back
Can you hear me, Ive been calling all day
Can you hear me
Chorus 3x
Can you hear me at all?

Expect Your ………….You!

Expect your friend to be not better than you;
Expect your neighbor to not forgive you;
Expect your country not to goad you;
Expect your siblings to but discourage you;
Expect your children to not care for you;
Expect your spouse to rather hinder you;
Expect your love to always forget you;
Expect your home sometimes to ignore you;
Expect your native place to not honor you;
Expect the world to disregard you;
Expect your enemy to well hate you;
Expect your Maker to much love you;
Expect your God to never forsake you;
Expect your Lord and God to never abandon you.

Hallelujah, I Just Love Him So

Lemme tell you 'bout a boy I know
He's my baby and he lives next door
In the morning when the sun comes up
He brings me coffee in my favorite cup
That's how I know
Hallelujah, I just love him so
When I'm in trouble and I have no friends
I know he'll go with me until the end
Everybody asks me how I know
I smile and tell them that he told me so
That's how I know, yes I know
Hallelujah, I just love him so
When I call him on the telephone
And I tell him that I'm all alone
By the time I count from one to four
I hear him knockin' on my door
In the evenin' when the sun goes down
And there ain't nobody else around
He kisses me and he holds me tight
And tells me "Dixie, everything's alright"
That's how I know, yes I know
Hallelujah, I just love him so
When I call him on the telephone
And I tell him that I'm all alone
By the time I count from one to four
I hear him knockin' on my door

Whale Song

The seas of home
Once teemed with life
But now I drift for miles alone.

I sing but there is no reply-
Have the human’s killed us all?
Am I the last beyond recall?

No, I hear the answering call
Echoing out from miles away
A friendly voice above the storm

From without the depths
The answering songs
are fainter now than ere before.

We live amidst man’s detritus
The heavy metals poison all
Thus our proud line falls.

Respect

If we can not respect another
How can we expect them to respect us
If we can not respect someone’s beliefs
How can we expect them to respect ours
If we can not respect another’s race
How can we expect that race to respect us
If we can not respect others
How can we expect respect in return

Everyone expects respect
No matter who they are
The only way to gain it
Is to start treating everyone
As a friend, a brother, a sister
As part of our extended family
No matter what colour or creed they are
Only then you will start to get
The respect you so dearly crave

Neon Telephone

Maybe she'll call me (Neon telephone)
Maybe she won't (Maybe she won't)
And if she don't (Neon telephone)
I'm gonna lose my mind (This time I'm gonna lose my mind)
It's kinda dark in here (Neon telephone)
I need a light (It's 2 bright)
I could use a sexy situation that would do my body just right
2night I'm gonna lose my mind
Sometimes her pride is like a big tall building
It hides the street that leads 2 a sweet mystery
(Sometimes) Sometimes we blow the chance 2 be so happy (Happy)
If we could only make up our minds
We could have such a good time
I know she wants me (Neon telephone)
I know she cares (I don't care)
Tell me what's stoppin' me (I don't care 2 know)
From runnin' right over there and runnin' my fingers through your hair
I'm goin' crazy, yes I am (Neon telephone)
Why can't U understand? (He needs 2 change)
I can't stop (can't stop) thinkin' about U, baby
This time I'm gonna lose my mind (This time I'm gonna lose it)
Why can't U call me, baby? Pick up the phone
U know your little Prince can't be alone
I need some of your sweet, sweet... oooh!
(Neon telephone)
(I don't care)
(Neon telephone)
Hello
How come U didn't call?
What, U think U're 2 good or something?
Can I talk 2 U?
Are U alone?
Good God

Telephone Line

Hello--how are you
Have you been alright, through all those lonely nights,
Thats what Id say, Id tell you everything,
If youd pick up that telephone.
Hey--how you feelin
Are you still the same
Dont you realize the things we did were all for real not a dream,
I just cant believe
Theyve all faded out of view.
I look into the sky
(the love you need aint gonna see you through.)
And I wonder why
(the little things are finally coming true.)
Chorus
Telephone line, give me some time, Im living in twilight
Telephone line, give me some time, Im living in twilight
O.k. so no--ones answering,
Well cant you just let it ring a little longer
Ill just sit tight, through the shadows of the night
Let it ring for evermore.
Chorus -- repeat

These prison walls that this age of trade has built up round us, we can break down. We can still run free, call to our comrades, and marvel to hear once more, in response to our call, the impassioned chant of the human voice.

Fear Of Death

why do we fear death?
our fear of death is based
in our fear of living, or more,
our fear of not having lived!

life is a calling, an adventure,
a mission, a duty....
the gifts we are given, the
trials and turmoil we go through,
prepare us for what we're called
to do....
each living person's calling is unique...
and no one else can ever judge...
we judge ourselves by what we give,
and how much of our 'selves' we are
willing to risk!

we often have to 'die' in order to live...
die to our mis-conceptions, die to our
clinging, die to our own petty wants....
die to what the world expects... die to
comfort.... die to that which does not last!

what we call hell is the result of not answering
the call.... the choice is ours, day by day,
moment by moment....

dare to live!

Age of Innocence

We dismiss
The backroads
And ride these streets
Unafraid
Resort to
Scraping pain
From our bones
Unashamed

No more the eye upon you
No more the simple bane

Desolation yes
Hesitation no
Desolation yes
Hesitation no
As you might have guessed
All is never shown
Desolation yes
Hesitation no

And in my prayer
I dream alone
A silent speach
To deaf ears
If you want be love
You must be love
But if bleed love
You will die love

No more the eye upon you
Catch me starving out of shame

Desolation yes
Hesitation no
Desolation yes
Hesitation no
As you might have sensed
We won't make it home
Desolation yes
Hesitation no

But for the rites of spring
Come to mean all things
A little taste of what may come
A meer glimpse of what has gone

Cause for the moment we are free
We to find our release
Too young to die
