Apathy Rages Unchecked

I have a strong aversion to.
Doing what I’m told to do
Though other people think I should
I have a different attitude
I have a brain I choose to use
To form my independent views.
Although I’m sure to face abuse
Because I stubbornly refuse
To do what they expect of me
To be what they want me to be
I am a man and I am free.
To live the way that I want to
And do the things I choose to do.
Although the vast majority
do as they’re told quite happily.
They are bogged down in apathy
they can’t think independently.
they either can’t or don’t want to
It makes me sad but I must say
They choose to take the easy way.
They follow like a flock of sheep
Because their minds are lulled to sleep.
they are bombarded constantly.
with adverts by the powers that be.
Which are designed to fill their mind
to make quite sure they never find.
Any reason to complain.
Because they cannot use their brain..
They are convinced that they are free
and yet submit to slavery.
At least that’s how it seems to me.
Things aren’t as they appear to be
Although the vast majority.
Accept things as they seem to be.

Free Thinker.

I don’t believe the world we see could happen accidentally.
Considered scientifically the evidence convinces me.
There has to be some master plan, some power which is greater than anything conceived by man. Which I believe because I can
think independently. Refuse to follow slavishly
the ideas which are currently accepted by humanity.
Though different creeds hold different views from a man is free to choose.
I am entitled to refuse. After all what can I lose?
I can accept that I might be completely wrong quite possibly.
But I believe that I am free to reject theology.
Though warring creeds have every right to see it as a sacred rite
Freedom to worship as they choose. I can respect their different views.
That does not mean I must agree. I tolerate quite easily
and all I ask their respect. I ‘m not a fool I don’t expect
they will relinquish bigotry and cease to try to convert me.
I don’t belong to any creed Because I can’t see any need.
I think that god created me and gave me the ability
To use my brain to think things through and that is what I choose to do

Independent view

I reject Christianity
the teachings of Mohammed too
I must confess I’m not a Jew
I deny their authority
I choose to take a different view.
But I do not expect you
to give up what you believe is true.
I can accept quite easily.
Others may hold different views
which they believe in fervently.
It’s up to them But I refuse
not to act independently
I have free will so I can choose
To take responsibility.

Interconnectedness.

The internet can’t be controlled
by any form of government
Because it’s gained too strong a hold.
Which came about by accident.

Nobody can control the flow
Although some governments still try
Of information to and fro
There is one simple reason why.

The common man has access to
What governments try to conceal
A system that’s completely new
Now people can safely reveal

The secrets of the powers that be.
The things we aren’t supposed to know
they can post anonymously
There’s nothing governments can do.

At last the people have a voice
no government can suppress
The powers that be have little choice
and in the future even less.

The internet is here to stay.
It’s up to us we must adjust.
WE can’t go back to yesterday
A world of mutual mistrust.

One thing we must appreciate.
Though information’s flowing free
It isn’t always accurate
We have to choose selectively.

What we accept what we reject
and draw our own conclusion.
I have good reason to suspect
more not less confusion.

The internet may prove to be
Either a blessing or a curse.
Though I believe quite honestly.
The internet won’t make things worse

Than when governments could decide
What people were allowed to know
To preserve the nations pride
They lied alike to friend and foe.

The internet has set us free
to find a different better way.
Though we will have to wait and see
What kind of price we have to pay.

Choose to Live Life

IF is more 'is' today than ever.
There is no quiz about it now.
And doubts once allowed are gone.
Believe it.
And become doubt free.

It is there in your face.
With nothing else to replace it.
Wishing it would go away...
Fades with a reality that stays,
Unerased!
With traces of pain...
To frame delusions.

Believe it.
And become doubt free.
Choose to live your life.

Yesterday,
Those easy daydreams came.
Sweetened with weekend escapades.
To leave behind a week,
Of those scheduled committments.
You sought to meet and keep.

Now a seriousness appears.
To reminisce those things done...
As dropping teardrops come to some.

Choose to live your life.

IF is more 'is' today than ever.
There is no quiz about it now.
And doubts once allowed are gone.
One must choose to live life!
No longer can anyone afford to sacrifice time...
To appease the whims of others.
Especially if they are in debate...
Discussing the value of your fate.

Choose to live life...
With a happiness sought without 'things'.
Or a happiness someone promises to bring.
Choose to live life!
Your life!

Divine protection?

Although we try, we can’t define the attributes of the divine
So most of us choose to accept what we are told; someone’s concept.

Is God a he? Is god a she, perhaps both simultaneously
Did God create the universe? Is curiosity our curse?

Is it right that we should fear god? I find this idea rather odd
It does not seem appropriate to live in fear the normal state.

Maybe God is a neutral source of power we can tap into
Though we are free to choose our course. Responsible for what we do

I do not know what I believe and I refuse to speculate
There’s nothing guessing will achieve I will not learn if I but wait.

Perchance we are collectively all tiny parts of one great whole
And will attain divinity, when we rejoin the over soul.

A theory you may reject and many will I must expect
alhough I say in its defence you must weigh up the evidence.

Consider what you have been taught, cast doubt on its validity
It may not be as you had thought, an absolute, a certainty.

The truth is that nobody knows. Because we aren’t intended to.
If we were wise we’d recognise some things are hidden from our eyes.

Because we could not comprehend the nature of divinity.
To suffering humanity God must remain a mystery.

Less Analytical

You can make up your mind,
That you will...
Find the time to be,
More exclusive...
In reducing your excuses.

You can make up your mind,
That you will...
Find the time to be,
More correct...
And,
Less analytical.

Remove yourself from being in the middle,
Of drain.
Remove yourself from being second fiddle,
For anything you dislike...
By,
Deciding what is right.

And you can free yourself from even being,
Very critical.
You can free yourself from seeking things,
More political.
And you will live a life,
With a meaning that is right...
For you.
If this is what you choose.

You can make up your mind,
That you will...
Find the time to be,
More exclusive...
In reducing your excuses.

You can make up your mind,
That you will...
Find the time to be,
More correct...
And less analytical.

You can free yourself from even being,
Very critical.
You can free yourself from seeking things,
More political.
You can live a life,
With a meaning that is right...
For you!
With a doing that you choose.

And...
You will live your life,
With a meaning that is right...
For you.
If,
This is what you choose.

Democracy v Liberty

The fathers of democracy.
The ancient Greek philosophers
were dependent on slavery.

Which leaves me in a quandary.
How can it be democracy
to have such inequality?

I think democracy should be
a universal human right.
Though it is not quite obviously.

An ideal to aspire to.
Which one day might be possible.
The time has come now to review.

What we mean by democracy.
If everybody has their say.
It might well lead to anarchy.

When we elect a government.
The will of the majority
is what they’re meant to represent..

But it seems they rarely do.
This cannot be democracy.
the many are ruled by the few.

Who gain control quite legally
because their wealth allows them to
encouraged by our apathy.

The systems open to abuse
The people have the power to
insist on change; which we don’t use.

We vote or not just as we choose.
A facet of democracy.
I would be hesitant to lose.

It seems to me democracy
is something which we can’t achieve
and still retain our liberty.

There is no way that I can see
which will be fair to everyone.
I must admit despondently.

A partial democracy
is what we have and will retain
a curb upon our liberty.

You have no reason to complain
if you choose not to use your vote.
You have the freedom to abstain.

I Believe So...

does the wind choose to blow?
do rivers choose to run?
does your heart choose to beat?
i believe so...

does the earth choose to turn,
in perfect rhythm, year by year?
do the tides choose to come and go,
in cadence with the moon?
i believe so...

does society choose to be oppressed,
if only by apathy's inaction?
do we choose to let people starve
when we turn the other head?
i believe so...

do we choose war over peace,
to feed the need of greed?
do we choose to destroy nature
by our very lifestyles?
i believe so....

but can we change destiny,
and avert the final blow?
can we open our minds and hearts,
and reclaim life for the living?
i believe so...

Future Imperative

Essential to efficiency.
When writing prose or poetry.
Elegant simplicity,
will enhance the clarity.

Of what you’re trying to convey
in the most artistic way
Although it makes me sad to say
Standards are slipping day by day.

Communicating at high speed.
Young people do not see the need.
For rules they think needs must impede.
The messages they want to read..

The youngsters use technology
to sweep away the pedantry.
By far the vast majority
adapted to it readily.

A small vocal minority
Bemoaned the loss of purity
And stubbornly refused to see.
That language changes constantly.

That in the future there would be
a greater need potentially.
A switch towards simplicity
and even less formality.

The flowery language of the past
was very slowly overcast.
It was too cumbersome to last.
When change is due it happens fast.

The need for speed bound to increase.
That does not mean that we should cease.
To write in ways that please
and make each work a masterpiece.

Communicating speedily
a modern day necessity
But we don’t need to let it be
Destroyer of our literacy

We have free will so we can choose
What form of language we should use
What to accept or to refuse
We stand to gain more than we lose.

We can store electronically
more books than any library
of any merit literally
on one small chip quite easily

The nerds can txt phonetically
Where speed is a priority.
While scholars maintain purity
Of classic prose and poetry.

Ignoring A Bad Element

you go for the
good things
not really that
these good things make
you wholesome but
you only exercise your
right to choose
and then one day
this bad element
pops up and you
do not really like
it but you choose
the good element
as you once said
you choose not
to hurt you choose
the best course
greet her hello
do not say goodbye
just pretend that
you are there
that she is there
but inside you
you think about
someone else

the better one
oh, maybe not
the best, but
she is better
than nothing

you don't get rid
of things or people
you embrace them
but then
ignorance sometimes
is cooler than cool.

His Way, My Way

I Have My way to do things
God gives us His Way.

We have a choice now
To choose wisely

If God will make His Way
Where there seems
To be No Other way.

He Works
In A Way
Where We cannot see or hear.

He will make
A way for us to follow
And to believe in His faith.

If we choose wrongly
We bear all consequences
We accept the punishments
Given by God.

So my friends, we
Must choose wisely the way
Of faithful living
And
Trusting in God.

One day by His Way,
We shall see
And meet our God.

My Plea

(07/04/11)

I said a prayer and he heard my plea
And came down to comfort me.
I told him that he knew what
I was going through
I just didn’t know what to do.

I could see that face in that
Blurred vision of him
And he stood with a very wide grin.
He said: my son there are answers all around
You just have to look for them to be found.

For every ailment there is a cure
And of this you can be sure.
The older generations had all the home remedies
Just check with them and you will see.

I have given you a brain to use
And free will for you to choose.
Use what I have given to you
To find the answers.
And choose Which would be right for you
This is all you have to do.

Quick cures you may find
But the correct ones take more time.
As I took time to make everything you see
You just have to wait patiently.

Help yourself and I will help you
And these words are so very true.
If I had made life easy
Would you appreciate what you see.
These are burdens that you must bare
And the rest with you I’ll share.
Now I knew my plea was heard
And to mankind he gave his word.

Why That Should Be Important to Them

When there are those who insist upon doing things their way...
And they do things,
Their way.
Why is it they have negative things to say,
About those who choose not to follow them?
They should be pleased.
Why do they then spend their time,
Attempting to prove to others they are right?
Shouldn't their activities be occupying their minds?
Doing those things their way.
Instead of trying to find out who is not?
And why that should be important to them!
Leaving what they say they do to be left undone.
Afterall...
Isn't having things to do their way the way they wanted,
Anyway?
And why are they upset with those who pay them no attention?
Someone is not doing what they say they do!
And 'busy bodied' nosy people always make claims!

I Could Die For You

Something inside the cards
I know is right
Don't want to live
Somebody elses life
This is what I want to be
And this is what I give to you
Because I get it free
She smiles while I do my time

I could die for you
Oh this life I choose

I'm here to be your only go-between
To tell you of the sights
These eyes have seen
What I really want to do is
Turn it into motion
Beauty that I can't abuse
You know that I'd use my senses to
You can see that
It's only everywhere
I'd take it all and then
I'd find a way to share

Come along and go
Along with me
Wander with me yo
It's all for free

I could die for you
Whatchu wanna do
Oh this life I choose

Come again and tell me
Where you want to go
What it means for me
To be with you alone
Close the door and
No one has to know
How we are

Come along and go
Along with me
Wander with me yo
It's all for free

I could die for you
Whatchu want to do
Oh this life I choose

Sonnet: Choose The Things in Your Life

0 choose your friend who must be good as you;
And choose your spouse better than you; make sure;
And choose the one best as your Teacher too;
And choose ambitions that suit your nature.

0 choose the profession thats truly best;
And choose the hobbies that ne'er interfere;
And choose your Time to begin work, take rest;
And choose your enemies, you surely fear.

0 choose your food that gives extended health;
And choose your garments -comfortable wear;
And choose the honest way to added wealth;
And choose the burden right, body can bear.

0 choose the people who deserve help most;
And choose good principles, yet never boast.

I Refuse

Everythings heaven sent
Thats what you said and went
Inside your fairy glass
Somethin you think will last
And when they crop you like a clown
You got your smile on upside down
B-baby I refuse
(I do refuse)
Uh, you can pick or choose
(I do refuse)
Find omebody else to use
(I do refuse)
cause I refuse to come along
And everythings on a whim
Thats what you said to him
Lyin in wunderlust
Are feelings you never trust
And when they pamper you with ice
I cant believe you dont think twice
Uh baby I refuse
(I do refuse)
Uh, you can pick or choose
(I do refuse)
Find somebody else to use
(I do refuse)
cause I refuse to come along
And everyone makes the play
With nothing left much to say
Theyre all in an endless line
Waiting for equal time
They keep screaming its the truth
And you keep kneelin in the booth
Oh baby I refuse
(I do refuse)
Uh, you can pick or choose
(I do refuse)
Find somebody else to use
(I do refuse)
cause I refuse to come along
Oh, I do refuse
(I do refuse)
Oh, you got nothin to lose
(I do refuse)
Find somebody else to use
(find somebody else to use)
(I do refuse)
cause I refuse to come along
I refuse
(I do refuse)
Ah, oo-oo
(I do refuse)
(find somebody else to use)
(I do refuse)
cause I refuse to come along
I refuse
(I do refuse)
Oo, oh got nothin to lose

Fixed As If Cemented

Those who remain with wishes,
To see things as they would choose to view them.
And not how things are.
Since things are the way they have been...
Unchanged and unbending.
Fixed as if cemented.
There is nothing to say,
To those like that.

Those who disbelieve,
Things are not as they are seen.
But 'should' be the way they would 'like'?
That is alright.
Do not frustrate in argument with them.
Your time...
Not theirs,
Is to mellow like fine wine.
Know this!

Others who have had these 'things'...
Just as they are and wish to leave them that way.
Defend their points of view.
Despite what it is you do.
Whether you condone what is done or not.

And it is difficult to get that across to some people.

But not for the few!
Who have chosen their own lives to live.
And have chosen to do the best they can...
To assist,
With any apparent awakening...
Some stand by and expect.

However,
If things as they are as observed are accepted...
By those affected.
And they wish things to be just the way they are?
'Left-a-lone! '
It is better to leave what is seen that way.
ALONE!

Turn away from it and live one's own life.
Frustration free and nurturing one's peace of mind!

Unless?
There is always an 'unless' involved.

Unless...
One has desires to remain in darkness!
And argue about the prospects,
Of a light that could shine...
Between two ears already known closed.

Optimistic people love the concept of options!

Although,
Some narrow minds will never open that wide!

Attempt to love your fellow man.
It is not easy but you can
What does it matter black or white
all men are equal in my sight.
You have free will and you must choose

Be still and let the silence speak.

Itch In My Brain

You got to stop, its much too deep for me
I was mistaken, yes I dont understand
And my decision, if I choose not to choose
Theres nobody on this line but me
I got a free will that I aint even used yet
I got a free will and I aint gonna use it
til I know what Im doing
Theres an itch in my brain (and I cant get at it)
Theres an itch in my brain (and I cant get at it)
Theres an itch in my brain (and I cant get at it)
And I cant stop thinking til I scratch it
Im still dancing, Im just a change machine
Dont have to tell me Im only waving my arms
But theres so much smoke and so little fire
And theres nobody on this line but me
I got a free will and its making me crazy
I got a free will and I aint gonna use it
til I know what Im doing
I got a free will and Im dying to keep it
I got a free will and I aint gonna use it
