Of things eerie

Of the unfrequented storeroom
Opposite the unlit kitchen which
You inevitably face while making
Your last drink for the night
Two unseen eyes staring at you
From the room that seems to
Have become the hideaway for cantankerous spirits
Of the uneasy silence at early dawn in a forlorn
Lane near an accident spot which had
Claimed a life, his soul crying out for
Aids to fulfil his dreams in this world
Of the minutes in a quiet moonlit night
When the bus had stopped right in the shadows and
Gate of a vacant house which you know is haunted
Of the disturbed sleep in a small hotel
Where your bed faced a bathroom which seemed to
Harbour someone constantly looking over you
Of the swing in a lonely park
That moves and creaks in the winds at midnight

A haunted house

it stands on multiple wooden poles
and right between them a flight of stairs
that goes up straight to the back or kitchen
so that when somebody walks down you see
his feet, shins and thighs before you see the person

the house faces a huge raintree
that divides two roads
car lamps therefore shine directly onto
the poles of the house and cast shadows
that flash and lift themselves up over the
compound

the house they say is haunted
at night bus uses to stop just outside
to let passengers down
their shadows invariably running all
over the house when a car comes
in the opposite direction
everything then seems to be moving
except its unrelenting quietness
and forboding menacing atmosphere

i once was let down here
one last passenger in the dead of night
all the nooks and corners of the
abandoned house all of a sudden
became eyes that stared at me
like eager and lonely ghosts
longing for friends
my heart beat faster than my legs
could carry me
the house stood solemnly quiet
like an old, cold, lonely woman in despair

This House Is Haunted

I was sitting in my room, dark and gray and crying
Someone in my life I fear was at the point of dying
A cold wind blew right up my spine, it was the break of dawn
A little voice went deep inside told me she was gone
Oh...This house is haunted
Oh...That's how I want it to be
Oh...This house is haunted
You can always stay here with me...
No more singing, no more laughing, no more sunny days
She left and took the colors with her, buried in her grave
This is where we climbed the tower, this is where she fell
Then when her young heart stopped beating, I went to hell
Oh...This house is haunted
Oh...Ha....
Oh...This house is haunted
Ho...Oh...
You float through the living room, I watch my TV
I feel you sit down on the couch right here next to me
Then I feel your lips touch mine just like we used to do
I'm so happy all alone being here with you...

Don't Go Chasing Shadows

Don't go chasing shadows
When the night is a lion
Into a night that goes
With the last of a lonely ion

The night is in my love song
Thru the dark and mist
All days that touches and long
That yearning have kissed
Day by day left behind
Morning weary waking eyes
To the light day shall find
In the mist of daybreak skies

Don't go chasing shadows
When the night is a lion
Into a night that goes
With the last of a lonely ion

All in heart of the deep
Blossoms growing in spring
What they felt in their sleep
As they turn around to sing
Tomorrow´s awaking call
Feelings torching like lullabies
Beautiful dreams for all
Making love and inner ties

Dreams will never come true
If you keep on going lonely
Never seeing them coming thru
Just being inside of you only

Don't go chasing shadows
Don't go chasing shadows
When the night is a lion
Into a night that goes
With the last of a lonely ion

Another Day

Wake not the dawn too early,
Let night remain a while,
It's painful to face another day,
Without your loving smile.

Wake not the dawn too early,
Let night hide me away,
So I need not face another day,
Having had no communique.

Wake not the dawn too early,
Let night my sweet refuge be,
For having to face another day,
Would be sheer agony for me.

Wake not the dawn too early,
Let night my dreams suffuse,
How can I face another day,
When my heart cannot enthuse.

Wake not the dawn too early,
Let night be my stalwart shield,
Then maybe I can face another day,
When my sadness has been healed.

Mouths To Feed...

the wind called...
and i went walking,
down hard edged streets,
past the abandoned and forsaken...

through dirt and filth,
grime, grease, and soot.
down past the edge of town...
i made camp by the tracks.

haunted by the sounds
of living now just echoes,
echoes and shadows,
shadows almost forgotten.

haunted by the faces,
the dreams, the fires now ash...
the smell of need and
the harsh stench of hunger.

i made a leanto from yesterday's boards,
built a small fire, hunched
against the cold and the howl.
into a small pot all that was left,

and waited for the Guest to arrive.
day became sunset, sunset night.
the darkness wrapped with murky doubt.
then, from behind the clouds,

one star shone through...
and i knew the time,
i knew the answer...
no time for sleep, no sleep for dreams,

i spent the night making ready.
and stood to face the dawn,
with nothing left to hide,
and nothing left to cling to!

a new day, perhaps my last,
one day to make a life.
i turned back towards the town,
and went in search of...

mouths to feed, tears to wipe away!

Behind The Window

Behind the window there’s a room
An untidy bedroom
A closed bathroom
A classy lobby
A busy kitchen
A tense meeting room

Behind the window there’s a life
A messy life
An ordinary life
A perfect life
A hard life
A fraud life

Behind the window there’s a face
A curious face
A lonely face
A smiling face
A tired face
A bored face

Behind the window there’s a story
A funny accident
A sad moment
A happy picture
A meaningless fight
A dull living

Haunted

The yawn of an opening door,
the creak on the stairs
of someone unseen descending there.
They are the classic opening
to a ghostly tale of a haunted house
where spirits dwell down a leafy lonely lane.
Now that is in the movies or a paperback novel.
However, when we see a place that resembles that
a cold chill goes through us as if it is real.
In reality, haunted buildings
are just ordinary ones we see.
The ones you wouldn’t expect to be haunted at all.

Hideaway

Pop/jones
I need to touch
A live unbeaten earth
So thats where Im going
I know a town in n.w. mexico
Where the sun is gold and life exists
Hideaway hideaway truly
Hideaway hideaway truly
My country got
Raped by big industry
Well just have to wing it
The concrete strips raw greed and king tv
They say so what I say so this
Hideaway hideaway truly
Hideaway hideaway truly
I can hear children voices playing in a yard
When I hear children voices my feelings arent so hard
Your honest face
Your quiet simple grace
You are one thing
I will not waste
Hideaway hideaway truly
Hideaway hideaway truly

Another Lonely Night

Another lonely night
has come to visit me.
Another lonely night will never bring to me
loving hands to keep me warm
or peaceful thoughts to help me form
dreams of passion to start a fire
in this lonely soul.
It's so very cold,
much too cold without you.

Inside I have a hollow spot
that can't be filled
where you are not.
And so I await my lonely night
and another lonely, lonely sight.
A bed for sleeping, not for fun.
I lay unrested through the hours
and face reality.
Another lonely night is here
where there's only me.

Shadows Call

There is a shadow in the hall
and I wonder who is there.
I lay in my bed at night
listening to the creaks and groans
of memories made long ago,
of the dreams I once had
in the shadows of my youth.
We leave so many tracks
as our life progresses.
Now as the shadows call,
we wonder which is
the track we are recalling,
but that will soon be forgotten
as sleep captures us
in the night as shadows call.

Solitude

WHEN you have tidied all things for the night,
And while your thoughts are fading to their sleep,
You'll pause a moment in the late firelight,
Too sorrowful to weep.

The large and gentle furniture has stood
In sympathetic silence all the day
With that old kindness of domestic wood;
Nevertheless the haunted room will say:
'Someone must be away.'

The little dog rolls over half awake,
Stretches his paws, yawns, looking up at you,
Wags his tail very slightly for your sake,
That you may feel he is unhappy too.

A distant engine whistles, or the floor
Creaks, or the wandering night-wind bangs a door

Silence is scattered like a broken glass.
The minutes prick their ears and run about,
Then one by one subside again and pass
Sedately in, monotonously out.

You bend your head and wipe away a tear.
Solitude walks one heavy step more near.

We Can Make The Morning

(words & music by j. ramsey)
I just thought I heard a small voice crying
Looked again and saw that it was me
I feel like a little boy denying
That he fears the night cause he cant see
Then a larger thought said stop your crying
Dont be scared to search cause you may find
Fate holds out a candle for your footsteps
Time rolls back the shadows of your mind
Its a long, long lonely night
You can make the morning if you try
Its a long, long lonely night
Oh, we can make the morning if we try
Girl, we can make the morning you and i
Together, together, together
Loneliness is darkness first companion
Spend the night alone and faith may bend
Share it all and see how fear starts fading
Chase away the shadows with a friend
Dawns elusive light is just beginning
Now the day can push away the night
Dreams can make the sun feel much brighter
Hope creates a foothold for the light
Its a long, long lonely night
We can make the morning if we try
Its a long, long lonely night
We can make the morning if we try
Girl, we can make the morning you and i, oh
Together
Its a long, long lonely night
We can make the morning if we try
Its a long, long lonely night
We can make the morning if we try
Its a long, long lonely night
We can make the morning if we try

Gimme Gimme Gimme

Half past twelve
And I'm watching the late show in my flat all alone
How I hate to spend the evening on my own
Autumn winds
Blowing outside my window as I look around the room
And it makes me so depressed to see the gloom
There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day
Movie stars
Find the end of the rainbow, with a fortune to win
It's so different from the world I'm living in
Tired of T.V.
I open the window and I gaze into the night
But there's nothing there to see, no one in sight
There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight...
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight...
There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Bedsitterland

Writers: leo sayer & frank farrell
Im thinking of taking
The easy way out
Open the window
Ill fall to the ground
I could do it -- wouldnt be much too it
I gotta little place here in the city
Its kind of small and dirty, its a bedsitter
And theres a lot of us living here
Wall to wall in one big house
And when the night comes round
I can see a lot of lonely lights
There are people in there breathing
But it dont seem right
In the streets way down below me
Im listening for just a sound
But nobody comes around
In bedsitterland
And theres a man below me on the balcony
Crying to be heard
Screaming to be heard
Im haunted by his words
And the people in the street just shrug their shoulders
Saying hes disturbed
Hes in another world
Screaming at the birds
Crying to be heard
I hear his every word
Ive slept in the gutter on a summers day
Oh Ive bummed cigarettes in the night cafes
Ive joined the breadline
Believe I got a deadline
I gotta little place here in the city
Its kind of small and dirty, its a bedsitter
And theres a lot of us living here
Wall to wall in one big house
And when the night comes round
I can see a lot of lonely lights
There are people in there breathing
But it dont seem right
In the streets way down below me
Im listening for just a sound
But nobody comes around
The lights are going down
Nobody comes around
In bedsitterland

Sleepy Mom

Mom is waking in a room
Her heart and soul full of gloom,
Now in the hall of the house,
Not everything is guiet as a mouse
She can't sleep silence, nor do anything with the children
She is sad and crying in sadness, silence;
The pain in her heart violent.
She is weak from walking the hell all night
Wanting to sleep in silence with all her might
She can't do anything but sleep with her children in bed,
Silence; time and time again.
Until you know what you can do and can't do,
Your children won't be safe without you
You can keep them away from the big bad wolf
You can keep a watch on them from any danger,
whether from a friend or from a stranger,
You can sleep in silence now,
Be happy and take a bow,
Protect me from the dark or from a bomb,
you have down your job.

Louisa May Alcott

Our Little Ghost

Oft, in the silence of the night,
When the lonely moon rides high,
When wintry winds are whistling,
And we hear the owl's shrill cry,
In the quiet, dusky chamber,
By the flickering firelight,
Rising up between two sleepers,
Comes a spirit all in white.

A winsome little ghost it is,
Rosy-cheeked, and bright of eye;
With yellow curls all breaking loose
From the small cap pushed awry.
Up it climbs among the pillows,
For the 'big dark' brings no dread,
And a baby's boundless fancy
Makes a kingdom of a bed.

A fearless little ghost it is;
Safe the night seems as the day;
The moon is but a gentle face,
And the sighing winds are gay.
The solitude is full of friends,
And the hour brings no regrets;
For, in this happy little soul,
Shines a sun that never sets.

A merry little ghost it is,
Dancing gayly by itself,
On the flowery counterpane,
Like a tricksy household elf;
Nodding to the fitful shadows,
As they flicker on the wall;
Talking to familiar pictures,
Mimicking the owl's shrill call.

A thoughtful little ghost if is;
And, when lonely gambols tire,
With chubby hands on chubby knees,
It sits winking at the fire.
Fancies innocent and lovely
Shine before those baby-eyes, -
Endless fields of dandelions,
Brooks, and birds, and butterflies.

A loving little ghost it is:
When crept into its nest,
Its hand on father's shoulder laid,
Its head on mother's breast,
It watches each familiar face,
With a tranquil, trusting eye;
And, like a sleepy little bird,
Sings its own soft lullaby.

Then those who feigned to sleep before,
Lest baby play till dawn,
Wake and watch their folded flower -
Little rose without a thorn.
And, in the silence of the night,
The hearts that love it most
Pray tenderly above its sleep,
'God bless our little ghost!'

Night And Day

When the jungle shadows fall
Like the tick tick tock of the eye of the clock
As it's standing against the wall
Like the drip drip drip of the rain drops
When the summer shower's through
So a voice within me
Keeps revealing you...you
Night and day
You are the one
Only you beneath the moon
And under the sun
Whether near to me or far
It's no matter, baby, where you are
I think of you
Night and day
Day and night
Why is it so
That this longing for you follows wherever I go
In the roaring traffic gloom
In the silence of my lonely room
I think of you
Night and day
Night and day
Under the hide of me
Though such a hungry yearning
Burning inside of me
This torment won't be through
'til you let me spend my life making love to you
Day and night
Night and day
Night and day
Under the hide of me
Oh, such a hungry yearning
Burning, burning inside of me
This torment won't be through
'til you let me spend my life making love to you
Day and night
Night and day
Night and day
Night and day
Night and day
Night, night, night and day
Night and day
Night, night and day
Night and day

Hunger In The Night

Theres a heart flight of a neon moon in the darkness of this shuttered room
Watch out
Easy for some action holy satisfaction ooh
Midnight makes a call skin begins to crawl
Inside the heights upon the fantasies
Let me introduce you now
Im gonna let you see the other side of me
Theres a hunger in the night moves me completely
Hunger in the night bleeds so sweetly
(its) a hunger in the night moves me completely
The hunger in the night bleeds so sweetly
Through the shadows you wont hear a thing
Cloaked in darkness my loves a deadly sting
Watch out
Comes in through the fence, sliding in the shiv
Want to be a hero situations zero
Inside the heights upon the fantasies
Let me introduce you now Im gonna let you see the other side of me
Chorus
As I lie me down to sleep, with the lord my soul to keep
If I die before I wake, will the lord my soul to take
This life has no distance, between the line and another day

Ghost In A Haunted House

All was quiet, nary a sound.
Yet there seemed to be something around.
The halls were vacant, the rooms quite bare
but the presence of something was always there.
It moved at night and left its scent
perfuming the air wherever it went.

The house is bought. People move in.
All is silent 'til noises begin.
Creaks and steps that sound in the air
awaken the people that stop and stare.
Nothing is seen but the air turns cold.
The ghost in this house is suddenly bold.

Presents itself in shadowy form.
All around, a space that's not warm
appears as a shadow draped in white
gripping the hearts of the people in fright.
'Who's there?
Who's there? ' comes the cry.
The answer is muffled but the wail is high.

The house is haunted. We cannot stay.
The ghost that's here wants us away.
A child says, 'That's not the case.
I've seen the ghost. I've seen its face.
It smiled at me and let me know
that it's only a ghost with nowhere to go.'

Mr. Kingdom

Daylight comes to those who live
But those who die they never see the sun come
Shining through their window pane they pass away.
Silly girl to be a fool, you didn't play the golden rule,
'cos once you're through with one world,
There's another waiting there.
Chorus
Help me such a lonely soul,
In dreams to leave behind the world.
Mr. kingdom help me please, to find the rainbow's end.
Looking from this empty room,
The corridors of endless gloom go crawling through the night,
To meet the dawn that's on its way.
Oh to sleep, per-chance to dream,
To live again those joyous scenes,
The laughter and the follies that are locked inside my head.
Chorus
Help me such a lonely soul,
In dreams to leave behind the world.
Mr. kingdom help me please, to find the rainbow's end.
I can dream of flying high,
Above the city's cares and never be afraid of anyone
'cos there ain't no one there.
Chorus
Help me such a lonely soul,
In dreams to leave behind the world.
Mr. kingdom help me please, to find the rainbow's end.
Help me such a lonely soul,
In dreams to leave behind the world.
Mr. kingdom help me please, to find the rainbow's end.
