You Are Still You On That Dimming Fading Light
you are still you on that dimming
fading light in the room where we softly talk
the years did not diminish you
your hair still curly, black and shiny hanging on the side of your ears
your forehead did not give in to the furrows of your sorrows
no wrinkles reside on your cheeks, tight and smooth on the light
of the small gas lamp
your gaze lands on my eyes like soft hands caressing my face
i gaze in return like the way how we understand each other
when we were so young and playful
when we tried to defy authority only to end in submission
you are still you in your undying love for me
as i have unlearned what we have taken as memories for ourselves
i, now, in my indifference, accepts what life is
the coldness of reason, the grip of necessity, the confidence
of being stuck and not moving to a new direction
looking at you with pity
holding firm for tears not to fall, and then opening the door
closing it again and moving away
feeling the weakness again
running to the streets and not looking back at your face
realizing how the years fell heavy on my back
how i have betrayed myself
you are you, firm and so beautiful
leave me, for i am no longer strong, so ugly like a heart that no longer feels

You”re Still You
The same hair curling on your head
At 49, you look younger,
There are no wrinkles on your forehead
The cheeks still smooth and tight
Your eyes still glow
Like fireflies reflected in the mirror
The moon against the sky
The way you talk defies the years of your absence
The way you look at me
Your way your gaze flies like a butterfly
Hovering back to me like tender hands
Of a woman
Caressing my face
Like golden yellow wing
Fluttering on the petals of a flower
Indeed, you are still you
Loving me
In gentle restraint and
I am deeply saddened
By my own kind of same
Usual indifference
Of the clouds drifting
Without even the thought
Of stopping by the
Peaks of trees
As you open yourself to the sun like
A tight bud opening its petals
Finally exposing its true gentle colors
A flower blooming
To the kindness of sunshine
And the freshness of the air
That this world can offer
I spread my wings like a yellow butterfly
Fluttering away to another garden

Melissa
you must learn the greatest art that love
has bestowed upon lovers: forgetting
to ease the pain, to heal the wound,
to make the skin as smooth and firm
again, as though love and loss do not
go together.
There is this love that loves, and being loved.
There is also this moment of being tired.
The beginning of losing grip to the hands of
promises. There is this crowded room
with cactus and wine glass. The thorns
alive, the glass remaining untouched.
The wine losing its essence.
The feet wanting to go astray.
There is this door that closes
And shall never open again
Except for another face
Another voice.
Melissa, i will speak about destiny.
You have tried to take the trip to meet it.
It is not there. You played the saddest piece
On that violin, yet there are no tears.
You lose this time. And I am not surprised.
You are meant for someone else
The one with the better face,
The hair more shiny
The one that cries for you
When destiny once evaded you.
You must recall his name.
Because he is no longer here.

Longer than Eternity
I just want the light a little longer
I want to hold your face in my hands
So I could allow my desires to grow stronger
And be ready when the moon in your eyes lands!
‘A little longer’ I always wish it to be
To see through before I read it all
From that point I would never ever be free
From the steepest plunge to the endless fall!
But it’s never greed that consumes me
Rather a craving to slow the pace
To remain frozen longer than eternity
Holding in my hands your face!

Make up to Break up
(Dedication/Inspiration: Hoobastank)
Crawling in the dark,
Pieces and fragments of emotions,
Form fantasies that are more than memories,
Tears of yesterday illuminate the ground,
Gradually moving forward,
and sick of hanging on,
It was all about you,
but it's my turn now.
Losing my grip on reality,
Maybe it's time,
to finally awake,
and face the music.
No one can replace you,
From the bottom of my heart,
I know you're good enough for me.
But I deserve better,
If only it wasn't all about you,
You would say the same.
So without a fight,
You're up and gone,
Escaped from my open arms,
Running in the same direction,
Tired of singing our song.
I thought you were the one,
But you were never there,
So you left unaffected,
Stuck without a voice.
To be with you,
I'll give it all back,
but it's too little too late.
Inside of you,
You're waiting,
but I've already disappeared.

Rock Me To Sleep, Mother
BACKWARD, turn backward, O Time, in your flight,
Make me a child again just for to-night!
Mother, come back from the echoless shore,
Take me again to your heart as of yore;
Kiss from my forehead the furrows of care,
Smooth the few silver threads out of my hair;
Over my slumbers your loving watch keep;—
Rock me to sleep, mother,—rock me to sleep!
Backward, flow backward, O tide of the years!
I am so weary of toil and of tears,—
Toil without recompense, tears all in vain,—
Take them, and give me my childhood again!
I have grown weary of dust and decay,—
Weary of flinging my soul-wealth away;
Weary of sowing for others to reap;—
Rock me to sleep, mother,—rock me to sleep!
Tired of the hollow, the base, the untrue,
Mother, O mother, my heart calls for you!
Many a summer the grass has grown green,
Blossomed and faded, our faces between:
Yet, with strong yearning and passionate pain,
Long I to-night for your presence again.
Come from the silence so long and so deep;—
Rock me to sleep, mother,—rock me to sleep!
Over my heart, in the days that are flown,
No love like mother-love ever has shone;
No other worship abides and endures,—
Faithful, unselfish, and patient like yours:
None like a mother can charm away pain
From the sick soul and the world-weary brain.
Slumber's soft calms o'er my heavy lids creep;—
Rock me to sleep, mother,—rock me to sleep!
Come, let your brown hair, just lighted with gold,
Fall on your shoulders again as of old;
Let it drop over my forehead to-night,
Shading my faint eyes away from the light;
For with its sunny-edged shadows once more
Haply will throng the sweet visions of yore;
Lovingly, softly, its bright billows sweep;—
Rock me to sleep, mother,—rock me to sleep!
Mother, dear mother, the years have been long
Since I last listened your lullaby song:
Sing, then, and unto my soul it shall seem
Womanhood's years have been only a dream.
Clasped to your heart in a loving embrace,
With your light lashes just sweeping my face,
Never hereafter to wake or to weep;—
Rock me to sleep, mother,—rock me to sleep!

When It Hurts The Least
I will leave you with tears crawling down my face
I will leave and it will feel like moving to hell from grace
I will leave because i cannot bear your distance
I will leave because life just wont give us a chance
I will leave knowing i have done everything i could do
I will leave owning nothing but our memories and your photo
I will leave with the last bit of pride left in me
I will leave but first i will unlock my heart and set you free
I will leave and it will tear me apart not looking back
I will leave, wave goodbye and my life will slowly turn black
I will leave knowing i was the luckiest victim of your love
I will leave missing every kiss and touch and all i can no longer have
I will leave but i hope you know i am compelled to
I will leave but i will be devistated as i worshiped you
I will leave though it hurts like mad to be forbidden from your sight
I will leave but your lost reply will kill me when i summon you every night

My Dear Friend
you have been there for me no matter what
you have pick me up when i fall down
my dear friend
you are the reason why i am still alive
you are the reason why i can love again
because of you i have the strength to fight against enemies
you understand the pain i'm going through
you make me stand up on my feet
my dear friend
you have always there waiting for my call
you have always put a smile on my face when i feel sad
my dear friend
what would i do without you
who would i be without you
you never avoided me like everybody else
god drift us apart
we no longer see each other face again
my dear friend
everything seems different and harder when you're here
my tears are like waterfall
they keep on falling
my dear friend
please come back into my life
holding hands in the darkness
sing our favorite song until we fall asleep
my dear friend
let finish what we has started together
alone it will take years
my dear friend
you fight my fight
you got my back
my dear friend
how could i thank you
what should i do to please you
oh my dear, dear friend
it is a pleasure to have you as a friend
thank you my dear, dear friend

From A Moving Train
Written by gerry beckley, 1998
Found on human nature.
Ive seen the ides of march
And Ive seen the fall of rome
Ive seen all kinds of stuff
But I never see my home
If my life-line is
These million miles of track
One thing I know by now
There is no turning back
From a moving train
From a moving train
From a moving train
From a moving train
If every venture was
A path to no avail
Id still be rolling down
This never ending trail
If we had a destination
In our sights
We would be helpless as
We passed it in the night
From a moving train (hear the engine running)
From a moving train (you can get on board)
From a moving train (hear the motor humming)
From a moving train (see, youve gotta see the light)
And if by chance you find a woman
That you might love along the way
You better hold her tight
Tell her everythings alright
Or she might jump along the way
From a moving train (hear the engine running)
From a moving train (you can get on board)
From a moving train (hear the motor humming)
From a moving train (see, youve gotta see the light)
From a moving train (hear the engine running)
From a moving train (you can get on board)
From a moving train (hear the motor humming)
From a moving train (see, youve gotta see the light)

Losing Grip
Losing grip she holds to life,
She tells herself she won't let go,
Yet here she sits holding the knife,
Moving it ever so slow.
She sits beside her bed,
Knife pressed to skin,
Knees drawn to her head,
For she knows this is a sin.
Tears fall from her eyes,
They fall against the cuts,
Until the blood begin to dry,
She doesn't like this habbit, yet she's stuck in it's rut.
Her head falls back,
As sobs break the silence of the air,
Crys pour from her thoat, yet in volume they lack.
At the back of her eyelids she stairs.
Her hair falls around her,
A warm brown shall,
Not even the touch of a hand would make her stir,
As she listens to her creators call.
Along the slits she traces,
Time after time, line after line,
Forming a pattern like lace,
The paths, the cuts, so even, so fine.
pain shows through her face,
yet she drinks this pain, it is her feast,
Along her wrist, her body, the blood does trace,
She feels the least.
in the depth of the room,
She sits with nothing, no light,
Only the shine of the moon.
She knows sha can't stop, yet it feels so right.
The anger, the sorrow, flows through her, it all leaves,
The blood wipes it away, let's her feel numb,
A blanket of blood is weaved.
Her heart beats; a steady drum.
She looks down at her art,
When all the feelings are gone,
She stands, and slows her heart,
And waits for dawn.

Mamie in Malaga.
Mamie met you
in the base camp bar
in Malaga
her curly red hair
damp from a recent shower
and said
Picasso was born here
In this bar?
you said
No
she moaned
In the city
in 1881
and she took the drink
you'd bought her
I like Picasso don't you?
she asked
taking a sip
of the drink
and you noticed
the tight tee shirt
snugly holding
her firm breasts
and her eyes bright
as sunlight's breaking dawn
yes
you said
I like his later work
not the Blue
or Pink period or
that Cubist shite
and your eyes
slipped downwards
along her slender frame
the tight blue jeans
caressing her small
but plumpish ass
her fingers holding
the glass
and you thinking
of other things
far removed
from Picasso‘s art
though knowing he
would understand
where your mind
had wandered
and what the scene
your mind had set
like some dramatist
preparing for a play
she sipped more
of the drink
her head thrown back
the nice turn
of the neck
the chin
the nose
the ears protruding slight
between her red
and curly hair
and wondered deep
as you drank your own
if the other hair below
between her thighs
was as red and tight
as that above
and she said
breaking through
your thoughts
Was it lust or love
that moved his brush
Picasso I mean?
and oh you mused
taking on her words
and squeezing
the meaning
from each syllable
that was uttered
on her breath
to lay my head
upon her breast
not to sleep
but dreaming rest
and you turning to her
said High love or low lust
fed by his fond muse
moved his brush I trust.

Her Hands Are Stronger Now
she greets you by the door. She knows you are coming.
Her heart pounds for you.
She shows the room. It looks for you for many years.
Now she brags the room is alive.
she opens the window and lets the air
and the trees know that you are here finally.
they all talk about you know.
they nod, you are no longer a dog.
Or a parakeet.
The chair opens its arms for you.
You take your seat. She asks you if you miss coffee.
Black coffee, without sugar.
You look around. There is nothing changed here.
20 years ago, all the structures are faithful
to their positions.
They miss you and like to embrace you.
She is restrained like a dam.
No tears this time.
Not even some tears of joy.
She knows why you are here.
The room, the tree and the window,
the floors are blind.
She knows that this will be the last time
of your compromise.
She is dead 20 years back
when you told her
about the truth.
How can she feel like the room, the floor,
the tree and the window
How can she be as foolish as air and cloud?
Her hands are strong now.
They write her name, her signature to sorrow.
Her heart notes the final statement.
Life is over.
Game is over.

Reasons
Living on the streets of nowhere
Nobody understands and nobody cares
Nobody Listens, so who can I tell my life is just a living hell
I'm going back and forth no one to turn to
Slowly losing my mind so what am I doin'
If you could only see the pain and hurt in my soul
But you don't understand me so how could you know
Sometimes it gets so bad I think I'm losing it
Can't get a hand out of life so I'm losing my grip
And when you lose your grip, then you begin to slip
Death is just waiting one to trip
Heading down the path to nowhere
No one can hear me, 'cause nobody's there
Life gets darker and there's no light at all
When the ways of this world just prepare me for the fall
What can I do, what can I say
I don't know love, only hate
What would you do if you were mep
I guess you'll never know
How would it feel to walk in my shoes
A victim of this world only used and abused
Trapped in a box with the walls coming down on me
Suffocated by my sin, it keeps drowning me
They say they know how I feel
Let's end it all, right now, that's how I feel
Don't have a care in the world, life means nothing
Don't look back, don't look back, just keep running
Run - Keep running
Run - Keep running
How long, o Lord?
Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
And everyday have sorrow in my heart
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
Look on me and answer, o Lord my God
Give light to my eyes or I will sleep in death
My enemy, will say "I have overcome him"
And my foes rejoice when I fall
But I still believe in you Lord
And I know that you're real, you're so real Lord
Come and take me away from this place Lord
Everyday I will follow and seek your face Lord
But I trust in your unfailing love
My heart rejoices in your salvation
I will sing to you my Lord
For he has been, for he has been
Good to me
You're the one who rescued me
And you're the one who set me free
I kept on running, but there's nowhere to hide
You took me in with your arms open wide
You loved me first when no one else would
You died for me so I give my life to you
False hopes and lies
But you're the one who's next time I run
I'm running straight to you

Sunshine And Flowers And Your Way Of Loving
susnhine, spreading sunshine, warming my face
spreading this warm caress to my body, my shoulders,
bathe
take the basins of sunshine in the cups of your hands
feel
close your eyes and feel the sunshine falling in your hair
running to your ears
then open your eyes
to the blooms of flowers, the roses and daffodils in the garden
where a chair is there
where you sit
looking at me, beside you, bathing to sunshine, closing my eyes
feeling the warmth of the gazes of your eyes, the pulse of your wrist
the palm
your hands running
slowly all over me,
sunshine and hands and eyes closing
opening to dazzling color and closing again
to the thoughts of love
of you always loving me

Cinderella Dream
The tears that remain
Fall down my face
That little girl I used to be
No longer has a childhood dream
She dreamed of a love everlasting
Like Cinderella in her castle
I was porcelain
But now I’m broken
Shattered into pieces
No longer a whole
This little girl sum of you used to know
No longer put on a show
To hide the fears she had
And the times when she missed her dad
She thought she was so strong but
then you came along and tore her down
She no longer has a smile upon her face
She sits in her room and all her memories fade

Emmaline Conner room 101(contest winner writing.com)
Lids slowly closing, aged eyes rimmed with red
Blue veined hands clutching sheets to her chin
Fond memories, old boyfriends, gaily dance in her head
A Time traveler, scanning archives, sequestered within
My knock brings her back to this time, here and now
With a start she awakens, closes softly memory’s door
With a smile I approach, place a hand on her brow
Gently bringing her back to the present once more
Tucking a bib beneath her chin like an infant
Huge Breakfast tray pulled close to her breast
Eyes mockingly wide in jesting amazement
Solemnly promises to give it her best
I sit by her side, uncapping and helping
With the soft pureed breakfast I provided
A few birdlike bites, her resolve quickly melting
She’s really quite full now, she’s decided
Chiding her gently to eat some more food
she jokingly tells me she’s watching her weight
And with age earned authority it’s to be understood
At a fat eighty pounds, it’s already too late
I remove the tray, knowing when I’m beaten
By a wisp of a woman who grows more wispy each day
Each day of each week less food is eaten
Not much more time in this bed will she stay
diaper changing endured with lady-like grace
bed bath accepted with placid aplomb
Grey hair brushed back and tied with white lace
Wizened face a portrait of complacent calm
Dear friend, earnest student, strong right hand for her mother
Many persons this fine lady has played
Big sister for small brother, to strong passionate lover
Roles without end and with deep love portrayed
As I place the call button close to her hands
She dreamily places withered hands over mine
Be sure to come back here for lunch, she demands
And this time be sure to bring wine
Eyes slowly closing, drifting off into slumber
I gently pull sheets to her chin
Once more a time traveler, to memories without number
She travels back to the past once again
At another door I knock softly so not to alarm
Another time traveler, body here, mind away
A grandfatherly figure with tubes in his arm
Nurses whisper to me that he’s not long to stay
I wipe food from the corners of his mouth as I feed him
While thinking how much these people endure
Admiring them all as their sight starts to dim
Time travelers, in their memories all safe and secure
Silence suddenly broken, by speakers in halls
Attention, Code 99, Room 101!
My spoon stops… suspended… my heart seems to pause
Time traveler, sweet traveler, where have you gone?
At lunch time I knock softly, sadly open the door
Empty bed, newly made, makes my eyes sting with tears
Emmaline Connor, Time traveler, sleeps here no more
Is once more a young lady…
traveling back through the years

You Broke Me
you broke me,
you let me fall,
you never looked back,
you just kept walking.
How could you,
just leave me there,
on my knees begging,
for your return.
I loved you and still do,
i always have and always will,
you need me,
like i need you.
i know you feel it,
you love me too,
but your too far now,
you can't return.
we had something,
something strong,
no one could break it,
until you walked away.
i never thought you would,
but you did,
walked out that door,
never to come back.
tears fell and hit the floor,
they still do,
but i will never let it go,
never forget that day.
you feel it,
hell you still do,
you just dont want to,
you think it's done.
i know you want me to crawl back,
but never will you see that day,
i'm stronger than that,
life will catch up to you.
time will tell,
tell you that it's you,
you left so it's gone,
i'm moving on.
i hate to say it but,
i'm glad this happened,
i now see the truth,
of whom you really are.
so goodbye,
good luck,
i hope to see you,
never...

My Red House
My Red House
Be quiet as a mouse
I once played in that red house
Shy was I, like a little mouse
Tippy toed I went looking around
Giggling, without making any sound
Happy was I to run around and play
My very own home to live and stay
My Red House
Be quiet as a mouse
Darkness came swiftly one night
A sense of something was not quite right
The shadows came across the wall
Covering my eyes, ready for my fall
The sounds of whips and chains dragged
against the floor
The sheer terror numbed me from looking
passed that door
My Red House
Be quiet as a mouse
The darkness slowly turned to grey
The black clouds lifting away
No longer trapped, I did not need to stay
Free was I to let go and make my own way
So ever slowly, opening that door
I could see the light and so much more
My Red House
Be quiet as a mouse
Changing and always moving
Never stopping and always wanting
Step by step, I shed all those tears
One at a time, I climbed up those stairs
Moving closer to where I want to be
No longer a child but an adult me
My Red House
Be quiet as a mouse
I came home today
The Red House, same as it was yesterday
Slowly, walking up that hill
Everything seems to be in a stand still
I could only stay for a while
Before the darkness comes within a mile
My Red House
Be quiet as a mouse
The breath of life you gave to me
But took away the child within me
No longer a pawn to your destruction
I have found my peace and resolution
Turning away towards the path of light
I see a very beautiful sight
My Red House
There is no longer a mouse

When I Turn Off The Living Room Light
Who cares if youre jewish,
And your breath smells of garlic,
And your nose is a shiny red light.
To me you are gorgeous,
And everythings right,
When I turn off the living room light.
Your clothes are old-fashioned,
Your knuckles are bony,
Your hair looks a terrible sight.
But I dont have to see you,
The way that you are,
When I turn off the living room light.
When I turn off the living room light.
I dont have to see you,
The way that you are,
When I turn off the living room light.
Well its not that you are ugly,
And Im not being cruel,
It helps me to relax, dear,
It helps to keep me cool.
Now I am not intending,
To make you feel ashamed,
Whats wrong in me pretending?
cause you cant help being plain.
Your nose may be bulbous,
Your face may be spotty,
Your skin may be wrinkled and tight.
But I dont want to see you,
The way that you are,
So I turn off the living room light.
We dont feel so ugly,
We dont feel so draggy,
We dont feel so twisted up tight.
And we dont feel as ugly as we really are,
When we turn off the living room light.
When we turn off the living room light.
We dont feel as ugly as we really are,
When we turn off the living room light.
