The Guest House

What imps are these that come with scowl and leer?
Black motes upon the morning's amber beam,
They crowd and float about each happy dream
And blow upon pure joy the taint of fear.
Perforce those muttered hideous words we hear,
Yet bid our nobler nature rise supreme
And, sunlike, dry to naught th' infernal steam
Till all our day is luminous and clear.
“What cruel beasts find refuge in the soul
Amid the murky deep of sightless flame
Whose waves are flatten'd by a rain of blood!”
Nay, but however pure the waters roll,
The offal thrown therein will rise and shame
Their glittering pride with bubbles from the mud.

Serpents Flower

No matter the sun rise, it is still morning that the trees a rise and

greet.

Yes, I did come up with that on me own. Perhaps with time, I will

tell you what it means.

I once seen a beauty down with in the waters, and so close to this

beauty was a Cotton Mouth, nervous as a young lad should be, I feared

nothing, yet was intrigued to see the beauty also had no fear of the

serpent but welcomed it with no discrimination.

I then realized that as I gazed upon this beauty with in the

currents, the venomous snake was being offered a solid beam to wrap

around, and be safe so near so that the snake did not float away. The

beauty I looked upon in admiration was truly a beauty for with in the

waters, being held by the reptile with a vine outstretched to the sky

was a flower.

Matins, Or Morning Prayer

When with the virgin morning thou dost rise,
Crossing thyself come thus to sacrifice;
First wash thy heart in innocence; then bring
Pure hands, pure habits, pure, pure every thing.
Next to the altar humbly kneel, and thence
Give up thy soul in clouds of frankincense.
Thy golden censers fill'd with odours sweet
Shall make thy actions with their ends to meet.

My Gray Hours (Sonnet)

My heart races touching your deep Spirit's kiss,
The softness of your voice soothes my abyss.
My tear's curb crumbles greening my shrink cry.
My soul torn apart wondering to know why.

Wrong thoughts, so cruel wait the fear to tape
The terrors of love to give them a new shape.
And my loneliness is a shadowy yard
When to sink my reality it's so hard.

In murky ponds of suffocating tadpole
I jag my edges tearing my sad soul,
Which once is tied with bleeding strips to yours
Will twist my fate with the flick of my gray hours.

I wait my hope which will never come to be.
This hope hunger squeezes tighter my soul's knee.
I'm clinging to the past where I want to hide
That part of me that is still alive inside.

While I wait the ocean waves to wash my soul
Big storms can rise up from the horns of your hole.
Much more confused on how to think or feel,
I talk, I dream and I am your balance wheel.

I can live with death while love is a wasteland
When the end comes around against my soul's gland
As showy as the white chalk on a blackboard
And I could lose my way but I pray to Lord.

I wonder if I will feel your love again
Even I accept my resignation's chain
Like an inner sorrow coming on my lip,
Like a song of my flute for my ocean's sleep,

Like a fire fathom scratching my blue rain,
Like a wish to taste you when I strive in vain,
Like a deep taste you place on my nudest wish,
Or like the wish you place on my thinking swish.

Floating are your words rain for my misty cloud,
You can still hang out with my feelings crowd.
When I'm dressed in white masking a selfless gray,
I have my honest smile and nothing to say.

Crops from your soul break the reason of my thought
And break my soul because I love you a lot.
Your body's heat cannot hit my soul's weeps
'Cause my pure thoughts are crowned with white wisps.

You defy my body's weep because it's chaste
And I don't understand what you need to taste.
I'm tired of you, I live with divine things.
I may see your sorrow is rose with black wings.

With your betrayal my love is wont to flow
And I know that your feelings will never glow.

Once More I Rise

Once more I rise
My eyes, my lungs filled with dust
From the arena floor

You are too strong, my worthy foe

The crowd clamors for my blood

Once more I rise
One last time before I fall, finally and forever

But I do not rise for you
Nor certainly for the pleasure of jeering voices
Fomenting hate, though they know not whom
They so despise

In a way, I die for them
I represent their dark souls
In my disgrace, I somehow give them hope
Hope that they too can vanquish
Their enemies

But I do not choose to rise for them
And I most certainly do not rise for you,
Though, you are worthy
Of this final stand
A chance to prove the full strength of your hand

No, I do not rise for you but
For myself
My pride mostly
It is all that remains of my miserable life
Pride in the one I had hoped to be:
Victor in this dark arena

And so, as I rise
It is only pride that rises
And only pride that will fall
The rest of who I am or ever was
Remains buried in the dust
Nevermore to rise

Rise, Rise to the Occasion

Rise, rise to the occasion
Rise, rise to the invitations of life
Oh rise, rise to the music of joy
Uh rise, rise to the victory over strife!

This is the time for you to march forward
Oh son of the Mighty! Valor is the key
This is the urgency to show courage abundant
Oh daughter of Energy! Courage is the key

Rise, rise to the tide and rise to the low
Defeat lethargy and defeat fear
Mind the goal and attain it
The guts are here and the glory is here

Face the challenge, embrace it
Cross the puddles and the furrows
Calm the heart and fight the battle
Celebration’s for you – not the sorrows

Rise, rise then, rise O bright!
Rise, rise then to the right
Tire not, rise till the end of the path
Rise, rise then to all the might!

Forgotten Dream

When tears have dried
after your heart has cried
the sun will rise on a new day

When you're left alone
with no one to hold
the sun will rise on a new day

When you reach the edge
and feel like breaking

The sun will rise
the rain will dry
you're heart will heal
even though I still cry

Now you've chosen
and I'm left outside
I'll find a place
shelter to hide

It's easier with me gone
it's easier with no word

I hear you're mind is clear
I hear you're heart did mend

Did I tell you that I'm still back there

You left me there
the day you went
I could never return
o matter the money I spent

Now I hear
the sun will rise
the rain will dry
you're heart has healed
though I still cry

Maya Angelou

Still I Rise

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

We Shall Rise

(traditional/emmylou harris)
In that resurrection morning
When the trumpet of God shall sound
We shall rise, (hallelujah) we shall rise.
Then the saints will come rejoicing and
No tears will eer be found
We shall rise, (hallelujah) we shall rise.
We shall rise, (hallelujah) we shall rise (amen)
We shall rise, (hallelujah)
In that resurrection morning
When these prison bars are broken
We shall rise, (hallelujah) we shall rise.
In that resurrection morning
When the shades of life has fled
We shall rise, (hallelujah) we shall rise.
In the day of glory dawning when the sea
Gives up his dead
We shall rise, (hallelujah) we shall rise.
I shall see my blessed savior
Who so freely died for me
We shall rise, (hallelujah) we shall rise.
And our fathers and our mothers and our
Loved ones we shall see
We shall rise, (hallelujah) we shall rise.

Magic

Fear, anger, mistrust and nearly
Half a century of
Living in a world unfamiliar
To all but myself-
Has left me in dismay and in solitude-
Tomorrow is another day where
My morning shall be
Walking in the darkness, although
Moments away from sunrise and
Knowing that within a few hours
As I sleep- my mind shall become aware-
As if lightening has struck in some
Magical way-Fear, anger and
Mistrust shall disappear in a moment’s notice-
A different sort of sun shall rise
For me alone, shining light upon my kaleidoscopic world-
Black skies transform to cobalt blue as
A hurricane of sorts shall blow the sinister clouds away-
I shall see a rainbow rise from
Behind mountains of madness and
As the moon in its fullness disappears behind
Blossoming trees and I regain my sanity and hope,
Those alien voices shall be silenced-
Fear, anger and mistrust are hiding deep inside of a phantasmal river,
Rapidly receding and it shall only be days before
That river overflows and washes over me,
I can see those dismal clouds returning-
And all I can do is to remember words of wisdom telling me to
Grasp firmly onto those fleeting feelings of peace, hope and
Focus on the clarity of the skies above-
Feelings are so like thunderclouds- and
Finding one’s rainbow is a rarity- when lightening has struck your mind-
When feelings of fear and rage are inborn-
One never knows when the rain shall begin to fall again-
Voices that I hear are not real, and all I can do is dream
While the rain is falling until lightening strikes again-
Skies clear and although skies of cobalt blue so magnificent
Are in passing as is that phantasmal river before it overflows-
Perhaps in a different light it shall wash my tears away and hope shall remain, that
That magical sun shall someday rise for me alone and never set…

(Japan) Out Of The Sea

Tides, wind, and shaking quakes
I cried for hours when the waves
Crashed in, into them
Who gave us the Tamagotchi
And gave us everything cute
But nature knows nothing
But they are proud and ready
Pull out of the sea. Don’t drown!
You’ll rise again without a doubt
The waters that have covered the land
Have led so many to lend a hand
And you’ll rise out of the sea

Just like Godzilla or a proud creature
Out of the ocean you will rise
And fight to survive another century
Words of sorrow and tears of pain
The quake destroyed everything
And the water washed it away from you
But to dropp dead and give up is a crime
So swim out of the sea from under the ruin
Don't let your ancestors feel any shame
They felt Hiroshima and rebuilt for you

Don't drown, because there’s been worse
Right out of the sea you’ll pull out
So many dead and counting
In time that will be nothing
Those left will carry the memory
And each of them live on
So pull out of the sea, rise again
Tides and waves won’t ever understand
But you know what to do
Nobody dared to loot
Pull out of the sea like a proud beast

Dawn

Clouds rise from their nests
with flapping wings, they whisper
of worn leather, bracken, long
horizons, and the manes of dark
horses. In the waking stream
the stones lie like chestnuts
in a glass bowl. I pass the bones
of an old harrow thrown on its side
in the ditch.

Now the sun appears.
It is a fish wrapped in straw.
Its scales fall on the sleeping
town with its eyeless graineries
and necklace of boxcars. Soon
the blue wind will flatten the roads
with a metallic palm, the glitter
of granite will blind the eyes.

But not yet. The beetle still
stares from the riding moon, the ship
of death stands motionless on
frozen waves: I hear
the silence of early morning
rise from the rocks.

The Sun Will Rise Again

I know the sun will rise again
I saw the sun set on my dream
I saw myself toil in vain
I saw my tears flow like a stream
But I know the sun will rise again

I know the sun will rise again
The other day I was a hero
Yet today I feel the pain
As I wind down to zero
But I know the sun will rise again

I am lost in this stormy rain
Tossed by fierce winds day after day
My strength the storm has drain
But I wait on hope's smiley ray
When the sun will rise again

I know the sun will rise again
I have groped in pitch darkness
Searching for answers, searching in vain
But I wait on the morning brightness
When the sun will rise again.

Playboy

I greet the challenge of the dawn
With weary, bleary eyes;
Into the sky so ashen wan
I wait the sun to rise;
Then in the morning's holy hush,
With heart of shame I hear
A robin from a lilac bush
Pipe pure and clear.

All night in dive and dicing den,
With wantons and with wine
I've squandered on wild, witless men
The fortune that was mine;
The gold my father fought to save
In folly I have spent;
And now to fill a pauper's grave
My steps are bent.

See! how the sky is amber bright!
The thrushes thrill their glee.
The dew-drops sparkle with delight,
And yonder smiles the sea.
Oh let me plunge to drown the pain
Of love and faith forgot:
Then purged I may return again,
--Or I may not.

Love Triumphant

Your body’s treasures are mine to-day,
Though bitter as gall be their savour still;
From head to foot shall my kisses play,
Till naught is kept from their sovereign will!

The voice of my need supreme must guide
My passionate love to its destined goal;
My feverish fingers shall seek and glide
Until at the last I hold the soul.

My hot strong hands will no veil endure
That shadows your radiant nakedness;
Lay bare each beauty, conceal no lure,
Leave naught to hinder my fond caress!

Young blood beats onward, unchecked by shame,
When passion’s harvest is ripe to reap;
For who shall speak with the raging flame,
Or stay the cataract in its leap?

My armies have stormed at your city’s gate—
I have conquered you, hold you. Might is right
With the beasts of the wild that celebrate
In the jungle their primal marriage night.

You too are moved by the selfsame power,
Your quick breath tells in its shuddering fall:
There is naught so strong as love this hour—
Call it god or beast, it is lord of all!

The god in me and the beast in me
And all deep things come up to light;
And I would barter my soul to be
The prize of love for a single night.

One long, long night of supreme desire,
One long, long night of riot and rage;
For you are the sea and I the fire,
And old as the world is the war we wage.

The old, old strife of woman and man
That ever has been, and still shall be
Until the day when the vaulted span
Shall sink a wreck in the whelming sea.

Once fed, no longer the wolf-pack raves:
But love can never of madness tire,
And I must drown in your passion’s waves,
And you consume in my hot desire.

This the law of the flowering south,
Of the snow-clad north where the world is white …
You shall faint and fall as I crush your mouth
Beneath a conqueror’s ruthless might!

My life is poured in the stream of yours,
But fire and flood were not meant to mate:
We shall never be one while the world endures—
And the meaning of love at the last is hate!

My soul is drunk with your maddening charms;
You have taken all—I have naught to lose.
About me tighten your slender arms
With the very grip of the hangman’s noose.

So let us struggle, both flame and flood,
Let love and hate and sense have play
Till the slow dawn rises bathed in blood,
And you and I are dead ere day!

Fragment Of A Satire On Satire

If gibbets, axes, confiscations, chains,
And racks of subtle torture, if the pains
Of shame, of fiery Hell’s tempestuous wave,
Seen through the caverns of the shadowy grave,
Hurling the damned into the murky air
While the meek blest sit smiling; if Despair
And Hate, the rapid bloodhounds with which Terror
Hunts through the world the homeless steps of Error,
Are the true secrets of the commonweal
To make men wise and just;...
And not the sophisms of revenge and fear,
Bloodier than is revenge...
Then send the priests to every hearth and home
To preach the burning wrath which is to come,
In words like flakes of sulphur, such as thaw
The frozen tears...
If Satire’s scourge could wake the slumbering hounds
Of Conscience, or erase the deeper wounds,
The leprous scars of callous Infamy;
If it could make the present not to be,
Or charm the dark past never to have been,
Or turn regret to hope; who that has seen
What Southey is and was, would not exclaim,
‘Lash on!’ ... be the keen verse dipped in flame;
Follow his flight with winged words, and urge
The strokes of the inexorable scourge
Until the heart be naked, till his soul
See the contagion’s spots ... foul;
And from the mirror of Truth’s sunlike shield,
From which his Parthian arrow...
Flash on his sight the spectres of the past,
Until his mind’s eye paint thereon--
Let scorn like ... yawn below,
And rain on him like flakes of fiery snow.
This cannot be, it ought not, evil still--
Suffering makes suffering, ill must follow ill.
Rough words beget sad thoughts, ... and, beside,
Men take a sullen and a stupid pride
In being all they hate in others’ shame,
By a perverse antipathy of fame.
’Tis not worth while to prove, as I could, how
From the sweet fountains of our Nature flow
These bitter waters; I will only say,
If any friend would take Southey some day,
And tell him, in a country walk alone,
Softening harsh words with friendship’s gentle tone,
How incorrect his public conduct is,
And what men think of it, ’twere not amiss.
Far better than to make innocent ink--

After the Battle

Night closed around the conqueror's way,
And lightnings show'd the distant hill,
Where those who lost that dreadful day
Stood few and faint, but fearless still.
The soldier's hope, the patriot's zeal,
For ever dimm'd, for ever crost --
Oh! who shall say what heroes feel,
When all but life and honour's lost?

The last sad hour of freedom's dream,
And valour's task, moved slowly by,
While mute they watch'd, till morning's beam
Should rise and give them light to die.
There's yet a world, where souls are free,
Where tyrants taint not nature's bliss; --
If death that world's bright opening be,
Oh! who would live a slave in this?

Give me sunshine

A heaviness persists on my soul
like a foggy curtain in January morning.
Give me a little sunshine,
the sun refuses to rise in my sky
and clear the morning fog.

My soul feels stranded,
like a car in the middle of the road
in the heavy downpour of the summer rain.

Dragging my soul like a paralytic foot
I am a living corpse.
I am the lonely Crusoe
marooned in some solitary island.
while the sea of crowd around me swarm with life
I look on with longing in my eyes.

With even a nod or a twitch
But you gaze at your own reflection!

But I think you can see yourself
How can the mirror affect you?
Can you hear me?

That you fear me
Can you feel my temper

The Road to Roma Jail

It's a long road, a cruel road, the road to Roma Jail,
birds in all the branches mocking as you pass,
the spiteful little soldier-bird, the stupid old jackass,
crying 'One, two three of them; riding head to tail'.
On the long road, the cruel road, the road to Roma Jail.

Crookedly the track runs beneath the grassy skies
silver shines the mulga, golden glows the plain,
Bullocks in the barley-grass start and stare again,
stockmen at the station-yars, watch the white dust rise,
but one man, jogging on, dare not raise his eyes.

Pride of life and wild blood, all must pay the toll,
stolen horses' mouths are hard as misers hearts
none knew where the end is once the journey starts,
and Steve rides a long ride to reach a bitter goal
where black imps, grinning imps, hover round his soul.

It's a long road, a cruel roaadm the road to roma Jail,
a trooper rides behind you, a tracker rides before,
your hands are tied, your head bowed, your heart and body sore,
and high above you in the blue the homing wood-duck sail,
on the long road, the cruel road, the road to Roma Jail
