For, ...whom I know not
When I’m with you
And you, with me
In that fleeting wink
The world assumes
A different hue
Me, no longer
What I’ve known
Myself to be…
The inner eye opens
And in that piercing light
I see my soul float in the air
A white feather
A snow flake
A transparent rain drop
Wait…
In that all engrossing silence
A distant melody that drew
The women of brindavan
To the elusive Krishna
Caresses me traveling
On the ripples of the silent yamuna
I’m everywhere
I’m nowhere
I transform into power personified…

Of rains and ruins
She sat on the window sill
Till the light was stolen
The dark sky looming above
Knew no respite
From morn to eve
She wept and wept
Tears flooding the earth
No trace of father
Did the little girl discern
There she slept all by herself
Mother’s cajoling words
To no avail...
The rain today stole
A naughty child’s soul
Wile the Yamuna swerved
From her comely course

Before The Cask of Wine
The spring wind comes from the east and quickly passes,
Leaving faint ripples in the wine of the golden bowl.
The flowers fall, flake after flake, myriads together.
You, pretty girl, wine-flushed,
Your rosy face is rosier still.
How long may the peach and plum trees flower
By the green-painted house?
The fleeting light deceives man,
Brings soon the stumbling age.
Rise and dance
In the westering sun
While the urge of youthful years is yet unsubdued!
What avails to lament after one's hair has turned white
like silken threads?
Winter is Just A Snowflake
melting snow
flake disappear
a long time before
it touch
Mother Earth-
touching only
another snow
flake communicate
a sense of beauty
so beautiful
their silence
is the snow-

Radha is still lucky
Radha, you are not lucky
To be a mono love of Krishna.
Radha, you are not lucky
To be the consort of Krishna,
When he went to Mathura
Having left you on Yamuna.
Radha, you are not lucky
To bear his seed in any way.
Radha, you are still lucky
As you had him bodily.
We, the women born since you,
Loved him more than you,
But not corporally,
And yet in fantasy,
As if we were loved
Back by Krishna as well.
Radha, we envy you.
Radha, we modal on you too.

Snow
Down out of heaven,
Frost-kissed
And wind driven,
Flake upon flake,
Over forest and lake,
Cometh the snow.
Folding the forest,
Folding the farms,
In a mantle of white;
And the river’s great arms,
Kissed by the chill night
From clamor to rest,
Lie all white and shrouded
Upon the world’s breast.
Falling so slowly
Down from above,
So white, hushed, and holy,
Folding the city
Like the great pity
Of God in His love; 20
Sent down out of heaven
On its sorrow and crime,
Blotting them, folding them
Under its rime.
Fluttering, rustling,
Soft as a breath,
The whisper of leaves,
The low pinions of death,
Or the voice of the dawning,
When day has its birth,
Is the music of silence
It makes to the earth.
Thus down out of heaven,
Frost-kissed
And wind driven,
Flake upon flake,
Over forest and lake,
Cometh the snow.

Looking East
Standing in the ocean with the sun burning low in the west
Like a fire in the cavernous darkness at the heart of the beast
With my beliefs and possessions, stopped at the frontier in my chest
At the edge of my country, my back to the sea, looking east
Where the search for the truth is conducted with a wink and a nod
And where power and position are equated with the grace of god
These times are famine for the soul while for the senses its a feast
From the edge of my country, as far as you see, looking east
Hunger in the midnight, hunger at the stroke of noon
Hunger in the mansion, hunger in the rented room
Hunger on the tv, hunger on the printed page
And theres a god-sized hunger underneath the laughing and the rage
In the absence of light
And the deepening night
Where I wait for the sun
Looking east
How long have I left my mind to the powers that be?
How long will it take to find the higher power moving in me?
Power in the insect
Power in the sea
Power in the snow falling silently
Power in the blossom
Power in the stone
Power in the song being sung alone
Power in the wheatfield
Power in the rain
Power in the sunlight and the hurricane
Power in the silence
Power in the flame
Power in the sound of the lovers name
The power of the sunrise and the power of a prayer released
On the edge of my country, I pray for the ones with the least
Hunger in the midnight, hunger at the stroke of noon
Hunger in the banquet, hunger in the bride and groom
Hunger on the tv, hunger on the printed page
And theres a god-sized hunger underneath the questions of the age
And an absence of light
In the deepening night
Where I wait for the sun
Looking east

Cold Silence
The silence of the night
is the winters delight
snow that muffles the sounds
are billions of snow flakes
compacting down.
See that snow flake coming down
I will catch it on my tongue
and it will dissapear, melting
and it will be done.
The beauty of a single snow flake
as you can see, under a microscope
is unique as you'll agree
Not two are alike nope there will never be
another as unique like, you or me.

A Poem to the Master
I get turned
Into a clean slate
The only movement
Discernible in that clean state
Is the silent gathering
Of throatful of tears
Raving to flow
Out to bathe
Me and 'me.'
Allow this vibrant
Fleeting wink of time
Be my light
My rhythm
My melody
Tuned by you,
My Master!

Sri Krishna
Long ago when Lord Vishnu took a new form
In order to restore Faith and Goodness on Earth
At midnight, in Mathura it was raining with thunderstorm
Devaki and Vasudev were overjoyed with their son Krishna's birth
Vasudev left infant Krishna in Gokul, at Yashoda and Nand's home
Cute and charming baby Krishna loved to play, run around and eat butter
Every prank of Krishna was talk of the town, Legends to become
Boy Krishna conquered serpent Kalinga, saved friends and Yamuna river
Kansa, Krishna's Uncle tried to kill Krishna, Krishna escaped his every ploy
All the damsels of Vrindavan, surround handsome Krishna, with adoration
Whenever Krishna played flute for his cows, every one would sway with joy
Radha the Lucky one, the Love she had, got her Krishna's adoration
Krishna freed his parents, Guided and Lead Arjuna, a win over his Kingdom
Krishna has a mesmerising and enchanting Persona and Presence
His Preachings 'Bhagavad Gita' enlightens our souls, ' Pearls of Wisdom '
Krishna lives in every heart that has Faith as the Divine essence.

The Yamuna Suits All
Banks of the Yamuna,
Where Lord Krishna romanced
With Rdha and companions,
Are, where stands the mousalam
Of Mumtaz Mahal built
For the queen from ardent love.
The Yamuna River resonates with love
And suits lovers of all walks.

Thanks God You Gave Me Too Much
Drop wrapped wet
Cloudward driven I swelled
The cloud drew the shape
It drew the shape of my heart
Bird kissed meek
Feather light touch
The rain spell fell
And drummed in joy
It drummed the beat of my heart
So little I have to give I thought
Thanks God you gave me too much

The Warmth of Snow
A snow flake is so complex, yet soft enough to enhance romance.
No flake is like another, neither is a friend or a lover.
The gentle falling of snow makes me think of home,
where I find warmth and cheer, and happiness flow.
A warm heart and cold toes, come next to me, and snuggle close.
I love you now and forever more, as we wait for more snow flakes to fall.

Song Of The Evergreens
Listen to the briskly whistling winter evergreen
Whispering through the frozen morning light
And tell me whats to come
Saying my time is near
Never fear
I close each year
Im winter
Reminding me to trade my t-shirts for my woven wools
Trade my sandals for my skis
Whispered warnings in the wind
Saying soon come the dancing snowflakes
Theyre kissing every tree
Theyre kissing you and me
Please hurry
Falling
Dazzling dancing diamonds from the sky
Prisms
Rainbow sparkled flurries in our eyes
Whipping across the frozen crystal meadow
Pond of ice
Race the snow
Well build a warming fire there
And cuddle close and wine and dine
The setting sun
The morning light will find us high
Shooting down the glistening mountain side
Screaming through the whispering pines
The freedom of each day
Will cleanse our minds
I can hardly wait for winter
I can hardly wait for the snow
I can hardly hardly wait for winter
I can hardly wait for the snow
Snow snow snow snow snow snow snow snow
Snow snow snow snow snow snow snow snow
Snow snow snow snow snow snow snow snow
Snow snow snow snow snow snow snow snow
Snow snow snow snow snow snow snow snow
Snow snow snow snow snow snow snow snow
Snow snow snow snow snow snow snow snow
Snow snow snow snow snow snow snow snow
Snow snow snow snow snow snow snow snow
Snow snow snow snow snow snow snow snow

A Snowy Day
I sense an unfamiliar brightness, and very soon, I'm awake.
I go to my window, which is covered with tiny snowflakes.
As far as the eye can see, there's a carpet of pure white:
It's a magnificent and beautiful, but still rather rare, sight.
People pull on their patterned, designer, Wellington boots;
Icy footprints in the snow, mark out the well trodden routes.
Children play in the snow and build a snowman;
They build him up as tall, as they possibly can.
Everything looks so very different when covered by snow;
Suddenly, you're not too sure where your feet should now go.
I love to walk through the parts, where snow is undisturbed;
Even though I now can no longer tell the road from the curb.
There is now a real lack of distinguishing features,
And a noticeable absence of warm-blooded creatures.
In the sunshine, the snow, like tiny diamonds, glints;
Its delicate surface now peppered with animal prints.
The coldness makes folks' cheeks all pink and rosy.
Most stay inside, where they are all nice and cosy.
Children on a sledge whiz down a long, steep hill;
They seem to know no fear and have nerves of steel.
Wheels on vehicles suddenly now slide and slip;
Road surfaces, they suddenly can no longer grip.
On busier routes, the snow soon turns to sludgy slush.
In this weather, not a single soul would dare to rush.
Some folk hope that, of the snow, there'll be no more,
And hope that this carpet of white, will, very soon, thaw.
When I look out of my bedroom window that same night,
I notice that the world around me still seems quite light.
Over the next couple of days, the snow turns to ice;
It now is all discoloured, and doesn't look so nice.
Finally, we have a whole day of really heavy rain,
And, of the snow, not a single flake now remains.

World of Snow.
Snow falls, creating blankets on the ground.
Everything is white, a world of snow.
I look into the sky with my eyes, yet now snow is falling.
I look into my heart, it is lost in a world of snow.
It is frozen, in a shell of ice,
and lost, in a world of white.
My prince, won't you come,
And rescue me from this cold?

Travelin' Light
I got no bags of baggage to slow me down
Wll, i'm traveling so fast my feet ain't touching the ground
Traveling light_traveling light_
Well, i just can't wait to be with my baby tonight
No comb and tooth brush
I got nothing to haul
I'm carrying only
A pocketful of dreams a heat full of love
And they weight nothing at all
Soon, i'm gonna see that love look in her eyes
I'm a hoot and a holler away from paradise
Traveling light
Traveling light
Well, i just can't wait to be with my baby tonight

Gokul (Cascade poem-named for its cascading effect. It uses refrains of the first stanza-lines
The Cascade form has no rhyme scheme.
Gokul
Cascading events marched in the dark
Tenebrous war of lightnings flashed
Crossing Yamuna Vasudev fled
Gokul sprang prattling Krishna, Krishna
It was Kamsa the tyrant tortured
Feared of Devaki's child to kill him
He began killing each new born babe
Cascading events marched in the dark
Mathura grew dreadful by Kamsa
People were terrified and threatened
So alike Krishna's parents were jailed
Tenebrous war of lightnings flashed
Watching their babies being slaughtered
They prayed atleast their eighth child be saved
Dream-blessed they were guided by Lord's words
Crossing Yamuna Vasudev fled
With the divine babe in his hands up
Guarded by Adhisesha he walked
Through godly night showers to Gokul
Gokul sprang prattling Krishna, Krishna
