Under His Umbrella
He carries a
large
umbrella
providing
protection
from the
storms
of life.
with heartfelt
emotions.
caring for the
people
as if they
were
children.
as the rain
begins
they hover
under
his umbrella..

Umbrella Man
When the sun just refuses to shine on through
And its cats and doggies all over you
You need some protection so what do you do
See the umbrella man
Go and see the umbrella man
When its raining - umbrella man, umbrella man
You can see him when its sunny, when the rain comes down
You ought to find a corner where hes always found
A reflection in a puddle, just turn around
To see the umbrella man
Go and see the umbrella man
When its raining - umbrella man, umbrella man
There are some things in life on which you can depend
Dont try to guess when itll rain again
You dont have to worry cause youve got a friend
Come see the umbrella man
I will be your umbrella man
When its raining - umbrella man
Go and see the umbrella man
Dont forget the umbrella man
When its raining - umbrella man
I will be your umbrella man, umbrella man

Ode to the Umbrella
what inspired this poem
is mary poppins, the caring
British governor who carries
under her little pink umbrella
her warmth and the creme
de la creme of life lessons
and flies children into
home sweet home
every umbrella it has
become a metaphor to
carry off that great task
to make children laugh
warm and hearty as the
summer sky
japanese and chinese
traditional lacquered umbrellas
do that job come rain or shine
they always carry the herons,
phoenix, a beauteous ancient fairy
in her flowing grace, or bamboos,
or the moon or any other folksy
auspicious drawings to drive
away tears or fears
even the emperor needs
umbrella for graces from the heavens
it was of first quality silk
yellow, and always with lithe
and steel scaled dragons
to shield him from misfortune
of any kind
the modern day umbrellas
they are collapsible, of plastic,
rayon, and usually plain
black, green, blue, purple
every colour given its
opportunity to shine
their job is carry away the sky
when it is not friendly, letting her
sun all out in the open
or giving her clouds so much
freedom they let out cats and dogs
leaping and gambolling into our gardens
the best umbrellas are
those large enough to
keep two star crossed lovers
away from the sights of gossipers
letting them kiss and only their
legs and clothes to keep us
guessing who they are
the umbrella too can be
that life saver, keeping away
the muggers, or that fierce dog
as old granny does her morning
round to tone up her days

Bus Stop
The Hollies
Bus Stop
(Written by Graham Gouldman of 10CC)
Single release 1966
Bus stop, wet day, she's there, I say
"please share my umbrella."
On bus stop, bus goes, she stays, love grows
under my umbrella.
All that summer we enjoyed it, wind and rain and shine.
That umbrella we employed it, by august she was mine.
Ev'ry mornin' I would see her waiting at the stop
sometimes she'd shop
and she would show me what she'd bought.
All the people stared as if we were both quite insane.
Some day my name and hers are going to be the same.
That's the way the whole thing started, silly, but it's true.
I'm thinking of a sweet romance beginning in a queue.
Came the sun, the ice was melting, no more sheltering now.
Nice to think that that umbrella led me to a vow.
{interlude}
Ev'ry mornin' I would see her waiting at the stop
sometimes she'd shop
and she would show me what she'd bought.
All the people stared as if we were both quite insane.
Some day my name and hers are going to be the same.
Bus stop, wet day, she's there, I say
"please share my umbrella."
Bus stop, bus goes, she stays, love grows
under my umbrella.
All that summer we enjoyed it, wind and rain and shine.
That umbrella we employed it, by august she was mine.
{interlude fades out}

My Umbrella
With the gray clouds
Forming, I grab my umbrella
I have no idea
About how bad it will be
If it will be drizzing
Or if it will be pouring
Whatever the case maybe
I have my umbrella with me
Rain, sleet, snow, or shine
I know that I will be fine
That's how I feel
About our Lord
He's my umbrella
He is right above my head
He protects me
During anytime
Or kind of weather
So even if I get
A little wet
I know God will protect
He will handle it
For He's always with me
No matter how stormy
The weather
God will always make it
Better
Because we walk together

I'm The Umbrella Man
I'M THE UMBRELLA MAN
DANCING IN THE RAIN
WITH NO WORRIES AND NO HURRIES
JUST FEELING THE FREEDOM OF BEING FREE
SO WON'T YOU PLEASE DANCE WITH ME
I'M THE UMBRELLA MAN
DANCING IN THE RAIN
PLEASE DON'T TRY TO UNDERSTAND
JUST TAKE MY HAND
AND DANCE WITH ME
FEEL THE FREEDOM OF BEING FREE
UNDERNEATH MY UMBRELLA WITH ME
SO WON'T YOU PLEASE
JUST DANCE WITH ME

Umbrella Song
On the poor side of town, lives a girl no one knows
With her worn out shoes and her ragged clothes
Her mother tries to provide since her father has died
But no one even cares if shes alive
And when the rain comes down
Shes never getting wet
And though the skies are gray
Shell still be smiling yet
Cause in her eyes theres no teardrops
In her heart theres no pain
Shes got her love as an umbrella from the rain
Oh, what love is an umbrella from the rain
On the rich side of town, lives a boy no one knows
With his shiny shoes and his fancy clothes
Hes got everything he needs if he wants to succeed
But no one even cares if hes alive
And when the rain comes down
Hes never getting wet
And though the skies are gray
Hell still be smiling yet
Cause in his eyes theres no teardrops
In his heart theres no pain
Hes got his love as an umbrella from the rain
Oh, his love is an umbrella from the rain
Isnt life feeling strange and money cant buy
All you need to get by
All around the world, there are folks no one knows
If theyre worn out shoes, their fancy clothes
Will they find more there to give for and open the door
To know that someone cares if theyre alive
And when the rain comes down
Were never getting wet
And though the skies are gray
Well still be smiling yet
Cause in our eyes theres no teardrops
In our hearts theres no pain
Weve got a love as an umbrella from the rain
Oh, our love is an umbrella from the rain
And when the rain comes down
Were never getting wet
And though the skies are gray
Well still be smiling yet
(repeat 4x to fade)

Umbrella
Today is the day you will shine.
There will be a little rain though,
But don't worry I will protect you by being your umbrella.
No go off and light up the world.
Always remember, I am only one click away from being your cover,
Like an umbrella.

My Umbrella
Walking through the rain with my umbrella,
Nice and lovely to swing with the muse of love;
And it is like the joy of things with my lover,
But i am protected under this umbrella.

Wet Nurse
She came with an umbrella
but there is no rain at all.
My lonely heart is longing for a shelter
and she gave me the umbrella.
She left without a word in midnight
and the incessant rain started.
Thunder and lightning all over the sky
and my heart laments for her.

when it rains
you worry none
for you always
bring the umbrella
with you
there are those who
brave the rain
and will not open
an umbrella to
show their
dissent
they are those
whom you call different
for unlike you
you studied well the laws
of comfort
and subservience
not minding the
ways of the
abusive Rain
the faulty Canals
the acidity of the clime
the foulness of
the Ruins.

Tarantella with an Umbrella during the Drought - Parody Hilaire BELLOC – Tarantella
Do you remember the rain, Umbrella,
Do you remember the rain?
And the wedding when outspreading
all your spokes were poked when heading
off the drops which wet the bedding -
so upsetting was that wetting!
Now no breeze in the trees of the dry Pyrennees,
And the Alps aren’t any better, -
No, neither are they wetter!
Where are storms once we cursed near and far,
and the rain drained from pane with a ceaseless refrain
under cloud sky with no star?
Do you rememer the rain, umbrella,
Do you remember its reign?
Then the pane would complain in both city and plain
of the strain, while again and again
the relentless pitter-patter,
while the winds all the blossoms did scatter.
Where’s the thunder now? What is the matter?
When the rain leaked within, what a din out and in!
and the pit-a-pat on the mat
with all hands to the thermostat
when the lightning that
was advancing, chancing, dancing, clancing,
flashing fer-de-lancing,
and the sing-song moan which ajar
set the door swinging far, -
only the strain does remain where once rain leaked amain
causing pain, flooding Seine - drought’s a bane!
Do you remember the rain, umbrella,
do you remember the rain?
Dusty the twirl of the swirl, whats to blame? all exclaim!
Is it Tchernobyl fame as some claim?
Climate change danger, strange insects range? Sunspot flame?
Or the ozone scare drying the air everywhere?
When the name of the game drought can claim, what a shame!
Never more, Umbrella,
Never more will it pour where before
the torrent so proudly would roar.
No sound where the sound’s now dry ground, and no boom,
No Waterfall, dust to dust covers all - ‘tis Man’s doom...

Any fool carries an umbrella on a wet day, but the wise man carries it every day.
To Different People
it is about to rain
the clouds are dark and heavy
along the road
two people are quarreling
about their having forgotten
the umbrella
the goat is tied on the tree
and the cow is looking
for escape
when the rain falls
the driver of the car that got
stuck on the canal
is cursing
on the other side
the children are playing and shouting
they all love
the first rain of summer

Today is a rainy day
today is a rainy day
I love it always want to say
dont murder it under umbrella
just let the soft part of world dropping on every face and wall
im wearing a raindropp im clean in the rain
I see my breath blowing in the rain fire in the rain
today is a rainy night
I close my eyes always want to fly
dont whisper it under umbrella
just forget the sounds of silence telling it to me loudly and clear
im kissing a raindropp im loved in the rain
I pray my soul saved in the rain rise in the rain
today is a rainy day
tonight you are a rainy night
The Umbrella
Proud Sun shows its true colors these days
And it's pretty warm.
I walk under an umbrella and it gives me the shade.
I do not know how could I repay you for your faithful service?
When rain comes I promise you to take out definitely for all my debts.
But it's very difficult to keep promises when a poor vagabond walks in illusions.
Anyway you are my survivor till the journey's end.
What do you prefer my friend if I call you umbrella or parasol?

A Red Motorcycle With Least Meaning
it is raining.
this is the first rain for the month of June
in Katipunan
i sit facing a screen
i press words
i look through a glass window
much older than my being here,
out there
the mango tree is heavy with its fruits
under its shade is
a red motorcycle beside a hollow block fence
which separates a dilapidated house
from the public market
a woman holds a blue umbrella
walks slowly along the pavement
it is still raining
cats and dogs, and the red motorcycle is wet all over.
it is inanimate and everyone
takes it for granted.
among those that i have enumerated
perhaps it must be the one with the least meaning.
the day is crying
and the woman with the blue umbrella is unaffected.
inside this room
with a glass window as protection
i am sifting
what meaning is there
for this rainy day.

A painted Woman in A Drizzle
Low limbs of the live oak twist
like overlapping black rivers
across the sky.It is easy
to feel lost in the maze
of their convoluted journey
The World is Green Again
-Marjory Wentworth
Normally I do not go out with an umbrella
And it's a drizzle late in the evening
On my way back home from the library.
She smiled and ready to share the umbrella
The silence said in between us.
O the fingernails sharp and beautiful
And I was scared of her adhesive thick red lips
If I attached how could I go back to my beloved?
If not the umbrella her beauty washes
That's certain and her magenta colour transparent skirt
I saw the whole World of innocence!
'Rain seized and she said; Time has come to say Goodbye
And thank you very much for the warmth Grandpa! '
I said; 'It's a pleasure daughter! '
She turned to the upper lane and I used my usual gravel road.
In the darkness I whispered ' That name's already registered in the book of life forever Grandpa! '
