Medicine Bag
From the time christened warrior,
‘round his neck, tied by thong.
It like a talisman, mysterious,
the buckskin pouch hung.
As if retaining a secret,
captive, within leather bond.
The warrior cherished the satchel deeply,
for it never left his charge.
Should he ever become troubled,
sought vision of council and wisdom.
With his pouch held to the heavens,
called forth his Spirit Guide.
The warrior gazed into blue skies,
chanting loud his quandary.
Seeking guidance to reveal,
and light the trail to truth.
What magic was held captive,
within that mysterious sack?
He bequeathed upon me earned confidence,
held open that buckskin parcel.
I saw bits of stone, colored beads,
some feathers small.
An arrowhead with broken shaft,
a rifle’s ball stained dark.
He sensed my unasked question,
and spoke with almost reverent tone.
“Each item I have collected,
bears a portion of my life.
To you they may mean naught,
to me each a message.
Sent by my Spirit Leader,
that my time is yet to come.
As long as I carry my Medicine Bag,
life’s battles I shall survive.
Through its magic, should I need,
to speak with my Spirit Leader I may.”
From behind, ominous rattles I heard.
I was sure, my time had come.
I heard the swish of the warrior’s blade.
The rattling at once ceased.
Then in my hand he placed,
six bony beads.
“A message from your Spirit Leader.
Time to start your medicine bag.”28Nov08

Warrior
Wasnt there a time
When no one lived in pain
Zero down to zero
But a warrior
The innocence of birth
The power of the earth
Out of all thats good
Comes a warrior
Time - is it you who changes minds
Suing us - for something weve not done
Stealing the heroes - all the guiding lights, to find the way
Justice has been gone
To pieces for so long
Some killers call themselves
A warrior
Warriors with no pride
Committing suicide
The picture of a man
Thats your warrior
cause hes a warrior
Yes, hes a warrior
He fights for peace and freedom
cause hes a warrior
Yes, hes a warrior
He fights for peace and freedom
Think about the time
Where manhood promised pride
And history was made
Just by warriors
We have to face the world
And hope that someones heard
Who could replace a man
Like the warrior
cause hes a warrior
Yes, hes a warrior
He fights for peace and freedom
cause hes a warrior
Yes, hes a warrior
He fights for peace and freedom
Time - is it you who changes minds
Suing us - for something weve not done
Stealing the heroes - all the guiding lights, to find the way
cause hes a warrior
Yes, hes a warrior
He fights for peace and freedom
cause hes a warrior
Yes, hes a warrior
He fights for peace and freedom

A Warrior Has Come Home
Waiting all this time for that one warrior,
Challenges through these hard times
Crying and being alone at night,
Her warrior has finally come home.
His life meaningless before,
Day after day
Same routine.
The warrior has finally come home.
The things he has seen
No one will ever know
The cries he has heard
No one will ever hear.
Children in the future
Will never know the pain and fear
Never encounter the enemy
They will be free.
Today,
A parade travels through the city
People showing respect and loyalty,
A warrior has come home.
The end of the parade has finally come,
They lower the casket
With tears in her eyes,
A friend says a few words.
This warrior was brave.
Served his country
No regards to his life
He found peace and meaning to his life.
Shots were heard all over the city,
Heads are bowed in respect for the warrior
Prayers are sent up above
For the warrior who has finally come home.
My Aztec Warrior
My Aztec warrior,
Will you protect me?
My Aztec warrior,
Will you save me?
My Aztec warrior,
Will you love me?
My Aztec warrior,
Will you obey me?
My Aztec warrior,
Will you help me?
My Aztec warrior,
Will you be there for me?
My Aztec warrior,
Are you strong?
My Aztec warrior,
Are you brave?
My Aztec warrior,
Are you fierce?
My Aztec warrior,
Will you stay by my side,
Or will you leave me,
Like everyone else...

Jeckoyva
They made the warrior's grave beside
The dashing of his native time:
And there was mourning in the glen--
The strong wail of a thousand men--
O'er him thus fallen in his pride,
Ere mist of age - or blight or blast
Had o'er his might spirit past.
They made the warrior's grave beneath
The bending of the wild elm's wreath,
When the dark hunter's piercing eye
Had found that mountain rest on high,
Where, scattered by the sharp wind's breath,
Beneath the ragged cliff were thrown
The strong belt and the mouldering bone.
Where was the warrior's foot, when first
The red sun on the mountain burst?
Where -- when the sultry noon-time came
On the green vales with scorching flame,
And made the woodlands faint with thirst?
'Twas where the wind is keen and loud,
And the gray eagle breasts the cloud.
Where was the warrior's foot when night
Veiled in thick cloud the mountain-height?
None heard the loud and sudden crash--
None saw the fallen warrior dash
Down the bare rock so high and white!
But he that drooped not in the chase
Made on the hills his burial-place.
They found him there, when the long day
Of cold desertion passed away,
And traces on that barren cleft
Of struggling hard with death were left--
Deep marks and footprints in the clay!
And they have laid this feathery helm
By the dark river and green elm.

The Way Of The Warrior
Our time has come, get ready fight
Sisters and brothers in metal unite
The dreams that you had are about to come true
The voice of the warrior is calling for you
Turn your own deeds to his gracious glory,
And he will make you see
This is the way we want it to be
This is the way of the warrior
This is the way we want it to be
Walking the way, the honest will see
Walking the way of the warrior
Walking the way, the way of the warrior
Blood-red the steel of our swords shall flow
And by the allegiance were ready to go
Stout are the foe, in warfare so bold
Nothing can stop us, the future we hold
Brace up, defend,
Never ever be outdone in bravery
This is the way we want it to be
This is the way of the warrior
This is the way we want it to be
Walking the way, the honest will see
Walking the way of the warrior
Walking the way, the way of the warrior
The saints and the sinners in battle so bright, as the forces of steel will unite
The way of the warrior, the call of his life, shall lead us all into the light
The metal crusade will conquer all
Our bonds will be stronger, see the infidels fall
Surrender your soul to the gods of steel
In the blood of the fallen the enemies kneel
Turn your own deeds to his gracious glory,
And he will make you see
Brace up, defend,
Never ever be outdone in bravery
This is the way we want it to be
This is the way of the warrior
This is the way we want it to be
Walking the way, the honest will see
Walking the way of the warrior
Walking the way, the way of the warrior
This is the way we want it
This is the way we need it
This is the way of the warrior
This is the way we want it
This is the way we need it
This is the way of the warrior
This is the way

Spirit
I can see my destination
I can hear my call
No more hesitation, mmm
This time I'm goin' for all
'Cause I know where this road leads to
And therefore I will rise
I know this dream will come true, mmm
And I will soar the sky
(Spirit, spirit)
Would you guide me? Oh
(Spirit) oh (spirit)
Stand by me
Come on, Come on, Come on
Set me free
I can feel the penetration
Of a strong wind movin' me, mmm
I feel can the elevation, mmm
Of an angel lifting me, mmm
'Cause I know where this road leads to
Therefore I will rise
I know this dream will come true, oh
And I will soar the sky
(Spirit) spirit (spirit) spirit
Would you guide me? Ohh
(Spirit) spirit (spirit) spirit
Standin' by me
Come on, Come on, Come on
Set me free
(Oh spirit)
Now that I've found my way home
I've got to get there, get there (get there)
Though one step seems one mile long
Your bridge before my face (your bridge before my face)
I will take the leap of faith (I will take the leap of faith)
(Spirit) spirit (spirit) spirit
Would you guide me? Oh
(Spirit) spirit (spirit) spirit
Stand by me, oh
(Spirit) spirit (spirit) spirit
Set me free...
(Spirit) spirit (spirit) spirit
Spirit, set me free
(Spirit) help me find my way (spirit) stand by my side
Spirit take my hand and be my guide
(Spirit) run free (spirit) run free
Run free, run free
(Spirit) run free (spirit) run free...

Cherokee
I once had a wise old indian
look at me and say
life is what you make of it son
and it just has yet begun
you can take it and make it
a peaceful world
or you can live it under the gun
but it only comes around once my friend
and it won't be here again
time's of trouble we won't forget
but don't let it eat your soul
for you are Cherokee
be proud and let the pain go
Learn from our people what you can
let them show you the way
set your spirit free
and walk among our elder's
the visions and the dreams
and follow the eagle you see fly
through the valley and streams
let him guide you and show you
oh, mighty warrior with a wolf's heart
and you will live another day
don't let it pass you by
Now I've grown to be a man
teaching the ways of the Cherokee
so much has yet to be done
we walked the trail of tears
still they could'nt make us run
their words kept us apart
as we struggled through the years
but we are Cherokee
mighty warrior's of this land
we walk together hand to hand
and we'll be here til the end

To achieve the mood of a warrior is not a simple matter. It is a revolution. To regard the lion and the water rats and our fellow men as equals is a magnificent act of a warrior's spirit. It takes power to do that.

Mystic warrior
One man crawls to the gate
screams in rage of his fate.
Village seeks vengeance
with razered steel.
Rolling madness
on spiked wheels.
Dead warriors carried
home on shields.
One lone warrior lance held high
old mans wisdom young mans eyes
Mystic warrior courage abides
just his presence gives others pride
Mother told him brave son
but she knew he'd never run
Honer glory conquest done
love of battle bloodshed begun
One lone warrior lance held high
old mans wisdom young mans eyes
Mystic warrior courage abides
just his presence gives others pride
I wrote this at 15 and never finished it.
Part of it was used in a song for a local band so I stopped writting it.
Passage
In a great hall
flag draped a coffin stands.
Now at final rest
the great warrior lay.
With rising to setting sun
all through the day.
From every walk of life
his beloved public filed past.
The youngest to the most senior.
Dearest friend to complete stranger
Dignitary to the least known.
All came to bid this one adieu.
Stifled sob an abrupt cough
Sounds of mourning echo.
Shuffling feet passing
A whispered good bye prayer.
Now the hall is silent.
Deserted
save his honor guard.
Standing a faithful watch.
Deserted?
Only by the living.
Replaced by spirit throng
to escort this warrior home.
Defiant Viking King
stately armored knight.
Somber desert Sultan
mysterious far east Emperor.
Unseen but their presence sensed.
Leagues of warriors past.
Leaving their places in history
parade from misty shadows.
Legions line an avenue
that leads to eternal grace.
The one who sleeps now forever.
Soul and spirit have traveled on.
Mortals who remain behind.
Commit but a symbol
to a place of honor.
In remembrance for all time.

I Have Always Been... Human!
i have been a fool,
a thief, and a liar.
i have been selfish,
i have been callous.
i have been ignorant,
i have been a prisoner.
i have been an addict,
i have been a loser.
i have been wrong,
i have been angry.
i have been a taker,
i have been a demon.
i have been a hero,
i have been a man.
i have been a husband,
i have been a father.
i have been a seeker,
i have been a worker.
i have been a believer,
i have been a leader.
i have been a giver,
i have been spirit...
i have been a warrior,
i have been forgiven!
and i have always been...

Destined For Glory
Once upon a time in a forlorn land,
a man on a mission was left at fates hand
In his eyes you could see the whites turn red
Surrounded by evil, abandoned for dead
Born on the run by the sign of the sun
A mail-clad warrior, the chosen one
His name's been cursed, he is bound to fail
A wandering spirit with the will to prevail
By the sign of the moon,
he swore the oath to fight alone
Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory
But fight without honor, and you're destined to fall
He still can recall his father's words
"Don't loose your faith, let your voice be heard"
Echoes from the past will lead him on
By these words of honor, shine like the sun
By the sign of the moon
He swore the oath to fight alone
Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory
But fight without honor, and you're destined to fall
Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory
But fight without soul and you will loose it all
The prophecies spoke of a wandering man
Skilled with steel, black as the night
Normally veiled from the mortal eyes
His hammer arose like a magic force
With a gaze that turned everything into stone
the warrior spoke, "I am the one"
Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory
But fight without honor, and you're destined to fall
Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory
But fight without soul and you will loose it all
Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory
But fight without honor, and you're destined to fall
Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory
But fight without soul and you will loose it all

The Leader and the Bad Girl
Because he had sinned and suffered, because he loved the land,
And because of his wonderful sympathy, he held men’s hearts in his hand.
Born and bred of the people, he knew their every whim,
And because he had struggled through poverty he could draw the poor to him:
Speaker and leader and poet, tall and handsome and strong,
With the eyes of a dog for faith and truth that blazed at the thought of a wrong.
They thought in his country’s crisis that his time had come at last—
For they measured his brilliant future by the light of his brilliant past.
At every monster meeting the thousands called his name,
And a burst of triumphant cheering greeted him when he came.
They had faith in the strength of a single man, when their fighting lines were weak,
And a pregnant silence fell on all whenever he rose to speak.
But just when his power was greatest and the people’s cause went well,
And just as they needed their leader most, the leader stumbled and fell;
And his pitiful rivals exulted, for they thought that his star had set,
And the hearts of the people who worshipped him were filled with a keen regret;
The cowardly sneer was printed, and whispered the shameful word,
And the scandal was heard by thousands—the world and a bad girl heard.
Down in the frowsy alley, in a dark and narrow room,
On a mattress the shattered drunkard lay ghastly in his gloom;
And the bad girl nursed him and kept him from the drink for which he craved,
And she gave him broth and she watched him, and she soothed him when he raved,
For she’d heard the boast of his rivals and had sworn to lift him above—
And by day and by night she held him with the strength of a woman’s love.
They were holding a monster meeting, and the hour was close at hand
When his rivals would be triumphant and bad laws rule the land;
His people swayed and wavered and scattered like storm-swept birds,
For they needed his magical presence and the sound of his burning words.
But he heard the Drums of the Alley and the feeble answering cheer,
And he felt the strength to his limbs return, and his brain grow cool and clear.
He rose, and the bad girl dressed him well in the den where the lights were dim,
And her eyes grew bright as an angel’s might—for she knew the strength in him.
They had sneered when his name was mentioned in the hall with lights aglare.
But the crowd surged back to the platform when ’twas whispered that he was there.
Like the cry of a crowd from a sinking ship, his people called his name,
And gaunt and white but with eyes alight with the fire of old he came.
He spoke of the shameful sacrifice of the land where he was born;
Spoke with the burning words of truth and the withering words of scorn.
He spoke as he never had done before and his rivals were stricken dumb,
For the little men knew their master, and they knew that he had come;
His song of salvation went through the land in a loud, triumphant strain—
He held them all in the palm of his hand, and he was a king again.
So a man might fall to the gutter, though he be a king of men,
But a man might rise from the gutter with the strength of ten times ten;
And the people’s poet and leader for a long time led them all,
Wiser because of his weakness and stronger because of the fall.
They found the girl in the river—the river that flowed by the town—
She died that her spirit might strengthen him, where her love would drag him down.

The Warrior's Fear
The warrior waits, with fear.
Fear of never returning
Fear of losing all he has.
Fear for his family, without him.
Fear of letting them down.
Fear of letting his captain down.
Fear of letting his friends down.
The warrior kneels to the ground.
He prays, prays for a long time.
The warrior stands up.
He feels no longer fear, but security.
The warrior charges into battle,
Determined.
Ready.
No longer fearful.
Never to return.
Relying On The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is enough for me, as I’ve been sealed for eternity,
Sealed, by The Spirit of Christ, with His guarantee of Eternal Life;
The Spirit, the only teacher I need, as Truth, He helps me to heed,
Guiding me through all my days, for Christ’s Glory and His Praise.
For The Spirit opened my eyes, to discern Truth from Satan’s lies,
Teaching me the Ways of God, while led by Christ’s staff and rod,
Growing in His Truth and Love, assisted by His Spirit, from above,
Teaching me God’s Truth day to day, as I travel life’s Narrow Way.
It’s the work of God’s Holy Spirit, to shed light on Truth as I hear it,
Revealing Truths, that I never heard, from God’s Holy, Living Word.
From The Truth, revealed to men, by God’s Spirit, I am Born Again,
Believing in Christ and Him alone, I became one of God’s very own.
As God’s Spirit led me to believe, The Truth of God I would receive,
Believing the Saving Truth of Christ, I received in the Spirit New Life,
And at that very time and place, my life was changed, by His Grace,
Never again would it be the same; all by the power of Christ’s Name.
It is in Christ, that I now abide, through The Spirit, Who dwells inside,
And in God’s Spirit, I fully rely, in the same power from God on high,
Sent to comfort Children of God, while they journey this earthly sod,
Who will also, soon snatch us away, to Heaven on that Glorious day.

A warrior’s poem
A warrior’s poem
My anger bleeds my innocence away
Until all I am left with is the silence like after a question
In my mind I carry the suggestion
That I might be better off laughing my anger away
But I feel better being angry and seeing
My anger like the blood red flag it seems to be
Seemingly I wave it around trying to attract the bull and take it by the horns
Like my life since I was born!
Anger is a symptom of my frustration and sadness
A symptom of my friendless madness
A cross I bear
A sword I use to strike and to parry
Those who would leave me at deaths door
Yes and that goes for friends and loved ones
Who know how to hurt me the most
And raise a toast to my despair
Push my buttons and then stare back at me
Waiting for an answer
One day my anger is all I will have left
Anger at constant disappointment at still having life and air to breathe
But still having nothing in which to believe in but
The anger to prove everyone wrong
An obstinate man who says I will and I can
Prove the buggars wrong
and stay strong
no matter what they say
my warrior spirit will carry me on
and my anger will burn in me
until I fear no pain
then I will be a light shining bright and I will fear no one!

Warrior, He
Happy is the warrior he
When he journeys in the world of men
To provide for is family
And no one else, but them.
Happy He is those tired nights.
Happy is a warrior wife.
Happy is a warrior man
When he has shelter to rest his head
And when he uses his own two hands
To bring the food, so his family is fed.
So proudly he stand so strait and tall.
As he Fiercely battles vowing not to fall.
A warrior man is that special breed
When he enters the world of man
As he asks for nothing which is free
And takes what only he can.
Though not by lying, stealing or request.
But by hard work, bleeding and sweat.
Happy is the warrior he
When he greets each and every day
When from his home he does leave
To earn himself respect and pay.
Happy he is when he earns respect.
Happy he is when he tires from sweat.
And when it is a warriors time to leave
And he is buried all alone
He shall then enter heaven proud and free
Happy and peaceful, will be his soul.
For he knows on earth he done his best.
And now he deserves his final rest.
Happy is the Lord he
When he calls away a warrior man
For he shall then plant another seed
To bring forth two more working hands.
And he will sweat, and stand as a tree.
And how I wish I was the warrior he.

Dog Soldier Lodge Affirmed
We believed in love, freedom, nobility;
to spiritual depths of our souls.
We believed in spiritual sacredness;
of our vibrant untamed land.
We rode our mustangs like wind tossed rolling thunder;
drumming within across prairie storm front;
as we rode wild free ranging prairie wind;
sweeping across an untamed unshod land.
We were so proud to live; as robust hunter-warriors;
to walk stand tall; sharing tribal life spirit.
So proud to live! So proud to die!
We fought frightened forked tongued white devil;
with every honourable fibre of our sacred being;
as they swept like vermin; despoiling stealing violating;
great beauty of a spiritual primeval land.
As Dog Soldier Warriors; of entrusted sacred lodge;
we died as we lived; with respect spiritual nobility.
I remember drums beating beating beating....
as my tribe cast my sacred spirit free.
I remember ritual tribal drums beating;
as my people cast my shaman spirit free;
vanquishing suppressed pain of weeping wounds;
which had battle pierced bled profusely;
sustained in mesmeric dance of necessitated battle;
when trampled buffalo hide tepee; of venerated Great Spirit;
within my warrior hardened body; invincible in combat;
finally fell undefeated; before an ignoble enemy.
Defend ancestral hunting grounds; wearer of eagle feathered;
war bonnet; strike with medicine power; of eagle descending....
on prey; protect shaman warrior; brave deeds in battle worthy;
first to touch living fallen enemy in battle; in front of fighting.... notched decorated feathers tell your deeds; designate swift killing;
telling your fierce individual stories; scalping capturing....
enemy’s weapons shield proudly worn; how thunder on horseback
or foot; attacking fear you struck into veteran civil war enemies....
What remained of a once proud people; hostilities long bled;
cast my shaman spirit free; cleansing ceremony completing;
to roam restoring; releasing vitality; warrior leading retaliatory strikes;
be free in spiritual hunting ground; of earned nomadic nobility.
Until foretold time; descendant tribe; would seek; must seek;
wisdom of spirit world; to guide survivors in spiritual perpetuity.
Then search in sacred ritual circle ceremony; tribal knowledge proving;
for tribal lore; for primeval knowledge; for new found spirituality.
Guarded for time swept tribe; for time of great need;
by a shaman; by a newborn past ancestor; of awe inspiring ability.
We worshipped; in peace in war; wisdom of Great Spirit.
We worshipped life. We worshipped our land. In perpetuity.
