A Poem That Morphed Me

Charcoal black the sky
Tickling the breeze.

I morph into
A fragile rain-drop
I morph into
A delicate sapling

and
I morph into
A dancing peacock

Let Us Speak Of Light And Colors

Let us speak of light and colors
Of ephemeral hues and strident tones
Of luminescence that commands
One's eyes to observe it

Of cobalt blues that morph into ashen grey
That in turn then steals away
Into black…
Soft and sensual as velvet

A Hint At What Is Beautiful

poetry in progress

the mouth is the living soul
in an eden of ivory towers
the heart the seat of God
there the rules are laid out
the tongue is the spineless
that can morph into a devil
at the convenience of the dweller

a heart tells no lies
it is the seat of God
and there is the beauty of
beauties, purest of spirit
a chalice filled to the brim
with answers to a million
years of yearnings, for all
the years with an equal number
of ungalvanised answers
if you care to search for its
sacred hints at what is beauty

beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder
and the heart tells no lies
it is the mouth that in all its
clean ivory innocence may morph
into a snake in its own eden

the heart tells no lies
it speaks as soon to its owner
of any intransigence so that he goes
to sleep heavy like adam after his fall,
poorer in the soul and tears brimming all over

The brain is a stage for words

words are alive as our grey matter
the brain affords a stage they play out
their full splendour
taking on new clothes, new shades,
little lava morph into butterflies and
flutter their way into our poetic realm

Rokeby Venus (ekphrasis) by J.K. de Quiroz

I could only but wonder
what hands carved your ardent curves.
The young seraph hides its tower
upon seeing you.

How I wish you would at least
turn to look at me
or that Cupid
move the mirror to the left.

The mirror spells envy
to every other breathing woman
as you look at it.

How I sometimes wish
I were a god that could morph
into a mirror myself.

Ovid

Troubled
I am troubled
by words
troubled
I never sleep

Learning the local language
I morph into Ovid
and compose an epic poem
no one will ever read
leaving glass sentences
with too much nakedness
scattered all over the floor
like jewels

Sadness oozing out

Explorations: V

Many a time
You morph into
A smile on my lips

Many a time
You flow as tears
On my cheeks

Why this joy or sorrow
When my smiles or tears
Fail to touch you?

Isn't that greater sorrow
Unnoticed and lost
In the routine melee...?

Choking

Like a quivering leaf climbing
unreachable thighs of a cloud
in naked shelter of sun.

I lament the fall
of a colossus
who would not live in a glass house.

Ash smeared on face
a name walks on the book
of barefoot poems.

Today I am going to morph
into a death sentence
for an uncommitted crime.

Who had lost himself
in unslept awakening
of a disaster?

Death

Death whispered to me
warned me, informed me,
let me know I was mortal
and yet____

it seems, my life's a dream
and dreams, they come and go,
drift in and out,
morph into other realms.

Death touched me yesterday,
took you in its clutches,
whisked you away
to an afterworld

but your photo still smiles
your essence still glows
and I saw you in my dreams
so now I know,

someday, one day,
maybe,
if dreams are true,
everyone gets to meet again.

So Close, So Far

You said they’d never change you
You said they’d never morph you to their own
You said you’d never be a strategy
You said destiny didn’t apply to you
Yet there you lay
Consumed by fate
The moon of your desire
Casts an Eclipse on the
Sunshine of your hate
Overwhelming emotions
Sometimes for the better
Sometimes for the worst
A drawn door
Big enough to let pain leak out
In a river of red
Black your eyes blind
Clothe yourself invisible
They’ll still break into your thoughts
And pull for information
Funny how you thought I loved you
Funny how you thought we’d last
Funny how you heard me screaming
And left me there to die
But now you want me
And now I’m gone
But you’ll be waiting
Not far from the trigger
Because the razor isn’t enough anymore
Don’t think I don’t know that
Because when you’re done that gun is mine
So go ahead and dig my grave
And I’ll dig yours
And we can die together
So far apart

The Beau's Hunting

The sun seared the fine fringes
Of their shadows, a smoke transpired
They were burning an inferno
To thaw the thinning ice below
The swaying of their wobbly soles
The frost bit and sense was bereaved
Behind the intoxicated blear
They fell, but to where?
In the carnage of ephemeral Sundays?
Or in the concealed demons to lambaste?
Should I alert the armory?
Or should I pry harder?
Into the nights of the hunters
And learn the hunger game they play
And eloquently morph into an answer
For holes and questions
In the chest of veracity.

If only i could tell you

If i can only tell you
that nothing is alright at all
that i hear things inside my head
distracting me from the right and leading me towards the wrong
that paranoia follows me like a swarm of locusts
i need all eyes on me at all time
i can change and morph and blend like a chameleon
but the memories are a pack of thirsty beasts
hunting me and ripping my bones a strew in the middle of the night
sometimes i can forget like amnesia
but one fault just triggers a waterfall of destruction
i cannot forget forever but i cannot always recall
of what it is about that memory
that makes me want to end all animation of my existence

Duet with a Peony

A dark red peony
Darker red than
The crown of a rooster
Swollen with pride
Stood on the grand piano

The petals fall
On the black and white ivories
I hear a quiet pianissimo tone
A haunting sense of emptiness
Soft and mysterious

Constant change of mood
The last piece of satin red petal
With hint of jazz
Morph into a smooth abscission
Like a saxophonist flirting the soft piano

I close my eyes
Red petals bursting up the piano keys
Like fireworks, a fleeting dream
Dazzling array of pianistic explosions
And me, duet with a dark red peony

Stoned

It was a mid night knock.
A cloud laden sky
had sent a message.

The moon was trembling
like a collateral pain
in the blue.

I had not slept the night,
if I could bleed.
A toddler had drowned head-on

in a half-filled bucket
and some rodents had sheared
away the toes and ears of a sick child.

You give me hurts, for glassy eyes.
The claws on my neck,
I can hardly breathe.

The severed paws and intact canines
of a skull morph into a roaring beast.
There is no water in my eyes.

Nightmare Raven

A Raven perches on the branch
and stares into my window
watches me sleep
watches me dream
Mr.Raven why do you watch me?
when you're around
my skin goes cold
and my dreams morph into nightmares
I dream of one's I've lost
and that I'm losing them again
stabbed in the heart
running up an endless street
I try to scream
but I am mute
I'm alone
Mr.Raven why do you effect me so?
do you wish to frighten me?
I will sleep during the day
and wander at night as you do
If that is your wish
Mr.Raven leave me be
go back to the shoulder of Death
disappear from my sight

Symbolic Stanzas' Sonnet Celebration response to Marion Mantel - The Painter

Pure poet imbibes artist's brush
creation's canvas celebrates
colour pigmentations' crush
inspires lyres' songs innate.

The timeless tides of metaphors
take form from morph hue cues,
as soul's semantice semaphore
signals sends, imbues.

Symphonic stanzas canvas caught
showers sublime compound,
symbolize synaptic thought
round watershed surround.

There none need karmic quest, request:
act/fact of being's freeing rest.

I am a snake

i have taken
lessons from snakes
and learnt wisdom
to morph from
an old wearied woman
to a fine spinster
everybody would turn
their heads as i beat out a dance
slithering my way to their hearts
without even their knowledge
i have taken lessons in life
from the snakes
the devil reincarnated though
all the fraggled parts of my life
the wrinkled skin of my soul
i follow the snake as it
morphs from old to young
and young to old
and old to young again
living a hundred years
parting the old self
for the new
every now and then
all my sorrows
now you see them in
the shedded skin
along the downtrodden paths
nobody cares to take a look
i never,
you should not too

Inconsistencies

I loathe inconsistenties-
In food, in plans that change on a sudden,
Of people who morph their minds regarding itineraries.
I must be grounded in foregone conclusions
Or anxiety is disquieting: OCD.
I think like a game of Chinese Checkers,
Round and round moving solidly,
A direction premeasured.

So when you give me instructions,
And then they change,
My hair needs pulling.
Thus life is torture, throwing
Curveballs at which I swing and miss.
Another good reason to repudiate rhyme,
The disease of rhyme.
I must write this stuff freely,
Even disregarding iambic pentameter,
Which is inconsistent.
But I emulate Will Shakespeare,
For his tragedy alone
By which I set my watch.
