Charmless Man
I met him in a crowded room
Where people go to drink away their gloom
He sat me down and so began
The story of a charmless man
Educated the expensive way
He knows his claret from a beaujolais
I think he'd like to have been Ronnie Kray
But then nature didn't make him that way
He thinks his educated airs those family shares
Will protect him

I don't look to find an educated person in the ranks of university graduates, necessarily. Some of the most educated people I know have never been near a university.

We must not believe the many, who say that only free people ought to be educated, but we should rather believe the philosophers who say that only the educated are free.

There is nothing so stupid as the educated man if you get him off the thing he was educated in.

Women in Africa, generally a lot needs to be done for women. Women are not being educated, not only in Angola but my trip to Nigeria, one point I would make over and over again was that women need to be educated too.

Judge presiding
Judge presiding
~
he sits aloft
looking down well dressed
an educated man
but a man nether the less
he has his own sins
vices, faults
they are left behind
in the changing room
with his casual wear
and coat, for now
he sits there listening
to every detail
every word of evidence
building his picture
of a legal precedent
hoping the jury helps
guide him to a conclusion
that serves the law well
its no easy task
the law is not perfect
but he's been educated
at some expense
to make these decisions
the verdict remains open

Beautiful dream on a beautiful day
Are you what you seem, sweet beaujolais
Oh girl, my heart is slipping away

Tres bon chamlee, ca sont verne
Ma fleur de lis, je taime beaujolais

We are not to give credit to the many, who say that none ought to be educated but the free; but rather to the philosophers, who say that the well-educated alone are free.
Beaujolais
Lead vocal - chris rainbow
No clock beside my bed
Dont try to wake me
No phone upon my wall
Whos going to call
No knock upon my door
No news to shake me
Nights like the one before
I cant take no more
Beaujolais goes straight to my head
Beaujolais puts me to shame
And I dont know why Im in this place or how I came
Beaujolais and I go crazy
Beaujolais I cant explain
But it helps me to forget the past and ease the pain
One race that I cant win
With an alter ego
One chance to sink or swim
What am I to do
One tail that I cant shake
Wherever I go he go
One circuit I cant break
Its a catch twenty two
Beaujolais goes straight to my head
Beaujolais the one to blame
And I dont know why Im in this place or how I came
Beaujolais will be my ruin
Beaujolais I cant complain
Cause it helps me to forget the past and ease the pain

Crowded Room
Across a crowded room
I first set eyes on you
My vision was impaired
Obstructed out of view
By those - faces in a crowded room
Them - bodies in a crowded room
Their - breathing in a crowded room
And their - pushing me out
Down the fire escape
In the crowded room I wont touch too much
I felt the punch of a punch
The language was enough
To send me running etc.

Making Sense
if our choice of words
is smooth and reserved like
a lady educated in a state university
they say we make sense,
if you are rich and flamboyant
and ride in flashy cars and live
in expensive mansions in exclusive
subdivisions, then by all means
you make sense
despite the fact that you are
immoral, and treacherous and
scheming and oppressive and
congenitally lying with your teeth grinning,
to them you still make sense
they still want to be pictured beside you
and you make them your own property
as they all adore and worship you,
i don't.

The Last Of The Famous International Playboys
Dear hero imprisoned
With all the new crimes that you are perfecting
Oh, I cant help quoting you
Because everything that you said rings true
And now in my cell
(well, I followed you)
And heres a list of who I slew
Reggie kray - do you know my name ?
Oh, dont say you dont
Please say you do, (oh) I am :
The last of the famous
International playboys
The last of the famous
International playboys
And in my cell
(well, I loved you)
And every man with a job to do
Ronnie kray - do you know my face ?
Oh, dont say you dont
Please say you do, (oh) I am :
The last of the famous
International playboys
The last of the famous
International playboys
In our lifetime those who kill
The newsworld hands them stardom
And these are the ways
On which I was raised
These are the ways
On which I was raised
I never wanted to kill
I am not naturally evil
Such things I do
Just to make myself
More attractive to you
Have I failed ?
Oh...
Oh, the last of the famous
International playboys
The last of the famous

It is one thing to get educated and another thing to keep educated.
There Was This Man
and there was this man who
blamed himself for not making good
in his life
fortune seems to be elusive
his home shattered by a quake
lest he expected it
his family vanished in the plague
the dumb makes it on top
the mediocre thrives so well as leaders
and the childish makes it to the throne of greatness
others whom he thinks are lower than him made it to fame
he is good and wise and well educated
surely luck was not on his side
or perhaps he did not pray enough....

The Headliner And The Breadliner
Moko, the Educated Ape is here,
The pet of vaudeville, so the posters say,
And every night the gaping people pay
To see him in his panoply appear;
To see him pad his paunch with dainty cheer,
Puff his perfecto, swill champagne, and sway
Just like a gentleman, yet all in play,
Then bow himself off stage with brutish leer.
And as to-night, with noble knowledge crammed,
I 'mid this human compost take my place,
I, once a poet, now so dead and damned,
The woeful tears half freezing on my face:
"O God!" I cry, "let me but take his shape,
Moko's, the Blest, the Educated Ape."
