'What are you doing? '

Sssshh.
Come over here.
Look at that.

'What are they doing? '

I have no idea.
I've never seen it done,
Inside before.

'Me either.
Nothing is on.
No TV, stereo, radio
Computer...
Nothing! '

Did you see that?

'No, what happened? '

While one was talking...
The other one was listening.
Stopped!
And then the other one started.

'Why?
What is that called? '

I see people doing it louder outside.
But I'm usually on my cell or have my iPod.
I block that stuff out.
Lots of kids do that too,
At my school.
But always they are surrounding dudes on the ground,
Fighting!
That's when I have 'Whitney' blasting out her new jam.
Sheeeee's Baaaaaccck!

'How did you get a copy so soon? '

Don't worry about it.
Sssshh...
They're smiling and holding hands.
They are planning to get rid of me...
I just know it.

'Why would your parents want to do that? '

I don't know! !
Don't KILL ME! PLEASE DON'T

~Boy! ? What's wrong with you?
Can't your mother and I have a conversation,
Without you scaring us half to death! ? ~

I'll Keep It Old School

I'll keep it old school, cus that's what's cool
Like back when people would talk face to face
Not on facebook like a bunch of fools

I'll keep it old school like them days when
All the music on the radio was Great!
Not like today with iPod playlists full
Of Lil Wayne and Drake

I'll keep it old school like them good old days
When it was awesome to wear light up shoes
And cargo shorts or ripped up pants
Not like these loser punks nowadays with
Skinny jeans and vans

I'll keep it old school like when parents taught
Their kids how to respect
Not like kids nowadays feeding their brains with
Foul things, what to expect,
Times have changed!

My Current Vision

My school book lies the furthest
Facing me
Completely guilty
I dislike school
school gives me no comfort
Except when leaving
Still I feel guilt
I did not put my full effort forward
The book remains closed
And
The water bottle in front stands out as the school binder presents
With a grey background
I see my poetry journal assignments paper being gently held down but the water bottle with the very corner of it's circle
My iPod cord appearing from under the assignment connects one end to the iPod and another into the computer
The rollercoaster of wires circle around my grinder with a pattern
It would be fun to ride that
My computer is centered
On but unused
Only charging my iPod
I see half a cigarette on the table
Facing away
Completely unappealing
I'll still probably smoke it
I see a bag of weed on the table covering my empty wallet
The wallet looks
Cozy
I see the remnant of my previous high in an ashtray
Now just dust
With a bright blue lighter at the end
I rhyme because I must

Kids are all computer-savvy. Sit down and write to your parents on the computer. And just say, I have some questions and I'm scared. There's some stuff I don't know and I really need to talk to you about sex. Tear it off and put it on their pillow. They'll read it.

Blonde On Blonde

Cats and dogs are coming down
14th street is gonna drown
Everyone else rushing round
Ive got blonde on blonde
On my portable stereo
Its a lullabye
From a giant golden radio
Ive got no time i wanna lose
To people with something to prove
What can you do but let them walk
And make your way down the block
Ive got blonde on blonde
On my portable stereo
Its a lullabye
From a giant golden radio
Its a lullabye
From wonder-womans radio

Come Back Bon Jovi

Tell me whatever happened to the radio
Do they still play the songs you wanna hear
On the stereo
Do you still like the bands you loved a year ago
Would you still like me if we want to be on the radio
Like me, if we were on the radio
Like me, or are they just played-out
Tell me whatever happened to the radio
Do they still play the songs you wanna hear
On the stereo
Do you still like the bands you loved a year ago
Would you still like me if we want to be on the radio

Poem: 'Self-Abandonment

- 9. May.2006 -

The kids at school were mean to her
They called her nasty names
The kids at school abandoned her
Left her out of all their games
The kids at school hurt her badly
With each word that cruelly spoke
The kids at school were so unloving
As they slowly stole her hope
The kids at school were never kind
They put her through unspeakable hell
The kids at school gave up on her
So she gave up on herself…

Revelation

Been ‘bout ten years Shell I been together,
All pretty fine, some ups and downs and whatever
Couple of kids no more had been planned
Fibro house, half an acre of land
Oh yeah, Shell is pregnant which was quite a surprise
Not sure if the house is an adequate size
But, hell, I’m now happy though was worried at first
The area round here’s goin’ from bad unto worse
It’s housing commission and they put the dregs here
Lots of blackfellas with their swearing and beers
They drink on the footpath all times of the day
An' look at us white folk in menacing ways
I’d get rid of ‘em all if only I could
I’ve never yet met an Abo that’s good
They lie and they steal and they’re primitive too
Send them back to the country is what we should do.

Anyway, on this particular night
Shell’s breathing heavy and didn’t feel right
So I called up the doctor who told us to wait
Time the contractions and get ready mate
‘Round ‘bout three thirty we knew it was time
Twenty k’s to the hospital – not a long drive
It was windy that night and the clouds they were low
So we got in the car and drove safe and slow
It was then that the rain came – like being in the shower
What should take ten minutes was taking an hour
The creek burst its banks down near Somersby way
And the radio said there would be big delays
I got on the mobile – quite frantic by now
Then Shell’s waters broke and I didn’t know how
Somehow then it all happened so very quick
But the blood and the screaming made me feel sick
Then all I could hear was a tiny quiet cry
My baby! My baby! I sang to the sky
It was dark on that roadway – nobody around
And the rain it was teeming – we were stuck out of town
The ambulance got there ‘bout a quarter to five
I stayed with the car – I was planning to drive
I now think that it’s strange I stayed with the car
I’d not yet seen my baby – the night had no stars.

“This can’t be my child! ” I screamed at the nurse
“You’ve made a mistake and to make matters worse
This baby is black so just take it away!
Now sort out this cock up or I’ll make you all pay! ”

I woke with a bandage surrounding my head
A drip in my arm in a hospital bed
They gave me sedation and I felt quite numb
Was this all a nightmare? What had I done?
I’d passed clean out in that hospital ward
‘Cos we had the wrong baby and I’d fell on the floor
A sensible doctor then came to see me
Now just a few questions he said patiently
How is my baby? And how is my Shell?
They’re doing quite nicely, he said, very well
Now tell me, the Doctor then asked seriously
Where are your parents and are they healthy?
Why is there a problem? I asked him once more
No, not really a problem just for my records
So, you were adopted? And when would that be?
I told him it was ‘round nineteen seventy three
I’d lived out near Dubbo and my parents were killed
In a car crash or something on a road in the hills
That is your wife’s baby, he said quietly
My blood pressure rose and I started to scream
But it can’t be my child so where’s the bitch been
I’ll kill her! I’ll kill her! That whore’s cheated on me!

I took what they called a paternity test
The lawyer said it was all for the best
I now know the truth and it’s been hard to take
That baby’s my own and was not a mistake
I’d thought I was Irish with some Maltese genes
But I am an Abo – that’s proven it seems
My parents they died just a few years ago
They’d lived in the country – they’d moved out from Dubbo
They thought if adopted then I’d have more chance
Of a prosperous life and improved circumstance
So all of those years I’d been living a lie
Regarding myself as superior white
‘I don’t look like a black man’ I said to the lawyer
‘But then nor do I, would you please sign this form sir’.

Radio Romance

(john duarte/mark paul)
I see you baby
Every single day
Holding on to my best friend
But you dont see me
So I make the same request now
Every single night
Going out from me to you
On the dedication line
I wonder if youre listening
To the words that keep me wishing
That one day Ill be kissing you
Wo wo wo
Radio radio romance
Radio radio romance
Radio radio romance
Radio romance
My secret admiration
I wont reveal
I wouldnt want to hurt no one
By tellin how I feel
The dj knows my voice now
He even knows my choice now
He never says my name
He just says from the one
Who loves you baby
Radio radio romance
Radio radio romance
Radio radio romance
Radio romance
One night youll hear a song
And then youll know just who its from
(rap) I see you baby, every single day
Holding on to my best friend
But you dont see me
I wonder if youre listening
To the words that keep me wishing
That one day Ill be kissing you

They had an accident
And they never noticed anyway
A lack of originality
Couldnt focus on the day
So much for the radio
Everybody sounds the same
Everybody wears the same clothes now
And everybody plays the game
Copycat, copycat, copycat
Copy copy copy copy yourself
Copycat, copycat, copycat
Copy copy copy everyone else
Ive got a great idea
I will change things on my own
I see my vision very clear,
Wouldnt wanna be another clone
So much for the radio, the radio is sad
Sad, sad, sad

Couldnt focus on the day

Fire Island

drivind on the lawn
sleeping on the roof
drinking all the alcohol
all the kids from school
will be naked in the pool
while our parents are on fire island
cranking up the tunes
til the windows break
feeding chocolate to the dog
jumping on the couch
til the featers all come out
while our parents are on fire island
(chorus)
we're old enough by now
to take care of each other
we dont need no babysitter
we dont need no father or mother
we're old enough by now
dont worry about a thing
dont you remember last december
when u went to steamboat springs??
driving on the lawn
sleeping on the roof
drinking aLL the alchol
all the kids from school
will be naked in the pool
while our parents are on fire island
(chorus)
driving on the lawn
sleeping on the roof
dringing all the alcohol
all the kids from school

On the Bus

Stood for ages waiting for the bus
then at last one did finally arrive
as usual it was full to brimming
and as noisy as a Bee Hive.
At the back there were school kids
and one of them was smoking a fag
an old lady told him to put it out
but he refused and called her an old bag.
Thankfully the smoker got off the next stop
but not before giving the lady the V sign
then a drunk bloke got on and sat next to me
and he smelt of stale cigarettes and wine.
He tried to make conversation not just with me
but with all the passengers on the lower deck
he then tried chatting up a teenage girl
who told him he looked a bit like Shrek.
A woman was talking loudly on her mobile phone
saying that her doctor told her not to worry
we all heard about her weight problems
as the doctor told her to cut down on chips and Curry.
So if your looking for inspiration for a poem
or you've writers block and feeling non plus
don't just sit there staring out of the window
do what I just did and hopped on a local Bus!

Why At All I Came To This Earth

Why at all I came to this earth
It must be two years now
Since I am with you all
I really could not make out
How far my parents were happy
On my arrival
I knew I did not get many things
Which I wanted, rather needed
For a total growth
And emotional support
I started noting that
My parents did not like each other
Often they argued on matters
Which were beyond my perception
They too were running short
Of many things, probably
I have two elder sisters
From their talking
I came to know that
Our family was in great trouble
One evening my mom took me from home
And for the first time
We were travelling in a vehicle
Rushing us to a new place
My mom left me with some one
And that some one handed over me
To some other one
Thus I kept on moving from hands to hands
Leaving me to wonder
Where this changing hands will stop
I was a bit comfortable with the
Little girl, the last lap,
Who really attended to my needs
Better than even what my mom did
But some where some thing happened
I started feeling pain on my head
Which persisted and kept on increasing
I could not talk about this
But, cried, cried and cried
The little girl attempted to comfort me
But, it did not relieve my pain
The girl became angry with me
And started beating me
I could not register what went on further
I was in a new environment
Definitely much cleaner and better
Than any of the places I lived so far
All in white
People were attending to me
And giving me what all
They feel I needed
But, here I could not move
All the time in bed
I used to think how nice it will be
If I could spend all my time like this
Things did not happen that way, though
As I could see myself from the above
All these people in white
Keeping busy around me in the bed
I tried to tell them
See, here up, I am very much here
I know, this is death
As my elder sisters told me
You will go up and up
To God's caring hands
Once you die
I am going to Him is what
I understood
But then, tell me
Why at all I came to this earth

World History Honors (Version 1)

Sitting in honors
Waiting for the teacher to start
Looking at my friend as she did her art
Listening to screaming and yelling all around
Turning to see students fighting on the ground
I cover my ears to make it stop
If I listened any longer I knew I would pop
The teacher still outside talking to another
Not watching these kids who act like my brother
What the heck this is World History
How these kids got in here is a mystery

God's Playthings

Although we are like God’s children
But actually we are not
Because no sexual organ
Was involved in the process of creation of souls
The building blocks of everything that exist!
Besides we are not inside God’s womb
We are actually inside God’s mind!

Ideal parents never hurt
Their good children
But God hurts so many
Of His so-called children!
So many people are starving
Day after day!
So many people are suffering
From diseases and injuries!
Natural disasters
Kill so many people every year!

God is not our Mother and Father;
Mother and Father are much more
Affectionate, loving and caring!

Never-the-less God is the Best
Cause He loves most of us so much
Though we are not His children
And we are nothing
But playthings of God!

As the School Bell Rings

Tis sharp two
in the afternoon.
The school bell rings
as the day is done.

After calm comes a storm
and the school ground now
is a turbulent sea -
of children in frenzied activity.

Some are running, some sprinting,
some scampering while some are strolling.
Some are walking towards the gate
while some are squatting on the staircase.

Some are running towards the school bus
while some are looking out for their parents.
Some are being escorted by their teachers
while some are busy chatting with their friends.

Mobile phones are ringing incessantly
and people are talking animatedly.
Bus drivers in buses are waiting impatiently
and the children inside are yelling frantically.

Tis now sharp three
in the afternoon.
Now comes calm after the storm
and the school ground now is a sea of serenity.

Smiling

Everytime she passes by and see’s me smiling,

I bet it kills her everytime.

Those hungry eye’s that follow my everymove,

searching for the eye’s she once looked into.

Those eye’s that completed him,

those eye’s he once knew better than his own.

I’ll just keep smiling,

smiling when everything is wrong or right.

I know it’ll kill you that your not the one holding me at night.

You’ll see pictures and hear stories,

but all you’ll have is memories.

We can dance through these memories a thousand times,

how we stole each other’s hearts and without each other is was just so hard climb-

The tallest tree without you by my side,

but I’m doing alright.

I just keep smiling,

when I know your watching my everymove,

smiling about how much I hate you and I’m happy without you.

When that song on the radio plays,

I know your thinking of me,

but I’m just a memory and your just a simile I use in a sad song.

That’s why I’m smiling,

when everything is alright or just wrong.

Those hungry eye’s that follow my everymove,

searching for the eye’s she once looked into.

Those eye’s that completed her,

those eye’s he once knew better than his own.

…Our eye’s will meet again.

Talking Trash on South Beach

"Talking Trash on South Beach"

When I first mentioned
I was getting out of Cleveland
to join another team
with a few players I believed in (I heard a lot rumors)
folks were saying we couldn't win
no one would believe in us
Chicago and Boston was unbeatable
we lack cohesiveness
and it only got worse
as sub-par teams started beating us…..
but we came together as a team
found our stride,
started believing in one another
pushed our egos aside
we stopped listening to rumors
played our own tune
four and a half months later
we were playing in June (for a championship)
we didn't get to win it all
I guess it was way too soon
but one thing is for certain
we proved all those naysayers wrong.
