A Quaint Little Rhyme
I used to dine on a variety of cheeses
Which made me gracious and fat,
I used to think that I looked like Jesus
Crossed with a wrinkled old Siamese cat,
But when I was cured of these strange diseases
I decided to call that that;
You shouldn't make fun of a fool that sneezes
While wearing a leopard-skin pillbox hat!
I'm inclined to laugh at a joke that pleases
Because a sense of humour is a wonderful thing,
And if I'm covered from head to toes in bruises
I'll still do my best to holler and sing;
A bloke's got to stick with the wife he chooses
And not mess around with her diamond ring,
It's only a villain who beats and abuses
And strangles his woman with a handful of string!
I suppose you wonder where this poem is leading
And think that I must be a little bit queer,
It's not just a matter of simple inbreeding
Or thinking the end of the world is near;
If you want to know, my poor heart is bleeding
And my spirit is tortured with anger and fear,
All hope of an answer is swiftly receding
So let's drown our sorrow in a barrel of beer!

Where In The World
Where in the world did you go?
Without a clue, without a word
What on earth did I do wrong?
You won't believe how much I hurt
I can't believe the mess we're in
My sense of humour wearing thin
Gets away with murder every day
Can't you hear me, won't you make it go away?
Enough to taste of bitterness
Hits me in the face, someone else's wish
Here I lay awake, alone
Just wishing you'd come home
You leave me desolate and torn
Go and fight in someone else's war
And so you put us both to shame
Don't come near me
Don't you make it go away
I can't believe the mess we're in
My sense of humour wearing thin
No ones getting younger anyway
Can't you hear me, won't you make it go away?
I can't believe the mess we're in
My sense of humour wearing thin
Gets away with murder every other day
Can you hear me, won't you make it go away?
Won't you make it go away?
Won't you make it go away?

The 5 Nonsenses
I can tell that a SMELL is a far greater thing
Than an ugly old dog, or a bird on the wing;
Or a chocolate frog, or a phone on the ring,
Yes a smell is a far greater thing.
I can HEAR that a tear is a terrible pain,
Like a slap in the face, or a race in the rain;
I just know that the snow once again will complain,
That a tear is a terrible pain.
I can TASTE a loud noise as it beats on the door,
With a sledgehammer grin and a coconut roar;
Will it ever give in, will it shout out for more?
The loud noise as it beats on the door.
I can TOUCH a good joke with a bargepole of lead,
I can laugh it to death with my humorous head;
If I turned it around I could thump it instead,
This good joke... with a bargepole of lead.
I can SEE that I'm thinking this poem is daft
You agree, it's all nonsense, like air that we waft
Through our sensible heads as we cry and then laugh,
Now I see that this poem is daft.

Powerful Thing
(written by al anderson and sharon vaughn)
Ive never seen two people in my life
More determined to ignore the obvious
We better stop thinking
Let our hearts start doing the talking
Youd have to be stone deaf dumb and blind
Not to see whats going on with us
So lets jump in
And get over our fear of fallin
cause what we got here
Is a powerful thing
Its a powerful thing
More than three words
And a diamond ring
It can open up the heavens
Make the angels sing
Our love, baby, is a powerful thing
We started out strangers on a two-way street
Neither one of us lookin to fall in love
But we dont need us a map
To know were headed in that direction
Well, its out of our hands
And over our heads
Its something thats bigger than both of us
Turnin back nows completely out of the question
cause what we got here
Is a powerful thing
Its a powerful thing
More than three words
And a diamond ring
It can open up the heavens
Make the angels sing
Our love, baby, is a powerful thing
Stronger than the force of a driving wind
Hotter than a forest fire
There never has been and there never will be
Nothing like the power of you and me, yeah
Its a powerful thing
Its a powerful thing
More than three words
And a diamond ring
It can open up the heavens
Make the angels sing
Our love, baby, is a powerful thing
Its a powerful thing
Its a powerful thing
More than three words
And a diamond ring
It can open up the heavens
Make the angels sing
Our love, baby, is a powerful thing

Fool To Think
Look at me dreaming of you
All I could hope is to have you
To have you walking with me
Laughing so in love, we two
Almost drunkenly
I did imbibe of this
Fantasy of you and me
Was I a fool to think?
The way you looked at me
I swear you did
But you looked away too quick
Was I a fool, was I a fool to think
That you would take me home
As if I was yours
Was I a fool to think at all?
Ive grown tired of love
You are the trouble with me
I watch you walk right by
I smile, you do not notice me
Treat me recklessly
All you do is toss me pennies out
But the silence in me is screaming
Wont you come and get me?
Was I a fool to think?
The way you looked at me
I swear you did
But you looked away too quick
Was I a fool, was I a fool to think
That you would take me home
As if I was yours
Was I a fool to think at all?
Was I a fool to think?
The way you looked at me
I swear you did
But you looked away too quick
Was I a fool, was I a fool to think
That you would take me home
As if I was yours
Was I a fool to think at all?
You make a mess of me here
I dance a thousand steps for you
If you say yes to me
Ill be whatever gets you through
You make a mess of me here (was I a fool? )
I dance a thousand steps for you (was I a fool? )
Was I a fool, was I a fool to think?
Am I a fool, am I a fool for you?

Woman Of The World
Did you ever meet
The kind of a lady
She lives her whole life
Saying maybe
Running here and there
As she pleases
Not a thought
For the social diseases
Though she never
Thinks of settling down
Shell spend time
Turning your head around
But dont let your heart start dancing
The lady dont
Waste no time romancing
Are you mine or are you
The woman of the world
Are you really so different
From all the other girls
Do you care that I care
About the things that you do
Does anything matter to you
Does anything matter to you
Once in a garden of glory
Someone sowed
The seeds of this story
And the whole thing began
With a woman and a man
Still its something
No one understands

The Diamond Ring
He gave me a diamond ring, he did.
He gave me a diamond ring.
He gave me a song to sing, he did.
He gave me a song to sing.
I wore that ring night and day
but the song just went away.
'Cause my heart knew something wasn't right
when I heard him say,
'I'm gonna need that ring for a while.
I'll get you another soon.'
He took my ring and off he went
whistlin' a tune.
I recognized that tune you see.
It was the song he gave me to sing.
And so I followed the sound of the tune
and saw what he did to my ring.
He gave it to another fool
and gave her a song to sing.
My heart said to me night and day,
'That ring didn't mean a thing.'

The Gift Of Laughter
The gift of laughter is a rare gift it is such a wonderful thing
And laughter can create more laughter to it there is such a beautiful ring
The people who laugh seem to make friends quite easily and in numbers their friends seem to grow
But the people who take life too seriously are the people few wish to know.
The woman next door is a laugher she has with her a winning way
She is one who makes friends quite easily she always smiles and says good day
A person like her is worth knowing she spreads around her gift of cheer
For to stimulate laughter in her heart she doesn't need spirits or beer.
Compared to her the bloke three doors down is so different a smile never does cross his face
He is always so serious looking perhaps laughter he cannot embrace
A good laugh would be so good for him since none look more serious than he
If everyone took life so serious how boring a thing life would be.
The gift of laughter is a great gift and with it there's none to compare
And the people with it are invaluable since they spread it around everywhere
Life seems far too short to be grumpy since we will be forever dead
And feel grateful for people who can laugh their happiness they seem to spread.

Leopard-skin Pill-box Hat
Well, I see you got your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat
Yes, I see you got your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat
Well, you must tell me, baby
How your head feels under somethin like that
Under your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat
Well, you look so pretty in it
Honey, can I jump on it sometime?
Yes, I just wanna see
If its really that expensive kind
You know it balances on your head
Just like a mattress balances
On a bottle of wine
Your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat
Well, if you wanna see the sun rise
Honey, I know where
Well go out and see it sometime
Well both just sit there and stare
Me with my belt
Wrapped around my head
And you just sittin there
In your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat
Well, I asked the doctor if I could see you
Its bad for your health, he said
Yes, I disobeyed his orders
I came to see you
But I found him there instead
You know, I dont mind him cheatin on me
But I sure wish hed take that off his head
Your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat
Well, I see you got a new boyfriend
You know, I never seen him before
Well, I saw him
Makin love to you
You forgot to close the garage door
You might think he loves you for your money
But I know what he really loves you for
Its your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat

Anger fills my heart and soul
Anger fills my heart and soul
Anger takes a mighty toll
Anger lessens but can never leave
Anger you hope to never receive,
Anger stays forever within
Anger acts with the might of all sin
Anger is deadly to all around
Anger gets mad at the thought of sound
Anger is the thoughts in my head
Anger that’s mine all should dread
Anger for me is different from you
Anger you see tells me what to do
Anger will sit and whisper in my ear
Anger he sits and tells me all that you fear,
Anger…
He is here
He’s here to stay
Anger is the hole
In which we lay
Anger is
And Anger will
Always be with us
He is in me, and he is in you
He can make you do
What he wants you to
Anger will make you
Make you cry
Anger can make you
Want to die
Anger can make you
Go insane
Anger….. ... A blood filled rain
No more anger
No more…..
Walk to the bright light
Shinning through that door…
Not knowing what’s in store
But even then
Anger lives on
But you… nevermore

Sad Faced Dan
His heart is full of stress by stress he is weighed down
The one known as sad faced Dan the saddest one in town
He never laugh or smile he never crack a joke
He must not like the World he seems a sad poor bloke
When he walks down the street he never says hello
To anyone he meet not even those he know
Yet he is a good man he works hard for his pay
Nor ill of anyone you never hear him say,
He lives in his own quiet way and he does his own thing
The sad one of the town and none his praises sing,
The town's most crooked one he has a cheerful smile
Yet he flatters to deceive and his heart is full of guile
And unlike poor sad faced Dan he lacks in honesty
But the face you look upon is not always the soul you see.

Hanging Around
The leopard leapt and climbed the tree
He spotted on his way,
Up there, the whole wide world to see,
Time passing, come what may.
The world was hot, too hot to care,
Too hot to walk or run...
The leopard stayed, content to stare,
Now shaded from the sun...
No point in all that stifling heat
Which makes it hard to breathe...
It hardly made his life complete,
As one would first believe.
The leopard paused and settled down
And heaved a weary sigh...
Forgot his speed of great renown,
Fixed on one spot to lie...
Oh, yes, he could get used to this!
Tremendous, quite refined!
He'd twigged this would be perfect bliss,
Outstretched and now reclined!
The leopard looked for miles and miles,
Surveying all he could,
Upon this world of tests and trials
And on his neighbourhood.
To some degree, he ruled it all,
No matter, day or night...
So many heard and feared his call,
In seconds to take flight.
Oh, yes, the leopard knew his place...
The way things had to be.
For now, this peace he would embrace...
Just hanging around, you see...
The poem is based on the magnificent painting
by Stephen Gayford called 'Hanging Around'.

A Little Girl's Lullaby
I sit down in the chair and quietly weep
As you tell me that I don't mean a thing
You remind me of all my many flaws
But fail to mention you are the cause
I sit alone in my room desperate for the sound
For the words that I know, will never come out
I thrash and flail and scream and shout
But never once did you ease my doubt
No you made it worse, you twisted the knife
Deeper and deeper into my insides
Until I'm bleeding nothing but sorrow and grief
How could you do that? How could you do that to me?
In the end all I wanted was for you to say I love you
But in the end all I got was I wish I didn't have you
You abused me and used me and then left me
You took everything I loved and made it yours
The bruises and bumps never really go away
They only sink into my heart, and that's where they stay
I don't think I mean a thing
Not a single thing in the world
So that mom, is why I cringe, when you call me your little girl

In Closing
STEP BACK INSIDE THE LIE AGAIN
YOU'LL FIND YOU'RE WEARING THIN
KILLING THE SYMPATHY AS YOU TAKE ANOTHER SWING AT ME
NOW FIGHTING YOUR INNER SELF AGAIN
LOSING TO WHAT YOU FEEL
SHIELDED BEHIND THE LIES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL REAL
NOW IT'S OVER AND I DON'T FEEL A THING
BUT YOU'RE TRYING TO BREAK THE SCAR AGAIN
YOUR SPIRIT IS BLEEDING AS YOU GRIN
BUT YOUR BRIDGE KEEPS ON BURNING AT BOTH ENDS
IN YOUR MIND
THE ENDING SEEMS TO BE SO FAR FROM WHAT YOU NEED
TAKE BACK THE MEMORIES AS YOU SMILE TO HIDE THE PAIN FROM ME
NOW SHUT DOWN THE CURIOSITY THAT BRINGS YOU HERE AGAIN
NO SENSE OF PURITY AS YOU TRY TO TAKE THE LIFE FROM ME NOW
IT'S OVER AND I DON'T FEEL A THING
BUT YOU'RE TRYING TO BREAK THE SCAR AGAIN
YOUR SPIRIT IS BLEEDING AS YOU GRIN
BUT YOUR BRIDGE KEEPS ON BURNING AT BOTH ENDS
NOTHING THAT YOU EVER SAY COULD EVER POSSIBLYERASE ALL THE HATEFUL THINGS YOU DID
AND NOW I'M THROUGH WITH YOU
NOTHING THAT YOU EVER SAY COULD EVER POSSIBLY ERASE ALL THE HATEFUL THINGS YOU DID
AND NOW I'M THROUGH WITH YOU
NOTHING YOU COULD EVER SAY
NOTHING YOU COULD EVER SAY
NOTHING YOU COULD EVER SAY
NOTHING YOU COULD EVER SAY
IT'S OVER AND I DON'T FEEL A THING
BUT YOU'RE TRYING TO BREAK THE SCAR AGAIN
YOUR SPIRIT IS BLEEDING AS YOU GRIN
BUT YOUR BRIDGE KEEPS ON BURNING AT BOTH ENDS
HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY NOW
HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY NOW
HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY NOW
HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY NOW

Simple Woman
Simple woman who does not put make-up
Doesn't follow in fashion, the way she dress up
Long skirt and blouses, covered from bottom to top
Never been seen her fine good skin
But she is a woman with good lookin.
Simple woman who captured my heart
Though I can only see her from afar
My eyes sticked and don't blink apart
With black long hair and smile she makes
That feels me like going for a race.
Simple woman I'm dreaming every night
Wants to hold her and hug her tight
Sometimes imagine her in a dim light
Dancing with me till midnight
With love song and romantic candle light.
Simple woman is what I need in my life
'Coz I'm sure she would be a faithful wife
Has pure heart and sincere love that reside
Oh! woman I need you by my side
Wish you love me, and be mine.

The Knowledgeable One
They are not the brightest for to give them their due
And on his subject matter they did not have a clue
He seems a bit clever the older bloke said
To which his younger mate answered not right in the head.
Since he did seem a clever young person to me
With the older bloke's assumption I could only agree
And though I too not the brightest I was duly impressed
With one in his mid twenties who with knowledge is blessed.
The bloke in his thirties to the barmaid for another beer did call
With the knowledgeable one he did not seem impressed at all
And when the knowledgeable one had left the pub he turned to me to say
This bloke Socrates he was talking of who is he anyway?
His name is a name that I cannot recall
He cannot be famous he does not play football
I informed him the one of whom the clever one did speak
Is a long dead philosopher a legendary Greek.
He and his mate in his forties began to discuss Sunday's big game
Every player taking part they know them by name
Of football between them little they would not have known
Suppose like it is said of people to each their own.

Dad, Papa, Frank
Hey dad, it's your daughter Sandy, yes your favorite one of the three
You'd say Sandy, I love all of my daughters the same, then you'd smile and wink at me
Just kidding Kristi and Donna, don't have a cow, dad loved you too
But secretly I'd be saying inside, I am the favorite, you know it's true
I guess my sense of humor came from a man who's name was Frank, Papa, or Dad
A better man you could never know, I've never seen a person leave his house sad
He had one of those laughs they call contagious, if he was laughing you would laugh too
Oh how I would give anything just to hear it one more time, a more beautiful sound I never knew
It's been almost a year that you've been gone now dad, the worst year of my life
I know its not been easy for you either, especially missing Sue, , my mom, and your wife
You always used to tell me, it's gonna be really hard for your mother when I die
And the only reason you were scared to die was you didnt want to see mom cry
She misses you dad, but we both know, mom is one of the strongest woman you could ever meet
Through the years you've both crossed many obstacles, but never once not landed on your feet
You would make up these crazy stories, all of kids would know they weren't true
Then mom would agree with whatever you said, cause you would say it's true, 'Isn't that right Sue? '
You weren't just moms husband, you were both each others best friend
And through all the rough roads you both crossed together, your love didn't waiver or bend
Dad before I end this little poem, could you do me a favor before you go?
Tell mom the one thing she needs to hear from you, the one thing she needs to know
Sue I know you are carrying this guilt around, thinking I could have had a better life
But your wrong Sue, my life was perfect, how could it not have been with you as my wife
Mom, I know dad isn't here to say those words, but believe me those words come from him not me
At least a million times I've heard him say, ya know your mother is the best thing that's ever happened to me
Dedicated to my dad, Francis Xavier Breault.

What Lessons Can I Promise To Learn?
I shy away from advising with advice to give,
To anyone.
I have too many bruises,
From knocking my head up against walls.
I've sat in on too many job interviews,
Bored by those who questioned...
Where would I'd like to be and do,
In years to come I have yet to live.
Or commit myself to a loyalty...
When I know none of it comes to me,
From no one as a guarantee promised to give.
I do my best until I can not do that anymore.
And if someone else is not doing that to achieve,
Who believe to me they can be compared?
What lessons can I promise to learn?
If those in positions to teach are incompetent.
I shy away from advising with advice to give,
To anyone.
I have too many bruises,
From knocking my head up against walls.
What could I say to anyone,
Thinking something I will say will make it for them easy?
Especially when I am inclined to say,
Fall down to your knees and count the cracks on the street.
And repeat it until the bleeding isn't noticed?
How many seeking to be impressed,
Will address my own experiences?

My heart beat
01/09/2010
My heart beat
My heart beat
My heart beats with worry and sorrow
Seeing mankind climbing the ladder of hate
Seeing mankind fading away the love for humanity
My heart bleeds
My eyes cry sadness as blood brothers and sisters
hate on each other
The love I have for my sisters is deep
The care I feel for my brother is deep
None can separate my siblings and I
For we forever one
My heart beats play songs of sorrow and pain
My heart bleeds with sorrow and pain when I see
Homeless yuts begging on the streets
Where are you mother of earth set to nature and feed this young one
GOD why plant a seed on hateful woman
All eyes are on you woman of prostitution
All eyes are you woman of abortion
Defiling the survival of humanity by allowing vanity to control you
Who is to look after the nation and keep it clean when you are
Soulfully unclean
Move away from the darkness mankind
Can't you see the women are dying
Can't you the children are still crying
Hunger pains the stomach
Hunger supresses the brain to lowest level of thinking
I feel the pain in the core of my chest
I feel my heart beat, the drums in my brain
Makes my ears buzz when I hear the cry of the children on the streets
My feet get cold and my toes cramp as they feel the cold on the side walks of Jozi
My heart beats with sorrow and worry
Seeing mankind turning a blind eye on Poverty
My heart beats sing a sad song, a sad song
That tells me to fight poverty
Lets fight poverty people
Lets give to the needy
Take care of our elders
Feed our children
Love the nation
because my heart beats sing a sad song, a sad song.
My heart beat

Universal joke
You can’t get really near
the Beloved Friend
who some call God
without a sense of humour;
humour; and paradox:
sadness brings humility,
humility catches God’s ear…
now you’re laughing for sheer joy.
And have you heard this one…:
you can’t take anything from this world
without the world taking something from you…
isn’t that the best joke that ever was…?
Cows, who ruminate as well as Rumi ever did
Call it the Unified Field Theory.

Mrs. Hitchcock
Hello Mrs. Hitchcock
I hope truly you are doing well
I hope life has been very good to you
But that as time, someday it will tell.
And how are your beautiful daughters
I hope too they are doing fine
I hope they became wonderful women
I hope too they are gentle and very kind.
I hope they are seeking their destiny
In this hard world which we know as life
A hard journey for either woman or man
Or maybe, they became a mother and a wife.
Tell me do they have the beauty of their mother
And also do they have the eyes of their dad,
Do they both like to joke and laugh and enjoy life
And do they cry, when they are very sad.
Do they help others when they are in trouble
The way that you also had taught them to do
And do they sing when they are very happy
And are they virtuous, and also so very true.
Tell me do they also believe in heaven and God
Knowing that he is the reason that they are here
And do they thank him for the mother he gave them
Maybe their life someday, will be someone's mirror.
So once again I hope you are doing very well
I truly hope you have found in life what you sought
Also I hope everyday for you, it is a beautiful day
So again I wish you well, Mrs. Hitchcock.
