Men are efficient to calls of danger
so the 'd speak of spiritual courage;
order needs one fearless arranger,
to tame randomness, pain to assuage.

Hope is the gift of a dreamer brave,
that stares at horizons open minded,
despair is the cause a mental slave
corresponds with futility, one sided.

If you are strong you 'll stand alone,
upon life's threshold to sky ascend,
your podium will be a gun smoke throne,
a dropping red drop, pain to impend.

There you 'll see all of your friends,
those that left to forthward years,
and smile to ghosts as prowess sends
a windy etiquette to wipe your tears.

There you will learn to stand tall;
to face solitude with smiling eyes;
and travel further to a sun scape thrall,
where dreams lift in a lonesome rise.

The Freeman

'Hope is a slave; Despair is a freeman.'

A VAGABOND between the East and West,
Careless I greet the scourging and the rod;
I fear no terror any man may bring,
Nor any god.

The clankless chains that bound me I have rent,
No more a slave to Hope I cringe or cry;
Captives to Fate men rear their prison walls,
But free am I.

I tread where arrows press upon my path,
I smile to see the danger and the dart;
My breast is bared to meet the slings of Hate,
But not my heart.

I face the thunder and I face the rain,
I lift my head, defiance far I fling, --
My feet are set, I face the autumn as
I face the spring.

Around me on the battlefields of life,
I see men fight and fail and crouch in prayer;
Aloft I stand unfettered, for I know
The freedom of despair.

Growing Pains

I was a child
Beguiled and fresh
Of innocents and new
Who played like many
With trust and hope
For the future that would be new
But unlike many
I broke in two
A rag doll in despair
And knew not of the
Wrong been done
To a child of one so young
Suppressed I learned
So young in life
Of what not to share
Love, life and Happiness
Were things to me not real
I walked around half dead half live
Thinking alas is this my life
And every day I cried in vain
Crying I want to take my life
But life for me continued
In suffering and pain
Never really sharing

All that I had gained
Life can take its ups and downs
For me more so the downs
But then I learned to look for hope
That carried me to higher ground
So from childhood to teenage years
To young adult I grew
With all those years of doubt and shame
Suppressed with in my pain
The burden I carried for so many years
Turned to hatred and pain
So for many years my anger
Took me through a life of pain
Of self doubt and helplessness
So I always hide my pain
You learn to live you bare the pain
Of all that life can give
Then grow into a women
That your burdens you bare alone
But now I stand before you
A women of today
Learning, Love, Life and Happiness
And this time for me it’s real
And with open arms I learn
To share my love once again
With all my family and Friends
I say thanks once again.

Tears Of Pain

Tears of pain stream down my although I know you're in a better place
Wishing I could see your face..,
Tears of pain stream down my face, I know you won the race.
All your pain finally ends, you and I were close friends,
Tears of pain stream down my face, I'll still be here in the end,
Tears of pain stream down my face this is something I can't take.
It wasn't fare for you to go; I have never felt a deeper hole.
Tears of pain stream down my face I feel
Your presence, in my place
I sure do miss that smiling face,

You were the brightness to fill my greys,

Daddy Don't Cry

Daddy stop crying
Your tears scare me
You're supposed to be the strong one
The fearless one

I can't face your tears
Or your pain
Why are you crying?
Do you hurt so bad?

At night I hear you crying
When you think you're alone
And I wonder, 'What did I do?
Was it something I said? '

You sit me down to talk
To tell me everything
You tell me of this cancer
This terrible curse

You tell me how you wish it would
Go away and leave us be
You tell me that you hope one day
It won't happen to me

I listen as you talk to me
And see the tears in your eyes
I get up and wipe away your tears
And say, 'Daddy please don't cry.'

You smile and the tears are gone
But the memory of them remain
I try to cheer you up
To make you forget, in vain

I need you to understand
That everything will be okay

Your Funny Uncle

A windy day
The cars in slow formation
Not far away
A final destination
One mother's son
His father's distant gaze, regretting
Where they went wrong
He always found it too upsetting
Me and my friend
We lived our lives completely
From start to end
You and your friend, so sweetly
With strength and pride
In spite of everything, and swimming
Against the tide
To obstinately hope of winning
And at the end
Your funny uncle staring
At all your friends
With military bearing
And stopped to stand
To smile and speak of you directly

Two Beautiful Flowers

I saw you yesterday with that brave smile on your face, and it cut
I tried to look your way with a reassuring smile, but still it cut into me
Both of us now, you with the tears fought back, me with a heart that could so easily crack, as I saw you yesterday with that brave look upon your face

I shall miss you, in ways that I may never find easy to say
And I will cry from a very deep part of me inside
But like the phoenix, though mythical in story
In truth, a simile, I cannot hide

For in your smile my darling, I see something that is born of hope
Something had to die in-order for something to be fixed that was too easily
Broke

But sometimes just as winter has taught me of it's cold
, I shall try hard to numb the feelings that take such a strong hold

I will shake them off with laughter and tears and shout to the heavens.

Stone Angel

You are the reason for my pain,
You are the reason I stand in the rain.

I wouldn't be here by choice,
But I was forced, and I can still hear your voice.

I push the memory of you away,
But somehow it always finds a way to stay.

You are the one who hurt me, who stole my rights,
And now I have to endure lonely nights.

You put me in this place,
I remember what you did, I remember your face.

And now I stand, in rain, in sun,
If it weren't for what you did, I'd run.

I'd run faster than you,
I would run until I could find away to start new.

But that would happen; I will never be able to go,
Because of you, because I couldn't say no.

But now I stand through everything like stone,
I'll always be hard as stone, I will always be alone.

You made sure I'd be alone, that I'd stay here,
But I won't show you my pain I wouldn't even shed a tear.

Yet still I shall fade,
I will crumple no matter how strong I was made.

I will fall to the ground,
I will go without the slightest sound.

And then I shall be gone, I will no longer be your slave,
But soon I will go and leave behind all the pain you gave.

You are the one, who shall hold my pain once I leave,
And you will believe what you never wanted to believe.

Elysium
Elysium, is everyone chipping at your cordiality?
Elysium, you stand ice-bound to the windy casualty
Elysium, is everyone nagging at your reason to believe?
Elysium, you stare down from a mound with such hostility

Shadows of Despair

When colours are all grey and black
When shining lights turn gloomy and dark
When hope for now and the future
Is switched off by the violence of the past
Then the focal point on life's meaning
Grows dim to the eye of the beholder.

How necessary it is to rise up from despair
To see the blinding, dazzling colours and lights
To face the future with courage and not fear
To wrestle with pain and accept it is there
To see meaning in all that's happening
To lift up the face of despair as part of life.

I'm A Strong African

High tides do come my way,
but I choose to stand tall.
Knocked at different momentums,
but i refuse to fall.
If life is like a soccer field,
I refuse to be kicked around like a soccer ball.
People despise me due to the texture of my skin,
but they never witness my emotions.
because if i take it to heart I know thats a ruthless sin.
A handsome smile is what they see,
but nobody knows the pain within me.

Some people say my life is perfect like a movie,
but if it is then,
it surely isn't fair because i didn't rehearse this role.
Sometimes i feel like im cursed with pain,
but i chose not to complain,
because negativity in my mind is like the sun trying to shine during the rain.
I face battles as large as Goliath,
but i'm fearless like David.
I'm a strong African.

Standing tall

Too Long In Happiness

Did you expect to find me saddened?
Returning as a 'gift' to lift my spirits,
From darkened caverns of despair?
Hoping to build and boost me as your new project...
As you coached me through a narrow tunnel vision!
Something you suspect,
You placed and left there...
By a quick and regretted decision?

You have an expression of shock I witness.
Neither am I bitter...
Nor has hope for me been stopped!
Are you surprised I have no tears to drop?
What are you planning to plot on this 'visit'?

When you left without explanation...
And I saw you unexpectedly,
With a ticket to board a train at the station.
I knew right then you were setting me free!
I admit I was then a bit upset...
But something came over me!
I wasn't angry upon this sight I met!

I saw myself with a life you had stalled.
I chose to heal...
I chose to stand tall.
After bouts with doubts you left.
And after my emotions were torn as I crawled!
Realizing you were the one that had done this all...
I never looked back!
You made me see you were not worth that!

Silent Lucidity

Hush now dont cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
Youre lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
Spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over...or has it just begun?
Theres a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run to in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didnt realize it and you were scared
