The Two Debtors
Once a woman silent stood
While Jesus sat at meat;
From her eyes she poured a flood
To wash his sacred feet
Shame and wonder, joy and love;
All at once possessed her mind:
That she e'er so vile could prove,
Yet now forgiveness find.
How came this vile woman here,
Will Jesus notice such?
Sure, if he a prophet were,
He would disdain her touch!
Simon thus, with scornful heart,
Slighted one whom Jesus loved;
But her Saviour took her part,
And thus his pride reproved.
If two men in debt were bound,
One less, the other more;
Fifty, or five hundred pound,
And both alike were poor;
Should the lender both forgive,
When he saw them both distressed;
Which of them would you believe
Engaged to love him best?
Surely he who most did owe,
The Pharisee replied;
Then our Lord, by judging so,
Thou dost for her decide:
Simon if like her you knew
How much you forgiveness need;
You like her had acted too,
And welcomed me indeed!
When the load of sin is felt,
And much forgiveness known;
Then the heart of course will melt,
Though hard before as stone:
Blame not then her love and tears,
Greatly she in debt has been;
But I have removed her fears,
And pardoned all her sin.
When I read this woman's case,
Her love and humble zeal;
I confess, with shame of face,
My heart is made of steel,
Much has been forgiv'n to me,
Jesus paid my heavy score;
What a creature must I be
That I can love no more!

Blind Bartimaeus
He would not let Jesus pass him by.
Called out to the Saviour with a loud cry.
It was his last chance to be made whole.
For blind from birth was this poor soul.
The crowd rebuked him to keep silent
but he cried out the more for he was intent
not to miss the Lord and let him pass by.
'Have mercy on me' was his loud cry.
Jesus stopped and bid them bring the man.
And jumping to his feet to Jesus he ran.
The Lord then said 'What do you want of me? '
'Rabbi', Bartimaeus said, 'I want to see.'
Immediately Jesus restored his sight
for he had faith that Jesus would put it right.
Then following Jesus along the way
his life had been miraculously changed that day.
As Bartimaeus we too have been born blind
and need like him the Saviour to find.
To cry 'Son of David have mercy on me.
Open my eyes, Lord, I want to see.'
It is at the cross that all can see
the extent of God's love for you and me.
And say to Jesus, 'Saviour hear my cry
while You touch others do not pass me by.'
Based on Mark 10: 46-52
* Spiritually blind
Where would I be without the cross?
I went back to the cross again in despair
and knelt at the feet of Jesus there.
'It's me dear Lord, I've come once more'
'For I've been here many times before.'
'I know my child, ' my Lord said to me
'But I'm so glad that you've come to Me.
My love for you is so unconditional
you can come to Me at any time at all.'
'Lord, ' I said, 'How can this ever be
that you could show such love to me.
For I am weak and prone to sin
and I feel so dreadful within.'
Then Jesus said, 'My child, Look at Me.'
and I gazed into His eyes to see
the love of God shining from inside
and His arms opened there so wide.
Outstretched as they were in loving care
for that repentant sinner kneeling there.
Held out for me in embracing love
the 'agape' love of God poured from above.
'My God, ' my soul cried out in shame
as tears flowed from my eyes again
'Such love is undeserved by me
a wretched man of clay and misery.'
'The wages of sin is death' Jesus cried
and the law must be fully satisfied.'
'So your sin has been laid upon Me
and by my stripes you've been set free'
'My love is poured out for everyone
who comes to Me as you have done.'
'For there was no other way for Me
to forgive you and set you free'
**************
Where would I be without the cross?
Weighed down with my load of sin and loss.
Struggling against unnumbered foes
With no Saviours love and so full of woes
Praise God for the cross of Christ
For His love and wonderful sacrifice
For the victory that Jesus has won
For the new that I have now begun
This Is For You!
As I paused within the present,
With the future on my heart,
The Saviour knew how much this meant
That I should do my part...
So Lord Jesus chose to give me,
So I could share with you...
Much more than this He shared with me,
For there was more to do...
I felt the leading of the Lord
To read a Bible verse,
God's Spirit granted me a sword,
His blessing not His curse
And skills were destined day-by-day
So I was well-equipped...
Forgiveness, too, if I should stray,
For many times I've slipped.
He said His grace would guide my prayers,
Towards my destiny...
To preach to paupers, millionaires
And those with eyes to see.
Across the world, the nations hear
God's word by day and night...
That's why the Lord is ever near,
My constant source of light...
Yes, I've been rich and I've been poor,
Yet God is in control...
And He's the One I'm living for,
Since Jesus saved my soul.
I've been to Israel, learnt a lot,
I know the Gospel's true...
When Jesus died, the Son of God
Told us, 'This is for you...'

Forgiveness
Forgiveness is an act that works through God;
Forgiveness is an act of God in man;
Forgiveness is the work of God’s great love;
Forgiveness is an art that man must learn!
Men with good sense will restrain their anger;
Such men defer their anger for long times;
To forgive transgressions is man’s glory;
To hold one’s tongue is done by people smart.
Forgiving is an act almost divine;
Forgiving is something not all can do;
Forgiving someone is too tough at times;
Forgiving fully is done by just few!
To preach is easy; forgiving is tough;
Forgiving is an honor of men wise;
If God should forgive us, we must forgive;
Like God, we must be slow to anger too.
‘Forgive those who sin against us, ’ tells Christ;
To gain God’s forgiveness, we must then, first;
There is no limit to forgive someone;
Forgiveness is a virtue Jesus taught.
One who forgives has no revenge in heart;
One who forgives has no hate from the start;
‘Forgive and God will forgive you, ’ says Lord.
Forgiving plants the seed of love of God.
When all are sinners, forgiveness is prime;
By doing so, we gain the love of God;
Through forgiveness, our tolerance will grow;
For prayers to be heard, forgive right now!
A man with grudge is like a fruitless tree!
Grudge can stand in-between you and heaven!
Spare no occasion of forgiving men;
Judge not others but show mercy on them!
We turn like God when we forgive others;
Forgiving earns more souls for God, brothers!

3 Kisses
1 The kiss of betrayal
Thirty pieces of silver paid for a kiss!
The price to betray You was no more than this.
For when Judas came with an armed mob that day
he was so determined his Lord to betray.
Gazing into Your face as Your eyes met his
he gave you that treacherous betrayal kiss.
A dastardly deed was done that awful day
handing You to the mob he went on his way.
No forgiveness was sought by this wretched soul.
No blood applied to cleanse and to make him whole.
Throwing the coins into the temple he left
to hang himself because he felt so bereft.
2. The kiss of love
Praise God that a kiss does not have to betray
but acts of love and devotion can display.
This poor woman was so determined and showed
her gratitude and the debt of love she owed.
The room was crowded but she was not deterred
she just wanted to reach out and touch her Lord.
With tears of repentance flowing from her eyes
she kept kissing Jesus' feet to their surprise.
Showing her tenderness and deep loving care
she then kept drying His feet with her long hair.
From the alabaster jar which she opened wide
she took out the sweet perfume contained inside.
The room instantly filled with aroma sweet
as she rubbed the perfume onto Jesus' feet.
Such acts of love though often misunderstood
did not pass unnoticed by Jesus her Lord.
3. The kiss of God
When You created the first man dear Lord
You did not do it by just speaking the word.
Instead You stooped down kneeling upon the ground
and gathered the dust of earth into a mound.
Knitting the atoms of man together there
forming him by Your tender loving care.
Then, wonder of all wonders, Your lips met his
and that man of clay came alive with Your kiss.
The life giving kiss God gave Adam that day
is still available to mankind today.
For justice and mercy kissed at Calvary
when God laid down His life for both you and me.
A Phoenician Woman Of Faith
your praying every single time
your heart is moved to take in
a stray dog or cat; I remember
a Phoenician woman who cried
out to the Lord, son of David;
because her daughter was badly
demonized; Jesus said to his disciples
“I was not sent forth to any but
to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
When the woman made obeisance
saying “Lord, help me! ” In answer
Jesus said “It is not right to take the bread
of the children and throw it to little dogs.”
With a mother’s love praying for her
daughter the Phoenician woman replied
“Yes Lord, but even the dogs do eat
of the crumbs falling from their master’s
table.” Jesus replied “Oh woman, great
is your faith; let it happen to you
as you wish.” In faith her daughter
was healed from that hour on. Thus Matthew 15: 21-28.
every time we give more than
we have to give we emulate Jesus
who gave to a faithful Phoenician
woman although she was not
a lost sheep of the house of Israel
she received in faith her daughter
healed just like similar faith encounter
a Roman centurion from Capernaum
who believed from a distance Jesus
could heal because he had authority
and in faith the manservant was healed Matthew 8: 5-13.
God gives authority as God has chosen
Jesus cared even when his disciples
thought Jesus should not it was Jesus
who miracle feed hungry five thousand
every time Jesus cared when others
thought Jesus should not to Father God
Jesus was praying as every single time
we care when others think we should not
we are also praying as my own father
was often praying when others knew it not

Is God In The Picture?
Is The Lord God in your picture, or is God just a religious fixture?
Friend is Jesus Christ real to you, involved in all you say and do?
Or does The Lord God have no part, in your life or in your heart?
Has Jesus Christ become your boss, or just an Icon on a cross?
God dear friend is real indeed; who’s there for all in time of need.
You may still have Him on a cross, where He died for all the lost,
But He’s no longer upon that tree; He rose again for you and me.
God dear friend is Jesus Christ, who died to bring us Eternal Life.
Jesus Christ became a Sacrifice, to pay for men an eternal price,
The price was God’s Only Son, who paid sin’s debt for everyone.
For on that day our debt was paid, when all sin on Christ was laid.
God did this so men could know, God in Heaven who loves us so.
Christ does not need you or me, to rule and reign for all Eternity,
God is truly real dear friend; Christ is the Beginning and the End.
And even if you don’t believe, Christ loved you friend on Calvary,
However, you must believe in Him, for God to forgive all your sin.
Why turn your back on the love, of God who’s reigning up above?
Why not trust Christ who died, now reigning at The Father’s side?
Won’t you today embrace The One, God who gave His Only Son?
Why don’t you friend believe today, in God’s only everlasting way?

Forgiveness From Calvary
When by God a soul is forgiven, the Spirit of Christ you are given,
The Holy Spirit marks a life, forgiven by God through Jesus Christ,
Friend when we come to Calvary, Christ changes both you and me,
Making a soul into a New Creation, through His Power of Salvation.
That soul with God, in one accord, as they come to Christ as Lord,
Now forgiven of their sinful past, they receive new life that will last,
A new life beginning at the cross, when cleansed of all sin's dross,
Then looking to the Resurrection, Christ gives us His new direction.
A new direction while on the earth, when we experience a new birth,
When born through The Spirit above, born of God, in Christ's love,
His love, that forgives all our sin, changing each heart deep within,
Creating forgiveness in each heart, that God, to others, can impart.
When by The Lord we are forgiven, by Christ's Spirit we are driven,
To forgive others, just like Christ, this for us, is not a big sacrifice,
Considering all that God has done, for men, through His Only Son,
His love can flow from each of us, as we forgive, like Christ Jesus.
Any forgiveness that from us is shown, is not from us, on our own,
But, through the Spirit of Christ, who, manifests for God a new life,
A new life for the Glory of God, to touch hearts on this earthly sod,
With the forgiving spirit of Calvary, that leads souls to life eternally.

Hymn XXIX: Come, Ye Weary Sinners, Come
Come, ye weary sinners, come,
All who groan beneath your load,
Jesus calls his wanderers home,
Hasten to your pardoning God!
Come, ye guilty spirits oppressed,
Answer to the Saviour's call,
'Come, and I will give you rest,
Come, and I will save you all.'
Jesus, full of truth and love,
We thy kindest word obey;
Faithful let thy mercies prove,
Take our load of guilt away;
Fain we would on thee rely,
Cast on thee our every care,
To thine arms of mercy fly,
Find our lasting quiet there.
Burdened with a world of grief,
Burdened with our sinful load,
Burdened with this unbelief,
Burdened with the wrath of God;
Lo! we come to thee for ease,
True and gracious as thou art,
Now our groaning souls release,
Write forgiveness on our heart.

Only one true perfect love no more searching
Always searching for a love we think we'll never find.
Oh heartache after heartache we start losing faith.
From mistakes we can't escape.
Our shattered dreams start burying us in darkness until we can no longer see the light.
Hate for ourselves and others start building up.
From all the shame, guilt, regret, and lies
we wonder who we are and how we've fallen so far.
Why can't we find someone to love us the way we yearn to be loved?
How does love turn to hate so fast?
Why does everyone give up?
Always searching for a love we think we'll never find.
Oh heartache after heartache we start losing faith.
Oh don't you know u have it.
Oh u have it all.
Jesus loves you.
Always has and always will.
So forget about the world and turn to Jesus.
He knew all our sins and loved us so much
he paid the price and died for us.
No other love can compare or be more true.
He'll never give up on you or forsake you.
So open your heart and turn to him now and watch the chains to your past break away.
Let the guilt and shame fade away.
Because you have been forgiven and set free.
Oh the love u yearn for is with him.
Oh the love u need is in Jesus.
The only true perfect love.
So turn to him now.
Let him love you and make u whole again.
Don't listen to the devils lies.
Your never to far gone, that's just a lie.
Oh remember the devil has been defeated.
Don't let him bring u down with him.
Oh cry out to Jesus now and feel the love he has for you and watch your life be transformed.
You'll never yearn for love again.
That much is true.
Always searching for a love we think we'll never find.
Oh heartache after heartache we start losing faith.
Oh never again.
oh those chains are broken.
I have found love that is true.
Jesus loves me and you

Humbled And Silenced By Mercy
Once perishing in blood I lay,
Creatures no help could give,
But Jesus passed me in the way,
He saw, and bid me live.
Though Satan still his rule maintained,
And all his arts employed;
That mighty Word his rage restrained,
I could not be destroyed.
At length the time of love arrived
When I my Lord should know,
Then Satan, of his pow'r deprived,
Was forced to let me go.
O can I e'er that day forget
When Jesus kindly spoke!
Poor soul, my blood has paid thy debt,
And now I break thy yoke.
Henceforth I take thee for my own,
And give myself to thee;
Forsake the idols thou hast known,
And yield thyself to me.
Ah, worthless heart! it promised fair,
And said it would be thine;
I little thought it e'er would dare
Again with idols join.
Lord, dost thou such backslidings heal,
And pardon all that's past?
Sure, if I am not made of steel,
Thou hast prevailed at last.
My tongue, which rashly spoke before,
This mercy will restrain;
Surely I now shall boast no more,
Nor censure, nor complain.

how many Jesus's does it take?
rock n roll Jesus, civil rights Jesus,
sexual Jesus, Baptist Jesus,
Pentecostal snake Jesus...
heroin Jesus, small town family Jesus,
necklace Jesus, tattoo Jesus,
illegal immigrant Jesus...
Jesus on the cross in a drunk tank Jesus,
Marlboro Jesus, county fair Jesus,
pray for Armagadden Jesus...
or just a man,
living one day, one moment,

at a time...

R Mornings
Arm-in-arm with Jesus Christ,
That's how we're meant to live.
Arm-in-arm and highly prized,
For He's the One we're with...
No other Lord is good enough,
No other King's supreme...
Lord Jesus is the King of Love,
Together, we're a team!
Arm-in-arm, no more apart,
No laws to bind us still,
Not since that time they pierced Christ's heart
Upon that holy hill...
Lord Jesus went to Calvary
Man's sins to take away...
That's why for all eternity
We'll have no sins to pay...
Arm-in-arm and side-by-side,
United all the time,
For only Jesus turned the tide
That makes this life sublime...
To think, God wants the world to know
Forgiveness here and now,
Such that true love can overflow
Each time we kneel and bow...
Arm-in-arm and Spirit-led,
No more to live alone
And through the Bible, Spirit-fed
By Scriptures we can own...
God's promises and prophecies
And precious love on Earth...
What more is there to life than these
That has eternal worth?

The Two Malefactors
Sovereign grace has pow'r alone
To subdue a heart of stone;
And the moment grace is felt,
Then the hardest heart will melt.
When the Lord was crucified,
Two transgressors with him died;
One with vile blaspheming tongue,
Scoffed at Jesus as he hung.
Thus he spent his wicked breath,
In the very jaws of death
Perished, as too many do,
With the Saviour in his view.
But the other, touched with grace,
Saw the danger of his case;
Faith received to own the Lord,
Whom the scribes and priests abhorred.
Lord, he prayed, remember me;
When in glory thou shalt be;
Soon with me, the Lord replies,
Thou shalt rest in paradise.
This was wondrous grace indeed,
Grace vouchsafed in time of need!
Sinners trust in Jesu's name,
You shall find him still the same.
But beware of unbelief,
Think upon the hardened thief;
If the gospel you disdain,
Christ, to you, will die in vain.

Bible in Poetry: Gospel of St. John (Chapter 20)
It was the day one of the week;
When dawn broke, Mary Magdalene
Came early to the tomb, though dark
And saw the stone large, set aside!
She hurried to Simon Peter,
And other one, whom Jesus loved,
And said, ‘The Lord has been taken.
We don’t know where they have put Him.’
So, Peter with the other one,
Both ran towards the tomb at once;
The other disciple reached first,
But did not go into the tomb.
He bent down, saw the burial clothes!
Then Peter went into the tomb and saw
And saw the burial clothes lie there;
The cloth that covered Jesus’ head
Lay rolled up in a separate place.
The other disciple went in
And saw, believed the state of things;
For, they didn’t know the scripture say:
‘He had to rise from dead, third day! ’
The two disciples returned home.
But Mary stayed outside the tomb;
Bending over the tomb, she wept;
She saw two angels in white there:
One at the head, one at the feet,
Where Jesus’ body had been laid.
They asked, ‘Woman, why do you weep?
She said, ‘They’ve taken the Lord away!
I don’t know where they have laid Him.’
At as she said, she turned around,
Saw Jesus but didn’t recognize.
Jesus asked her, ‘Woman, why weep?
Whom are you searching for right here? ’
She thought it was the gardener.
She asked him, ’Sir, please tell me where
You’ve laid Jesus and I’ll take Him! ’
Then Jesus called to her, ‘Mary!
She said in Hebrew, ‘Rabbouni! ’
Then Jesus said, ‘Stop holding to me;
I’ve not ascended to Father.
But go and tell my brothers all,
I’m going to my Father, God! ’
Then Mary Magdalene went back,
Told all disciples, all she saw.
While disciples stayed with doors locked,
For fear of Jews and evening came:
Then, Jesus stood in their ’midst, said,
‘Peace be with you, peace be with you!
As Father sent me, I send you.’
He breathed on them and said to them,
‘Receive the Holy Spirit now!
Whose sins you forgive, are forgiv’n,
Whose sins you retain, are retained.’
Thomas wasn’t there when Jesus came;
The others told, ‘We’ve seen the Lord.’
He said, ‘Unless I see the mark
Of nails in hands and side, and put
My finger into them, I’ll not
Believe in whatever you say.’
When Thomas was with disciples,
A week later, again inside,
Then Jesus came, though doors were locked,
And said to them, ‘Peace be with you! ’
He told Thomas, ‘Put your finger
Into my hands, into my side;
Don’t be unbelieving, Believe! ’
Then Thomas said, ‘My Lord, My God! ’
Then Jesus asked, ‘Do you believe
Because you have all seen me now?
Bless’d are those who haven’t, yet, believe! ’
Then Jesus did many more signs,
In presence of his disciples.

Father Forgive Them
Father, forgive (the Saviour said)
They know not what they do:
His heart was moved when thus he prayed
For me, my friends, and you.
He saw, that as the Jews abused
And crucified his flesh;
So he, by us, would be refused,
And crucified afresh.
Through love of sin, we long were prone
To act as Satan bid;
But now, with grief and shame we own,
We knew not what we did.
We knew not the desert of sin,
Nor whom we thus defied;
Nor where our guilty souls had been,
If Jesus had not died.
We knew not what a law we broke,
How holy, just and pure!
Nor what a God we durst provoke,
But thought ourselves secure.
But Jesus all our guilt foresaw,
And shed his precious blood
To satisfy the holy law,
And make our peace with God.
My sin, dear Saviour, made thee bleed,
Yet didst thou pray for me!
I knew not what I did, indeed,
When ignorant of thee.
