I gaze into my crystal ball
I concentrate to still my mind.
At first I see nothing at all
I know not what I seek to find.

I only know I have received
a summons which I must obey.
In this I cannot be deceived
my farsight then comes into play.

I see strange ships I recognise
as Vikings making for the shore.
They hope to take us by surprise
as they have often done before.

But not this time we are forewarned
My chieftain placed his trust in me.
The little man the warrior scorned
will prove to them that he can see.

Despite the darkness of the night,
the movements of the enemy
Although he is too weak to fight
he can ensure their victory.

The chieftain rouses his war band.
Each warrior prepared to fight
the fierce intruders on their land.
Who will be dead by morning light.

They are intent on plundering
as they have always done before
But they will die wondering
just how we knew they’d come ashore.

To make quite sure they can’t retreat
The chieftain sends some handpicked men
who will set fire to their fleet.
These Vikings will not see again

The rocky sides of home fjiords
Their longships laden down with loot
They will have died beneath our swords.
The boot is on the other foot.

They came to loot but died instead
thanks to my ability
to foresee things that lie ahead.
We celebrate the victory.

Quiescent now my crystal ball
reflecting only candle light.
The warriors have no doubt at all
that I am gifted with true sight.

Soldier

The soldier, he has many battle scars.
But there's only a few, others can see.
The wounds, they did not kill him,
They made him who he was called to be.
Although some of his battles were easy,
Through each of his battles he died.
The pieces, which were his true enemy.
Were the pieces that did not survive.
When the soldier, he goes into battle,
He must know who his enemies are.
They are the ones that would harm another,
And make the soldier, seem like he, was the star.
It is only once you discover the enemy,
The march to victory, then can begin.
For the war that the soldier is fighting.
Is the battle he fights from within.
In each of us there is a soldier.
And each day, we fight the good fight.
For the ones who walk into victory,
Are the ones who find their true light.

Warrior, Mind and Soul

come to think of it...
my head is tilted toward and against
breaking the wall of enmity, chatting with mighty warrior

victory has come to stay...
i cannot be a slave to the soul that weak, crawling, no not me
i will show my trophy to the simple soul, but the warrior
rejoice with me.

travel in thick darkness, fear nothing but the flies the can touch and reach me soul and mind because strength come within

i cannot stay here any more, lofty in the air ready to fly
because even warrior and the mighty have gone to sleep
rule my world among the simple..

sleep sleep sleep they said but...
no soldier sleep not in the battle unless is ready to be sacrificed inn the shire... yes winner wins and loser lose

The Setting Sachem

'Twas an Injin chieftain, in feathers all fine,
Who stood on the ocean's rim;
There were numberless leagues of excellent brine
But there wasn't enough for him.
So he knuckled a thumb in his painted eye,
And added a tear to the scant supply.

The surges were breaking with thund'rous voice,
The winds were a-shrieking shrill;
This warrior thought that a trifle of noise
Was needed to fill the bill.
So he lifted the top of his head off and scowled
Exalted his voice, did this chieftain, and howled!

The sun was aflame in a field of gold
That hung o'er the Western Sea;
Bright banners of light were broadly unrolled,
As banners of light should be.
But no one was 'speaking a piece' to that sun,
And therefore this Medicine Man begun:

'O much heap of bright! O big ball of warm!
I've tracked you from sea to sea!
For the Paleface has been at some pains to inform
Me, _you_ are the emblem of _me_.
He says to me, cheerfully: 'Westward Ho!'
And westward I've hoed a most difficult row.

Women Weep

Behind a banner men unite
arrayed in armour shining bright.
Each warrior prepared to die,
ready to fight but knows not why.
It has been so since time began,
each yearns to prove he is a man.
The widows weep and wail and mourn.
Was it for this our sons were born?
To die upon some battlefield
be carried home upon his shield.
Because his chieftain would not yield.

That’s how it was in days of yore
when tribal chieftains went to war
Still human nature does not change
and foolish men see nothing strange.
Enlisting in some obscure cause
to fight and die in useless wars
Their women folk are left to cry
the price they pay is far too high.
The burning question must be why.

We do not learn from history.
There really is no mystery,
young men are still fooled easily
by politicians who they see
As learned men who are just and wise
and foolishly believe their lies
The women folk are not so blind
but head strong men pay little mind
to well found fears of womenkind

Though womenfolk have always known
that once men hear the trumpets blown
The men folk lose their common sense
and rush to fight in the defence
of what they’re told is liberty
by those placed in authority.
So children are left fatherless
and womenfolk in deep distress.
Men's foolishness is limitless.

Domestic Shades 4

The thief was the chieftain that night
Stole from five houses erst in full flight
Last was ours at late night
Must've been there enough sound definite
As the windows were cut open straight
And weapons, palm-logs caught later our sight
Stupid me, unusually slept without a shake slight
However usual time set me ready for a plight
Monition woke up to wake up my daughter's exam fright
By then back door slammed me down at a dark height
Alarmed tongue drove the legs to fall and fear and excite
'Thief, thief' screamed my mind ready to fight
Nudged my husband with all my might
Stirred up hubby locked out of his sleep freight
Just to let the chieftain out of sight
Wide- open back door, broken windows stood quite
However remarkable was that night
For dacoity hacked many houses of our site
And trust, cop could bravely trace them out right

An Allegory

The fight was over, and the battle won
A soldier, who beneath his chieftain’s eye
Had done a might deed and done it well,
And done it as the world will have it done—
A stab, a curse, some quick play of the butt,
Two skulls cracked crosswise, but the colours saved—
Proud of his wounds, proud of the promised cross,
Turned to his rear-rank man, who on his gun
Leant heavily apart. ‘Ho, friend!’ he called,
‘You did not fight then: were you left behind?
I saw you not.’ The other turned and showed
A gapping, red-lipped wound upon his breast.
‘Ah,’ said he sadly, ‘I was in the smoke!’
Threw up his arms, shivered, and fell and died.

I Once Was A Warrior
A Sonnet to the Wounded Warriors

I once was a warrior, but now today,
My battlefields are not so far away.
The foe that I face have no weapons of might,
Anxiety and worry are the enemy I fight.

I once was a soldier, but now I sit,
No longer in a body that’s lean and fit.
No greater cause, no more fields of glory,
The guns are now silent, no friends, no war stories.

I once was a sailor, but now I lay,
Trapped in my body in bed all day.
As I watch the new men go off to war,
I will never again sail to distant shores.

I once was an airman, the sky my domain,
But today just the memory is all that remains.
As I gaze out my window in the dark of the night,
Knowing I never again will take flight.

I am a Marine, and I always will be,
Broken, not bowed, though my eyes cannot see.
The hospital halls now the trails that I take,
The pain that’s inside, the new enemy I face.

I once was a warrior, but now today,

And my greatest of battles I must face alone.

Well I really had a ball last night
I held all the pretty boys tight
I was feelin single, seein double
Wound up in a whole lotta trouble
But today Ill face the big fight
But I really had a ball last night
When I came home from work this morning
My baby was feelin low
And he told me what was on his mind
Then he told me where I could go
Well I didnt go where he told me to
Cause the water was cold in the lake
Now theres something fishy bout this whole deal
I dont see where I made my mistake

Cleburne

Another ray of light hath fled, another Southern brave
Hath fallen in his country's cause and found a laureled grave-
Hath fallen, but his deathless name shall live when stars shall set,
For, noble Cleburne, thou art one this world will ne'er forget.

'Tis true, thy warm heart beats no more, that on thy noble head
Azrael placed his icy hand, and thou art with the dead;
The glancing of thine eyes are dim; no more will they be bright

No battle news disturbs thy rest upon the sun-bright shore,
No clarion voice awakens thee on earth to wrestle more,

The Duality Of Darkness And Light

If I search and seek inside my mind
The deeper I look the more I find
Exists a spiritual duality of darkness and light
My soul mirrors the world, the day and the night
In the darkness I seek the light to guide
From the sunlight I seek a shadow to hide
The dark is my shield, the light is my blade
They guide and protect me, the light and the shade
They are the sides of coin, opposed yet part of the same
They the sides of a blade, one cold one aflame
This is the spiritual duality of darkness and light
The immortal struggle of the day and the night
Two sides of one coin, two sides of one blade
The darkness and light, tools used yet obeyed
The shade of the daylight, the light in the night
Our immortal mortality, our hope yet our plight
The darkness a shield, the light a bright sword
To refuse their protection we cannot afford
Their immortal struggle, mirrored in our souls
They both play their parts, they both have their roles
A spiritual duality the darkness and light
A reflection of reality the day and the night
