Gather Ye Rosebuds
Gather ye rosebuds all who will,
and yet, though Time’s a-flying,
in one fair head, eternal still,
Life thrives, Death’s grin denying.
The glorious lamp of Heaven, the Sun,
as higher he is getting,
if e’er his praises were begun -
laws seasonal forgetting -
Go[l]d head embarrassed would be hung
as modesty’s essential,
in beauty all eclipsed are, st[r]ung
like pearls inconsequential.
God praises her, both first and last,
each other flits, - pale phantom, -
she’s envied now by Future, Past,
Life’s summons flows to summum...

Gather Love’s Petals - Parody Robert HERRICK – To the Virgins, to make much of Time and other parodies
Gather Love’s petals while you may,
old Time locks box, mocks sighing,
blush bloom of youth so lush today
soon sees rush hushed, croon dying.
Life’s almost done before begun,
there’s little sense in letting
Time fly, for fast the setting sun
lets out last room, forgetting.
You once would pay prompt to the day
the rent when you were letting,
and all will say, ‘ah, lack-a-day! ’ –
tomb’s prospect’s still upsetting.
So shed false mask, take book and flask,
a partner most becoming,
bread ‘neath the bough, nought else now ask,
as Death sucks breath, brain numbing.
True love forecast must never bask
on laurels – distant drumming
takes waste to task, haste to the task,
seek joy, don’t toy, go slumming!
Red rose in bloom bedecks the tomb
of love lost, cost uncounted,
grey shadows loom so don't assume
winged options once dismounted.
Ride not far and wide, pride set aside,
trust basic instincts inner,
much more beside wealth counts, two tied
by trust's win/win begin a
relationship unknown to whip,
to rip-tide which submerges
what lip to lip can offer hip
to hip's united urges.
That age is best when Youth has done
with superficial fretting,
right choice attested, others shun,
sage bats beat restless netting...
Decisions take, no past mistake
should hinder joy awaking,
so joy's hopes slake in passion's lake
let walls fall, towers quaking.
Gather ye rosebuds all who will,
and yet, though Time’s a-flying,
in one fair head, eternal still,
Life thrives, Death’s grin denying.
The glorious lamp of Heaven, the Sun,
as higher he is getting,
if e’er his praises were begun -
laws seasonal forgetting -
go[l]d head embarrassed would be hung -
some modesty’s essential -
vain beauty pains, gains cobwebs st[r]ung
like pearls inconsequential.
Life praises who free love and woo
where two true fit, pale phantom
none envy through tomorrow's dew -
Life’s summons flows to summum!
Garner Love’s petals while you play,
old Time locks box, mocks sighing,
youth's lush bloom blush scents rush today
wilts, sense sent spilt-milk crying.

To Virgins, to Make Much of Time
Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old time is still a-flying
And this same flower that smiles today
Tomorrow will be dying.
The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun,
The higher he's a-getting,
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he's to setting.
That age is best which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
Times still succeed the former.
Then be not coy, but use your time,
And, while ye may, go marry;
For, having lost but once your prime,
You may forever tarry.

Two Edged Sword
Down there past the pearls
Way past molecules
Past genes and planets
Past the ancient tree of the
Knowledge of good and evil
Living worlds of choice
Do you ever get a glimpse?
“When the doors of perception
Are cleansed we shall see things
As they are, Eternal”
Who shall cleanse these doors?
Wise men marvel at a baby king
Flesh and blood cannot enter
Those that try are burned alive
When they are in the desert, don’t go
When they rent their great halls, don’t go
When they try to sell you things, don’t go
Blessed are you meek
Blessed are you that hunger and thirst
After righteousness, you shall be filled
A star in the east shines
His heel was bruised and the battle won
The head of the serpent crushed
The door opened
Were you there when he hung the stars?
The tree of life blossoms
The angels guard the gate
Blue so Holy it sings
White so pure and bright it praises
Eternity is a two-edged sword

The Beauty Of Nature The Poets Inspire
Were I a poet I'd write of Nature's beauty around me
The songs of the birds on bush, hedge and tree
The flowers of the garden so lovely to see
The beauty of Nature to look at is free.
The babble of the waterways the brook, creek and rill
That flow to the river downland from the hill
That flows to the coast all the way to the sea
One of Nature's Goddess wonders none as great as she.
Of singing her praises could one ever tire
The beauty of Nature the poets inspire
To pen their poems to her of her praises they do sing
The beauty of Nature outlives her every Spring.
And though all of her life forms to life come and go
Goddess of Nature whose secrets anybody does not know
Will live on forever she will never die
Unlike all other mortals such as you and I.

What’s Up Yonder?
Friend did you ever truly ponder, the sky above and what’s up yonder?
Does your mind ever pierce the sky, to what’s up there and even why?
To a place you have never been, the place many call the third heaven.
A holy place where God resides, that’s well above the temporal skies.
High above these earthly clouds, are multitudes of Heavenly Crowds,
The many saints who went before, now in the presence of The Lord.
It’s a special place we are told, one that’s paved with streets of gold.
In this place flows a Crystal Sea, from under The Throne of Eternity.
And there will be a River of Life, that flows from the Throne of Christ.
On each side is a Tree of Life, for healing the nations of their strife.
There will be no more night, for The Lord God will give all men light.
Heaven’s Light will be His Son; He’s The Eternal Light for everyone.
But, is this place truly there, and why would a Holy God even care?
To extend to mere mortal men, a place for us, to live forever friend.
Heaven is a place that’s pure, and will remain that way forevermore.
A place that’s free of sin and strife, where all men live a blissful Life.
There we’ll have an eternal home, beside God’s Everlasting Throne.
On that Throne, above the sea, where Christ shall reign for Eternity.
Have you ever pondered friend, just where in eternity you will spend?
For Heaven is a place for sure; a place you get to through The Lord.
The curse of earth shall be gone, and replaced with an Eternal Song.
Eternal Praises to Christ our Lord, who upon a wicked cross endured,
A wicked death for both you and me, so that we could live for eternity.
It was His life Christ chose to give, so in Heaven forever we could live.

Forward ever ascending on a stairway to heaven
Me and the children and mama make seven
My senses take over as we start to float
Higher and higher on a huge starbound boat
Forward ever ascending, our head in the clouds
I watch as the dolphins tear off all their shrouds
Your head is a halo, it catches the light
As i enter the gates what a glorious sight
Over and over and over and over, over and over and over we go
Over and over and over and over
Higher and higher and higher and higher
Higher and higher on a big black starliner

Sandrine Sonnet Cycle - Sonnet XVIII - Parody William Shakespeare
Shall I compare her to a summer’s day?
A thousand times more sweet she seems to me!
Nor may Time’s winds – (which darling buds of May
Do shake) – unsettle love’s perennity.
Restrained the eye of heaven sometimes seems,
It often sends a drought, or shines too hot,
No permanence is possible. Like dreams
Each season soon declines, returning not.
Vain are Time’s threats when, lacking base designs,
A poet frames her praises in fair verse,
Imprinting for the future lyric lines
Lending life when all else hearse rehearse.
Life glories her as long as Man draws breath,
As Never tasting shadow land of Death ...

Signals 0553
Great expectations which once fed deep dreams
Are tempered by Life's harsh realities.
Is Time a spiral twist of Fate to tease
Love out of shape, while all ambition seems
Half-hearted, self-[d]elusive? Man Man deems
A masterpiece, while ‘neath pale skin worms, fleas,
Repose twixt fits of laughter and disease.
Come, let us turn our thoughts to fonder themes!
Unique one smile, two eyes, eternal beams,
Send signals none ignore. Such qualities
Grow so all praises superfluities
Are seen to be. Beauty's and Truth's demesne
In one alone unite, and who would wed
Lives crowned by joys known to no other head!

The eternal story
Long before time its race began
or upon earth stepped the first man.
Before planets their circuits made
or light its virgin rays displayed.
The Council of the Triune One
Father, Holy Spirit and Son.
In eternity past did plan
to come and die for sinful man.
'Who shall I send' was the great cry.
'Here I am, send me', the reply.
Then as a small babe wrapped in flesh
came the Lord our Righteousness.
Angelic host proclaimed the birth
for their Lord had come down to earth.
God confined to a human span
had come to live and walk with man.
Jesus lived and walked amongst men
sharing with us wisdom from heaven.
His sinless life men could not stand.
So they removed Him from the land.
The Saviour of the human race
hung upon the cross in disgrace
and then as He succumbed to death.
Upon that tree drew His last breath.
Where as He hung His head to die
'It is finished' came His great cry.
Then deep into the grave He went.
Where three days and three nights He spent.
Hell was not able hold its' prey.
He tore the bars of death away.
He who died came to life again
and arose from that dark domain.
A peon of praise fills the skies.
The Lord our God it magnifies.
Throughout heaven the chorus rings.
Proclaiming Jesus King of kings.
Angel hosts take up the refrain
'Holy is the Lord', they proclaim.
Then our voices join the great throng
singing God's praises all day long.
Give Thanks & Praises
Give thanks and praises to the most-i (jah!);
Give thanks and praises so high (so high).
He will not deceive us my brethren;
He will only lead us again (again):
Oh, take that veil from off of your eyes;
Look into the future of realize.
Noah had three sons, ham, shem and japhet (ham, shem and japhet);
And in ham is known to be the prophet.
Glory to jah, the prophet is come (through all these ages);
Glory to jah, the prophet has come (through all these stages).
When my soul was hurtin deep within,
And Im worrying to be free, desperately, yeah.
So guide and protect ini, o jah - jah,
Through all these ages;
Guide and protect ini, o jah - jah,
Through all these stages.
Rastafari is his name (jah!) -
Rastafari is his name (jah!).
If jah didnt love I (love I),
If I didnt love I (love I),
If jah didnt love I (love I),
If I didnt love i,
Would I be around today?
Would I be around to say:
Give thanks and praises, give thanks and praises;
Give thanks and praises, give thanks and praises;
Give thanks and praises, give thanks and praises. /fadeout/

Constant Time
Time past and the future give way to this present picture,
But can somebody tell me how to recognize that gate that leads to the bed of roses,
We speak about the future like the past is a grain of sand on the shore,
Washed away by the ocean tide,
Giving way to new grains to make a portrait of the present,
These past memories stay deep in our heart like the depths of the ocean,
Though it gets washed back to shore ones in a blue moon,
Reminding us that our past is a standard measurement of our strength,
Time moves so fast making the past to fade away,
this makes us seem so secured about the present,
Forgetting the fact that our present becomes our past that was once a present from nature as a new day,
Some take the future to be a dream and a wish,
But I take my future to be what I see when I stand from the bottom of the mountain to look at the top,
And my past to be the depth of the ocean that can always be washed ashore …
The only thing I can control is my present,
Yes cos my mind controls my hands to give you a flash of what goes on in my head
Like this words i write to you was once my future and will become my past, making my future my past and my past my future..So ironical isn’t it?
Standing here I sure know 1 thing,
I will reach the top by that foot path,
Yes of course it’s not to mean that I wouldn’t fall,
But I have to break myself off my present past and walk with grace to stand where I belong,
There where I am the king of my destiny,
The past is just going to be a page of memories,
And my future will become my present making time constant in my head,
Because I stand on my past which was once my present and my present which was once my future, making time equal and constant
As I flip thru this page of life,

I Hung My Head
Early one morning with time to kill
I borrowed jebs rifle and sat on the hill
I saw a lone rider crossing the plain
I drew a bread on him to practice my aim
My brothers rifle went off in my hand
A shot rang out across the land
The horse he kept running, the rider was dead
I hung my head, I hung my head
I set off running to wake from the dream
And my brothers rifle went into the stream
I kept on running into the salt lands
And thats where they found me, my head in my hands
The sheriff he asked me "why had I run"
Then it came to me just what I had done
And all for no reason, just one piece of lead
I hung my head, I hung my head
Here in the courthouse, the whole town is there
I see the judge high up in his chair
"explain to the courtroom what went through your mind
And well ask the jury what verdict they find"
I said "i felt the power of death over life
I orphaned his children, I widowed his wife
I beg their forgiveness, I wish I was dead"
I hung my head, I hung my head
Early one morning with time to kill
I see the gallows up on the hill
And out in the distance a trick of the brain
I see a lone rider crossing the plain
Hes come to fetch me to see what they done
Well ride together til kingdom come
I pray for gods mercy for soon Ill be dead
I hung my head, I hung my head

On Reading Omar Khayyam
[During an anti-saloon campaign, in central Illinois.]
In the midst of the battle I turned,
(For the thunders could flourish without me)
And hid by a rose-hung wall,
Forgetting the murder about me;
And wrote, from my wound, on the stone,
In mirth, half prayer, half play: —
"Send me a picture book,
Send me a song, to-day."
I saw him there by the wall
When I scarce had written the line,
In the enemy's colors dressed
And the serpent-standard of wine
Writhing its withered length
From his ghostly hands o'er the ground,
And there by his shadowy breast
The glorious poem I found.
This was his world-old cry:
Thus read the famous prayer:
"Wine, wine, wine and flowers
And cup-bearers always fair!"
'Twas a book of the snares of earth
Bordered in gold and blue,
And I read each line to the wind
And read to the roses too:
And they nodded their womanly heads
And told to the wall just why
For wine of the earth men bleed,
Kingdoms and empires die.
I envied the grape stained sage:
(The roses were praising him.)
The ways of the world seemed good
And the glory of heaven dim.
I envied the endless kings
Who found great pearls in the mire,
Who bought with the nation's life
The cup of delicious fire.
But the wine of God came down,
And I drank it out of the air.
(Fair is the serpent-cup,
But the cup of God more fair.)
The wine of God came down
That makes no drinker to weep.
And I went back to battle again
Leaving the singer asleep.

Song Of The Sun
(hymas / brown)
Head into the sun you aint the only one
To miss the last train back to your life
Head into the sun all that the night has done
Will fade if you hang on really tight
Theres always reasons for runnin down the road
Everytime it snows
You know its so easy to take the time to grow
You know this flight is
Heading into the sun riding a little bit higher
We are one we are one
Just begun song of the sun
Head into the sun you aint the only one
To blow the first few bars of the tune
Head into the sun all that the night has done
Will fade if you move on really soon
Theres always reasons for puttin on the wheels
Everytime its real
You know its easy to get into the feel
You know this flight is
Heading into the sun
Riding a little bit higher
We are one we are one
Just begun song of the sun
Break
Theres always reasons for puttin on the wheels
Everytime its real
You know its so easy to get into the feel
You know this flight is
Heading into the sun
Riding a little bit higher
We are one we are one
Just begun song of the sun

A Song Of The Sea.
Here within the half-light 'tween the night and day
Upon the sands I lie, with thoughts that idly stirr'd
Seem, as in a dream, with life and death to play,
As o'er the sea there flits a pale white bird.
In my heart I hear it, the murmur of the sea,
Ah! and memories of other lives are stirr'd,
As somewise there came a mystic voice to me
As o'er the sea there flits a pale white bird.
Who but knows that in me is a ghost that hears
A voice it heard of old in the primeval word —
A memory so dim, it like a dream appears
As o'er the sea there flits a pale white bird!

The flatterer
The one who praises you in front, flatters.
The other who praises you behind, admires.
The one who praises you in front and
Derides you behind is worse than a foe.

The Tattoo
Wearing little
but pants
a grin and cigar
you laughed
out loud
your crazy grin.
Your arms covered
in scars
and
gang tattoos
from your
colorful past.
Still embedded in arm;
a bullet,
and in your head
the story
of how
and when
and why
Seeing you there
staggering drunk
in the pale
pre dawn light
I wonder:
are you drinking
because its Friday
or to forget
the naked cement floor
under your soles,
the roaches and rats
in the ally,
a tattoo that reads love
eternal
like me?

Licia Sonnets 33
I wrote my sighs, and sent them to my love;
I praised that fair that none enough could praise;
But plaints nor praises could fair Licia move;
Above my reach she did her virtues raise,
And thus replied: "False Scrawl, untrue thou art,
To feign those sighs that nowhere can be found;
For half those praises came not from his heart
Whose faith and love as yet was never found.
Thy master's life, false Scrawl shall be thy doom;
Because he burns, I judge thee to the flame;
Both your attempts deserve no better room."
Thus at her word we ashes both became.
Believe me, fair, and let my paper live;
Or be not fair, and so me freedom give.
