A Donkey In Milwaukee

I've spent too many nights,
Wondering who I am.
And why am I not a termite,
A rabbit or a bear.

Could I be a tree delusioned?
Or a hippopotamus,
Hypnotized.
I'm told I walk as if,
I waddle like a duck...
With pride.
Oh my!
Oh!

I've spent too many nights,
Wondering who I am.
And why am I not a termite,
A rabbit or a bear.

And 'if' my parents weren't who they were...
Would I be,
Here?
Or...
Would I be a monkey,
In despair!
Or...
A donkey in Milwaukee,
Without...
A care!

About Brother Rabbit.

Brother Rabbit and Brother Terrapin wanted to run round a tree.
They went to Brother Bear and asked him to be the referee.
He said to Brother Terrapin, “You win if you’re the first to take the stone! ”
Brother Rabbit ran and won as Brother Terrapin could only go,
He cried, “Brother Rabbit has run, but has he really won?
Look here, my stone’s on me, so I’m number one! ”

When Brother Fox and Brother Rabbit meet,
Brother Fox always tries to eat
Brother Rabbit who often thinks how
To laugh at Brother Fox. Now
Brother Rabbit said, “Have we met, Brother? Hi! ”
“Oh! I haven’t had lunch”, Brother Fox replied.
“But when we yesterday met,
You also said that.
Poor Brother Fox had no lunch,
Then have for it grass or a branch”.

Brother Rabbit’s taught Brother Wolf a lesson.
He’s done it to amuse his little son.
Now, Brother Wolf’s in a cage.
Nothing he can change.
Yesterday he ate meat in a trap,
And Brother Rabbit didn’t let
Him run out, he locked him then,
He taught him and needn’t teach again.

The New Duckling

'I want to be new,' said the duckling.
'O, ho!' said the wise old owl,
While the guinea-hen cluttered off chuckling
To tell all the rest of the fowl.

'I should like a more elegant figure,'
That child of a duck went on.
'I should like to grow bigger and bigger,
Until I could swallow a swan.

'I _won't_ be the bond slave of habit,
I _won't_ have these webs on my toes.
I want to run round like a rabbit,
A rabbit as red as a rose.

'I _don't_ want to waddle like mother,
Or quack like my silly old dad.
I want to be utterly other,
And _frightfully_ modern and mad.'

'Do you know,' said the turkey, 'you're quacking!
There's a fox creeping up thro' the rye;
And, if you're not utterly lacking,
You'll make for that duck-pond. Good-bye!'

'I won't,' said the duckling. 'I'll lift him
A beautiful song, like a sheep;
And when I have--as it were--biffed him,
I'll give him my feathers to keep.'

Now the curious end of this fable,
So far as the rest ascertained,
Though they searched from the barn to the stable,
Was that _only his feathers remained_.

So he _wasn't_ the bond slave of habit,
And he _didn't_ have webs on his toes;
And _perhaps_ he runs round like a rabbit,
A rabbit as red as a rose.

Let Us Be Friendly With Everybody!

Rabbit and Tortoise
Went for a race;

Envy villain rabbit
Threw the stone at Hero Rabbit;

Hero Rabbit's leg got broken,
Limping Rabbit couldn't run fast!

Hero Rabbit lost the match,
This is how Tortoise won the race.

Lesson is, 'Don't have enmity'
Let us be friendly with everybody!

African Rhythm

The foes beat the
drum of prejudice,
the Deity will not let
it sound; if the Deity
lets it sound, they
will be the one to
dance to the rhythm.
The termite only aspires:
no termite can have
the stone pulverized.
Their malicious
thoughts have only become
our luck.

Market Square

I had a penny,
A bright new penny,
I took my penny
To the market square.
I wanted a rabbit,
A little brown rabbit,
And I looked for a rabbit
'Most everywhere.

For I went to the stall where they sold sweet lavender
("Only a penny for a bunch of lavender!").
"Have you got a rabbit, 'cos I don't want lavender?"
But they hadn't got a rabbit, not anywhere there.

I had a penny,
And I had another penny,
I took my pennies
To the market square.
I did want a rabbit,
A little baby rabbit,
And I looked for rabbits
'Most everywhere.

And I went to the stall where they sold fresh mackerel
("Now then! Tuppence for a fresh-caught mackerel!").
"Have you got a rabbit, 'cos I don't like mackerel?"
But they hadn't got a rabbit, not anywhere there.

I found a sixpence,
A little white sixpence.
I took it in my hand
To the market square.
I was buying my rabbit
I do like rabbits),
And I looked for my rabbit
'Most everywhere.

So I went to the stall where they sold fine saucepans
("Walk up, walk up, sixpence for a saucepan!").
"Could I have a rabbit, 'cos we've got two saucepans?"
But they hadn't got a rabbit, not anywhere there.

I had nuffin',
No, I hadn't got nuffin',
So I didn't go down
To the market square;
But I walked on the common,
The old-gold common...
And I saw little rabbits
'Most everywhere!

So I'm sorry for the people who sell fine saucepans,
I'm sorry for the people who sell fresh mackerel,
I'm sorry for the people who sell sweet lavender,
'Cos they haven't got a rabbit, not anywhere there!

Where Am I When I'm Wondering

Your time is that time of mine,
I find most times in my mind.
Sometimes when you come I am there,
Awaiting patiently for you to appear.

Your time is that time of mine,
I find most times in my mind.
Awaken from deep sleep I do,
Knowing I'm sitting in your mind there too.

Most times my time is spent wondering,
If your time spent are thoughts of me?
And if they are not,
What thoughts are they?
And where I am when they drift away?

Your time is that time of mine,
I find most times in my mind.
Sometimes when you come I am there,
Awaiting patiently for you to appear.

Your time is that time of mine,
I find most times in my mind.
Awaken from deep sleep I do,
Knowing I'm sitting in your mind there too.

Most times my time is spent wondering,
If your time spent are thoughts of me?
And if they are not,
What thoughts are they?
And where am I when they drift away?
Drift away
Drift away
And where am I when they,
Drift away
Drift away
Drift away
And where am I when they,
Drift away
Drift away
Drift away
And where am I
When my time is spent,
Wondering
Wondering
And where am I
When my time is spent,
Wondering
Wondering
And where am I
When my time is spent,
Wondering
Wondering
Where am I when I'm wondering,
Of your thoughts when they drift away.
Drift away
Drift away.

Believe In Me

(myles goodwyn)
Published by summerlea music, ltd. - bmi
I woke this morning, from a dream I had of you
Of a sunny morning, sunshine and dew
Turn your head around, you know just what to do
Its those summer nights that I spent with you
Walk on (walk on), and believe in me
And help us find the love you know we need
Walk on, and believe in me
And help us find the love you know we need
In the evening, the wind can set you free
Theres a faith that grew, and stayed with me
Turn your head around, you know just what to do
Its those summer nights that I spent with you
Can you hear the water splashing
And grover tryin to have his own way
We stood there laughing, like a child who loves to run
And its just begun, its just begun, to set us free
Walk on (walk on), and believe in me
And help us find the love you know we need
Walk on, and believe in me
And help us find the love you know we need

Nothing Short Of Dying

(Travis Tritt)
I should've told her more I loved her
I should've spent more time at home
But should haves really aren't important
Since the fact is now she's gone
I wish I'd listened to my conscience
When it said 'don't let her go'
And if she's wondering how I'm doing
Well, I think she oughta know
(That/And) I find myself praying
More than I ever did before
And I find my heart is breaking
Each time her memory slams the door
And I find myself crying
And trying to hold on
'Cause there ain't nothing short of dying
That's worse than being left alone
I thought I'd be just fine without her
I'd be happy a free man
But the hurtin' side of lonesome
Is what I didn't understand
And the lessons that I'm learning
Lord, I'm learning awful well
'Cause nights I used to spend in Heaven
Have been replaced by nights of Hell
Repeat Chorus
There ain't nothing short of dying
That's worse than being left alone

A child so pure, down in the hush
Run, run rabbit, run away
Hey, hey, hey, hey

Watching and Following Behind

See!
I told you he wasn't about anything.

'Yeah...
You are right.
And after fourty or more years...
You have finally found 'something'
To prove your assessment.
And he has not changed his direction,
At all.

Now that you have succeeded,
Perhaps you can begin living your own life.
If any of it is left you can say can be lived!
Since you have spent most of it,
Watching and following behind...
In his footsteps.
And most of it certainly,
Can be said has been positive! '

But what will I do?
Since that has been my occupation!
And he seems not to care,
He has 'that' one negative blemish to bear.

'Has it ever occurred to you...
He has probably done that,
To attract more fools like you?
Afterall,
He has spent years doing what he does.
And in public view! '

While walking beside
the river the deer gets a

so he runs in a local

He see's the rabbit

Summer Night

On a breezy summer night
when love is in the air,
sits a sad and lonely man
with a lonely, lonely stare.
What seems to be vacant eyes
are eyes that remember where
he spent his summer nights in love
and never had a care.

His mind is filled with nights he spent
with the one that was his own.
The summer breezes blew her hair,
the strands of it windblown.
And now the heat is stifling
as he pictures her young face.
Now all his nights are endless,
timeless, endless space.

So he sits on a summer night alone
with memories that won't leave
and stares vacantly at lovers
that makes his heart still grieve.
For summer has never been the same,
nor will it ever be.
It's only for present lovers,
not for he and she.

The Trip

Like an unripe melon
Like a conquer Magellan
Like a handy capped Helen Keller
There is a moonster in the cellar
He has been there since last November
I was once a member-
Of his palace
Until I was hit in the head with a mallet

Creeping along the halls
I have spotted the moonster in conversation with the white rabbit
Me thinks that white rabbit has a nasty habit-
Of being late
Last time they nearly locked the gate
Is his clock too slow?
Or is telling time his foe?
At least the moonster and purple tiger know

Acid is a trip that is not a trick for kids
But the rabbits white hair show great age
Maybe his mind is like that of a mage
I saw him once pull himself out of his own hat
Very impress for a magician with a assistant gnat
He buzzes around the rabbit’s head, a dark shade of blue
The rabbit does not reek, I have seen him use his wife’s shampoo

If I may take the time
I must say for a rabbit his wife is a dime
I even saw her and purple tiger in the shower at the same time
Of course the white rabbit was too late to catch them of this crime
Just then I told the purple tiger not to eat the white rabbit or the Chinese Girl
“She is your world! ”
You just don’t know it and she will not show it
So he devoured the loaf of bread instead

Friends For Tea

Friends For Tea

This morning by the river I saw an enormous snail shell,
and no one was at home as far as I could tell.
Anyway, I knocked three times and then twice more,
and then a sleepy lob eared rabbit came to the door.

“What do you want, ” said rabbit, “Snail has moved on.”
“Oh, I was just curious to know where he had gone.”
“The snail had grown too large for this humble abode,
so now I live here, with my friend King Toad.

I believe Snail has moved much closer to the wood,
he said a tree house would be better, in fact twice as good.
To be honest I think he’s made a terrible mistake,
if he should fall his shell would surely break.

My good friend King Toad and I most certainly agree
that life shouldn’t be spent on the branch of a tree.
You weren’t by the way thinking of moving in here
because there’s not enough room for three to share? ”

“Oh dear no, not I, I have my own cosy little place,
which I share with my friends, Freddie and Grace.
Would you and King Toad like to come to my house for tea?
We’re having scones with cream, and the freshest honey? ”

“I hope you won’t be offended, but I really must decline,
King Toad is a direct descendent of a most royal line.
He’s obnoxious, rude and arrogant, with his cutting jar,
and I can’t take him anywhere with his okay yah.”

A loud deep voice from within the shell echoed out the door,
“We’ll accept your invitation sir, of that I am most sure.”
King Toad came to the entrance with a crown upon his head,
“I hope you’ll go to plenty of trouble, ” he impudently said.

What a surprise; I didn’t know whether to bow or curtsy.
“Shall we say tea time, around about four thirty? ”
Rabbit and King Toad agreed with a smile on their face,
so off I went to tell Freddie the spider and mouse Grace.

As teatime approached everything was prepared,
the table was set with five different sized chairs.
King Toad and rabbit arrived precisely on time
dressed in fancy hats, they didn’t half look fine.

“Welcome to our home, ” said the mouse and spider.
Toad rudely barged in and said, “Have you got any cider? ”
“I’m terribly sorry your highness, but we’ve only got tea,
and that’s usually enough for Freddie, Grace, and me.”

“Oh very well, I suppose tea will have to do,
but it must have ten spoons of sugar, and lemon too.”
“Would you prefer jam or honey, with your buttered scone? ”
“Both if you don’t mind, that’s what I normally have at home.”

“Now then friend rabbit what would you like to eat? ”
“A watercress sandwich would be very hard to beat.”
King Toad extended his tongue and gulped down poor spider,
and in an instant Grace had Toad swallowed up inside her.

Rabbit leaped across the table towards Grace the mouse
and the ensuing chase nearly wrecked the house.
With Grace now gone, friend rabbit and I sat down to tea,
and by supper, rabbit had also gone, ‘burp’ pardon me!

The Faces Of God

The black man told me that God's face is black
I argued white but then I took it back
As God may be black and it would seem to me
That God's the colour that one wish to see.

The woman told me that God is a she
I argued with her of course God's a he
But having thought on it I changed my mind
If God was born God came of Woman-kind.

The young girl told me her rabbit's God her rabbit she adore
But I could not agree with her I've heard it all before
But then I thought maybe she's right and who am I to disagree
And perhaps her rabbit may be God if God in him she see.

God may be black or brown or white, god may be he or she,
God may be even young girl's pet if God in him she see,
God's different to most people to every creed and race
And to every Nationality God has a different face.

The Usual Story...

and then the problem comes
after the meeting of the
the turtle and the rabbit
after the winning and the losing
to each priority
the rabbit to the bushes
to the river the turtle goes

there is no saying that
after all, the warning is given
personally, the rabbit will
always remember
and so does the turtle
there is no point of reconciliation

the facts of life are here again
nothing to lose nothing to gain.

My Dog Named Cat

Spring of life, so much like the flowers in the garden, or the leaves on The mighty oak tres, all blooming, all turning green, as days go by,
My dog and I, we used to run free together, through the fields of corn, Down the country lanes, so happy we were, me and my dog named Cat;
When rabbits crossed our path, we chased them until our lungs were about to Burst, then we'd lie there upon the ground breathing in the fresh country Air, and nowhere on earth, was there a happier place;
Summer, the body of life, when all is happening so fast it makes your head Spin, hot days, warm nights, when the sun and stars seem so very close, When maturity sets in on a child's dream on a puppy's playful days;
With work to be done now, we're still together, me and my dog Cat, side by Side we walk through the fields, our eyes still glance for a trace of that Same rabbit;
When day is done, even though we're tired, we hurry back to take up the Chase, and maybe someday soon, we'll catch old rabbit, but I know, in both Of our hearts we hope we never will;
Fall, the Autumn of life, when things slow down, when hair turns gray, and Eye sight fades, when the memories are thought of, more often;
Me and my dog Cat, still walk the fields together, our old friend the Rabbit, is still with us, Cat's bark is growing weaker, and his legs just Aren't the same;
I limp along with them, and seem to keep up somehow, but I'm sure old Cat Sometimes slows down, just for me to catch up, we watch more sunsets now From the porch, than we ever did before;
Winter, the cold and lonely time of life, when sometimes things end, oh, The snow is beautiful to see, as it falls to earth, but the old days are Gone now, gone;
Old Cat doesn't walk with me anymore, when he died my tears fell on his Grave, even old rabbit was there to say goodbye;
I'm sure old rabbit won't be with me in Spring, I suppose I'll sit by the Fire and dream of those good times, memories of me, and my dog named Cat.

White Angel the Easter Rabbit

Out of a lovely fantasy…..,
She appeared one Springtime day…..,
And made our world……,
So happy in every way……,
It was a vision so wondrous……,
As we colored our eggs…..,
For the Easter Holiday

White Angel, The Easter Rabbit…..,
Brought sunshine to our lives…..,
When it came to joy we had it…..,
White Angel, The Easter Rabbit…..,

She’d hop, hop, hop….,
All day long…..,
Be dancin’ around……,
And singin’ a song…..,
As Easter came so merrily…..,
She was so much fun for us to see……,

White Angel, The Easter Rabbit…..,
Brought sunshine to our lives…..,
Lovin’ her was a tireless habit……,
White Angel, The Easter Rabbit…..,

But poof just like each night and day……,
Her visit soon had to end …..,
So she hop, hop, hopped on her way……,
Off to visit her fairytale friends……,
As we sadly bid farewell to her…….,
She said, “Come on now, don’t cry…..,
I’ll be back again some Easter Day”…..,

White Angel, The Easter Rabbit…..,
Brought sunshine to our lives…..,
When it came to joy we had it…..,
White Angel, The Easter Rabbit…..,
Pure white gold in 24 karat…..,
White Angel, The Easter Rabbit….! ! !
