Black Night In The City
Darkness in the city is just an indistinct side effect
Protecting what is scary in day light and wrecked
Abandoned buildings become castles during the night
Busy graffiti artists express what is usually out of sight
Billboards illuminate in bright colorful fluorescents
And creatures of the night shuffle on antidepressants
Red lights invite the late traveler to stay for a while
Loneliness and despair develops rapidly being fertile
The sirens of ambulances whisper tales of our mortality
And a lonesome speaker sells questionable spirituality
In the dark there is not just love for sale in the streets
One may purchase modern chemistry without a receipt
The beaming lights of cars blind the searchers outside
While in adult theaters dejected clients trying to hide
Screeching sounds of the metro are disturbing the dark
And only the adventurous and brave walk in the park
At night the tears of the fallen color the river black
And screams drown on the sidewalks holding back
When blood turns to red liquid velvet like altar wine
I own the shadows in my city and the black night is mine

City Night
Night is lively.
Night is stunning
Night is pleasurable.
Night is sugary like apple pie.
Night is walking towards with hobo.
Night will never end.
Night is dark.
Night is now simple, sweet, calm, amusing.
I am in love with this city night.
City is covered with this pleasant night.
Night is having the shine of city.
Night is getting wilder.
Night is getting cruel.
Time will never stop running.
Night will over with the time.
Another night will come in this city.
I am waiting for the night.
Here city shed tears
Here city chuckle like a little kid.
Here city dance with the mysterious wind.
I am in love with this city night.
Night never stops coming.
Night will never break its rule.
It will come over and over in this cold blooded city.
But I will never stop loving this city night.
Night is resting.
It will come again into my little black book.

City Lights
Oh oh I feel the city rhythm
Oh oh I love those city lights
But when the sun comes up
And the partys over
I dont care Im coming back tonight
To the bright city lights
Home from work got your money in your pocket
Pull on your boots brand new suit
If you had the chance youd hock it
For a night on the tiles
And a shot of midnight fever
Get off your back get on the track
Tune in your receiver oh oh
Oh oh I feel the city rhythm
Oh oh I love those city lights
But when the sun comes up
And the partys over
I dont care Im coming back tonight
To the bright city lights
Truck down the street feeling kinda funky
Get on the beat shuffle your feet
Never know you might get lucky
You got love on the brain
Flashing like a neon
Feed 'em a line
Give 'em a sign
Theyre looking for a come on oh oh
Oh oh I feel the city rhythm
Oh oh I love those city lights
But when the sun comes up
And the partys over
I dont care Im coming back tonight
To the bright city lights
No way to stop when the musics in your body
Into the night feel all right
No time for feeling sorry
You go down to the club
With the old familiar faces
Buy 'em a drink kick up a stink
Everybodys going crazy oh oh
Oh oh I feel the city rhythm
Oh oh I love those city lights
But when the sun comes up
And the partys over
I dont care Im coming back tonight
To the bright city lights
To the bright city lights
To the bright city lights
To the bright city lights
Oh I love those city lights

Aura
The air was dark
The moon was dark
The night was dark
The cloud was dark
The heat was dark
The stars were black
The birds were black
The eyes were black
The shadows were black
The planes were black
A sound of night
The hearts of night
A chase at night
A fall at night
No help at night
The night is night
Where is my sight
I have no sight
Your light was sight
No light no sight
No one in sight
The dark in sight
Don't call my name
What's my name
They call my name
That's not my name
Who said its my name
I have no name
You took my same
It was our same
She was our same
She's now your same
Its all the same
I'm not the same
Judas and my hand
You took my hand
'I do' my hand
You kissed my hand
You broke my hand
You fell my hand
A tear in sand
A heart in sand
A body in sand
Alone in sand
A dust in sand
At home in sand.

Lost In A Night
During a dark night the streets come to life on their own
Lurking danger is cradled by disciples reigning from a throne
Sirens at midnight echo like the forlorn souls of sinners
When survival is a gamble without disclosing any winners
Subtle like a symphony last rites are spoken in confessions
And the free on the corner burning their worldly possessions
The night train claims its victims slowly in long tiled caves
While the tired indulge in discussions disclosing the brave
The dark night is no longer mysterious like a virgin at dawn
When the river swallows pride and hope with a stifled yawn
Then the bright lights of the windows lead the way like stars
While hiding its inhabitants selling the smoke of Cuban cigars
The words written on billboards have a double meaning now
Because the creatures of the dark are on their nightly prowl
Prisoners lock their chains tightly with allegiance and lies
Drinking the wine from silver goblets being newly baptized
Yellow plastic tape reveals scenes of old crimes committed
While diseases make room for blistering wounds omitted
High black boots over nylon protect from the icy rain
Worn by smiling creatures in costumes lined in naked pain
Silent screams dance slowly to the rhythms of electric guitars
When warm blood runs over the edges of newly inflicted scars
In hotel rooms illusions are buried in caskets with iron doors
While illuminated casinos are the new twenty-four hour stores
Dancers dressed in grey asphalt park the ruins of rusty cars
And the nightly sounds of celebrations travel from behind bars
Initiating new battles with alibis originated in secrets drowned
The coroner is collecting rewards on frozen common ground
The children of tomorrow now veterans of wars and extortion
Face the black night losing dreams with an habitual abortion

a Walk home after dark
Cars speed past
and their lights search
to find direction
in the rush of the city.
The last red rays of the sun
are dying behind
the ridges
and dusk brings
the darkness of night.
I see the lights appearing high
up in the night sky
and they burn,
as it was
from the beginning of time.
I see a new light hanging bright
where I did not see anything
on a previous night
and it gets brighter
and I wonder
if any Unidentified Flying Objects
are watching us?
Or are some countries
flying secret objects of war,
high up in the night sky?
Is this world like a stage
which creatures from
other worlds
watch for the final ends
to appear?
At times I wonder
what judgement waits
on every one of us?
Or if we are just
another speck
in the big scheme of things
and does destiny
just let the pieces fall
as they may?
Two new lights appear
and I hear the jet engines
of a low flying plane
and it disappears in the distance.
Dark shadows fall
from across the street
and I am wary,
but it’s only trees
that moves in the strong wind.

The Darkness Ate The Day
I left the light behind and the darkness ate the day,
I stay in the shadows of the night with little regret to say,
The dark is warm like a subtle flame, even the light was never the same
I should be ashamed to say this aloud, but it's easier to say how I am proud
Proud to let the light stay away, proud that the darkness ate the day
For there is little light to fight back, a world that's nothing but black
Black sun, black moon, black night, black day, all the world's that's black will stay,
Stay the way of the night, always straining to destroy the
Light

City Streets
The gaudy glow of neon lights
dispels the darkness of the nights
on city streets.
They pop and fizzle noisily
creating a cacophony
on city streets.
The sober folks walk warily
and drunks stagger uncaringly
on city streets.
The ladies of the night parade
for there is money to be made
on city streets.
Drug dealers ready to retreat
if they should hear a coppers feet
on city streets.
The night shift workers wend their way
towards their work to start their day
on city streets.
The noisy revellers thin out
as one by one the signs go out
on city streets.
The gradually noises abate
and ghostly shadow congregate
on city streets.
For some few hours peace will reign
before the noise will start again
on city streets.
The early morning traffic sounds
start with the milkmen on their rounds
on city streets.
This builds up to an angry roar
as cars and lorries inward pour
on city streets
then when at last rush hour has passed
noise levels will subside at last
on city streets
I thank the lord that I am free
to leave this noise far behind me
on city streets.
I walked my beat the whole night
through exactly as I’m paid to do
on city streets.
I choose to live outside the town
where constant noise won’t get me down
on city streets.
My village is a quiet place
A haven where I need not face
the noisy streets.

Out Go The Lights
(richie mcdonald/brett beavers/steve bogard)
See the moon and the stars, how they sparkle and shine
Baby all around us now
Headlights on the cars and bright neon signs
They illuminate this town
Then I see your face, look in your eyes
And before I realize
Out go the lights... beat goes the heart
Rush goes the blood, sendin your love to every part
Baby when you look at me, the only thing I can see
Is the two of us makin love, alone in the dark of the night
Out, out, out... out go the lights
The world is turnin around, but the night is still young
And girl I want to take it slow
And let a candle burn down, till our bodies are one
Breathless in the afterglow
The way you look, the way this feels
I just cant wait until
Out go the lights... beat goes the heart
Rush goes the blood, sendin your love to every part
Baby when you look at me, the only thing I can see
Is the two of us makin love, alone in the dark of the night
Out, out, out... out go the lights

Far Far Away
Far, far away from those city lights
Might be shining on you tonight
Far, far away from you
On the dark side of the moon
I long to hold you in my arms and sway
Kiss and ride on the CTA
I need to see you tonight
And those bright lights
Oh, I know it's right
Deep in my heart
I'll know it's right
By the bed, by the light that you read by
By the time that I get home to say good night
I need to see you again
On the dark side my friend
On the dark side

Black Cars
Under the cover of night
She crawls into sight
Her skin is cold china white
Shes a dark angel wearing dark glasses
Dark shadows under long false lashes
The night exposes the cracks
She wears her makeup like wax
To hide every scratch
cause she a dark angel riding dark horses
Sitting pretty in her dim lit covers ... I say
Black cars look better in the shade
She smears her lipstick on right before she sleeps
For all those phantom lovers in her dreams
She smokes them french cigarettes
In cocktail gloves and a strapless dress
She cuts a perfect silhouette
But shes a dark angel wearing dark glasses
A fading beauty as the night time passes ... I say
Black cars look better in the shade
Black cars look better in the shade

Dynamite
(r. stewart/a. taylor)
Oh, look out baby!
I got a stupid little job
Its driving me insane
With those keyhole people
All they do is complain
About the tattoo on my arm
The ring in my ear
But I dont even care, no no
I just live through the week
And when I see them boys
You know their two-tone suits
Theyre all unimportants
If you need a set of hubcaps
Or a car painted
Girl, why dont you follow me
Its dynamite on friday night
Under the big city lights
Its all right, all right
Yeah dynamite on friday night
Under the big city lights
Its all right, all right
Play some sweet guitar, yeah
Well we meet on the corner
And we talk all night
About our wealth situation
At a rockn roll dive
We dont reach no conclusion
So the conversation turns to wise girls
And more pearls
I got a beat up old mustang
And I painted it black
Theres five in the front seat
And the rest in the back
Cruise up and down sunset
And watch all the jailbait roll by
Yeah its dynamite on friday night
Under the big city lights
Its all right, all right
Yeah yeah, its dynamite on friday night
Under the big city lights
Its all right, its all right
All right, all right, all right
All right
Are you ready baby, bring it on down now
Watch it, well, well, well
Listen, one of these days
And it wont be long
Gonna hear that radio
Playing my song
Ill be the darling of masses
No great pretender, not me, yeah yeah
Cause I can play this guitar
Hangin round my neck
Im in love with its power
I believe in its strength
I got a head full of ideas
Its driving me insane
But until then
Its dynamite on friday night
Under the big city lights
Its all right, all right
Yeah dynamite on friday night
Under the big city lights
All right, all right, one time
Its dynamite, oh yes its dynamite
Its just dynamite on friday night
Its dynamite, its on friday night
Oh friday night
Its all right, all right, wired
Its dynamite on friday night
Under the big city lights
Its all right, all right
All together ...

The City Children
Around the city places are particular children
Wandering like cruel expenses during the day,
And only in the night do children sleep in the city,
But the city does not turn off its lights in the deep night.
When do they spin the cars and race in the city?
In the night the children play as if wondering,
When they wonder the lights go out.
What does the mission entail?
A commencement of hostilities, a burning desire,
One of alacrity and higher purpose than any older person.
Those wise men in the whole city rely on the night
To quell the minds of the young, the young who might bite.

The White City
I'm in the white city.
A dense fog
Disintegrates all my hopes.
There are people dreaming
Of nonexistent worlds,
There are disoriented people
Walking on the terminal's sidewalk.
There are lights turning on and off so erratically
In this white city.
There are hidden screams in the night
Covered by the heavy rain sounds,
That rain falling continuously
And monotonously.
In this white city,
The victims
Don't understand that they are victims yet.
There are flowers,
There are fast food kiosks,
There are botanical gardens,
With beautiful exotic trees,
And there are horror movies in the theaters.
As shadows emerging from the fog
Are the lost steps.
There are steps searching each other,
And there are steps that are separated forever.
The rain's sounds
Vibrate the eye of the windows,
Vibrate the burial stones,
Vibrate the dreams,
Those dreams
About better days.
Apparently,
Someone screams
In the white mist of the night.
Maybe he's the victim of an aggression,
Or maybe he's someone, who has lost his love.
Maybe it's just an echo...
I'm in the white city
And I'm searching for you in the darkness...

The Underground Carpark
This place is the darkest of dark and the blackest of black
as I look all around after just reversing back.
I parked here because it’s usually a secure well lit car park,
but the lights are off and I’m in the dark.
I’ll switch off my lights I don’t want to cause undue attention down here,
and I’ll just sit back and wait for the ceiling lights to reappear.
I’ve been waiting for a good fifteen minutes and still there’s no light,
isn’t it odd how these things always happen at night.
With my window half open I can hear unusual noises that I haven’t heard before.
Now I can hear something heavy being dragged along the floor.
How can the makers of these noises see what they are doing in the dark?
It’s certainly unnerving; I wish more vehicles would enter the car park,
I feel tempted to turn on all my car’s lights and the main beam,
but that would show my whereabouts, and allow me to be seen.
I think that I had better shut my window and secure all the doors
I don’t want to end up being dragged across the floor.
I’ll just try and stay calm by taking deep breaths, and closing my eyes.
What was that..? Something has rubbed against my cars near side.
It shook the whole of the car; oh why can’t I vanish and be elsewhere?
Something else has just passed through my car as I was sitting here.
It’s time to get out of here fast, I’ve had enough of this dark,
but my lights won’t come on and my engine won’t start.
God, I’m stuck with no apparent way of getting out of here,
it’s gone quiet and still, and perhaps there’s nothing to fear.
The car has shook and I think someone or something’s on the roof,
no one would believe this; they just wouldn’t believe the truth.
I can’t believe that this sort of thing could actually happen,
it’s straight out of a movie set of New York and Manhattan.
The car is still and what was on the roof seems to have gone,
again I’ve tried my ignition and lights, but they won’t come on.
I’ve never before been in a dark space for this amount of time
and I’m seeing shades of black as though I’m not quite blind.
I swear a greyish figure flashed by in front of my car,
but I can’t be sure, it’s impossible to see that far.
There was definitely something there, it flashed by again
and one passed in the rear view mirror exactly the same.
What a time for my lights to fail and the engine not to start?
This is supernatural and definitely a world apart.
Despite everything I’ve got to stay calm and do nothing untoward,
so I’ll slowly remove the flashlight from the car’s dashboard.
As I switch on the flashlight I scanned around the other parked cars
and inside them are ghostly white figures covered with scars.
When I shine the light into their faces they turn and point at me,
as if they were giving me a warning of how things will be.
I immediately tried to turn on my engine and lights once more,
then the car park lights came on, and lit up the roof and floor.
The ghostly images all vanished from the cars and from sight,
and I decided I no longer wanted to park here tonight.

City Lights
Walking the lonely streets of the city during the nights
I look around me and see lights
Lights of skyscrapers touching the sky
And the lights of buildings that don’t stand very high
All around me I see light
That penetrates through the darkness of night
For a moment I forget about my constant companion
The one that makes me feel as if I’m in the bottom of a canyon
Loneliness
I forget for a moment that I am the only one that’s left
That to feed myself, I resort to theft
My family is gone, they left no trace
I close my eyes, and see my mothers face
They died last year, at the peak of the war
My father fought on the oceans shore
My mother and brother were both at home
When they dropped the great bomb, with its shiny chrome
I was at a shelter, far away from the city
But when I returned, there was no welcoming committee
The city was in ruins, my family dead
My heart was filled to the rim with dread
I was alone now, what a pity
Left to look at the lights of the city

The Path
There is no turning back from this unending path of mine
Serpent turning back it stands before my eyes
To hell and back it will lead me once more
Its all I have as I stumble in and out of grace
I walk through the gardens of dying lights
And cross over rivers deep and dark as the night
Searching for reasons why time passes by
With every step I take the less I know myself
And every vow I break on my way towards your heart
Countless times Ive prayed for forgiveness
But God just laughed at my face
And this path remains
Leading me into solitude zones
I seek through the darkness my way back home
The journey seems endless but Ill carry on
The shadows will rise and day will fall
And a night turns in dawn
And after the tears this smile all angels grieve with an envious song
When looking into strangers eyes
And I know where I belong
I walk through the gardens of dying lights
And cross over rivers deep and dark as the night
Searching for reasons why time passes by
I seek through the darkness my way back home
The journey seems endless but Ill carry on
The shadows will rise and day will fall
And a night turns in dawn

Three Dark Shadows
Three dark
Shadows lurking
In the dark park
On a dark night
One leads
The two others
Follow wearing
Black raincoats
On a dark road
I lead
I tell them
My name
My work
My place
The two
Did not follow
Since then
They realized
Perhaps that
With what
I tell them
I am blacker
Than black
On a dark
Raincoat
On a dark
Park
On a dark
Road
&
In my dark
Mind
It would
Be so hard
For them
To follow
Through &
Through.
They quit
They split
&
So I
Walk alone
In the dark
As one lonely
Shadow
Darker than
Dark
&
Now
It is you
Here
Following me?
In fact
We change
And it is
You
In effect
Who is
Leading me
Through
These lines
Flowing
Slowly
Gradually
Getting
Darker than
Dark
You have
Indulged &
Surely
You are
Involved
Deeply
Long enough
You win
& lose…

Summer Night City
Summer night city...
Summer night city...
Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in the park
Summer night city
In the sun i feel like sleeping
I can't take it for too long
My impatience slowly creeping
Up my spine and growing strong
I know what's waiting there for me
Tonight i'm loose and fancy-free
Aa-ahhh
When the night comes with the action
I just know it's time to go
Can't resist the strange attraction
From that giant dynamo
Lots to take and lots to give
Time to breathe and time to live
Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in the park
Summer night city
It's elusive party feeling
Somehow something turns me on
Some folks only see the middle
We don't miss them when they're gone
I love feeling in the air
My kind of people everywhere
When the night comes with the action
I just know it's time to go
Can't resist the strange attraction
From that giant dynamo
And tomorrow, when it's dawning
And the first birds start to sing
In the pale light of the morning
Nothing's worth remembering
It's a dream, it's out of reach
Scattered driftwood on the beach
Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in the park
Summer night city

The Night Sky
The Night Sky
Stars Were So Bright In The Nights Dark Sky
The Little Lights That Lit Up The Black Spots In Space
Stars That We Wondered In
And Saw Many Wonderful Things
Like The Many Stars That Are Out There...
How There Are So Many Lights In The Night Sky...
How The Night Sky Could Look So Great
In Only Black And White
The Same Thing, The Same Looks..
Yet So Many Objects And Point Outs Of Our Imagination
Oh, How The Night Sky
When We Look On about Its The Same Sky We See When We're Away From Each other
The Same Crescent Moon, The Same Stars
The Same Look Outs That Remind Me Of You.
