A More Reasonable Position

Why have all the flagpoles,
Beed reduced to stand...
At half of their normal height?

'To keep the appearance of lowering the flag,
To half mast at each recurring tragedy.
It is believed that the doing of this,
Helps to reduce the actual frequency...
Of these occurrences.

And...
The act of doing this was determined to be,
More practical.
Instead of pressuring the people,
To accept today's realities.
With an elimination of forcing them to face their dilemmas,
Headon! '

Yeah.
I can see that.
That is a more reasonable position to take.
It relieves those of replacing their delusions.

Skyward With Embarrassment

The face goes beetroot red,
skyward goes the eyes
when someone says.
“You flies are flying half-mast.”
That someone who says it
is always someone of the opposite sex.
It is never a nudge and a wink
from one of your friends
so you can hide yourself to do up your zip.
It has to be a member of the opposite sex.
They must stand outside the toilet
just waiting for someone to appear,
then in a voice that could be heard
across the Atlantic just so everyone can hear.
“Hey mister your flying half-mast.”
A quick glance,
face goes a beetroot red,
hands fumble for the zip
as big smiles come from all around
and the voice box is now long gone.
You shrink away to hide
until the beetroot red face
returns to normal again,
then continue on your way,
but stop and look around
as the voice box has caught another one
who looks skyward with embarrassment.

Half The World

Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson
Half the world hates
What half the world does every day
Half the world waits
While half gets on with it anyway
Half the world lives
Half the world makes
Half the world gives
While the other half takes
Half the world is
Half the world was
Half the world thinks
While the other half does
Half the world talks
With half a mind on what they say
Half the world walks
With half a mind to run away
Half the world lies
Half the world learns
Half the world flies
As half the world turns
Half the world cries
Half the world laughs
Half the world tries
To be the other half
Half of us divided like a torn-up photograph half of us are
Trying to reach the other half
Half the world cares
While half the world is wasting the day
Half the world shares
While half the world is stealing away

Half The World

Half the world lives,
Half the world makes,
Half the world gives
While the other half takes.

Half the world hates,
Half the world runs away,
Half the world's late,
Half the world praises the day.

Half the world is,
Half the world was,
Half the world thinks,
Half the world does.

Half the world lies,
Half the world burns,
Half the world cries
While the other half turns.

Half the world cares,
Half the world weeps,
Half the world shares,
Half the world keeps.

Half the world sings,
Half the world laughs,
Half the world brings,
Half the world tries to be the other half.

End.

Our Own Flag

They mustered us up with a royal din,
In wearisome weeks of drought.
Ere ever half of the crops were in,
Or the half of the sheds cut out.

'Twas down with the saddle and spurs and whip
The swagman dropped his swag.
And we hurried us off to the outbound ship
To fight for the English flag.

The English flag, it is ours in sooth
We stand by it wrong or right.
But deep in our hearts is the honest truth
We fought for the sake of a fight.

And the English flag may flutter and wave
Where the World-wide Oceans toss,
But the flag the Australian dies to save
Is the flag of the Southern Cross.

If ever they want us to stand the brunt
Of a hard-faught, grim campaign,
We will carry our own flag up to the front
When we go to the wars again.

People Are Attempting to Escape from Facts

A comfort in passing judgement on others,
Has its way of returning this activity...
Right back to those detractors.

For a long time it was believed the Earth was flat.
And there were scores of people,
Who would despise others...
Opposing with a difference of opinion.

In fact...
People were expected to keep their mouths closed.
As if to be kept sealed and 'labelled'.
Entrapped to pay for their lack of conformity.

Today...
Something about that has changed.

Today?
People are attempting to escape from facts...
To have others pay to enhance delusions,
That will never become realities.

The Brewing Scent Of Freshly Made Coffee

It is no longer a matter of them telling the truth.
No...It isn't!
And it should be a concern for those who know it,
As it exists in their gut and as it has to them meant,
From observation, felt and experienced as presented...
That those who use other than truth to tell,
Actually are not convinced others are aware they lie.
Since alibis and excuses behind which they hide,
Has been something done to do all of their lives.
And their delusions have become their defense mechanisms.

But today,
Those embellishments exaggerated are easily chased away.
And facing consequences as a result of their defenses,
Has created their dilemmas and conflicts with their entitlements.

Some people will create right in the face of others,
There own versions of what is going on.
With eyes are pure as those seen coming from children.
And this isn't given as an option to express,
Their difference of opinion to address.
This comes from refusing to accept the absence of alternatives.
And what has taken place is immediately from them mentally erased.
Leaving feelings of abandonment,
By those who have been fantasized all their lives.
That is why they protest with a nonacceptance of a reality that is!
Although those realities as they are have never before to them been felt.

And no one seems to acknowledge,
The brewing scent of freshly made coffee...
There!
And everywhere in the air for all to get a deep whiff of it.

'That 'smell'?
What is it? '

~I have not a clue.~

All Night Stand

All night stand,
Been around seen a thousand places.
All night stand,
Seen a good half a million faces.
Because Ive lived this life,
And I made it for myself.
If you scandalize my name,
Then you scandalize yourself.
Because Im not to blame,
For the things that Ive been doing.
You all say that Im bad,
And Ill only end in ruin.
All night stand,
With a different girl each night.
All night stand,
With two hundred miles to ride.
But I wont give it up,
As long as I can make the bread.
When I do, I shall stop,
Close my eyes and go to bed.
And forget all this night[? ],
And all the people on my back.
Once Im free from these chains,
I aint never looking back.
All night stand,
Been around seen a million faces, yeah.
All night stand,
Seen a good half a million places, yeah.
All night stand,
Cant get these people off my back.
All night stand,
Ten percent for this and that.
All night stand,
All night stand.

Monuments And Melodies

My hands are trembling
And my eyes are on fire
And this house is crumbling
And I've been left out all the while
Yeah, yeah
You make me happy
You magnify my better half
You make me certain
Though all I have today is your photograph
My past is perilous
Each scar I wear sings
Monuments to where I have been
And melodies to wear I am going
Yeah, yeah
You make me happy
You magnify my better half
You make me certain
Though all I have today is your photograph
When will I see you again?
Still-life can only go so far
I need you in front of me
To say my name
Say it to me, say it to me
Say it to me, I want you the way you are
The way you are
Yeah, yeah
You make me happy
You magnify my better half
You make me certain
Though all I have today is your photograph
You make me happy
You make me happy
You make me happy
Oh

Half Mass

american soldiers were slaughtered
on a military base today.
by an arab american officer
who held everyone at bay.

and for these departed soldiers
all of america will pray.
but a question was put to me
and i was'nt sure just what to say.

if they are flying the american flag
at half mass for those who died today
what about the ones who've given their lives
to protect the american way?

why should we fly the flag at half mass
just for those who died at FORT HOOD.
it should be for all soldiers
and they would argue if they could.

keep our flags at half mass for all
that put their lives at stake.
there will be many more that we will honor
and their families at their wakes.

we should also put a yellow ribbon
on our red, white, and blue
until our soldiers come home
and this fighting is finally through.

Give Me All Night

(carly simon/gerard mcmahon)
I have no need of half of anything
No half time, no half of a mans attention
Give me all the earth and sky
And at the same time add a new dimension
Half the truth is of no use
Give it all, give it all to me
I can stand it
I am strong that way
Give me all night
Give me the full moon
And if I cant take the whole of you
Give it to me anyway
Give me all night
till the last star fades
And if you cant take my heart and soul
Take it from me anyway
Dont give me fountains, I need waterfalls
And, when I cry my tearsll fill an ocean
The pain of love Ill accept it all
As long as youll join me in that emotion
Half of lovin is no fun
Give it all, give it all to me
I can stand it
I am strong that way
Dont leave me guessing alone
Dont walk me half the way home
You can do that tomorrow
Just give me give me all night.

I Am Brave in Heaven

At the beginning my stones reflected
The town in the middle of heaven;
Half an acre was blessed by bravery,
One other half reflected the pillars of duty.
The natural imagination stemmed from countries,
A convulsive heart gained much to reduce.
The grass greenly admired the sky of heaven,
The sea of a world it contained.
The rivers of milk and honey seemed splendid,
As the initial speciality reduced
To form crystals unshakeable,
Towards the horizon so dazzling and boastful.

Hero and Tracks

train tracks,
or just tracks...
either way,
going nowhere.

girl on his lap
not wearing panties;
he thinks he's god,
or at least bulletproof.

gonna ship out tomorrow,
got 'hero' written on his forehead.
she's got 'gonna crash' down
inside her, written with invisible ink...

gonna stand by a hero's grave
stand alone in the pouring rain...
gonna stand on a street corner,
just feeding them tracks.

flag flying at half mast...
going nowhere!

Nashville

As I drive
From your pearly gates
I realize that I just cant stay
All those mountains
They kept you locked inside
And hid the truth
From my slighted eyes
I came to you with a half-open heart
Dreams upon my back
Illusions of a brand new start
Nashville
Cant I carry the load
Is it my fault that
I cant reap what I sow
Nashville
Did you give me half a chance
With your southern style
And your hidden dance away
You dance away
And you dance away
All these voices
They whisper through my walls
They talk of falling fast
They say Im losing it all
They say Im running blind
To love of my own
But Ill be walking proud
Im saving what I still own
I fell on my knees to kiss your land
But you are so far down
And I cant even see to stand
In nashville
You forgot the human race
You see with half a mind
What colors hide the face
Nashville
Id like to know your fate
Id like to stay a while
But Ive seen your lowered states today
Ive seen em today
Honey I swear Ive seen em today
Now Im leaving
Ive got all these debts to pay
You know we all have our dues
Ill pay em some other place
Ah I never ask that you pay me back
We all arrive with more
I left with less than I had
Your town is made for people passing through
A last chance for a cause
I thought I knew
But nashville
You tell me what you are gonna do
With all your southern style
Itll never pull you through
Nashville
I cant place no blame
But if you forget my face
Ill never call your name again
No never again
No never again
I fell on my knees to kiss your land
But you are so far down
And I cant even see to stand
In nashville
You forgot the human race
You see with half a mind
What colors hide the face
Nashville
Id like to know your fate
Id like to stay a while
But Ive seen your lowered states today
Ive seen em today
Honey I swear Ive seen em today
Im running away Im running away
Im running Im running
Im running away

Mysteriously' Blown A Fuse

The biggest problem people keep in their minds,
Not to leave...
And they believe others seek and need,
Is the giving of their unsolicited opinion.
From a point of view that skips over,
An overdue self examination mired in deep denial.
And entangled with delusions to praise,
Most today are afraid to eliminate.

Few on the move and with business prioritized to do,
Are not doing this with wishes to please anyone.
That is...
Anyone not within the scope of their mutually shared,
Interdependent necessity deemed dependable....
Between themselves to agree.

And those deluged with requests,
To have their noses stuck up in affairs not theirs...
Aren't dealing with reality.
And that's where the core of their dilemmas lie.
As if on-a-call and stand-by status.
With a staying in a mental decay that wont go away,
Because of a fear someone will judge...
With an increasing dose of their undiagnosed anxieties,
Releasing their insanities to validate by those,
Already exposing to show their own 'abnormalities'.
To excuse when one of them has 'mysteriously' blown a fuse!

'He represents standards we value.
How could this ever happen? '

Uh...let's see.
Could it be...
Those standards we value?

'Naw.
Not here!
That's not a possibility.
Where can you honestly say,
You see the appearance of any flaws? '

A Day Like Any Other

Such insignificance: a glance
at your record on the doctor's desk
or a letter not meant for you.
How could you have known? It's not true
that your life passes before you
in rapid motion, but your watch
suddenly ticks like an amplified heart,
the hands freezing against a white
that is a judgment. Otherwise nothing.
The face in the mirror is still yours.
Two men pass on the sidewalk
and do not stare at your window.
Your room is silent, the plants
locked inside their mysterious lives
as always. The queen-of-the-night
refuses to bloom, does not accept
your definition. It makes no sense,
your scanning the street for a traffic snarl,
a new crack in the pavement,
a flag at half-mast -- signs
of some disturbance in the world
because your friend, the morning sun,
has turned its dark side toward you.

ONLY HALF THE FOLK VOTE Apr 17th,2011

We should be ashamed of a system where less than half the folk vote,
Something like what a Middle East despot dictator might promote,
The Australians are required to vote or they get fined,
Makes for a more democratic system if you don’t mind.

It seems to me that our politicians are reluctant to change,
We have a perfect democracy, they say, so why rearrange?
Then if only half the people bother to vote, then that’s good,
The parties – not the people have control; is that understood?

And why would our politicians be so reluctant to change?
Doesn’t seem normal to me, in fact it really seems quite strange,
Where less than half the people control who gets elected,
Am I missing something here or am I just not connected.

Scent Of A Woman

Now woman...scent of a woman
a man don't add up to much, next to a woman
a man can't ever forget the taste of a woman
a man is half the test, a man is half the best
a man can't understand the reasons why
a man's just a day in the life of a woman
just a few mintues a night to a woman
see what a woman can do
to the man inside of you
it's more than the sum of the sun and the moon
well a man is a man is a hell of a man
a man ain't a man in a one night stand
a man just don't stack up next to a woman
a man can't see what a woman can do
a man is no man hiding next to you
a man don't add up to much next to a woman
oohhh...the scent of a woman
the world would never be, except for a woman
it's hard for a man to see what makes a woman
even harder to impress, cause she expects the best
she never makes it easy to pass the test
well a man is a man is a hell of a man
a man ain't a man in a one night stand
a man just won't stack up next to a woman
a man can't do what a woman can do
a man is not a man lying next to you
and man will just give up next to a woman
oh yeah....here she comes now (here she comes now, she comes now, here she comes now)
here she comes now (here she comes now, she comes now, here she comes now)
well a man is a man is a hell of a man
a man ain't a man in a one night stand
a man just won't stack up next to a woman
a man can't do what a woman can do
a man is a man if he can get to you
all a man wants to do is get to a woman, yeah
yeah yeah x 16
yeah...the scent of a woman

Baby, You're A Trip

I know what people say
They say U don't know how 2 love
But I want U anyway
U're like a drug and I can't get enough
U'd be great in motion pictures
Cuz baby, U really got me blind
U're the only one I wanna see
U're the only one that does it 2 me every time
Baby, U're an ocean that's 2 wide 2 cross
And baby, U're the cross that's 2 deep 2 bear
Baby, U're the star that's 2 far away
Baby, U're a trip and a half, but I don't care
I know what people think
They think I'm a star struck little fool
Baby, U could be flat broke
I'd still be crazy 4 U
And I know that I'm in love
Cuz I'd change my whole life just 2 make U smile
And I still can't have U when I want
But when I do it's only 4 a little while
Baby, U're an ocean that's 2 wide 2 cross
Baby, U're the cross that's 2 deep 2 bear
Baby, U're the star that's 2 far away
Baby, U're a trip and a half, but I don't care
U see, it's in my diet
Something in the water don't compute
Baby, I'm quite happy after U give me love
U can see who's the fool
U're, U're an ocean 2 wide 2 cross
(Baby, U're an ocean that's 2 wide 2 cross)
(Baby, U're the cross that's 2 deep 2 bear)
U are the star that's 2 far away
(Baby, U're the star that's 2 far away)
(Baby, U're a trip, I don't care)
U're a trip and a half, a trip and a half, half
(Baby, U're a trip) {repeat in BG}
Oh yeah
U're a trip, yeah, and a half
I don't, I don't, I don't care, I don't care
Baby, baby, no no
U're a trip and a half, baby
Trip and a half
I'd do anything U want me 2 do, baby
I'd change my life 4 U, U
U are the star who's much 2 far away
I don't care cuz I.. I.. I.. I love U, love U, baby, oh yes
Yeah, yeah, yeah
U're a trip and a half, a half
U're a trip and a half
I.. I know those people say
They say U don't know how 2 love
But I want U anyway, baby, U're like a drug
I can't get enough cuz U
U'd be great in motion pictures, child
Cuz U really got me blind
U'd be the only one I wanna see
Only one that done it every time
I'd do the do with U
U're like an ocean much 2 wide 2 cross
U are the cross that's much 2 deep 2 bear
