Milwaukee, WI
O, to be a mad man
a poet
a genius
a revolutionist
who can grasp
the Californian sands
To abandon
the Midwestern mind
the Midwestern simpletons
Who, when starved
feast on footballs,
beer, and tits
O, these Wisconsin traditions
leaving trails of dead deer
trails which lead to a couch
in time for reality T.V.
O, how this mirror
brings me peace
in a reflected solitude
a glass sanctuary
alone and away
from a world not my own
in my salty eyes
I stay
Every direction
every turn
every highway
every attempt to escape
is just a deceitful
dead end
How can my planet spin
in a city so flat?
O, Milwaukee
How I hate you
and your polluted
snatch

As I've often said, Wisconsin's greatest strength continues to be the dedicated, hardworking people of our state. They go to work everyday, pay their taxes, and raise their kids with good, Midwestern values.
The SUn is Calling
The sun is
Calling me- I do not hear- though
Only the flapping of the wings of the
Canadian wild geese and the
Far away footsteps of
The intruders who follow me-
I can faintly hear the
Rays of the sun in the distance screaming their doleful cries,
Masked by the motion of the branches of the wild oak and cedar trees
As they shiver in the early morning’s draft-
Water rushes down the creek that adorns the trail
Beside which I walk-
Robins and cardinals chant their early morning litany-
Deer stand stalwart close to the path ahead of me-
I hear footsteps behind me as I turn my head although
All I can see is the sky-
Inside of my mind I have built a sanctuary, and
A small cabin in which to hide-
As I walk deeper into the thicket,
I begin to lose myself into another place in time-
Thee sun is calling me- I do not hear-
I have closed my eyes to the world around me and
Have lost myself inside of the world of my dreams
This world where I am omnipotent and no one is
Allowed to enter-
Somehow I find I cannot escape the grip that
This planet has made upon me-
The grip of ill fate and of mistrust-
It is the intruders who follow me
That clash with the beauty of the sun,
The loveliness of the song of the wild, and
With the mystery of the woodlands-
I would fly close to the sun with the
Canadian wild geese if I only had the wings to
Lift me off of the ground and
Carry myself to some other universe where
I could in reality be omnipotent and not afraid to sing-
To carry the tunes that keep my spirit alive as I abandon
The fear that has so deeply injured my soul-
The rays of the sun are screaming and a lone nightingale
Sings its soprano solo-
I break into a run carrying with me inside the safe haven of my thoughts,
The refuge of my delusions- and my flagging grasp on reality-
The sun is calling me-
This time I hear, as I feel the strength of my character evolving-
I look upward and see more than the sky, but
That could-be heaven and the faces of angels, as
They look down upon me in awe and admiration- I realize that
I have nothing to fear-
As nobody can rob me of my thoughts or of my imaginings and
I have come to the realization that I have found that other universe, if only in
The sanctuary of my dreams…

Tomorrows Dream
Well Im leaving tomorrow at daybreak
Catch the fastest train around nine
Yes Im leaving the sorrow and heartache
Before it takes me away from my mind
Send me love and I may let you see me
Send me hopes that can spin in my head
But if you really want me to answer
I can only let you know when Im dead
When sadness fills my days
Its time to turn away
And then tomorrows dreams
Become reality to me
So realize Im much better without you
Youre not the one and only thing in my heart
Ill just go back to pretending Im living
So this time Im gonna have to depart

Ballad (Bells Of Eternity)
with garbled tongues and mouths ablaze,
we walk this hallowed ground.
with angel's wings and demon's dreams,
trying to rhyme the holy sound.
into the depths of human need,
far past the touch of grasp.
the broken glass feel of the naked real,
that doesnt have to ask!
we forge our peace with weapons of war,
our gods are never satisfied.
swords converting, phallic spurting,
deciding who lives and who dies.
we drink the earth with maddened thirst,
and burn the pages of the book.
leaving smoking trails and personal hells,
for those who dare to look.
i cannot but speak, i cant go on,
the silence clutches at my breath.
to live this life in toil and strife,
to be forgotten in your death.
still glass images of the faces,
whose eyes burn but never turn.
whose hearts darkened by the angry blow,
sacred flesh that time discerns.
to be continued....

Peace Poets
We are a bunch of peace poets
We hate war and sing songs of peace
Poets of the planet, come and join us
Our pens are now much stronger than weapons
It roars more than a gun.
Planet belong to peace lovers
Warmongers have no place on this planet
Days of warmongers are over
We are a bunch of peace poets
We sing songs of peace.
Oh poets of this planet
Come and join us
We shall make our planet a heaven
Warmongers are dead forever.

Calico Plains
(matraca berg/mike noble)
Sweet abilena looks out at the midwestern sky
Sweet seventeen with a faraway look in her eyes
She said, I feel like a bird in a cage
But come september Im flying away
I said, Im gonna miss you then I made her promise to write
Since we were tall as the corn in the spring
We shared every secret, shared every dream
So anxious to grow in the new summer rain
And bloom like a rose on the calico plains
How could she hear as we laughed on that warm summer night
The tiny heart of the baby she carried inside
I stood beside her when september came
Watched her get married and caught the bouquet
And like those hand me down dresses she gave me
I made her dreams mine
From a seat by the window on wings made of steel
I stared at the patchwork over the fields
Where young tears that once fell like warm summer rain
Were turning to snow on the calico plains
Sweet abilena looks out at the midwestern sky
Closer to thirty but farther away in her eyes
She holds her babies like she holds her dreams
Each night she kisses and rocks them to sleep while
She reads the letters she makes me promise to write
Sweet abliena looks out at the midwestern sky

Happy Trails
Happy Trails
I once heard a song
Happy trails to you
Sung by a man on a horse
A golden palomino that ran, danced. And counted to ten
and more
Happy trails would end the show
A show of violence, killing, murder and more
Let’s chase down the bad guy
Defend the defendable
And after the fights, the death, the murder
The hero kissed the girl and sang that cheerful song
Happy trails to you until we meet again
Meet again so you can see the death and destruction
all over again
But if you are a hero in everyone’s mind
Death and destruction is alright and happy trails to
you until we meet again

Jack the Ripper
in every city
of the world
there is a
jack the ripper
he scoffs and
laughts at
those he killed
and also those
he did not kill
there is a jack
the ripper in
every city
of the world
he tears at
all our heart
from behind
the door
behind our back
leaving us
helpless
sobbing
through the night
there is a jack
the ripper
in every city
he scoffs at
our front
and our back
yet like our
shadow we
could never
pin him down
he trails us
day and night
leaving a
foreboding
menacing
darkness
in the corridors
of our mind
there is a
jack the ripper
in every city
ever ready
to jump at
you anytime
anywhere
given an
ounce of
the darkness
of night

Another Dusty Trail
He had walked the desert
For a lifetime; he had pursued trails
Leading nowhere but to buried dreams.
He was at last on the trail of the dead.
The winding last trail he could take.
Every other way was misleading, confusing.
He accepted that he had to suffer,
And suffer greatly,
Because he had worn-out feet.
Without feet he had no trails left.
Except one.

What Fool Fuels Hate?
What fool fuels hate?
And makes it okay...
To take and take.
While creating hate!
What fool fuels hate?
To make themselves victims,
Of a hate they create!
What fool fuels hate?
And makes it okay...
To take and take.
While creating hate!
What fool fuels hate?
To make themselves victims,
Of a hate they create!
The love of peace is not a feast for a few to eat.
To enrich themselves while leaving others deplete!
And homeless...
On our city streets.
The love of peace is not a feast for a few to eat.
To declared what's stolen from others,
To say...
They are the enemy to beat!
What fool fuels hate?
And makes it okay...
To take and take.
While creating hate!
The love of peace is not a feast for a few to eat.
What fool fuels hate?
To enrich themselves while leaving others deplete!
What fool fuels hate?
To take and take and take to say,
They have enemies to beat.
What fool fuels hate?
And makes it okay...
To take and take.
While creating hate!
What fool fuels hate?
To make themselves victims,
Of a hate they create!
The love of peace is not a feast for a few to eat.
What fool fuels hate?
To enrich themselves while leaving others deplete!
What fool fuels hate?
To take and take and take to say,
They have enemies to beat.
Living on our city streets.
Victimizing in unconsciousness...
With themselves to defeat.
What fool fuels hate?

Another Side of Myself
I hate the girl in the mirror,
she wont ever be good enough,
Shes been crying, her makeup is in smears.
Her cry can be herd from so far away,
But nobody can come if they are frozen,
Or thats what they say.
I hate the girl in the mirror,
Her eyes show too much regret.
Her lifes been too hard to forget.
I hate the girl in the mirror,
as funny as it seems
she moves at the same time i do.
I hate the girl in the mirror
i cant explain how, i cant explain why.
Even if i could i dont know if id try.
I hate the girl in the mirror
Shes too fat,
Her boobs they are too flat.
I hate the girl in the mirror
She waits for me
I wish you could see.
The girl in the mirror,
Looks so real, when i touch her hand
I realized i just touched mine.

The Man Who Has No Problems
The man who has no problems
My pastor once had said
Is not the one who had solved them
But the one who's already dead.
The man who has no problems
Is one who've lost his mind
He who has drugged his system
When peace he could not find.
The man who has no problems
Is he who drinks to flee
And drowns himself in alcohol
His escape from Reality
The man who has no problems
I doubt if there was one
For Life is full of challenges
Of tears and joy till it is done.
'I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart.'

Next Big Thing
Walking down the street, it's everywhere you see
Looking right at you and staring right at me
You can't escape it cause it's in your face
The stars are out, they're bright today
It's the latest craze it sets your eyes ablaze
They're just hopin' this ain't just a passing phase
Turn the cycle to a faster spin
Throw the has been's out bring a fresh face in
This is your only chance knock 'em dead
Show it if you got it. The world is watching you
Take it if you want it. What have you got to lose
Raise your glass you made it
Everyone's waiting for the next big thing,
The next big thing
So now you won the fight, there's no end in sight
Everyone's your friend, might as well take a bite
You've just made it while the others dream
But just make sure the cash register rings
They all know your name, it's such an easy game
If all goes well, you'll have you're minute of fame
Suddenly people want to help you now
Plug it in, make sure you play it loud
This is your only chance knock 'em dead
Show it if you got it. The world is watching you
Take it if you want it. What have you got to lose
Raise your glass you made it
Everyone's waiting for the next big thing,
The next big thing
Show it if you got it. The world is watching you
Take it if you want it. What have you got to lose
Raise your glass you made it
Everyone's waiting for the next big thing,
The next big thing
Keep that spotlight on, breath it in
Cause when it's over you will know your friends
Yeah you enjoy yourself, appreciate the help
You'll need all the help you can get
Show it if you got it. The world is watching you
Take it if you want it. What have you got to lose
Raise your glass you made it
Everyone's waiting for the next big thing,
The next big thing
Show it if you got it. The world is watching you
Take it if you want it. What have you got to lose
Raise your glass you made it
Everyone's waiting for the next big thing,
The next big thing

Guilty Innocence 02-18-2011
Purple skies and drainy eyes filled
with vingence and disguise..
Sunny drapes as purple grapes all
a setting soon regretting.
For the skies would turn to burn
of fire of a desire I admire..
Set for doom a killer bloomed in
the innocence yet consumed.
Trails of destruction are yet
ahead, footsteps bled apple red..
For who is raised to be a threat?
As one lyes dead, as one lyes dead.

Fantasy
Look into the mirror,
What can you truly see,
Is it a reflection of yourself,
Or is it reality?
I once dreamed I could fly away,
I had wings of my own,
This dream so precious, so real to me,
Encouraged me to stay,
What a deception it was when I woke at home,
My wings were clipped,
My dreams were shattered,
I had been cast off my throne.
The tears of pain that I shed,
Reminded me of what a wise man once said.
'When life is hard and your heart is dead,
Sanctuary can always be found,
In us is the way to be silently lead,
To a place where treasure is found'
So when you close your eyes at night,
I hope you will think of me.
And maybe despite the misery,
You and I, Princess and knight,
Will meet each other as we sleep,
To live an adventure, just us together,
Our perfect fantasy.

Right before your eyes
I'm a defender of crimes
Right before your eyes
Voters let us all be hypnotized.
Be lead defenders of lies
As city bankers wink with a grin
Let us scratch and toil - cry
In a unheated bathtub
Numb, let us bathe cold to save.
Darn your pockets dear
But there's no money, here
Save the bones
Of an old Christmas turkey
Oh I'm a defender of crimes
Right before your eyes
Voters let us all be hypnotized.
Be lead defenders of lies
As city bankers wink with a grin
Let us scratch and toil - cry
In selfish solitude till we die
Baby don't you cry baby there's
A chance…? We'll buy a lottery ticket
And ride-out our last chance again
And maybe save our souls the pain.
What more can I say
When the bailiffs
Have more roots in our home today
Than us or the bird perched
In the broken bay-window here to stay
Because I've blown all our money away
On beer and scratch cards they'll say…
Oh I'm a defender of crimes
Right before your eyes
Voters let us all be hypnotized.
Be lead defenders of lies
As city bankers wink with a grin
Let us scratch and toil - cry
Jesus, tell me what's gone wrong…?
The saints preserve us;
Our time left won't be long
In selfish solitude let us die
In selfish solitude let us die
In selfish solitude let us die.

All Dead, All Dead
Memories, my memories
How long can you stay
To haunt my days
She came without a farthing
A babe without a name
So much ado about nothing
Is what shed try to say
So much ado my lover
So many games we played
Through every fleeted summer
Through every precious day
All dead all dead
All the dreams we had
And I wonder why I still live on
All dead all dead
And alone Im spared
My sweeter half instead
All dead
And gone
All dead...
All dead all dead
At the rainbows end
And still I hear her own sweet song
All dead all dead
Take me back again
You know my little friends
All dead
And gone
All dead and gone
Her ways are always with me
I wander all the while
But please you must forgive me
I am old but still a child
All dead all dead
But I should not grieve
In time it comes to everyone
All dead all dead
But in hope I breathe
Of course I dont believe
Youre dead
And gone
All dead
And gone

Reflections Of Christmas Past
'I can hear sounds of bells, of that Christmas Day'
Another poet wrote, in their poetic way.
Of 'Peace on Earth, Good will to men.'
And still our earth seeks, that peace again!
Like Him, I bow in great despair
And pray that peace, be everywhere!
'Tho hate is strong, and mocks peace songs
Of Peace on earth, to those seem wrong.
But as the poet wrote, in time of yore
'Hate and greed shall be no more.
God is not dead, nor doth He sleep!
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail!
with, ' peace on earth Good will to men.'
When men put away all their hate and greed
And return to love and faith, for another's need!
Then we shall truly have again
'Peace on earth, and Good will to men! '
