from MSN:
Do you want to show you care about energy conservation? Simply switch off your lights on March 28 from 8: 30 to 9: 30 p.m., local time.
This is Earth Hour, and Saturday is the third annual worldwide event. Earth Hour is both a symbolic act and the start of a practical habit.
Millions of homes and businesses and hundreds of major landmarks will go dark for one hour to show that energy conservation is important and to send this message to political leaders attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference in December 2009.
At the same time, Earth Hour reminds each of us how easy it is to conserve - just turn off non-essential lights and electronics to reduce our own power consumption.

When Darkness Comes
when darkness comes
the hands must account for
what they have done with
the kindness of light
the eyes must close and
see what darkness shows
apart from the clear
showings of the the
realities of brightness
the heart must start to
sing another song
perhaps lovelier this time
for some comfort
that there is nothing to fear
that darkness is not the enemy
but just the resting place
of those who want to rest
and get some sleep
and then float
so perfectly in the world
of dreams

Earth Hour
by leaps and bounds
the world has progressed
since the industrial revolution
men's life expectancy
has increased so many years
by leaps and bounds too
we seem to be heading
towards a crash between
our own survival and
that of mother earth
earth hour - giving ourselves
and earth - a break
even in this darkness,
earth cools down to lift us
up in a warm efferverscent cheer
we cant help but shed tears
for what we had done to mother earth
and vow to light the coming years
in the darkness of our rooms

The Sun-Dial at Wells College
The shadow by my finger cast
Divides the future from the past:
Before it, sleeps the unborn hour
In darkness, and beyond thy power:
Behind its unreturning line,
The vanished hour, no longer thine:
One hour alone is in thy hands,--
The NOW on which the shadow stands.

In hour of darkness, I remember you
In hour of darkness,
I remember you
And the darkness of my life quickly flutters away
In hour of happiness,
I remember you
And the happiness comes much more
In hour of difficulty,
I remember you
And my faith goes stronger
In hour of death,
I remember you
And I breathe my last with a smile
In hour of losing courage
I remember you
And I become more confident
In hour of failure,
I remember you
And my failure turns into success due to you
In hour of seeking you
I don’t remember you
Because you are in me and I am in you

The Glory Of God
The earth is filled with the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea
He is the one who came and died for you
He is the one who has set you free
His glory covers all of the earth
And the heavens are full of His praise
His brightness is brighter than a thousand suns
So to Him our hands we must raise
He stands and measures all of the earth
And the perpetual hills bow down
The deep cries out and lifts its hands
To the King who now wears a crown
The sun and the moon stand still in their place
All the earth is hushed by your sight
And the heavens retreat and cover their face
For what was dark has now become light
Then I saw a new heaven, and behold a new earth
For all things had now passed away
For the Lord had come down and took His place
And this is what I heard Him say
I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End
Living waters flow freely from Me
Every tear I have come, to wipe away
And in my presence, forever, you will be!

Unimaginable Light
Imagine the generation of darkness,
imagine the view of light,
imagine the joy that overflows the eyes that beholds brightness,
Darkness cannot comprehend the beauty and role of such imagination,
with feelings from Joy, Joy from brightness.
Building an unforgettable memory of happiness,
campaigning against blindness. oh!
what a rescue, rescue from the ages of blindness.
really, its light beyond words.
Yes, an unquenchable light that speaks life to the blind.

Explorations: XXII
In whose hands,
At which place,
At which hour
Does this life end?
Do these questions
Ever occur to bird or beast
Bud or leaf or babe
When it's born?
Curse upon the humans
Ever tormented by
Doubt and fear; in
Darkness born and in
Darkness fade...

Darkness Of...
Darkness is not the darkness of night
it is the darkness of mind and soul.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of discrimination between poor and rich.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of dishonesty.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of aggravate.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is darkness of corruption.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of indiscipline.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of animosity.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of inveterate.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of perjury.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness that we all brought up inside us,
so, light the lamp of light inside you...

He Is Risen #2 (Bible Poems for Children)
Now in the sixth hour darkness
filled the earth, in the ninth
hour, JESUS cried in a loud
voice, 'MY GOD, MY GOD why
hath thou forsaken me
Crying again, he yielded to
death and the grave. As the
end of the sabbath began to
dawn, toward the first day
of the week.
The two Marys brought spices
to the place where JESUS lay.
There was great earth-quake.
This world trembled on it's axis,
Darkness covered the land.
A loud voice from heaven rumbled
throughout this earth.
'COME FORTH, COME FORTH'
the grave belched, gave way, the
SON OF GOD, stood up and
walked away.
The grave could not contain him.
He had defeated death and hell.
He had risen to live forever in
our hearts.
An angel of the Lord appeared
from heaven. His countenance
alike to lightening, his raiment
white as snow.Speaking in a
loud voice, He has risen, he is
not here. He lives forever more.
Sitting now on the right hand throne
of GOD..
Because he lives I can face tomorrow.

At Midnoon...
now what you hear is only the sound of the rain outside
there is no lamppost, it has been taken away just this morning,
understandably there is no need for light
there is no feeling that
in the brightness of a new day
darkness can have digits
but i heard of a man who carried his flashlight
at noon
declaring that this city is as dark as the deepest floor of the ocean
where the gods
of rage have been hiding
and he warns that the rage continues
that we honestly still feel this matter inside the guts
of these modern days
that sometime the ocean will bring its own darkness
with the storms at mid-noon
and we who take pride of the light and the
grasses of the earth
will have something to write
perhaps not really that gentle and calm
and perhaps we are too clumsy for this

One Hour Back!
Grey skies, rain, fog, cold and damp air;
Darkness that seem to go on forever,
Fall is here and the days are short;
By an hour we have fallen back!
That is all as far as the hour hand can go_
Only if they could move it a decade or two back!
I would smile my way back to childhood,
To the greatest days of all time.
It is O, so impossible!
No one can turn the hands of the passing seasons!

Broken-wing Angel
Out of a sapphire blue heaven
I fell down to earth,
while I reached with my right hand
for the stars.
Michael and Gabriel was with me
when a thunder stroke
clapped blinding out of the darkness
and hit my right wing and singe it.
The forces of darkness
was suddenly everywhere around me
and with a last desperate swish
of my left wing
and with a flaming sword
I tried to stop
that they lay there hands
on a child in Clanwilliam.
Today there’s a marble statue
at that child’s grave
and no man knows,
why I protect that piece of earth
with a broken wing.

Hour Of Need
(myles goodwyn/additional lyrics by lisa blond)
Published by mfg sing sing music/socan - ascap
Shadows closin in on me
But through the darkness I can see
Your face is harder than stone
I wish I may, I wish I might
Turn this darkness into light
Im blind and yet I see, I love you
But Im a man, I must be strong
Ive let these feelings tear me apart for far too long
But in my darkest hour of need
In my darkest hour of need
Will I ever love again
Or will it always be pretend
Its my heart that needs to know
What can it be, that you and i
Cant give it one more try
But I know that that wont be, and I love you
But Im a man, I must be strong
Ive let these feelings tear me apart for far too long
And in my darkest hour of need
In my darkest hour of need

Bring On The Night
The afternoon has gently passed me by
The evening spreads its sail against the sky
Waiting for tomorrow, just another day
God bid yesterday good-bye
Bring on the night
I couldnt spend another hour of daylight
Bring on the night
I couldnt stand another hour of daylight
The future is but a question mark
Hangs above my head, there in the dark
Cant see for the brightness is staring me blind
God bid yesterday good-bye
Bring on the night
I couldnt spend another hour of daylight
Bring on the night
I couldnt stand another hour of daylight
I couldnt spend another hour of daylight
I couldnt stand another hour of daylight

Shine, Jesus, Shine
Lord the light or your love is shining,
In the midst of the darkness shining,
Jesus light of the world shine upon us,
Set us free by the truth you now bring us,
Shine on me. shine on me.
Shine jesus shine
Fill this land with the fathers glory
Blaze, spirit blaze,
Set our hearts on fire
Flow, river flow
Flood the nations with grace and mercy
Send forth your word
Lord and let there be light.
Lord I come to your awesome presence,
From the shadows into your radiance,
By the blood I may enter your brightness,
Search me, try me, consume all my darkness,
Shine on me. shine on me.
As we gaze on your kindly brightness.
So our faces display your likeness.
Ever changing from glory to glory,
Mirrored here may our lives tell your story.
Shine on me. shine on me.

A Euphoric Moment
The sun kisses my cheek; I squint at its brightness...
My feet are touching hot earth, yet it is my soul that's a blaze!
I take in what the sun has for me...So I shine as the sunrays dance in my stead.
I pause for a moment to give praise for the purposeful son; the brilliance of his light, it magnifies not over just a mere one, but to all who would seek him...the son illuminates.
The son kisses my cheek; I squint at his brightness...
My feet are touching hot earth and I am a blaze!
I take in what the son has for me....So I shine as never before!
I cannot be still, no one to dance in my stead.
The son illuminates and I am now fed.
