I Was Tired

I saw her again-
brushing her hair
that fell like shiny feathers.
Her eyes had mocked
her solemn face
as though a dagger
has flashed behind her gaze.
She brushed her hair
that fell like shiny feathers
while her eyes had mocked her face.
Her lips do nothing but conceal
the pain that flows like river.
I grew tired watching at her
loneliness that often speaks forever.
I was tired-
so i turned away from the mirror.

One Face

One face in a crowd is hard to find.
One face in that crowd is on my mind.
How can I find the face of one,
The face that to me is like the sun?

Shiny and bright with a radiant glow,
The face that picks me up when I'm low,
Eyes that light up wherever they are
Just like the splendor of an evening star,

Lips that break into the sweetest smile
That lingers for me for the longest while,
Hair that surrounds that face like a frame
That always sets my heart aflame.

I search all the faces but cannot see
The one that means the world to me.
I'm lost. I'm wretched. This should not be.
There are too many faces. I'm lost at sea.

One last glance and to my surprise
There's your face, your smile, your eyes.
The crowd's still there but not for me.
For the face I love is all I see.

The vision of your sleeping face

i keep remembering
the strands of your hair
silently breathing
each time i touch them
the rise and fall of your chest
is like the blood
that flows through my veins
and my eyes would wander
from your face
then stop at your hands
gently i touch them
warm and soft
the feeling i cannot erase
raising one gently to my lips
and kiss
even when i hold nothingness
i envision touching
your sweet sleeping face
brushing the hair out of your face
and placing a gentle kiss on your forehead
i remember walking away
and closing the door
as i whispered
“goodbye”.

The Well's Secret

I KNEW it all my boyhood: in a lonesome valley meadow,
Like a dryad's mirror hidden by the wood's dim arches near;
Its eye flashed back the sunshine, and grew dark and sad with shadow;
And I loved its truthful depths where every pebble lay so clear.

I scooped my hand and drank it, and watched the sensate quiver
Of the rippling rings of silver as the beads of crystal fell;
I pressed the richer grasses from its little trickling river,
Till at last I knew, as friends know, every secret of the well.

But one day I stood beside it on a sudden, unexpected,
When the sun had crossed the valley and a shadow hid the place;
And I looked in the dark water—saw my pallid cheek reflected—
And beside it, looking upward, met an evil reptile face:

Looking upward, furtive, startled at the silent, swift intrusion;
Then it darted toward the grasses, and I saw not where it fled;
But I knew its eyes were on me, and the old-time sweet illusion
Of the pure and perfect symbol I had cherished there was dead.

O, the pain to know the perjury of seeming truth that blesses!
My soul was seared like sin to see the falsehood of the place;
And the innocence that mocked me, while in dim unseen recesses
There were lurking fouler secrets than the furtive reptile face.

And since then,—O, why the burden?—when the joyous faces greet me,
With their eyes of limpid innocence, and words devoid of art,
I cannot trust their seeming, but must ask what eyes would meet me
Could I look in sudden silence at the secrets of the heart!

Loving This Way

(collin raye & bobbie eakes)
(allison mellon/gene lesage)
Im tired of watching me hurt you
Im tired of being the teardrops on your face
Im tired of loving this way
Im tired of loving this way
I know your every weakness
I can find one in everything you say
Im tired of loving this way
Im tired of loving this way
Im not the one that you really need
Im not the one in your dreams
I can see it in your eyes
This aint the way it should feel
I dont know how we got here
Loves no longer blind
If thats just how it is
Can we go on like this
Oh, baby what do you say
Im tired of loving this way
Im tired of loving this way
Ill set your heart free
And if youre mine
Youll come flying back some day
But Im tired of loving this way
Im tired of loving this way
Well Im taking you with me
Like a room in my heart
You will have your place
Im tired of loving this way
Im tired of loving this way
Im not the one that you really need
Im not the one in your dreams
I can see it in your eyes
This aint the way it should feel
I dont know how we got here
Loves no longer blind
If thats just how it is
Can we go on like this
Oh, baby what do you say
Im tired of loving this way
Im tired of loving this way

Heavy Metal Drummer

I still miss those heavy metal bands
She used to go see on the landing in the summer
She fell in love with a drummer
She fell in love with the drummer
She fell in love
Shiny shiny pants and bleach blonde hair
A double kick drum by the river in the summer
She fell in love with a drummer
Another & another
She fell in love
I miss the innocence Ive known
Playing kiss covers
Beautiful & stoned
Unlock my body and move myself to dance
In long liquid flowing blowing glass
Classical music blasting
Thats still ringing in my ears
I still miss those heavy metal bands
She used to go see on the landing in the summer
She fell in love with a drummer
She fell in love with the drummer
She fell in love
I miss the innocence Ive known
Playing kiss covers
Beautiful & stoned
I miss the innocence Ive known
Playing kiss covers

Playing kiss covers
Beautiful & stoned
Playing kiss covers
Beautiful & stoned

Mirror On The Wall

I look on the mirror
And I see a shiny face
Smiling at me.

Dropping down the pillar
My eyes are rushing down in a race
Like a river flowing in the sea

How are you vanilla?
Fine I guess
You are saying what I'm saying so we both agree

I turn my face to look like a drug dealer
But he seems to be upset at this case
So I tell him it was just a joke and he as well tells me

I tell him that he is me
And he tells me I'm him
What a crazy friend I have
Who does what I do.

God Has Mocked At Us

GOD HAS MOCKED AT US

God has mocked at us -
Made us so great to ourselves
Made us the center of our worlds
Made us feel as if we are what truly matters-

God has mocked at us -
And taught us how small we really are-
Has made us know the paradox-
Of our being central only to ourselves –

God has mocked at us and exalted us
And enabled us to attribute to God
Our own reservations about ourselves-

God has mocked at us
Do we in mocking ourselves mock God also?

I Leave To Give You Sweet Memories

there is not enough time.
it fell out of me like some
water from my fingers from the faucet
that i want to wash my face
i get wet and rub my face with
a white towel
and open my eyes and see for once
myself, this man, abandoned by time
so quickly
like yesterday and today
and tomorrow
all mixed in a second
white locks of hair
bony cheeks, and
serious eyes, looking through
the mirror
wanting to find if there is yet
another me
that i can live with
for another more time
to be reborn
and use the youth
that i have wasted
without much thought.
i see, i am melting,
i see, i am air.

You Are Still You On That Dimming Fading Light

you are still you on that dimming
fading light in the room where we softly talk
the years did not diminish you
your hair still curly, black and shiny hanging on the side of your ears
your forehead did not give in to the furrows of your sorrows
no wrinkles reside on your cheeks, tight and smooth on the light
of the small gas lamp
your gaze lands on my eyes like soft hands caressing my face
i gaze in return like the way how we understand each other
when we were so young and playful
when we tried to defy authority only to end in submission
you are still you in your undying love for me
as i have unlearned what we have taken as memories for ourselves
i, now, in my indifference, accepts what life is
the coldness of reason, the grip of necessity, the confidence
of being stuck and not moving to a new direction
looking at you with pity
holding firm for tears not to fall, and then opening the door
closing it again and moving away
feeling the weakness again
running to the streets and not looking back at your face
realizing how the years fell heavy on my back
how i have betrayed myself

you are you, firm and so beautiful
leave me, for i am no longer strong, so ugly like a heart that no longer feels

Skin Hair

Skin Hair…

Where else does the earth rise?

settle down with a fall,

cover with strand...

after other strand,

of hair curl,

loom adversely,

along the length,

along the breadth....

of a man, woman

where it is delicate, where it is private...

pronounced an' concealed.

on the face above the eyes,

like a brush of feathers,

above the lip,

a moustache…

eloquently trim,

tweezed eye browses,

hair flock grace the neck,

onto the back.

Along the shin,

Along the skin,

Smooth touch rendered,

Chill rising the hair follicles,

Desire burn,

In the shower wet with soap,

Silk fiber strand,

Run through fingers of a lover,

Relishing the sensations erect,

Tiny hair, almost as fur…

Souring along the back,

Trough upon the skin,

Collect scent of a love scene.

The skin here dark,

Chocolate born,

Wind caress these, both hair an' skin

Creature so supreme,

Conquer all but this, delicate

Feather brush of skin against skin,

Hair rise here thin,

Space of a love gaze seen,

Hair on skin….

The Mirror

There I sighted the lonesome lass
a look of despair on her lifeless face
tears brimming in her gloomy eyes
her dark unkempt hair – a shade of sorrow
may be I had seen her somewhere before
as she looked at me with a knowing gaze

There was a deafening silence between us
I tried to speak but the words had frozen out
So I kept on staring at her –
- and She at Me

Her lamenting eyes seemed to whisper:
“ my bruised heart has been aching so long,
it cannot bear the pain any more…
it seeks solace, it seeks relief,
it’s withering away of endless grief! ”

I knew not how to console her
feeling just as helpless as she was
so donning a mask over the “real” Me
and a “made-up” smile on my face
I turned away from the mirror
and trudged along with the world’s brisk pace

Every Time I Face the Mirror

Every time I face that mirror
I see the face
The face of fear

Every time I face that mirror
I hear those words
I should have said

Every time I face that mirror
I see the eyes
The eyes filled with tears

Every time I face that mirror
I see the girl
The girl that is ashamed

Every time I face the mirror
I see the pain
The pain she faces every day

Every time I face that mirror

Jimmy Jet And His TV Set

I'll tell you the story of Jimmy Jet--
And you know what I tell you is true.
He loved to watch his TV set
Almost as much as you.

He watched all day, he watched all night
Till he grew pale and lean,
From 'The Early Show' to 'The Late Show'
And all the shows in between.

He watched till his eyes were frozen wide,
And his bottom grew into his chair.
And his chin turned into a tuning dial,
And antennae grew out of his hair.

And his brains turned into TV tubes,
And his face to a TV screen.
And two knobs saying 'vert.' and 'horiz.'
Grew where his ears had been.

And he grew a plug that looked like a tail
So we plugged in little Jim.
And now instead of him watching TV
We all sit around and watch him.

Mirror To Mirror

Written by gerry beckley, 1994
Found on hourglass.
I havent seen forever
Dont even know her name
I call on dreams and other schemes
To try and win that game
Now that its over, darling
Look into my eyes
Seein your own reflection
Much to your surprise
Were seein mirror to mirror
Face to face
We look but we cannot see
Mirror to mirror
Seems to trace
What happened to you and me
And though we tried in earnest
The distant silence yells
We call on wings and other things
To try and break that spell
Now that its over, darling
Truth in the common cause
We stare at our own indifference
By seeing the others flaws
Were seein mirror to mirror
Face to face
We look but we cannot see
Mirror to mirror
Seems to trace
What happened to you and me
Oh, mirror to mirror, mirror to mirror
Mirror to mirror, whats come over me
As we look inside, theres nowhere to turn
Theres nowhere to hide
Now that its over, darling
Look into my eyes
Seein your own reflection
Much to your surprise
Were seein mirror to mirror
Face to face
We look but we cannot see
Mirror to mirror
Seems to trace
What happened to you and me
Oh, mirror to mirror, mirror to mirror
Mirror to mirror, whats come over me
Mirror to mirror, mirror to mirror
Mirror to mirror, whats come over me

Apple

red shiny apple
in your
throat, do you still breathe inside your heart?

red shiny apple
between my legs these friends of my thighs

i am a tree and you are that woman
craving for the red shiny apple
in my garden

i do not claim innocence for my wanton actions
before the snake and
my God

i will say i will always love you
bend over me woman and i will lay open my mouth
fill it with your tongue

pour in the drops of apple juice
to my cracking lips

water my garden and fill it with flowers from your hair

The Kiss

She turns her head gently
From left to right
And from right to left,
Avoiding my blazing lips.

Her shiny ebon hair
Gracefully frames her charming face.
I look into her eyes
And I see in them
The blue waves of the sea,
The flight of birds very high,
The azure serenity of the sky.

I look into her eyes
And I see in them
The green tranquility of the forest
Happiness and sadness,
Her beautiful soul, suffering and love,
The pristine spirit of an ivory dove.

I look into her eyes
And I see in them
The pure white blossoms of Lily
And the sun rising over the mountain,
The bliss and joy of life, the sorrow and the pain.

She turns her head gently
From right to left
And from left to right
Until my lips meet with hers
And I kiss her enchanted, throbbing and trembling.

Time stands still, only the hour grows thin,
Her delicate fingers plough my bare skin.

Sleeping To Dream (Live @ Java Joes - 06.27.02)

words by jason mraz
music by jason mraz & peter stuart
I'm dreaming of sleeping next to you I'm feeling like a lost little boy in a brand new town
I'm counting my sheep and each one that passes is another dream to ashes
and they all fall down.
As I lay me down tonight,
I close my eyes and what a beautiful sight
I'm sleeping to dream about you
I'm so tired of having to live without you
So I'm sleeping to dream about you and I'm so tired
I found myself in the riches (Your eyes, your lips, your hair.) Well you were everywhere
But I woke up in the ditches. I hit the light and I thought you might be here
but you were nowhere. You were nowhere at home.
As I lay me back to sleep
Lord I pray that I can keep
Sleeping to dream about you
I'm so tired of having to live without you
So I'm sleeping to dream about you and I'm so tired
(It's just a little a lullaby to keep myself from crying myself to sleep at night.)
Sleeping to dream about you
I'm so tired of having to live without you
So I'm sleeping to dream about you and I'm so tired

Adoring Mirror

The paintings in the art gallery
Remain the same
And continue to reflect
The eternal beauty
As inspiring today
As when I saw them as a child.

The ways of mirrors are not as true:
In the past a lover brushed her hair
Into the soft gaze of an adoring mirror
That seemed to love her
As much as I did,
But now the lover is gone
And only loneliness is reflected
In the same cold and unsympathetic mirror.

Til I Fell In Love With You

Well my nerves are exploding and my bodys tense
I feel like the whole world got me pinned up against the fence
Ive been hit too hard; Ive seen too much
Nothing can heal me now, but your touch
I dont know what Im gonna do
I was all right til I fell in love with you
Well my house is on fire; burning to the sky
I thought it would rain but the clouds passed by
Now I feel like Im coming to the end of my way
But I know God is my shield and he wont lead me astray
Still I dont know what Im gonna do
I was all right til I fell in love with you
Boys in the street beginning to play
Girls like birds flying away
When Im gone you will remember my name
Im gonna win my way to wealth and fame
I dont know what Im gonna do
I was all right til I fell in love with you
Junk is piling up; taking up space
My eyes feel like theyre falling off my face
Sweat falling down, Im staring at the floor
Im thinking about that girl who wont be back no more
I dont know what Im gonna do
I was all right til I fell in love with you
Well Im tired of talking; Im tired of trying to explain
My attempts to please you were all in vain
Tomorrow night before the sun goes down
If Im still among the living, Ill be dixie bound
I just dont know what Im gonna do
I was all right til I fell in love with you.
