On the move
With blazing lights they come
filling the mirror
before slicing past
helmeted men on machines
as if cast into saddles
become part of sheer speed
in black, blue or whatever colour jackets
some carrying passengers,
others driving alone
robustly swerving right through traffic
riding on thunder
under a blue open sky
with perfect control they dropp a gear
or maybe two and in the distance disappear
as if dwindling into the horizon.

Thundering On (Cavatina Sequence)
(after Thom Gunn)
A far off hum breaks the noon time silence,
rumbling thunder
of a manmade kind draws near, grazing cows
pause in wonder,
swallows, some in wheeling flight,
nesting under
a highway bridge swish about in some fear,
as some oncoming danger they do hear.
Men and women sit astride motorbikes,
with legs touching,
in almost a solemn intimate ritual,
everything,
even their black helmets, leather jackets,
is vibrating
to the essence of acceleration
of being in powerful forward motion.
With each other they are most intimate
and personal
as in unison they drive, they throttle on;
impersonal
beyond black visors, jackets, pants and boots;
emotional
they act, are a sheer force riding robust,
their uniforms are covered with dust.
There is some great joy, a sense of freedom;
the wind and sun
are tugging at the very centre soul,
with unknown fun
as they past in perfect control of speed;
as they are one,
with nature in a sudden kind of bliss
that some view as being utter reckless
Man, woman on roaring machines against
gravitation
becomes something more than mere human
intimation,
they are together travelling to their
destination,
next to the road the cows graze at the fence,
the swallows chirp after the inference.

Out Of The Blue
Written by ian bairnson
Out of the blue
I come sailing
Through the years
Through the years
What do I do?
Now that Ive seen
All our hopes
And all of our fears
And Im riding a lonely highway
Im the man from out of the blue
Yes Im riding a lonely highway
Im the man from out of the blue
I travel far
Yet no distance
Im still here
Always here
So follow the call
To our senses
Still theres hope
Behind the fear
And Im riding a lonely highway
cause Im the man from out of the blue
And Im riding a lonely highway
Im the man from out of the blue
Yes Im riding a lonely highway
Im the man from out of the blue

HALO (High Altitude, Low Opening) freefall insertion (Terzanelle
Falling through space with rushing air
you dropp from a plane as if flying on wings
with wind blowing everywhere, sweat in your hair
with the morning glow radiating between things
and the sun creeping over the horizon in a red ball
you dropp from a plane as if flying on wings
with oxygen feeding through the mask you feel small
seeing the earth rushing in at great speed
and the sun creeping over the horizon in a red ball
and your eyes watch the altimeter spinning, taking heed
trusting implicitly on the gear
seeing the earth rushing in at great speed
you are falling at terminal velocity with fear
and sensing the distance
trusting implicitly on the gear
and you pull the drawstring, expecting enemy resistance,
falling through space with rushing air
and sensing the distance
with wind blowing everywhere, sweat in your hair

Male Testosterone Invincibility
myth postulates teenage males
perceive themselves as invincible
consider themselves bullet proof
personally speaking as a past male
teenage survivor that rode the wild side
walked limped away where others died
accidents over 100 kph on open roads
accidents where nine out of ten died
I walked away from more than nine alive
friends used to come up touch me for luck
riding at speed in fools gear not full gear
living legends survived others swiftly died
back in the day when perfection was hourly
the impossible of course took just a little longer
strange even to this day accidents hurt badly
were all in cities low speed safe road rules obeyed riding
where people in cars talking on their cell phones driving
wasted flesh driving straight into you swift escape sped
yes proud superman and I were to stop cars
with nothing else except our body on highway
but it is a bit much when car drives over foot
when your immobile at a red light waiting for green
but that was an Indonesian car driver in no rules Jakarta
where speaking on cell phone driving is driver’s norm
hate cell phone driver’s driving all over road if you like
but keep eyes in the back of your head survive you might
coz getting run over by a ton of metal is heavy duty hard

Pylons
Like watchtowers stretching
far past the horizon
big giants of naked blue-grey steel
cut across the fields back to the source of raw power.
Interwoven in houses as a part
of the construction wires run
back to poles on farms,
in villages, towns and cities
and people have the use of electricity
in lights, appliances and machines.
How primitive does life feel
when the spark of lightning for a time is gone,
from the pylons
that hose it down into our existence.

At the red sea
In the distance he see them coming,
war chariots filling the horizon
and the rumbling of horse hooves
are getting louder
as they are getting nearer.
Caught between the deep blue sea
and the desert
men, women and children stand
around him
and fear is in their eyes
for the vengeance of Pharaoh
who regards himself equal to God.
They glance away
from the cloud that gives shelter
and the morning’s manna
that was sweet on their lips,
are also already forgotten
and most are truly convinced
that he is leading them
to utter destruction.
Horses neigh a lot closer
when he hits the sea
with his mighty staff,
the sea cleave open
and walls of water glide away
and gather at two sides
till a dry road
leads right through to the other side.
There are thunder rumbling ominous
from the cloud above them
and a strong eastern wind
spraying water
like vapours of rain from the sea
and blowing it to the enemy.
While Pharaoh and his soldiers
witnesses these things
they come at speed
following the path through the sea
and in the middle of the waters
they begin to sink in
and the last
of his people are through
and he lift his eyes up
to where more lightning bolts
now come from the column of cloud.
Then he reaches his hand out
over the red sea
and hold that mighty staff
into the air
and everywhere
thunder hits reaching over the sea
and suddenly walls of water break
with angry power
and enemy chariots, horsemen,
horses and men are gone,
covered by water
and every one there
know from where
their salvation comes.

Colour Of The Blues
Up above me are the skies
Like the twinkle in your eyes
Blue must be the colour of the blues
In the mail, the letters came
But you cant pay for love the same
Blue must be the colour of the blues
The bluebird singin in the trees
Seems to sympathize with me
cause hes not singin like he used to do
Pretty waters in the sea
Feel as cold as you left me
Blue must be the colour of the blues
Blue days come and blue days go
The way I feel, nobody knows
Life is finally empty without you
Theres a blue note in each song
That I sing since youve been gone
Blue must be the colour of the blues

I like blue
I like blue
and my motorbike is that colour
and some of the clothes that I wear.
If I am happy,
my eyes changes colour from grey
to bright blue.
The lavender bushes in our garden,
are rather blue
than purple to me.
When the sun sets behind the hillock
there’s a wonderful scent in the early evening air,
that comes from the blue bushes.
a Blue sky with a hot sun
can do miracles to me
and I cannot get enough of summer,
but Monday or any other day
must please stay away
from that colour.

The Road Ahead Was Meandering
The road ahead was meandering,
while I drove at a steady speed
taking the path as it did swing
with the wind rushing at my chest and feet,
the sun shining hot on my body
and the action of driving,
had a pleasure to it, while I felt free
a part of the motorcycle
which roared with power beneath me
and I was one with the black stretching road
while far in the distance I could see
a truck creeping along with its load
and I enjoyed speed and sheer tranquillity,
felt one with the passing nature
and the elements of the wind and sun had a kind of affinity
while the feeling was in perfection awesome and pure.

Sky-Minded
Blue sky,
blue sky.
Looking at you, wishing the day by.
Blue sky,
purple sky.
Storm coming in, here it is, there's the eye.
Blue sky,
grey sky.
The earth is wailing, the thunder yells, and the clouds cry.
Blue sky,
grey sky,
black sky.
Tore away at the moon, swallowed stars, listened to the sun die.
Black sky
Green sky
Orange sky
Red sky
Pink and yellow and mean sky.
Come on and roll in; it's only in my mind.

Night Flanger
I wake up in the evening
The sun is still around
The street seems to be busy
I hear the traffic sounds
Last nights been lousy
I had a lot to drink
Too many dry martinis
And cans of beer to sink
Another day, already night
Blue neon light
Blue neon light
I could call my rhianna
Ask her to meet me now
I think I lost her number
Its too late anyhow
I could turn on the tv
Or I could stay in bed
These asians drive me crazy
These asians drive me mad
Another day, already night
Blue neon light
Blue neon light
Night is near
Im still in bed
Red curtain
Soft wind
Sunlight
And I was red
On the papers
On the floor
We did watch possessed
People, push and pull it
Moss turf, and other lads
My heads still full of poison
What I do is insane
I should, perhaps, move out of here
Or take a plane to spain
Refrigerators noise
Ill get out, the only choice
Should I get up right now
Wait for me somehow
Dont wanna know what for
To get out of this door
Should I phone debbie meier?
Is this the one desire?
I look into the mirror
My eyes cant be in error
The suns now really gone
Perhaps I am the one
Nothing can creep in sight
Im turning on the lights
Turning on the lights
Im turning on the lights (5x)
The suns now really gone
Perhaps I am the one

blue is the colour of all that i wear.

At a pan at night
In the dark night I hear horse hoofs
coming on thundering
and there are sparks
bursting from the quartz rocks.
In the sky
there’s a sickle moon
and the hairs
on my arms raise
while blue thunder
fall like shots around me
and I can smell fire and sulphur
on the wind.
For a moment
while a church bell
rings of midnight in the distance,
there’s a horse standing neighing
on its back feet.
Just one look
frightens me past being awake
when another lightning bolt
strikes down next to us
and a horse
with a man without head
passes me at great speed.
In the distance at a ruin
I see an old woman in white
with a shrill voice
cutting through the night.

Sometimes I imagine
Sometimes I imagine
that my D Jacobs painting
of a red brown earth road
that in winter
runs through the yellow green veldt
past a few oak and blue gum trees
to the purple blue mountains
in the distance
is a Pierneef,
but what draws it nearer to me,
is that I almost feel
the sand beneath me feet,
can smell the tussocks of grass,
try to catch the shades of the trees
one by one,
see a graveyard
in the distance next to
a few bushes,
look at the bright blue sky
and get emotionally involved
with this painting
as it brings my childhood days
back to me
and it jumps right
into my heart.

What Are We?
1) Two legs sat upon three legs,
With one leg in his lap;
In comes four legs
And runs away with one leg;
Up jumps two legs,
Catches up three legs,
Throws it after four legs,
And makes him dropp one leg.
What are we?
2) Old Mother Twitchett had but one eye,
And a long tail which she let fly;
And every time she went over a gap,
She left a bit of her tail in a trap.
3) Thirty white horses upon a red hill,
Now they tramp, now they champ, now they stand still.
What are we?
We have nothing to say today
We are being asked
What are we
And we think we are bullied
Because
Because we think we know what we are
Because we think we are the obvious
Plain like blue clouds, blue seas, blue kingfishers
Blue, blues, blue bruises, blue flag,
Blue crayon, blue surplus cars
Electric blue, shades of blue
We are black and blue
We feel blue
We think blue
We are blue.
And the obvious is like the biggest mountain ahead of us
And they ask: what is that?
And they see us
And ask us what are we?
Aren’t they all crazy?
We respect them and tell them nothing.
we have nothing to say forevermore.

Towards 280 (after Wayne Thiebaud)
Vibrant canvas, undulant colors
thin lines of thick paint
streaking white fields,
of bright California light.
The blue road plummets
into wider boulevards.
Down steep freeways
over shadowed s-curves
the black cars streak.
Past the pink condo
rising high along the blacktop,
its thrusting blue shadow slicing
the indurate road,
they drive down bright 280
past creamy waves of warehouse
through fields of pale gold,
where at last they converge
on the incipient, blue
bay.

Black And Blue
Slip n' slide, push it in
Bitch sure got the rhythm
I'm holding back, yeah, I got control
Hooked into her system
Don't draw the line
Honey, I ain't through with you
The harder the better
Let's do it 'til we're black and blue
Well, you never know when love will come
Gotta get it while you got it
A little bit of everything, even when it hurts
Sure feels good
Don't draw the line
Honey, I ain't through with you
The harder the better
Let's do it 'til wi're black and blue
Yo mama!
Black anbd blue
Gotta, gotta, gotta, make it right
Don't draw the line
Honey, I ain't through with you
The harder the better
We'll do it 'til were black and blue
Don't draw the line
Baby, I ain't through with you
The harder the better
Let's do it 'til we're black and blue
The wetter the better
Let's do it 'til we're black and blue
Do it 'til we're black and blue
The wetter the better
Let's do it 'til we're black and blue
