A Small Boys View
The air raid sirens wailing cry.
Search lights criss crossing in the sky
Searching for the enemy
That we can hear but cannot see.
When they are caught in the cross beams
They’re targeted by ack ack teams.
Who aim to score a hit or two.
I’m glad to say they often do.
The gunners know if they get through
the damage that their bombs will do
Fast fighter planes join in the fray
And show no mercy to their prey.
The bombers can’t evade the lights.
The gunners have them in their sights.
Streams of tracers mark the flight
of shells which hurtle through the night.
To bring the bombers down in flames.
Part of the nightly fun and games.
We watched instead of taking cover
We stayed until the raid was over.
Then went to bed quite happily.
Where we were supposed to be.
Sleeping peacefully in safety
Instead of sneaking up to see.
The gunners showing off their skill
Although we were forbidden to.
We disobeyed as children will.
The skylight gave a perfect view
We drew the curtain to one side.
And watched the battles in the sky.
But we were wise enough to hide
The evidence, we did not lie
I’m sure my father never knew.
That we got up to watch the show.
Every night brought something new.
During the war so long ago.
I can remember vividly.
The damage that the bombs had wrought.
When morning came and we could see.
The results of a battle fought.
By deadly foes high in the sky.
Too young to understand the war
We never thought to question why
Or what we were fighting for.
When I look back it seems unreal.
Almost as if it happened to.
somebody else. It makes me feel.
It could not possibly be true.

Through Struggle To The Stars
With roar of engine in his head
Wishing he could’ve stayed in bed,
Off to battle with a grin
Higher, higher the air getting thin.
Over the water testing his gun
Enemy sighted here comes the fun,
In his tail, the guns start to roar
His wing is hit, still shoots as before.
Tail gunners are sharp and quick to learn
Some of our friends never return,
Look out, fighters are coming in low
They maybe ours, don’t shoot ‘till you know.
Bombs away boys then turn back
There’s the target give it plenty of flak,
Planes going down, exploding in the air
We think of loved ones and whisper a prayer.
A gunners day is never done
‘till you know the battles won,
We’ve finished another do or die
Coming to land, the crew heave a sigh.
The clouds reflect a distant glow
Gliding and climbing to the heavens slow,
Scarlet the East that sets the sky
Through struggles to the stars they fly.

The Jacket
Through the Plagues of Egyp' we was chasin' Arabi,
Gettin' down an' shovin' in the sun;
An' you might 'ave called us dirty, an' you might ha' called us dry,
An' you might 'ave 'eard us talkin' at the gun.
But the Captain 'ad 'is jacket, an' the jacket it was new --
('Orse Gunners, listen to my song!)
An' the wettin' of the jacket is the proper thing to do,
Nor we didn't keep 'im waitin' very long.
One day they gave us orders for to shell a sand redoubt,
Loadin' down the axle-arms with case;
But the Captain knew 'is dooty, an' he took the crackers out
An' he put some proper liquor in its place.
An' the Captain saw the shrapnel, which is six-an'-thirty clear.
('Orse Gunners, listen to my song!)
"Will you draw the weight," sez 'e, "or will you draw the beer?"
An' we didn't keep 'im waitin' very long.
~For the Captain, etc.~
Then we trotted gentle, not to break the bloomin' glass,
Though the Arabites 'ad all their ranges marked;
But we dursn't 'ardly gallop, for the most was bottled Bass,
An' we'd dreamed of it since we was disembarked:
So we fired economic with the shells we 'ad in 'and,
('Orse Gunners, listen to my song!)
But the beggars under cover 'ad the impidence to stand,
An' we couldn't keep 'em waitin' very long.
~And the Captain, etc.~
So we finished 'arf the liquor (an' the Captain took champagne),
An' the Arabites was shootin' all the while;
An' we left our wounded 'appy with the empties on the plain,
An' we used the bloomin' guns for pro-jec-tile!
We limbered up an' galloped -- there were nothin' else to do --
('Orse Gunners, listen to my song!)
An' the Battery came a-boundin' like a boundin' kangaroo,
But they didn't watch us comin' very long.
~As the Captain, etc.~
We was goin' most extended -- we was drivin' very fine,
An' the Arabites were loosin' 'igh an' wide,
Till the Captain took the glassy with a rattlin' right incline,
An' we dropped upon their 'eads the other side.
Then we give 'em quarter -- such as 'adn't up and cut,
('Orse Gunners, listen to my song!)
An' the Captain stood a limberful of fizzy -- somethin' Brutt,
But we didn't leave it fizzing very long.
~For the Captain, etc.~
We might ha' been court-martialled, but it all come out all right
When they signalled us to join the main command.
There was every round expended, there was every gunner tight,
An' the Captain waved a corkscrew in 'is 'and.
~But the Captain 'ad 'is jacket, etc.~

I wish peace comes to Gaza
when i feel cold and comfort covering with my blanket
those children are cold and injured even died
when i feel comfort at my home
those children need to move and move again to avoid the bombs
when i smile and laugh here sees awesome scenery
those children looks so mash, scares on their innocent face
although they still not understand
why those happened to them in their ages
when others children could happily play in their playground
those children need to play with damaged bombs surround them
when I take a deep breath and have fresh air
those children need to feel the damage air causing by bombs and bullets
God.. please hold your hand and help them..
If men couldn’t hear no more and their heart are cold enough
You are the only one who could accept prays from all over the world
And make peace in Gaza and not make that place as never ending story
Always war and war and war…

Ode To Big Blue
The oceans of the world were the home of big blue
He was the greatest monster that the world ever knew
And the place that he loved best
Was the waters to the west
Around the blue pacific he did roam
Big blue moved alone for a mighty blue was he
And the battles of the whales was an awesome sight to see
And he took them one by one and he drove them all away
In the mating of the day he was the king
Big blue had fifty wives and he sired forty sons
Though most of them feel victim to the cruel harpoon guns
Ah but he was too much wise to get caught by the gunners eyes
And so he lived at sea a hundred years
His mouth was as large as a tunnel so they say
His hide was thick as leather and his eyes quick and small
And his back was all scarred by the times he got away
And he knew the smell of whalers did big blue
Big blue passed away to his natural decay
Beside the arctic circle as he travelled up that way
And there never was a man who was born with a gunners hand
Who ever took a pan to big blue
Now the gray whale has run and the sperm is almost done
The finbacks and the greenland rights have all passed and gone
Theyve been taken by the men for the money they could spend
And the killing never ends, it just goes on
The oceans of the earth were the home of big blue
He was the greatest monster that the world ever knew
And the place that he loved best was the waters to the west
Around the blue pacific he did roam

Are they going to dropp the bomb?
Are they going to
dropp the bomb or not,
the though went through my head
and just outside Walvisbay
at a secret airport
nuclear bombs were stacked
on pallets in a row
glowing like copper
with tips looking like lead
and lights were blinding up ahead
and Buccaneer bombers
were ready to go
and special force soldiers
were patrolling the perimeter
and to this day
I do not know
what happened there
and what decisions were made
and what role
played fate
and saw some pilots wait
on instructions
while the bombs
were being loaded
and the rain poured
from a overcast sky
and in the distance
I heard a piper
playing a very sad song
and not a single aircraft
set of to fly that night.

Bombers
Look up I hear the scream of sirens on the wall
I see a policeman crying in the backseat of a dying ford
Hotel waiters leave the bedrooms of stars
Who are far too old
And no-one ever told me
That I could be so cold
Bombers fight at zero feet
Bombers fight at zero
I see an old man knocked to the ground
And beaten by the vicars wife
No-one stops to help theyre far too busy
Trying to save their own lives
A tiny girl screams for mother
And wanders out into the street
I saw her going down underneath
A thousand peoples running feet
Bombers fight at zero feet
Bombers fight at zero
All the junkies pulling needles from their arms
Hope it lasts all night
And all the soldiers curse the day they joined the army
And prepare to fight
In silent bars, in silent rooms, in silent cars
You hide where you can
And me I know just where you are, you see
Im a bomber man
Bombers fight at zero feet
Bombers fight at zero

The Charred Cross
That winter's night the sky did glow
A flaming amber 'neath the stars,
As the city blazed the bombs lit up
The old cathedral spire,
Wave after endless wave they came
The whining drones the sounds from hell,
That echoed through the searchlights
And the anti-aircraft fire.
The city folk were helpless
As they saw their homes and streets destroyed,
The factories and the workshops
One by one were wiped away,
They watched as the cathedral burned
And saw its mighty roof collapse,
That smouldered through the morning
In the cold light of the day.
As the city lay in ruins
And the fallen bricks did fill the streets,
There was a sense of disbelief
So pitiful the sight,
The stench of death did linger through
That still and hushed November air,
Five hundred lives or more they said
Were lost upon that night.
As years did pass the city grew
And rose again from fire and flame,
Yet no one shall forget that time
Engrained for evermore,
Within the hearts of young and old
For made from charred and fallen beams,
A cross stands on the altar now
To show the cost of war.
(In memory of those killed during the Coventry air raid on the night of 14th November 1940.)

The Western
THOR draws a chord invisible
Across the shaking sky:
I hear the tearing of the shell,
The bullets sing and cry,
As, charging through the flames of hell,
The batteries go by.
The gunners laugh about the task,
That man to man has given:
Like Titans, now the guns unmask,
And fire the veils of heaven.
Above the cloud what lights are gleaming?
God's batteries are those,
Or souls of soldiers, homeward streaming
To banquet with their foes?
The floods of battle ebb and flow,
The soldiers to Valhalla go!
They say that, when the day awoke,
And the dying night was wan,
Harry of England rode the smoke,
And led the English van:
And bowmen in the battle-glare
Rose from the ghostly dew:
The clothyard sang upon the air,
And the grey goose-feather flew!
Harry of England is awake,
His archers mind not trench or stake !
And men have seen the Emperor,
The Eagle of the South:
God grant the bonds be loosed by Thor
That bind that marble mouth!
The silver roads of conquest lie
Fast frozen in his brow:
Would those imperious lips were free
To give their orders now!
The floods of battle ebb and flow,
The soldiers to Valhalla go!
Beyond the thunder of the guns,
Beyond the flaming line,
Far from this sky of echoing bronze,
The English valleys shine;
The gardens, moated in the wolds,
By wind and water kissed;
And dainty girls, that England folds
In sunshine and in mist.
The floods of battle ebb and flow,
The soldiers to Valhalla go!
The fighting men go charging past,
With the battle in their eyes,
The fighting men go reeling past,
Like gods in poor disguise:
And stumbling men, whom none will see,
No wife or mother more,
Winged with the wings of Victory,
And helmeted by Thor!
Above the cloud what lights are gleaming?
God's batteries are those,
Or souls of soldiers, homeward streaming
To banquet with their foes?

Along The War Avenue Of honour
Along the war Avenue of Honour a plaque to a dead soldier nailed to every tree
Brave young men who died in battle their reward for their bravery
They died in the war said to end all wars in the killing fields of World war one
But many wars since and far too many bloody battles and peace in the World not yet won.
Wars started by silly ageing men who send the young for them to die
Ageing men who themselves will die of old age and their twilight years they will enjoy,
ageing males heroes of their people we honour cowards as heroes one might say
The young men will go to war for them and the young men with their young lives pay.
The war supposed to end all wars long over almost nine decades since have gone by
But many wars have been fought since then and war pilots dropp their big bombs from the night sky
But suppose that's what will always happen when we give all of our power away
To silly and ageing male war men who with hair dyes cover their gray.
Along the war avenue of honour long dead soldiers names on every tree
Young noble men who died in battle far from homeland and family
In what was to be the war to end all wars yet we don't have much wisdom to show
For the loss of so many fine young men well over eight decades ago.

Im The Ocean
Im an accident, I was driving way too fast
Couldnt stop though, so I let the moment last
Im for rollin, Im for tossin in my sleep
Its not guilt though, its not the company I keep.
People my age, they dont do the things I do
They go somewhere, while I run away with you
I got my friends, and I got my children too
I got her love, shes got my love too.
I cant hear you, but I feel the things you say
I cant see you, but I know whats in my way
Now Im floatin cause Im not tied to the ground
Words Ive spoken seem to leave a hollow sound.
On the long plain, see the rider in the night
See the chieftain, see the braves in cool moonlight
Who will love them when they take another life
Who will hold them when they tremble from the knife.
Voicemail numbers on an old computer screen
Rows of lovers parked forever in a dream
Screaming sirens echoing across the bay
To the old boats, from the city far away.
Homeless heroes walk the streets of their own town
Rows of zeroes on a field thats turning brown
The play baseball, they play football under lights
They play card games and wew watch them every night.
Need distraction, need romance and candlelight
Need random violence, need entertainment tonight
Need the evidence, want the testimony of
Expert witnesses on the brutal crimes of love.
I was too tired to see the news when I got home
Puzzled the curtain, fell into bed alone
Started dreaming, saw the rider once again
In the doorway where she stood and watched for him, watched for him.
Im not present, Im the drug that makes you dream
Im an aerostar, Im a cutlass supreme
In the wrong lane, trying to turn against the flow
Im the ocean, Im the giant undertow
Im the ocean, Im the ocean, Im the giant undertow
Im the ocean, Im the giant undertow
Im the ocean (6x)

7th day of December of 1941 -Pearl Harbor
On this day in early December
Something was being brought us that we surely would always remember
As the sun in Hawaii was just starting to rise
Terror struck us as a surprise
Hitting us so hard and fast
All we wanted to know who it was and long it was going to last
As those unidentified war planes dropp bombs and bullets everywhere we could see
One, two three, my buddies started to fall next to me
It affected a lot of lives
So many men were trapped in the hull of the ship and struggled to stay alive
It caused the sailors to try to cut away the medal and every idea they could deploy
Just to get those out those old men and young boys
Hour after hour they worked from day to night
Never giving up trying without upright
Even though very few got out and were saved
We know that they still fought because they were strong and brave
I only wish one thing
That they only thought about the repercussion that this destruction would bring
As they hit us in those early hours
The truth is that they never knew how mighty was our power
Only if they really knew the real meaning of the rising sun
Then they would know who we were and this war with us never would have begun
As we fought them across the oceans around the earth
We finally realized how much our freedom was worth
This war was fought long and hard
But in the end, we showed that empire that we were dealt the winning card
With that final blow
And was that the reason that our freeom was worth theat long go

Had found its mark
The night I saw you die
under a star struck cross
against the night sky
near the end of the age
your eyes were flaming with rage
as if that fire could leap
and set the night alight
and howitzer guns roared
sending their disciples
with thundering flame
across many miles
to convert with death and blood
and as fast as the enemy came
flooding the bush, the veldt
with armoured chariots
exploding shells, rocket bombs
and projectiles
decimated them
as if the inferno in your eyes
had found its mark
turning every enemy ablaze.

Mother Nature She Will Survive
I feel that we live off of Mother Nature and that to Mother Nature we belong
And if we bite at the hand that feeds us then to ourselves we are doing wrong
Another war now almost certain and more huge bombs will be dropped from the sky
And Mother Nature she will suffer and some of her human children will die.
Harm we do unto others unto our own selves we do
And in these times those words are relevant and those words as ever ring true
Those who dropp bombs on distant cities a part of the Planet destroy
And the words what we do unto others to them more than any apply.
Those who order the bombings of foreign cities may think to themselves it's okay
To destroy a small part of the Planet in a Country from them far away
But we all breathe the same air and the big bombs poison and pollute
And for everyone the price is big when Nature we persecute.
To Mother Nature who feeds us all, mankind cause much offence
And that we damage her by bombing her makes very little sense
And another war is looming if we believe all we hear
But Mother Nature she will survive though mankind may disappear.

War Again
Dont you know we got smart bombs, its a good thing that our bombs are clever.
Dont you know that the smart bombs are so clever, they only kill bad people.
Dont you know though our kids are dumb, we got smart bombs, what a joyous
Thing.
Here we go so lets drink a toast, to those clever bombs, and the men who
Built them.
(chorus)
There they go now, there go all my friends
There they go now, marching off to war again
With their bright flags waving in the wind
There they go now, marching off to war again
Smiling proudly, with their heads in the clouds.
Dont you know this is better than any video friend. its an action movie.
Here we go watch the bad guys get their butts kicked. really makes me feel
Good. here we go watching cnn, the adrenaline rushes through my veins.
Dont you know its a feel good show, electronic bliss. its a video, video...
(chorus)
Arent you glad we got smart bombs, its a damn good thing our bombs are clever
Its a shame that our kids are dumb, but our bombs are smart, what a lucky
Thing now
Dont you know its a feel good show and its suitable for the whole darn family
Come on out everybody shout, give a big salute to our ingenuity
Dont you know this is better than, any video friend, its an action movie...
Here we go, watch the bad guys get their butts kicked, and it makes me feel good.
Dont you know its nintendo, really gets the blood flowing thru my veins now
Dont you know its a feel-good show, electronic bliss, its a video, video
