To Be Alone
When I weep or when I mourn it does not mean
That I have a misfortune of any kind or that my heart is torn
Something undecidedly, unfitting in my mind to plague and to groan
When I sob or when I fret I have not encountered anything bad or mean
Yet to be alone is not in the land of fun
From my shadow I cannot hide, from myself I cannot run
It does not let, it does not fade
This awful, painful, empty, sinking, suffocating, solitary shade
O Sweet Solitude! if I must with you dwell,
Please comfort me among the jumbled heap
Of murky buildings; and stairs to climb on the molding steep
With toiled and jaded throng, people stretched to utmost swell
Long awaited darkness in my heart sinks and falls
Casting shadows, scudding past images on my walls
In this twilight hour in my little room I am alone
And the macabre memories into my vision are drown
Sitting near the sighing goring fireplace
Jumping, dying embers rushing towards my face
With cracking din, this is a serene and peaceful solitude
The whole world seemed detached, introvert and subdued
Everything comes back to haunt me again
your clear picture is so sharp, real and plain
In these shadows of my chamber gloom
You like an angle pass, a silhouette roaming in my room
Half awake and in and out of delirious dreams
Conjuring long forgotten scenes
So strange how the present mingles with the past
Awaken passions and unfulfilled lust
And as they entertained and entwined
They play havoc and sweetly torture my mind
As the embers of sighing furnace burst and fly
So does love converges to terminate and to die
To close my eyes I so much try
Yet your twilight image goes by
All persisting, all in agonishing loom
Like an angle passing through my little room

Like An Angel Passing Through My Room
Long awaited darkness falls
Casting shadows on the walls
In the twilight hour I am alone
Sitting near the fireplace, dying embers warm my face
In this peaceful solitude
All the outside world subdued
Everything comes back to me again
In the gloom
Like an angel passing through my room
Half awake and half in dreams
Seeing long forgotten scenes
So the present runs into the past
Now and then become entwined, playing games within my mind
Like the embers as they die
Love was one prolonged goodbye
And it all comes back to me tonight
In the gloom
Like an angel passing through my room
I close my eyes
And my twilight images go by
All too soon
Like an angel passing through my room

Sonnet VII. To Solitude
O Solitude! if I must with thee dwell,
Let it not be among the jumbled heap
Of murky buildings: climb with me the steep,—
Nature's observatory—whence the dell,
In flowery slopes, its river's crystal swell,
May seem a span; let me thy vigils keep
'Mongst boughs pavilioned, where the deer's swift leap
Startles the wild bee from the foxglove bell.
But though I'll gladly trace these scenes with thee,
Yet the sweet converse of an innocent mind,
Whose words are images of thoughts refined,
Is my soul's pleasure; and it sure must be
Almost the highest bliss of human-kind,
When to thy haunts two kindred spirits flee.

Twilight
I love thee, Twilight! as thy shadows roll,
The calm of evening steals upon my soul,
Sublimely tender, solemnly serene,
Still as the hour, enchanting as the scene.
I love thee, Twilight! for thy gleams impart
Their dear, their dying influence to my heart.
When o'er the harp of thought thy passing wind
Awakens all the music of the mind,
And joy and sorrow, as the spirit burns,
And hope and memory sweep the chords by turns
While contemplation, on seraphic wings,
Mounts with the flame of sacrifice, and sings.
Twilight! I love thee; let thy glooms increase,
Till every feeling, every pulse, is peace.
Slow from the sky the light of day declines,
Clearer within, the dawn of glory shines,
Revealing, in the hour of nature's rest,
A world of wonders in the poet's breast;
Deeper, O Twilight! then thy shadows roll, -
An awful vision opens on my soul.

Drown
Drown, drown
Drown, drown
Drown, drown, suffocating no air, underwater no air
Drown, drown, suffocating no air, underwater no air
And you know that I need you
So give me something I can do
But you just take and rip away, until its over
Ive been waiting for so long
Finally found out what went wrong
Listen closely and you will hear, that it is over, right now
She ties you down, down, down, down, down, down, down
Wasted!!
You made me love you
Drown, drown, suffocating no air, underwater no air
Drown, drown, suffocating no air, underwater no air
Lie your head down thoughts consume
On a blanket in your room
Wraps into fire and comes so clear
Face head over
Drifting out, out into sea
Looking glass, cleared for me
Glancing slowly for some room
To bang a nail solidly through
Its all over cant you see
Ive given you all of me
So scratch until you dig away, all of the venom from your vein
I cant help you, cant you see, that it is over
Dont you know its over, dont you know its over
Drown, drown, suffocating no air, underwater no air
Drown, drown, suffocating no air, underwater no air
Drown, drown, suffocating no air, underwater no air
Drown, drown, suffocating no air, underwater no air
Sacrifice my soul to you
Disappearing in thin air

In My Room
There's a world where I can go and tell my secrets to
In my room, in my room
In this world I lock out all my worries and my fears
In my room, in my room
Do my dreaming and my scheming
Lie awake and pray
Do my crying and my sighing
Laugh at yesterday
Now it's dark and I'm alone
But I won't be afraid
In my room, in my room
In my room, in my room
In my room, in my room

Burning Embers
Fly through the glass of a window pane
fall through the sky feeling the rain
Walk on broken glass your tell-tale heart
Look through the bars of a dirty jail cell
soar to heaven dive to hell
Listen to your tell-tale heart
Setting fires in the ghost twilight
we see you dress we bolt with fright
You see an apparition disappear
Jump to the table, jump up the stairs
stand on the rooftop, looking out through the air
Walk on broken glass your tell-tale heart
Lenore, am I dreaming
How can death keep us apart, mmmm..
Lenore, I see you burning
And I'd walk on burning embers
walk on burning embers
Walk on burning embers your tell-tale heart
Walk on burning embers
walk on burning embers
Walk on burning embers your tell-tale heart
Walk on burning embers
walk on burning embers
Walk on burning embers your tell-tale heart
Heart
heart
Heart
heart
Walk on burning embers
walk on burning embers

Love's Old Sweet Song
Once in the dear dead days beyond recall,
When on the world the mists began to fall,
Out of the dreams that rose in happy throng
Low to our hearts Love sung an old sweet song;
And in the dusk where fell the firelight gleam,
Softly it wove itself into our dream.
Just a song at twilight, when the lights are low,
And the flick'ring shadows softly come and go,
Tho' the heart be weary, sad the day and long,
Still to us at twilight comes Love's old song,
Comes Love's old sweet song.
Even today we hear Love's song of yore,
Deep in our hearts it dwells for evermore
Footsteps may falter, weary grow the way,
Still we can hear it at the close of day,
So till the end, when life's dim shadows fall,
Love will be found the sweetest song of all.
Just a song at twilight, when the lights are low,
And the flick'ring shadows softly come and go,
Tho' the heart be weary, sad the day and long,
Still to us at twilight comes Love's old song,
Comes Love's old sweet song.

A Drowsy Day
THE air is dark, the sky is gray,
The misty shadows come and go,
And here within my dusky room
Each chair looks ghostly in the gloom.
Outside the rain falls cold and slow —
Half-stinging drops, half-blinding spray.
Each slightest sound is magnified,
For drowsy quiet holds her reign;
The burnt stick in the fireplace breaks,
The nodding cat with start awakes,
And then to sleep drops off again,
Unheeding Towser at her side.
I look far out across the lawn,
Where huddled stand the silly sheep;
My work lies idle at my hands,
My thoughts fly out like scattered strands
Of thread, and on the verge of sleep—
Still half awake — I dream and yawn.
What spirits rise before my eyes!
How various of kind and form!
Sweet memories of days long past,
The dreams of youth that could not last,
Each smiling calm, each raging storm,
That swept across my early skies.
Half seen, the bare, gaunt-fingered boughs
Before my window sweep and sway,
And chafe in tortures of unrest.
My chin sinks down upon my breast;
I cannot work on such a day,
But only sit and dream and drowse.

Round Room
My room is round when I lay down, when I wake up it's square
When I go outside it's on a spiral set of stairs
The people that surround me are waiting out there
In a round room they can't find me anywhere
Right angle rooms drive me crazier each day
Put me in a box I know I'm never going to play
Put me in a square room and I won't know what to say
I want a round room at the end of the day
I had an apartment, four corners on the walls
Couldn't eat, couldn't sleep there at all
I want a curve to the place where I stay
I want a round room at the end of the day
If I pass out take me to the round church
Where echoes resound
And my spirit is found
And when I float high
Take my arm and I'll fly you by
The outskirts of town, to a garden that's round
I went to the lighthouse and I liked the view
I looked out the window and I could see you
Put me in a square house and I won't have a clue
I want a round room just to be with you

Twilight Reveries for M' lady Pamela
The daylight fades as twilight falls.
The Magic Hour
when memory recalls
words of power.
Those words which make us recollect
with clarity.
Much more than we expect
so vividly.
That tears unbidden fill our eyes.
The past is gone,
though to our surprise
it lingers on.
As half forgotten memories,
which at this hour.
Come and go as they please.
Sweet and sour.
Entranced by twilight reveries.
Remembering
with surprising ease.
Everything.
Such vivid pictures from the past.
We had forgot,
time had so quickly passed.
Willing or not.
I think perhaps it’s for the best.
That darkness falls
and frees us from the spell
which so enthrals.

The Hand That Rocks The Cradle
Please dont cry
For the ghost and the storm outside
Will not invade this sacred shrine
Nor infiltrate your mind
My life down I shall lie
If the bogey-man should try
To play tricks on your sacred mind
To tease, torment, and tantalise
Wavering shadows loom
A piano plays in an empty room
Therell be blood on the cleaver tonight
And when darknesss lifts and the room is bright
Ill still be by your side
For you are all that matters
And Ill love you to till the day I die
There never need be longing in your eyes
As long as the hand that rocks the cradle is mine
Ceiling shadows shimmy by
And when the wardrobe towers like a beast of prey
Theres sadness in your beautiful eyes
Oh, your untouched, unsoiled, wonderous eyes
My life down I shall lie
Should restless spirits try
To play tricks on your sacred mind
I once had a child, and it saved my life
And I never even asked his name
I just looked into his wondrous eyes
And said : never never never again
And all too soon I did return
Just like a moth to a flame
So rattle my bones all over the stones
Im only a beggar-man whom nobody owns
Oh, see how words as old as sin
Fit me like a glove
Im here and here Ill stay
Together we lie, together we pray
There never need be longing in your eyes
As long as the hand that rocks the cradle is mine
As long as the hand that rocks the cradle is mine
Mine
Climb up on my knee, sonny boy
Although youre only three, sonny boy
Youre - youre mine
And your mother she just never knew
Oh, your mother ...
As long ... as long ... as long
I did my best for her
I did my best for her
As long ... as long ... as long as ... as long
I did my best for her
I did my best for her
Oh ...

Love oscillations
We knew the flames of fire; we heard desirer's roar
When our love’s inferno to its heights soars
Not once, nor twice we tried from each other to flee
Yet we were swept again by our love as by a vexed foaming sea
To its steep depth, to its sweet pains
Engulfed, from our love’s locks escape was in vain
This chamber where I now dwell
Still bare the sweet memories of love’s hell
Dappling grace, of more glorious days we knew
The trace of sweet storm that passed without anew
Here nothing is like it was so clear
Nor like it felt when you were here
Elusive pictures, shadows glooms, pale reflection
Of yours haunt me, mock my heart’s devastation
Yes, nothing is like it was, and what was
Follows no clues, it obeys no laws
It does not resemble what happens now, what carries on
In my life, the living of love’s deserted pawn
My dear love, my sweet witch
You are unique in my world, out of my reach
From dawn till dusk
About your being I wonder and I ask
Still love you dear, love you more
Than ever before
I know, as I knew, all your secrets, all your lies
Your beguiles, your deceits, your disguise
Yet their traps I failed to avoid
Your charm my vision, my sanity cloyed
The tormenting madness of forbidden love’s cage
Rapture great, zeal of sighing sweet, suffocating rage
And yet in the dark of cold nights
Other knights had bestowed your flesh with satiety
Of fresh lust’s variety
Upon the diminishing light of a rusted lamp
They left you lying jaded sweat in a bed lump
Time goes on, singing its own mourning themes
And each day is like a dagger, each moment like a scream
That never departs the throat
As it usually does, as it always aught
How can I tell our love that was but a flower?
Now turned into swamp of boiling sour
For now I know the danger of lover’s trap
When it tempts us to lull in its perilous lap
If after all these decaying years
There are left for me few dangling tears
My heart will less explode, if you would cry
I have within me this caution of a lie
My dear love, my sweet dove
You are unique in my world, out of my love
From dawn till dusk
About your being I wonder and I ask
Still love you dear, love you more
Than ever before
So it will go on, and so it will be
As long and as far mine eyes can see

Anticipation
'Coming events cast their shadow before.'
I had a vision in the summer light—
Sorrow was in it, and my inward sight
Ached with sad images. The touch of tears
Gushed down my cheeks:—the figured woes of years
Casting their shadows across sunny hours.
Oh, there was nothing sorrowful in flowers
Wooing the glances of an April sun,
Or apple blossoms opening one by one
Their crimson bosoms—or the twittered words
And warbled sentences of merry birds;—
Or the small glitter and the humming wings
Of golden flies and many colored things—
Oh, these were nothing sad—nor to see Her,
Sitting beneath the comfortable stir
Of early leaves—casting the playful grace
Of moving shadows in so fair a face—
Nor in her brow serene—nor in the love
Of her mild eyes drinking the light above
With a long thirst—nor in her gentle smile—
Nor in her hand that shone blood-red the while
She raised it in the sun. All these were dear
To heart and eye—but an invisible fear
Shook in the trees and chilled upon the air,
And if one spot was laughing brightest—there
My soul most sank and darkened in despair!—
As if the shadows of a curtained room
Haunted me in the sun—as if the bloom
Of early flow'rets had no sweets for me,
Nor apple blossoms any blush to see—
As if the hour had brought too bright a day—
And little birds were all too gay!—too gay!—
As if the beauty of that Lovely One
Were all a fable.—Full before the sun
Stood Death and cast a shadow long before,
Like a dark pall enshrouding her all o'er,
Till eyes, and lips, and smiles, were all no more!

And So, Retire
The twilight comes slowly,
Almost unnoticeable
and weary limbs sink thankful to the chair.
Another day over, and in for the night.
The fire flickers like a memory
of summers past
and passions turned to ashes.
The mirror lies, perhaps - but only to the young
and no frosted glass or gloss can hide
the hair that fades with her desire
or the blush
that fades from in his heart.
The evening lulls into familiar deja vu
and he etches a map of routine
across his face and she feeds the fire like a child
or a past that could be born again
rising from the grey with golden plumage,
sweetly serenading;
a courtship, condemned to life.
And so, retire;
to bed, one fuller than before, and softer
where the sorceress revives her potions
and the hero slays the boar and sets the tools for morning,
dancing to the tune stuck in their head
and the dying embers fade into the night
and spread their comfort blanket on the hearth,
eiderdown and silk, perfect as the day they came.
And hearts beat steady, safe and sound within the knowledge
that nothing fresh could come between,
no new notes could now upset the ballad
straining through her heart
She sings, as darkness falls upon the day, no matter,
life goes on
Come romance, sunshine, rain or sun,
Oh, how
life goes on
And on
And on
And on.

In the Shadows of Darkness
In the dark bleak nights.
And the roaming shadows.
When the voices speak to me.
I no it can all bring me to my knees.
It could all be the end of me.
If it wanted to be.
I shall fight another night and day.
I see the shadows
A figure of a man.
Are these real
Or is it just in my head.
In the crisp cold of the night.
In a room 101
Im stuck in my room 101.
Shadows loom at night
Like a witch flying on a broom.
Waking me with a sudden fright.
Not in the mornig light.
In my darkest hour
They will huant me.
They can make me suffer.
They want the end of me.
tuff shit they aint getting it.
In the dakness of shadows.
My fears are relived.
I can beat this.
I must beat it.

Idler's Song
I sit in the twilight dim
At the close of an idle day,
And I list to the soft sweet hymn,
That rises far away,
And dies on the evening air.
Oh, all day long,
They sing their song,
Who toil in the valley there.
But never a song sing I,
Sitting with folded hands,
The hours pass me by -
Dropping their golden sands -
And I list, from day to day,
To the 'tick, tick, tock'
Of the old brown clock,
Ticking my life away.
And I see the twilight fade,
And I see the night come on,
And then, in the gloom and shade,
I weep for the day that's gone -
Weep and wail in pain,
For the misspent day
That has flown away,
And will not come again.
Another morning beams,
And I forget the last,
And I sit in idle dreams
Till the day over - past.
Oh, the toiler's heart is glad!
When the day is gone
And the night comes on,
But mine is sore and sad.
For I dare not look behind!
No shining, golden sheaves
Can I ever hope to find:
Nothing but withered leaves.
Ah! dreams are very sweet!
But will not please
If only these
I lay at the Master's feet.
And what will the Master say
To dreams and nothing more?
Oh, idler, all the day!
Think, ere thy life is o'er!
And when the day grows late,
Oh, soul of sin!
Will He let you in,
There at the pearly gate?
Oh, idle heart, beware!
On, to the field of strife!
On, to the valley there!
And live a useful life!
Up, do not wait a day!
For the old brown clock,
With its 'tick, tick, tock, '
Is ticking your life away.
