The Mockery
Sometimes I laugh—what else can a man do
Who does not know ? This little ego here
Braving the void, this fleck upon the blue,
This filmy wing sounding the starry sphere—
What bold abysmal incongruity,
What joke of the gods to make a mock of me !
I hear you sing, and wonder how you dare.
Too fine for song they are—the tint of the rose,
The touch of a child, love's beauty and despair,
All the sad furtive exquisiteness that blows,
Like scent of gardens I may never see,
Across my sense to make a mock of me.
That I, this atom infinitesimal,
This chance-blown seed of flesh and fire, that I
Should front the dread immensity, the all,
Shocking the silence with my futile cry—
What dark inscrutable absurdity,
What joke of the gods to make a mock of me!

Anacreontick I
Gay Bacchus liking Estcourt's Wine,
A noble Meal bespoke;
And for the Guests that were to Dine,
Brought Comus, Love, and Joke.
The God near Cupid drew his Chair,
And Joke near Comus plac'd;
Thus Wine makes Love forget its Care,
And Mirth exalts a Feast.
The more to please the sprightly God,
Each sweet engaging Grace
Put on some Cloaths to come abroad,
And took a Waiters Place.
Then Cupid nam'd at every Glass
A Lady of the Sky;
While Bacchus swore he'd Drink the Lass,
And had it Bumper high.
Fat Comus tost his Brimmers o're,
And always got the most;
For Joke took care to fill him more,
When-e'er he mist the Toast.
They call'd, and drank at every Touch,
Then fill'd, and drank again;
And if the Gods can take too much,
'Tis said, they did so then.
Free Jests run all the Table round,
And with the Wine conspire,
(While they by sly Reflection wound,)
To set their Heads on Fire.
Gay Bacchus little Cupid stung,
By reck'ning his Deceits;
And Cupid mock'd his stammering Tongue,
With all his staggering Gaits.
Joke droll'd on Comus' greedy Ways,
And Tales without a Jest;
While Comus call'd his witty Plays,
But Waggeries at Best.
Such Talk soon set 'em all at Odds;
And, had I Homer's Pen,
I'd sing ye, how they drunk, like Gods,
And how they fought, like Men.
To part the Fray, the Graces fly,
Who make 'em soon agree;
And had the Furies selves been nigh,
They still were Three to Three.
Bacchus appeas'd, rais'd Cupid up,
And gave him back his Bow;
But kept some Darts to stir the Cup,
Where Sack and Sugar flow.
Joke taking Comus' rosie Crown,
In Triumph wore the Prize,
And thrice, in Mirth, he pusht him down,
As thrice he strove to rise.
Then Cupid sought the Myrtle Grove,
Where Venus did recline,
And Beauty close embracing Love,
They join'd to Rail at Wine.
And Comus loudly cursing Wit,
Roll'd off to some Retreat,
Where boon Companions gravely sit,
In fat unweildy State.
Bacchus and Joke, who stay behind,
For one fresh Glass prepare;
They Kiss, and are exceeding kind,
And Vow to be sincere.
But part in Time, whoever hear
This our Instructive Song;
For tho' such Friendships may be dear,
They can't continue long.

I Hate...
I hate the way you make me feel
I hate that you think your always right
I hate that you mock my words
I hate the words you say to me
I hate how you always yell at me
I hate that you don’t take me seriously
I hate that you think every thing's a joke
I hate how you ignore me
I hate how your overdramatic
I hate how it’s only your way or no way
I hate how you don’t believe or trust me
I hate how you don’t give me second chance
I hate that your selfish and so unfair
I hate how you know how to get to me
I hate how you play with my emotions
I hate the way you make me cry
I hate how you make me wish horrible things upon myself
I hate the way you make me feel useless and worthless
And most of all I hate that I love you

No Mocking
Man does not mock a cow or a dog
For it lacks the sixth sense that he’s got.
Man must not mock an idiot likewise
For he hasn’t as much brain as he’s got.

Flesh & Blood
If you never plan to come out of your shell, youre never gonna get well.
I understand your reasons not to.
What you dont know is what youre afraid of.
And Im afraid of it too
But can I even talk to you again?
Oh part of me wants to call you up, and talk to you like a friend.
And theres a part of me that wants to shut you out
And never see your face again.
Chorus:
How can we be like enemies when were only flesh and blood?
What does it take to make your heart bleed, daddy arent we enough?
You can get through theres nothing stopping you from getting to us
No one can take a way the fact that were only...flesh and blood
For years Ive been following your case, its the only time I see your face
And weve learned to live without you.
Who you dont know is who youre afraid of
And were afraid of you too
But will we ever talk to you again?
Oh part of me wants to call you up, just talk to you like a friend
Theres a part of me that wants to shut you out
And never see your face again.
(chorus)
I want to make you laugh, and I want a chance to know you better.
I want to hear you sing beside me now.
Were just like you.
(chorus)
I want to make you laugh, I want a chance to know you better
I want to hear you sing beside me now... flesh and blood
I want to make you laugh (want to make you laugh), and I want a chance to know you better
I want to hear you sing beside me now
Im a part of you, and I miss you.
A song for you, for only you.

Lies
Baby
What do I do
Playing my tune for you
Just to get you in the mood
Everybodys going to hollywood
Youre driving me mad
But Im smiling to the crowd instead
A lot of money is at stake, this is a hit and thats a fake
This is what you mean to me
This is what they all should see
Make a make up in a foolish style
Telling the truth by making a big lie
When I come, I come but nothings at ease
Breaking up the whole is a modern disease
Maybe you think tomorrows just a joke
Its a joke after joke after joke after joke
My love
Everythings an interview
And nothings really new
And everybodys looking for clues and you know what to do with a clue
My love
Get ready for the show
Theyre waiting and they will never go
This night is just a go
And its only for show
Dig that deal and be a millionaire
Drinking cocktails in the stratosphere
Getting jetlagged with my business friends in these supersonic wonderlands
Theres a flicker on the graphic display, first hes smiling then hes fading away
Maybe he thinks tomorrows just a joke
Its a joke after joke after joke after joke

Deaf Martha
Poor Martha is old, and her hair is turn'd grey,
And her hearing has left her for many a year;
Ten to one if she knows what it is that you say,
Though she puts her poor wither'd hand close to her ear.
I've seen naughty children run after her fast,
And cry, "Martha, run, there's a bullock so bold;"
And when she was frighten'd, laugh at her at last,
Because she believed the sad stories they told.
I've seen others put their mouths close to her ear,
And make signs as if they had something to say;
And when she said, "Master, I'm deaf and can't hear,"
Point at her and mock her, and scamper away.
Ah! wicked the children poor Martha to tease,
As if she had not enough else to endure;
They rather should try her affliction to ease,
And soothe a disorder that nothing can cure.
One day, when those children themselves are grown old,
And one may be deaf, and another be lame,
Perhaps they may find that some children, as bold,
May tease them, and mock them, and serve them the same.
Then, when they reflect on the days of their youth,
A faithful account will their consciences keep,
And teach them, with shame and with sorrow, the truth,
That "what a man soweth, the same shall he reap."

Mock Song
Zither, Rachel, cardamom, frost - But at what cost?
Threshold, skin, fortress, win - A life of sin
Pliers, tension, toy store, grace - The human race
Raking, fourteen, basket, screw - Now how 'bout you?
Passion, cardboard, raisin, stop - A better crop
Field, cater, open, new - Who's mocking who?
It's just a mock song
Gas, thirsty, rattle, tick - A bone to pick
Fountain, egg, treason, cave - Will you dance on grave?
Throat, carrot, meeting, choke - I got that joke
Temper, thistle, Rodney, wilt - The house I built
Fewer, pink, Kyle, ball - I've known them all
Penny, thistle, cell phone, blow - Reap what you sow
Because it's just a mock song
Call it what you will

Please Stay
Oh my love why are you dressed so fine
Are you leaving me again and make me sad
Please stay, give me another time
Lie beside me and tonight we will be one
Wrap your arms around me and keep me warm
Come and let your breath shiver my spine
In your breast I will lay my head
To hear your heart beats what it sounds
Allow my hands to touch your face
Run them through your hair as we gaze
Come to me free your mind
Let all your troubles be gone for a while
I miss your presence so let it be mine
Oh my love please stay let's make our time count
The night is inviting so please don't go now
I know the place is boring but I will make it gay
I am not a clown but I will make you laugh
Though sometimes I make no sense and dry
I will try to be humorous just to make you fine
Oh my love why are you so in a hurry
Time and situation may not be ours again
So grab it all while it's ours and the fate allows
Let's not waste any minute, any hour
Let's cuddle and make this moment so alive
I want to remember this all through my life
So please stay even for a while

Call, The
Out of the nothingness of sleep,
The slow dreams of Eternity,
There was a thunder on the deep:
I came, because you called to me.
I broke the Night's primeval bars,
I dared the old abysmal curse,
And flashed through ranks of frightened stars
Suddenly on the universe!
The eternal silences were broken;
Hell became Heaven as I passed. --
What shall I give you as a token,
A sign that we have met, at last?
I'll break and forge the stars anew,
Shatter the heavens with a song;
Immortal in my love for you,
Because I love you, very strong.
Your mouth shall mock the old and wise,
Your laugh shall fill the world with flame,
I'll write upon the shrinking skies
The scarlet splendour of your name,
Till Heaven cracks, and Hell thereunder
Dies in her ultimate mad fire,
And darkness falls, with scornful thunder,
On dreams of men and men's desire.
Then only in the empty spaces,
Death, walking very silently,
Shall fear the glory of our faces
Through all the dark infinity.
So, clothed about with perfect love,
The eternal end shall find us one,
Alone above the Night, above
The dust of the dead gods, alone.

Tribute To The Beautiful Woman Of My Life
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder so they say. Beauty attracts. Beauty is lik
e a pollen grain that attracts. Beauty appeals to the human senses. Beauty ma
kes life palatable. Beauty grants you favor. Beauty open doors. Beauty makes
you glowing for friendship. Beauty make people to always appreciate you. Bea
uty make people extend their hands of fellowship to you. Beauty make people
head turn to look or roll to gasp for air. Beauty make people run over themselves
. Beauty gives accolade and respect.Ho! Beauty Ho!
Beauty Ho! Beauty Ho! Beautiful lady i have given my heart to you
. I have given you my body my total being belongs to you. I am your all in all.Y
our beauty drives me crazy. Your beauty makes me abnomal at times.I cannot c
ontrol myself. I know the thing dey do me!
Do me! Do
me! Your multitude of words should have frighten the men but men still fall on o
ne another to win your love, should your empty talk make men hold their peace
? And when you mock should no one rebuke you. If i say i did not notice your b
eauty as well i deceive myself and posterity will not forgive me for that. If you will prepare your heart, and stretch out your hands toward me and accept me whole heartedly as your only beloved husband, i will fly to the moon because of you, surely you will lift up your face without a spot; yes you would be steadfast and not fear; because you will forget your misery and remember it as water that have passed away. Your life will be brighter than the noonday. Though you were dark, you will be like the morning, and you will be secure because there is hope; yes you would dig around you and take your rest in safety.You would also lie down and no one, i repeat no one would make you afraid, yes many would count your favor. I say with my whole sense of sincerity, tribute to the beautiful woman i love.

Love Gone Bad
Sing me a song of love...
Sing me a song so sad...
Sing me a song of remembrance...
Sing me a song of love gone bad;
Write the words and the music--
In your own flamboyant sytle-
Accent it with elaborate details--
Fill it with your obvious guile;
Give it a melody thats catchy...
You know-a phrase like refrain...
About loves greatest ecstacy...
About its agony and pain;
And then sing a song of love...
And sing a song so very sad...
Sing me a song to show that you remember...
And sing a song 'bout love gone bad;
Give it all of your verve and elan...
Spice it up with a bit of rhytym and blue...
Make it a song that everyone identifies with...
Make its words right and true;
Make it an anthem...
Or make it a ballad flowing free...
Make sure the words tell it all...
With a most haunting melody;
And then sing a song of love...
Sing me a song of so very sad...
Sing me a song of remembrance...
Sing me a song of love gone bad;

At The Abbey Theatre
DEAR Craoibhin Aoibhin, look into our case.
When we are high and airy hundreds say
That if we hold that flight they'll leave the place,
While those same hundreds mock another day
Because we have made our art of common things,
So bitterly, you'd dream they longed to look
All their lives through into some drift of wings.
You've dandled them and fed them from the book
And know them to the bone; impart to us --
We'll keep the secret -- a new trick to please.
Is there a bridle for this Proteus
That turns and changes like his draughty seas?
Or is there none, most popular of men,
But when they mock us, that we mock again?

Self-Mocking
Whenever I self mock
over a compliment I have been given
it is not to insult the person who gave it,
more to injure myself.
I can cope with most things
that are given to me except compliments.
Sound Strange?
When I was growing up many years ago,
I was belittled by family and friends alike.
They made me feel like a misfit,
so a misfit I became.
I endured insults about me
in every way shape and form.
Compliments were never given
and became a stranger to me.
Now that I am older,
I do not stand easy
when compliments are given
and I have to mock myself
and make a parody out of me.
I grew up feeling useless in everything I did.
They did not realise what they were doing
and hurting that they caused. I
t was not jokes they threw at me,
but hurting insults that made me feel insecure.
Now when compliments come
I cannot accept them readily.
I cannot accept that anyone
would want to compliment me,
so I self mock myself you see.

If the joke's at your expense
If the joke's at your expense... don't ask for the bill
Take the blows smiling... and then go for the kill!
Sarcasm screaming loud...outta my head
Laugh's cruel acid rain... Leaves mind dead
When a smile turns to smirk
It gets too bloody dark
Dark humor, Devil's grin
Tranquility of liquid sin
At times, you know, smiles can make
One Cry and break High hopes, STILL make
You, the butt of all jokes that they crack

On A Gentlewoman That Sung And Play'd Upon A Lute
Be silent you still musique of the Sphears,
And every sense make haste to be all ears,
And give devout attention to her aires,
To which the Gods doe listen as to prayers
Of pious votaries; the which to heare
Tumult would be attentive, and would swear
To keep lesse noise at Nile, if there she sing,
Or with a happy touch grace but the string.
Among so many auditors, such throngs
Of Gods and men that presse to hear her songs,
O let me have an unespied room,
And die with such an anthem ore my tomb
