Crustacean Rejoinder
TAKE your great light away, your music end;
I'm off to feed myself as quick as I can.
You're perfectly impossible to comprehend,
I'm such a busy man.
Good God, haven't you got a circumference?
There's not a moment I can call my own—
My clocks, my keys, my wheels and instruments
And that fierce Ethiop, the telephone.
No doubt, it's very charming out in the sun,
But there are other things, you know. In any case,
I've got no time, no time. There's much to be done.
Thank God for this, my faithful carapace!

It's Music Time
It's Music Time - what shall I do?
It's Music Time today.
I haven't really thought it through
And it's Music Time today.
It doesn't have to last too long
This Music Time today.
We haven't finished our number work
We could miss Music Time today.
But Johnny and Jane will go berserk
If there's no Music Time today.
We could always sing that assembly song
At Music Time today.
I know they'll want to get the instruments out
At Music Time today.
But can I stand all that crashing about?
When it's Music Time today.
Maybe we could take turns to play?
At Music Time today.
And if there's too much noise we'll just put them away
At Music Time today.

Over Her
You know I been trying to figure out
Just what's going on
Am I over her?
I been doing a lot of thinking lately
Am I over her?
And I'm really missing you
It's been 3 months, 3 hours, 3 days
Since the last time I seen your pretty face
My decision to bring this to an end
And I'm caught up in reminscing
Having faithful visions of long walks, long talks
Play fights, late nights
It's been on my mind since Valentine's
Cause I had your heart and I let it slide
I ask myself time and time again (again I'm trying to comprehend that)
Unanswered questions still (things to be are meant to end)
Am I over her? (am I over her?)
Am I over her?
Am I over her?
Tell me am I really over my my love (am I over her?)
I can't think straight
Cause I'm too busy thinking of her
Am I really over my love?
I was going through some things that I couldn't explain
Now my situation's taking a big change
They say the grass is greener on the other side of town
Now I'm kinda wishing you would come back around
Is she sad or is she mad?
Does she have a new man, does she have it like that?
It's been so long, thought I would've moved on
Could've been strong and picked up the telephone
I ask myself time and time again (again I'm trying to comprehend that)
Unanswered questions still (things to be are meant to end)
Am I over her? (am I over her?)
Am I over her?
Am I over her?
Tell me am I really over my my love (am I over her?)
I can't think straight
Cause I'm too busy thinking of her
Am I really over my love?
It's water under the bridge
But I can't seem to forget
All the plans we made, all the time we spent
Makes me reminisce
I still see your face
All this love I can't replace
Am I over (am I over)
Am I over her? (her now)
Am I over her?
Am I over her? (am I)
Am I over her? (am I over)
Tell me am I really over my my love (my love my love)
I can't think straight (my love)
Cause I'm too busy thinking of her (never gonna be over her)
Am I really over my love? (never gonna be)
No
Am I over her?
No not over her no
Ohhhhhh
Am I over her?
Am I over her? (over her)
Am I over her?
Am I over her?
Tell me am I really over my my love (am I over her, am I over her?)
I can't think straight (I'm not over her)
Cause I'm too busy thinking of her
Am I really over my love? (ahh oooh)
I'm not over my my my love
I'm not over my my my love
I'm not over my my my love (oh no no)
I'm not over my my my love
Am I over her? (I'm not over my my my love)
Am I over her? (I'm not over my my my love)
Am I over her? (I'm not over my love my love, she's my love, she's my)
Tell me am I really over my my love (she's my everything)
I can't think straight (she's my everything, my everything)
Cause I'm too busy thinking of her
Am I really over my love?
Not over not over my love
Not over not over my love
I'm not over not over my love
Am I over her?
Not over not over my love..

I Really Haven't Got The Time
(Mike Pinder)
You want me to ride
In your car outside
Spend some time with you
Just an hour or two
But I really,
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
I really
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
I really haven't got the time
I'm a busy man
Workin' when I can
I got no time to lend
I got no time, time to spend
Oh no, I really
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
Oh no, I really
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
I really haven't got the time
(Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!)
Instrumental
I really
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
Oh no, I really
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
I really haven't got the time
Workin' nine 'til five
Got to stay alive (I've got to stay alive)
Find somebody who (Go find somebody who)
Got some time for you (Who's got the time for you)
But I really
No, no, no, no
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
Oh no, I really
No, no, no, no
I really haven't
I really haven't got the time
I really haven't got the time
Really haven't got the time
(Really haven't got time)

The Flower and Bee
“Who are you? ” said the rose to the bee.
“What’s it to you? ” said he arrogantly.
“Well, I don’t know who the hell you are,
and why you’re stealing my special nectar.”
“Don’t you realise that I’ve come from afar
just to collect your special nectar.”
“Good manners cost nothing and that’s a fact,
and a little respect would see to that.”
“I’m in a hurry and haven’t got time for this,
I have many pick-ups that I just can’t miss;
and I take exception to being called a thief
after all said and done I bring you relief.
It’s a simple case of I help you and you help me,
an excepted procedure for the flower and bee.
“I know perfectly well the procedures Mr Bee,
all that I’m asking is for common courtesy.
You should politely ask before coming aboard,
consideration for privacy can’t be ignored.”
“I’m sincerely sorry for my thoughtless attitude,
I hope you’ll forgive me for being so rude.”
“Of course Mr Bee, now that you’ve apologised,
good manners will benefit you and your hive.”
“Then may I have your permission to carry on,
I’m busy, busy, busy, and my works never done? ”

Neon Telephone
Maybe she'll call me (Neon telephone)
Maybe she won't (Maybe she won't)
And if she don't (Neon telephone)
I'm gonna lose my mind (This time I'm gonna lose my mind)
It's kinda dark in here (Neon telephone)
I need a light (It's 2 bright)
I could use a sexy situation that would do my body just right
2night I'm gonna lose my mind
Sometimes her pride is like a big tall building
It hides the street that leads 2 a sweet mystery
(Sometimes) Sometimes we blow the chance 2 be so happy (Happy)
If we could only make up our minds
We could have such a good time
I know she wants me (Neon telephone)
I know she cares (I don't care)
Tell me what's stoppin' me (I don't care 2 know)
From runnin' right over there and runnin' my fingers through your hair
I'm goin' crazy, yes I am (Neon telephone)
Why can't U understand? (He needs 2 change)
I can't stop (can't stop) thinkin' about U, baby
This time I'm gonna lose my mind (This time I'm gonna lose it)
Why can't U call me, baby? Pick up the phone
U know your little Prince can't be alone
I need some of your sweet, sweet... oooh!
(Neon telephone)
(I don't care)
(Neon telephone)
Hello
How come U didn't call?
What, U think U're 2 good or something?
Can I talk 2 U?
Are U alone?
Good God

Faithful
Faithful to the end
She's a lover and a friend
Faithful to the end
And with this i know you can win, just stay faithful
Faithful till the end
Faithful to the end
Listen ya'll she's a mother and a wife, she is everything, faithful
Faithful to the end
Even when things go wrong and you got nobody else to call
You call on good ol' faithful
Faithful to the end
Cause i know you gotta stay faithful
Faithful to the end
She's the one that will cook and clean, wash your clothes
So you always gotta stay faithful
Faithful to the end
Ya'll just take it on home, i can't even sing no more
Faithful to the end
Yeah, i like that

The wheels of time
The wheels of time roll around,
it dosn't stop for anyone
the wheels of time, for me it's almost done.
The wheels of time rolls around,
changes me with age
the wheels of time for my life a new stage
The wheels of time roll around,
life has passed me by
the wheels of time make me want to cry.
The wheels of time roll around
so many changes they bring
the wheels of time, for me going faster than a train.
The wheels of time roll around
another day gone, another day went by,
the wheels of time, changes in my life, I'll apply.
The wheels of time roll around
changes I need to make,
the wheels of time, chances I have to take
The wheels of time roll around
closing in on me,
the wheels of time, finally I'll face it with glee.
No Action
I dont wanna kiss you. I dont wanna touch.
I dont wanna see you cause I dont miss you that much.
Im not a telephone junkie.
I told you that we were just good friends.
But when I hold you like I hold that bakelite in my hands,
Theres no action,
Theres no action,
Theres no action.
Evry time I phone you, I just wanna put you down.
Hes got the keys to the car.
They are the keys to the kingdom.
Hes got evrything you need.
Its a shame that he didnt bring them.
Im not a telephone junkie.
If Im inserting my coin Im doing just fine.
And the things in my head start hurtin my mind.
And I think about the way things used to be,
Knowing you with him is driving me crazy.
Sometimes I phone you when I know youre not lonely,
But I always disconnect it in time.

Under My Wheels
Originally released on the alice cooper tribute cd humanary stew (by joe, phil and other artists, like clarence clemons),
Later also released on the cd-single for promises & australian version of euphoria.
The telephone is ringing
You got me on the run
Im driving in my car now
Anticipating fun
Im driving right up to you, babe
I guess that you couldnt see, yeah yeah
But you under my wheels
Why dont you let me be
cause when you call me on the telephone
Saying take me to the show
And then I say, honey, I just cant go
Old ladys sick and I cant leave her home
The telephone is ringing
You got me on the run
Im driving in my car now
I got you under my wheels
I got you under my wheels
I got you under my wheels
Yeah yeah
I got you under my wheels
Yeah yeah
I got you under my wheels
The telephone is ringing
You got me on the run
Im driving in my car now
Anticipating fun
Im driving right up to you, babe
I guess that you couldnt see, yeah yeah
But you was under my wheels, honey
Why dont you let me be, yeah yeah
I got you under my wheels
I got you under my wheels
I got you under my wheels
I dont wanna get my hands dirty

0020 The Faithful Servant
and when she took the job
of being his secretary, adored
his manliness – his powers,
his integrity, his fierce command,
his piercing blue eyes, and
his mischief…how could she not
eventually, become his wife?
Faithful to her wedding vows, she
miscarried twice, eventually
bore him a son; allowing him
to continue making all the family decisions
which eventually cut them off
from both their families – even
took his side in the many battles
with his disoriented son battling for his own identity;
and when – eventually –
stone deaf, demented, and incontinent,
and fierce as ever, blue eyes blazing
with anger, he became impossible,
she continued to nurse him single-handed;
loved, honoured, and obeyed;
love found the impossible to be the possible.
Who can doubt, the faithful servant
is greater than the master?
This, love never tells; but knows.

At Least
Oh, hmm oh yeah, hmm, hmm, hmm
I'm on way back to Atlanta
About to start a new life
Cause I can't take it here
It seems the more we fight
The more the pressure
I'm in this lonely house
Sitting high up on a hill
Pressin' the buttons on the control
Flipping through channels on TV
Wondering when you're coming home
And take care of family
At least you can call and say I'm busy
At least you can say I'm running late
At least you can give some kind of notice
Let somebody know that you're okay
At least you can take some time to phone
At least you can just one day stay home
At least you can take me out to me
If you love me, you would've done those things
You won't miss me till I'm gone
Impossible to drink from a well that's gone dry, yeah
And every night you come in singing the same old song
How could you do me wrong?
When you know it ain't right
Pressin' the buttons on the control
Flipping through channels on TV
Wondering when you're coming home
And take care of family
At least you can call and say I'm busy
At least you can say I'm running late
At least you can give some kind of notice
Let somebody know that you're okay
At least you can take some time to phone
At least you can just one day stay home
At least you can take me out to me
If you love me, you would've done those things
Take in a movie show, a carnival
A place to go, we can be alone
But instead I'm staring at these matching walls
The weekends spent, a compliment
Flowers sent would've kept me at home
But now instead I'm packing my bags and I'm gone
At least you can call and say I'm busy
At least you can say I'm running late
At least you can give some kind of notice
Let somebody know that you're okay
At least you can take some time to phone
At least you can just one day stay home
At least you can take me out to me
If you love me, you would've done those things
At least you can call and say I'm busy
At least you can say I'm running late
At least you can give some kind of notice
Let somebody know that you're okay
At least you can take some time to phone
At least you can just one day stay home
At least you can take me out to me
If you love me, you would've done those things
All I wanted was a smile
For you to stay a little while
It's too late for it
Cause you forgot the little things, whoa, oh
At least you can call and say I'm busy
At least you can say I'm running late
At least you can give some kind of notice
Let somebody know that you're okay
At least you can take some time to phone
At least you can just one day stay home
At least you can take me out to me
If you love me, you would've done those things

Far More Satisfying
The moment expectations become,
More important than a relationship...
One is led to believe,
Is shared with someone...
And a lack of feeling,
Verifies something is missing...
And has gone.
Those expectations,
Become less important to fulfill...
Than talking on the telephone,
With an obscene caller.
And far more satisfying,
Each time those obscenities are placed.
'I'm busy right now.
But...
Is it possible you can call back,
At eight thirty?
I'm sure my mate and I will not be speaking,
At that time.'

For You To Notice...
I'm starting to fashion an idea in my head
where I would impress you
with every single word I said.
Would come out insightful or brave or smooth or charming
and you'd want to call me
And I would be there every time
you'd need me
I'd be there every time...
But for now I'll look so longingly
waiting...
For you to want me

And This Night
And this night that is ending,
bruising into the blue of an impossible rose,
and the windows opening their eyes to the light
that pales the stars from the sky like dreams;
and a man trying to keep the starving candle in his skull
from going out, the emptiness of the dark from demanding
oblivion from the day, the mouth of the morning
no beginning, but the start of a busy grave;
how can he tell his heart what his eyes already see
in the mirrors that mourn like hired grief,
some distant galaxy expanding into space,
some island of light in the forsaken depths of time,
that he's already the ghost of a future memory,
that a silo of ashes isn't enough to feed the flame
of the fire he's cherished in the boat of his hands
like a wounded bird he taught to sing for years,
and how to fly higher than the world is kind
like a hawk with broken wings, or an injured mind?
I see eyes in the dark soaked up like rain,
wildflowers in a field, the keys of unbound clocks,
and they're staring at me on a rocky precipice alone,
the lip of a vast abyss where even the winds don't go,
and they seem to know who I am, and why I must suffer
more deeply than the words of an eloquent man
who no longer answers his pain in silver tongues
but stands voiceless in the gulf of the silence before him,
mute, broken, baffled, a ladder stripped of rungs.

The Swift Wings Of Time
haven't you learned
your lesson? you call a friend
he is busy attending to a new born child
you call a cousin
he is getting married and busy preparing for
his wedding
the last one you call
had already gone to the U.S.
on a care giving job
a niece has just flown to
Canada
bringing with her
a family of her own
now
you accept it as a fact again
you are on your own trail again
left out by the swift wings of
time
wondering if
you have something to hold on
and
survive...

Telephone
(b. edwards/d. miller)
When you feel like you need someone there
Feel like no one really cares
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there
When you feel like you really need love
Ill always be by your side
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there
Everyone needs someone to love
Call me, Ill give you love
When you feel like you need someone there
Feel like no one really cares
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there
Well share a love that will never end
Lean on me and Ill be your friend
In your darkest hour Ill be your light
Like a star shining in the night
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there
Everyone needs someone to love
Call me, and Ill give you love
In my heart, youd have a home
But Ill never leave you alone
When you feel like you need someone there
Feel like no one really cares
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there
When you feel like you really need love
Ill always be by your side
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there
When you feel like you need someone there
Feel like no one really cares
Call me on the telephone
Ill be there

The Unexpected....
there are things that we cannot
but accept
bitter pills to swallow because
they say they make us well
and there are things too that we must throw away
because they are too sweet
and can kill us
sometimes in doubt
because of too much noise in the diversity of opinions
and we have become exhausted of those ever busy hours
making our own
and listening to all the chatters of the air
we simply stop doing anything
we sit and take the quiet
at this moment we become too light
as we empty whatever we think we have
and we realize
this is good this is another beginning
we have become new
and young again

This Charming Man
Punctured bicycle
On a hillside desolate
Will nature make a man of me yet ?
When in this charming car
This charming man
Why pamper life's complexities
When the leather runs smooth
On the passenger seat ?
I would go out tonight
But i haven't got a stitch to wear
This man said "it's gruesome
That someone so handsome should care"
A jumped-up pantry boy
Who never knew his place
He said "return the rings"
He knows so much about these things
He knows so much about these things
I would go out tonight
But i haven't got a stitch to wear
This man said "it's gruesome
That someone so handsome should care"
Oh, la-la, la-la, la-la, this charming man ...
Oh, da-da, da-da, da-da, this charming man ...
A jumped-up pantry boy
Who never knew his place
He said "return the ring"
He knows so much about these things
He knows so much about these things
He knows so much about these things

A Busy Man
This crowded life of God's good giving
No man has relished more than I;
I've been so goldarned busy living
I've never had the time to die.
So busy fishing, hunting, roving,
Up on my toes and fighting fit;
So busy singing, laughing, loving,
I've never had the time to quit.
I've never been one for thinking
I've always been the action guy;
I've done my share of feasting, drinking,
And lots of wenching on the sly.
What all the blasted cosmic show meant,
I've never tried to understand;
I've always lived just for the moment,
And done the thing that came to hand.
And now I'll toddle to the garden
And light a good old Henry Clay.
I'm ninety odd, so Lord, please pardon
My frequent lapses by the way.
I'm getting tired; the sunset lingers;
The evening star serenes the sky;
The damn cigar burns to my fingers . . .
I guess . . . I'll take . . . time off . . . to die.
