I

Her older brother brings
violets from the marsh to her
when she is seven years old
with her hair shining like gold

and she pours him some tea
that he gets on the small doll table
that he had made for her
from wood cuttings

and he reads October month’s poem
on her birthday,
that makes her smile
like a small angel.

II

When her mother hits her
with a black shoe
she is on her brother Pieter’s back
who caries her out of the danger

while blows rain down on them
and she kicks and shouts
while he flees with her
and he is only groaning softly.

III

The first day on their way to school
they ride two-two on Rondeberg
and Rodjer and she’s a bit scared
but her big brother Frans

will with his gentleness
conjure everything right
if somebody dares to do something
and she is unhindered.

IV

Her older sister Lenie
in the afternoons tells
about the things that she reads
in bits and pieces

like a beautiful sequel
but she has to try her best
not to forget about the porridge
that is burning and are without salt.

V

In the old house
she runs around her father
where he stands talking
and farts loudly

one fart after another
and he scolds her
but asks half amused
is she now have become a motorbike?

VI

Her brother Frans
is always the silent one
who knows and counts the sheep
and when her young ox blows up

she wants him to pierce it with a knife,
but he leads the animal to the shadow
and they pray
and before twilight it is already better.

VII

On the day that Frans had to shoot
his own black mare
because of the animal’s suffering
the wind howled monotonous.

His older brother Pieter
only wounded the suffering animal
and he cried
when he lifted the.303 Martini Henri rifle himself,
but his shot was deadly accurate.

VIII

She and her brother Koos
sit against the wall
while the sun is setting
with red stripes against the clouds

and her mother and their aunt Krissie
are both at the gate with the horse cart
and the two children argue
and he says that their dad is there.

Maybe he wanted to comfort his small sister
or perhaps he did not believe
that their father had died
at the end of the day.

My Brother Sarah - Sway B-side

My brother sarah
Doesn't know what clothes to wear
It's a dilemma
To get the stuff to match your hair
But mother and father
Sister and brother
Say they just don't know
My brother sarah
Really wish you understood
Why he's got to show it
For it to be any damn good
But mother and father
Sister and brother
Say they just don't know
My brother lies awake at night
Wishing this world could just be right
But mother and father
Sister and brother
You and all the others
Say you just don't know

Rednecks unite!

My father is my brother
My sister, with three ears,
Is his significant other.

My sister is my mother
And somehow, also my brother
My father's father am I
The vile thought makes me shudder.

Grandma was a mule,
Grandfather's sperm, she used as fuel
A french aristrocrat,
Made love to my mother, for he prefered his women fat

A letter written for my eyes
Containing news of demine
Said my true mother was some other
And my father, not her brother.

Jubilant and joyous,
My wife is what used to by my sister.. Or brother?

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY MOTHER

BUT FATHER HAD PASS AWAY NOW
MOTHER ALSO WHENT ONE DAY TO
THAT JUST LEFT ME AND A BROTHER
AND WE WHENT ARE SEPARATE WAY TOO

10 YEARS HE CHOOSE THE JAIL LIFE
IHE NEVER CAME BACK HOME
NEW JERSEY FOR MY BROTHER
WE WERE BORN TO ROAM

WITH LETTER AND WITH PICTURES
WE ALWAYS KEEP IN TOUCH
MISSING GROW UP TOGETHER
AND THINGS THAT MEANT SO MUCH

MAYBE WRITTING DOWN THIS POEM
IN MY OWN AND SIMPLE WAYS
WILL TELL HIM ABOUT MY FEELINGS
I NEVER GOT TO SAY

BUT HOW YOU PUT ON A PAPER
THAT U REALLY MISS HIM,
OF ALL THE TIME THAT PASS WITHOUT YOUR BIG BROTHER

FROM IN MY HEART I FOUND THIS POEM
AND HOPE HE KNOWS ITS TRUE
WITH ONLY FOUR SMALL WORDS

For Bill - My Brother

Who was aged five when I was born
My brother
Who hid my toys and broke my dolls
My brother
Who avoided his sister at school all day
My brother
Who tolerated my teenage years
My brother
Who as an adult became a friend
My brother
Who mellowed with each passing year
My brother
Who supported my desire to immigrate
My brother
Who was there when others weren't
My brother
Who buried our parents while I was gone
My brother
Who cherished every visit I made
My brother
Who had his ticket to visit me here
My brother
Who unexpectedly died this year
My brother

Orphan Girl

(gillian welch)
I am a orphan
On gods highway
But Ill share my troubles
If you go my way
I have no mother
No father no sister
No brother
I am an orphan girl
I have had friendships
Pure and golden
But the ties of kinship
I have not known them
I know no mother
No father no sister
No brother
I am an orphan girl
But when he calls me
I will be able
To meet my family
At gods table
Ill meet my mother
My father my sister
My brother
No more an orphan girl
Blessed savior
Make me willing
And walk beside me
Until Im with them
Be my mother
My father my sister
My brother
I am an orphan girl
Be my mother
My father my sister
My brother
I am an orphan girl
I am an orphan girl

The Blood That Binds...

More than the blood of my blood. He is my friend,
my rock...my brother.

Brother, in times of need, never judging, always there.

My Brother, could, would, always make things right.

Brother, never made much ado, about the task at
hand...he just did it.

Brother, who lifted me, when I was down.

Brother, who brought the laughter, amid the pain.

Brother, the word he never spoke...was 'no'.

Brother, who had the answers, to my questions.

Brother, who by example, did walk the path of right.

Brother, in all my years...in all my life, never have
I met another...like my loving brother.

He Was My Brother

He was my brother
Five years older than I
He was my brother
Twenty-three Years old the day he died
Freedom writer
They cursed my brother to his face
Go home outsider
This town's gonna be your buryin' place
He was singin' on his knees
An angry mob trailed along
They shot my brother dead
Because he hated what was wrong
He was my brother
Tears can't bnng him back to me
He was my brother
And he died so his brothers could be free
He died so his brothers could be free

It's All Relative: : Humour

My mother’s brother’s sister’s name is Grace
She’s my aunt and likes to go from place to place
My mother’s sister’s brother’s name is Brad
He’s my uncle and he is my cousin’s Dad

My grandmother on my mother’s side
Is my maternal gran, she is my grandfather’s bride
She also is my father’s mother-in-law
And not surprisingly they often go to war

My cousin is the nephew of my mother
His father happens to be my mother’s brother
My aunty’s niece is in fact myself
If you're confused please don't look at me for help

Big Brother

Big Brother your sometimes a pain,
Big Brother you've seen more than i have.
Big Brother we sometimes fight.
Big Brother you've always we're there for me,
Big Brother you've protected me,
Even though sometimes you hate to admit it.
Big Brother you helped me learn some things,
Big Brother you made a path for me in this world.
And i thank you.
Big Brother you hate to admit your annoying little sister you love.
But big brother...
I thank you.
I thank you and i'll never forget all what you've done for me.
I love you big brother & i wish the best for you.

My brother, his own father.

I have a brother,
When he was young, He was carefree,
I have a brother,
All grown up now, no more not free
I have a brother,
Who struggles to survive
I have a brother, at times be vain
Took my father in, took my father's pain.
I have a brother,
Who takes care of my mother,
Bless him, my brother,
He became his own father.

All My Brothers

I walk with my brother the Christian,
But I do not believe as he, I am not his Christian brother.
I walk with my brother the Jew,
Not born to his name, I am not his brother.
I walk with my brother the Muslim,
Infidel to him, he does not call me his brother.

They know only their god, not one that I can know.

I walk with my brother the Hindu.
We are love and all are one.
I walk with my brother the Buddhist
He has known me in our past family
I walk with my brother the Taoist
We are on this path but for a moment.

They know god and I am he.

I walk with my brother the Shaman,
He sees the animal spirit within me.
I walk with my brother the Pagan,
He knows only the nature from which we come.
I walk with my brother the Tribesman,
He finds my place with his people.

They know of god in everything.

I walk with my brother the deer
He watches me with curiosity
I walk with my brother the crane,
He wonders if I can catch him.
I walk with my brother the serpent,
He sees me as warmth.

They know nothing of God.

Song For Dad

Lately Ive been noticing
I say the same things he used to say
And I even find myself acting the very same way
I tap my fingers on the table
To the rhythm in my soul
And I jingle the car keys
When Im ready to go
When I look in the mirror
Hes right there in my eyes
Starin back at me and I realize
The older I get
The more I can see
How much he loved my mother and my brother and me
And he did the best that he could
And I only hope when I have my own family
That everyday I see
A little more of my father in me
There were times I thought he was bein
Just a little bit hard on me
But now I understand he was makin me
Become the man he knew that I could be
In everything he ever did
He always did with love
And Im proud today to say Im his son
When somebody says I hope I get to meet your dad
I just smile and say you already have
The older I get
The more I can see
How much he loved my mother and my brother and me
And he did the best that he could
And I only hope when I have my own family
That everyday I see
A little more of my father in me
Hes in my eyes
My heart, my soul
My hands, my pride
And when I feel alone
And I think I cant go on
I hear him sayin son youll be alright
Everythings gonna be alright
Yes it is
The older I get
The more I can see
That he loved my mother and my brother and me
And he did the best that he could
And I only hope when I have my own family
That everyday I see
Oh I hope I see
I hope everyday I see
A little more of my father in me
A little more of my father in me
I hope everyday I see in me
In me
In me
I hope everyday I see
A little more of my father in me

A sister. A brother.

A brother is the one who holds you as you shake in fear.
A sister is the one who looks up at you with love on her face.
A brother is the one who whipes the tears from your face and hugs you tight.
A sister is the one who tells you her deepest fears and her dreams for the future.
A brother is the one who watches as you becomes the woman you always wanted to be.
A sister is the one who fulfills her dreams with you right by her side, cheering her on.
A brother is the one who holds you through the downs and smiles through the ups.
A sister is the one who thanks you for your love and support.
A brother is the one who just smiles and says it was his pleasure.
A sister is the one who looks at you like the stars that shine.
A brother is the one who looks at you like you are his world.
A sister.
A brother.

They need each other.

I know that I can always coun on you
Because you are my brther
And I am your brother also
Brother to brother
Your life is different than mine
You live in Brazil

Sisters And Brothers

I wish I had a sister, who would be there all the time
I wish I had a brother, who would be all mine
I wish I wasnt alone anymore just as I am
so mabey I need to take a stand
all I have is my mother.

My sister and brother are both gone
not one of them here when I get home
sometimes not even my mother
I have to have a sister or brother.

My sister and brother both are gone
but they wont be alone for long
for even though I never saw them from the start
they will always be here in my heart.
