The 'Poem' Project
Trying to convert poems, one format to another, plenty of headaches and bother.
A good friend helped with the issue, probably wished he hadn't agreed to.!
We weren't exactly the 'computer generation', as we tried to find a solution.
After all it couldn't be hard, so we thought, a lesson we'd be taught.! !
Discussing the problem, telephone and email, it became the 'holy grail'.
Formatting, copy, paste and scans, ideas, theories and part plans.!
Information read, advice requested, the 'poem' project we underestimated!
Errors, glitches, testing and trials, through scratching heads and 'gritted' smiles.
Bad and some good luck, we'd get a bit cocky, then again we got stuck!
Short lived success and celebrations, then frustrations and exasperations.,
One step forward, then three or four back, deep breaths, and a 'renewed attack'.!
Down loads, files, programmes, amid the the mental tantrums.
At our wits end, those computers sent us round the bend.
Those silicon chip sods, laughed at us like demon 'gods'.
At our attempts to solve the issue, as frustrations grew!
Settings and defaults, oh memories of old 'nuts 'n' bolts'! !
Those days were long gone, back to deciphering the silicone,
Frowns and mental anguish, those digital rascals had a 'death wish'.
Finding a solution mattered, in the process we got our heads battered.
On and on we battled, until the problem was settled.
Success came of our endeavours, against those callous computers.
It had been haphazard, hours on the mouse and keyboard.
Mentally battered and physically drained, our 'mouse fingers' strained.!
Twitches and withdrawn faces, those contraptions put us through our paces.
Our 'thousand yard stares', ready are our slippers, gowns, rocking chairs.
For that rest home and T.V. room, we may be occupying very soon.!

a mouse teaches Diogenes
You see Diogenes living in the slums. He lives in a barrel. This is the man even Alexander the Great admires. So it makes you wonder about Diogenes.
So you pretend to be there quite by accident and you ask: “Diogenes…Who was your teacher? ”
“A mouse was my teacher, ” says Diogenes.
You are quite confused. And you say: 'A mouse is your teacher? And how is that, Diogenes? '
“Well, most exquisite Sir, ” says Diogenes to you. “Most cultured Sir, ” he says. “I had no home and I was in the streets. I almost killed myself. Then I saw mouse. Mouse ran around and looked for food and it found some and I observed mouse for over two days. And I realized how resourceful mouse was. And then I said to myself: ‘Learn of the mouse, Diogenes- and all will be well.’ And so I learned of mouse. And every time I have a problem, I simply ask myself: ‘How will mouse solve this? ’ And so mouse became my teacher. And now, most Exquisite Sir, I have a problem. You. I want to get rid of you and I ask myself: ‘How would mouse solve this problem? ’ He would bite…”
You listen to this and you are afraid – and you run. And Diogenes has done well; he has learned well from his teacher. And you can hear him shouting to you: “By the way, who was your teacher? ”

What If
Every problem has a solution…
Struggles are in everyone's life…
Some more then twice…
But to know in your heart…
That you are part of something good…
Is understood…
There is a solution…
Even with all the pollution…
Life has it's up's and it's down's
(Smiles and Frowns)
(Laugh and Clowns)
(Survivors' and Downers… alike) …
"Keep shouting be like Mike"
The things you want… most…
(YOU) must fight for…LIFE…
Really ain't for keeps…
Oh! But it's a beautiful dare…
Even though…life is not fair…
Change your mind…
Change your life…
In that way you get to live twice….
Every problem has a solution
Even with all of the pollution
All is not lost…
Just don't say…
What if…

Sometimes I Think
sometimes, (i always keep it to myself)
(i am better than you
how you approach a problem
using a very circuitous solution
as i look at you keeping such a busy day
i sigh and look away
i could have done much better
but you are there
so high, you are put on such a pedestal
of distinction
with more medals and plaques
the way you have danced well
with the powers that be
with the gods of our society
you always wear a smile
and take the posture of obeisance
and always ready with your
yes, sir, yes, sir
and some expensive gifts
(how can i ever do that
without disrespecting myself?)
now you got what you wished for
my master
i become your inferior
and wait for your orders
you cannot issue them
you do not know what to do
they are all waiting for the solution, they are now hoping for you
(i could have done much better
as i wait for your orders
but what can i do?
you are the system
and i am but this silent dissenter)

An ode to the diode
Beginning from the vacuum diode
The long forgotten tetrode and pentode
Small devices which drove large loads
To them I dedicate this ode
They took shape as a mechanical switch
Driven by an electromagnetic relay
However, they operated with a glitch
And also with a terrible delay
They made the first computer as big as a room
A very slow machine, nevertheless smug
The end was heralded quite soon
Between the contacts when they found a bug
A new era the vacuum tubes did usher
A result of brilliant innovation
They were promising and seemed to assure
For the existing problems a solution
Tubes required heating which dissipated power
That was a waste and a problem at hand
The remedy was silicon, as light as a flower
Available in abundance in grains of sand
Silicon replaced tubes and were called solid state
Designed to amplify, attenuate, flop and flip
They grew at a tremendously rapid rate
Millions integrated onto a single chip
The inventors had perhaps never dreamt
Of the uses silicon now does find
Whenever technology makes an advent
Electronics can never be left far behind
Any complex mathematical calculation
Is brought down to a simple logic
This is called the binary operation
But the switching has got to be pretty quick
Technology is but a means to an end
It all simmers down to a zero and one
Life needs to be lived, my friend
Packed with much laughter and fun

A Mouse in the night
As a mouse creeps silently through the house
It hardly makes any noise
It seems like that little creature
Holds the night in it's poise.
I wrote this poem myself because I like mice, and because it makes sense to write about a mouse in the night. This type of poem is a Ballad Poem. O, ya, just to let you guys know, all the poems you will see here are not copied from somewhere else, and I didn't even get any of my ideas from other poems. Just for a heads up! Well, I hope you enjoyed this poem.

Cat and Mouse Game
As Beau Sia is chasing Bruce Lee,
I am chasing myself.
As these thoughts of who I am,
Are racing through this foggy abyss.
This migraine the fuel to continue,
This cat and mouse game.
Running in the wall just in the nick of time.
The mouse keeps on swatting at the wall.
Hungry for some more.
With pain in my chest that keeps me on my toes,
Well at least on this computer,
Writing this poem.
Fingers pounding on this keyboard.
Trying to keep finding a place in my heart where I can love her again,
Trying not to get angry about the stupid shit.
Trying to be patient by taking deep breaths,
Trying, but it's not working yet.
Why hasn't she called me?
My fingers have a feeling that this poem is turning into a rant.
Like a manic depressant deprived from their anti-depressant stash
Trying to find a meaning to all of this.
Sharp pain in my sides.
Like a thunder and lighting show,
During the summer.
Trying to remember the reason for living.
Sharp pains in my heart,
Due to this bad feeling in my gut.
I should still trust her right?
My pulse has quicken,
As the blood is rushing to my head.
Her voice has taken control of my heart and mind.
My head spinning,
Body trembling,
What kind of spell does she have me under.
How does all my poem not relating to her,
Ends up being about her?
Damn she's good.

Just Don't Need This
Album: Angels With Dirty Faces (2002)
Look across the room
I see some guy
Steaming over me
He's smirking sleazy
Probably be older than daddy
Since you smiled
My expression has changed
Come any closer
Things will be constrained
I walk pass looking good
Doesn't give you the right
To put that hand where you think that you should
Not this girl, not this world
Just step off, had enough
You're no good, I'm no fool
I just don't need this
Not this girl, not this world
Just step off, had enough
You're no good, I'm no fool
I just don't need this
I don't want any man to tell me what to do
Anyone to say to me my feelings are not true
For your information
I maintain my station
Feel so incredible
Don't need no man to tell me where yo go
Cos this is all you know
Not this girl, not this world
Just step off, had enough
You're no good, I'm no fool
I just don't need this
Not this girl, not this world
Just step off, had enough
You're no good, I'm no fool
I just don't need this
I'll go wherever I know that you won't go
I don't have to tango with your ego
And it's just because I said so
They way I'm feeling now is mental
The problem first starts in your dentail
I can't believe they let you in 'dis place
But have they seen the look on your face
Not this girl, not this world
Just step off, had enough
You're no good, I'm no fool
I just don't need this
Not this girl, not this world
Just step off, had enough
You're no good, I'm no fool
I just don't need this
Not this girl, not this world
Just step off, had enough
You're no good, I'm no fool
I just don't need this
Not this girl, not this world
Just step off, had enough
You're no good, I'm no fool
I just don't need this

If I Only Had A Little More Time.
Dear sir, will you read and comment on my poem?
I think if I have time to with so many request most of the time I just read poems as a see them on the website.
Can we do that instead.
Or how how I browse all your poems and pick one that catches my eye?
Why can't I choose when I have the time?
Its not that I don't like these authors I really do.
I would read everyone they wrote given a chance.
But my goodness I work 12 hrs out of the day usually.
And if not working I'm either helping friend repair his home from the flood, or building another computer from old junk computers, or I'm writing.
Can you see how I have a hard time fitting that in always on a constant basis?

What Is Love
There's a question with so many answers
No one knows them all
No high powered scholar
High paided by the hour
Could come up with the answers
To this complex question
What is love
I wanna know, I just gotta know
How is that we can make mass destruction
With one single bomb
But can't find a solution
To one simple problem
That has troubled us all
What is love
I wanna know, I just gotta know
Why is it that
We can make smart computers
That think for themselves
But can't make a computer
To match lonely people
With one thing in common
To fall in love with each other
what is love
I wanna know, I just gotta know
Maybe one day they'll
Make up a word that sums up love
That won't be so complex
And fits with the rest
But for now we are stuck
With this word and no luck
What is love
I wanna know, I just gotta know

Technology
When i turn the television on
i change the channels on and on
i find the right channel with the remote control
i see my idols, they make me lose control! !
When i turn the computer on,
i go to websites in the internet
typing its letters with the keyboard
clicking games with the mouse,
and with no one disturbing me, cause i do it in my house
from generation to generation,
gadgets and gizmo's made by amazing inventors
but three things so simple, i cant be without,
the remote control, keyboard and mouse,
dont need to outside, their inside my house

The Real Fengshui
his door faced the bend of a bridge
they told him that would bend his luck, so
he had the door torn down and bore through
a wall for a new door, one that faces
the Sun well for the sunshine of life
her door opened to the sharp edge
of a building she thought was the
inauspcious razor that had slashed
her chances in life, so with much incisive
belittlements of her neighbours,
she hung a ba kua mirror to throw back
what she thought should be theirs to keep
another one with the same predicarment
bought a large cannon to aim it at the poison arrow
she thought would overpower the bad influences
one man tore down a whole house
spending a few hundred thousands on
a fengshui expert to plan him a house
with all the good fengshui, a pyramid
he thought would be a panacea of
bad omens, where dreams perpetually come true
but to get the toilet, kitchen and living room in
the right paths of the stars, the house had bore
a hole right through his pocket
fortunately he is well heeled
the forces of wind and water
have like typhoon swept a flurry
of cash into the the coffers of
fengshui masters these days -
they sure had set the lucky winds
blowing in the right places
hopefully fengshui adherents
had had their bad angels swept
into oblivion never to return
perhaps there is another house
that needs all the fengshui care too
our spiritual, emotional and mental growth
needs the fengshui of the mind
to keep them strong - so that those
doors of success, failure, trails, tribulations
we could face with the right canon of faith,
courage and confidence
the house over our shoulders
is where the art of fengshui has to
come first for what we do reflects the
order of the chairs, tables and books
in the library of our heads

Houston
It's been three days, two hours
And a minute
Since she blasted off
Breaking every speed limit
As fast and far away from me
As she could get
Well, she said,
You'll straighten up one way or another
The Don't Mess With Texas bumper
Sticker on the bumper
Said it all as she drove off into the red sunset
She was right and I've learned my lesson
Here on out, I'm a man on a mission
Houston, we have a problem
If you can put a man on the moon
I'm sure there's something you can do
To help a love a little off course
Well, I'm losin' her,
Heaven knows I can't do that
I need her back
So come in Houston, we have a problem
She left with a suitcase full of resentment
She told me that I was afraid
Of commitment
She said don't call me baby, I'll call you
Well it's been days and I ain't
Heard nothing
Somebody's just got to do something
Houston, we have a problem
If you can put a man on the moon
I'm sure there's something you can do
To help a love a little off course
Well, I'm losin' her,
Heaven knows I can't do that
I need her back
So come in Houston, we have a problem
If I could do anything I would give everything
To make her come home
I only need a chance to say if
I could find a way
To let her know, come in
Houston, we have a problem
If you can put a man on the moon
I'm sure there's something you can do
To help a love a little off course
I'm losin' her, heaven knows I can't do that
I need her back
So come in Houston, we have a problem
We have a problem

The Case Of The Slack EF Staff
Her staff room
obviously only
respond when?
an analysis
of Vikki's words
indicates
trouble in her staffroom
'being a nice boss
is not appreciated
at the moment'
her staff only respond
when she moans and groans
is on their case 24/7
What now is her solution?
What now her resolution?
To be on their case 24/7?
Vikki declared war and said
'so if that's what is needed
for people to do what is expected
of them then fine by me -
Monday will be the start
of a different me'
to solve this problem
using my amazing powers
of mental perceptions...
I perceive a root cause
to this problem
it's an EF state of mind...

So what is the gender of your computer?
The men's group decided that 'computer' should

> The women's group, however, concluded that computers

Flattered
I've been battered,
And shattered by it.
But the process of putting the pieces back,
Have healed.
And I find myself flattered by your comments.
It does feel good,
Knowing I can still appeal.
And I thank you for that.
You have reminded me I can attract.
I am flattered.
But I must also state...
If you keep that up,
You might find I'm easy to bait!
And the first to want to snuggle.
I've been battered,
And shattered by it.
But I did not say one thing,
About rejecting the notion...
Of being tenderized.
I am not that self sufficient.
Nor do I choose to be!
Although I have made some attempts...
The results of them did prove to be less gratifying!

Man is not a machine... Although man most certainly processes information, he does not necessarily process it in the way computers do. Computers and men are not species of the same genus... However much intelligence computers may attain, now or in the furture, theirs must always be an intelligence alien to genuine human problems and concerns.
