Not For Sale!

black coffee...
a blood pressure pill,
one aspirin, two ibuprofen,
and up to face the day!

what doesnt hurt
often fumbles or stumbles.
set your chin,
and tear down a wall!

truth barks,
and often growls.
what stinks just stinks,
no need to cover!

the work we do
with mechanical souls,
merely feeds the body,
what about the mind?

years sharpen doubt...
cold water is cold.
and poverty and loss...
you know the rest!

black coffee...
dont try to sell me.
i can still feel the heat,
and my soul is not for sale!

Coffee!

Coffee beans all ground up,
Coffee in my favourite cup,
Coffee black, coffee white,
Coffee dark, coffee light,
Coffee right, to start the day,
Coffee at work, coffee at play,
Coffee midday, coffee at night,
Coffee to sober, coffee to excite,
Coffee weak, coffee strong,
But maybe instead some Lapsang Souchong! ! ! !
TEA! ! ! ! !

Black Capricon Day

Hey hey
Hey hey
Let the rain come down on me
Hey, hey, hey, hey
I see people and theyre craving blood
And Im so rarely understood
Well I dont know what they want from me,
Its gonna take sometime just to let them see
Im going through a black, hey capricorn day
And though it doesnt seem so
Im going through a black hey capricorn day
Though you want to check me out
Im not the man to play, play, play, play.
Hey hey
Dont you see Im not the man to play
Hey hey
No way you can play with me today
Hey hey
Just let me sing it to my capricorn day
Hey hey
My heart is a pure sun and the sky is black
And I can feel cold steel when I turn my back
It stings like needles, with a jagged tongue
You know this scream reminds me
Of when I was so young
I never had any of those
Black hey capricorn days
Though it doesnt seem so
Ive got to get this way
Im going through a black hey capricorn day
And though you want to check me out
Im not the man to play, play, play, play
Its just to black for me
Its just too black
Im stuck on the highway
Leading straight to hell
Like any other drifter with a soul to sell
You know Im dealing with the devil
In everyone I meet
And their faces tell a story,
That life aint so sweet
Im going through a black, hey capricorn day
And though it doesnt seem so
Im going through a black hey capricorn day
Though you want to check me out
Im not the man to play, play, play, play.
Hey hey

A Cup of Coffee

I start my day with coffee as my friend
The beans so fresh, as it blends
Giving out an aroma, that wakes me up
I stumble to the kitchen and look for the cup
I pour some black liquid and sip right away
I just want coffee, to start my day
Then on the road I'm on my way
Coffee is my friend to make my day
Stuck in traffic, I loose my mind
I then sip my coffee and just rewind
I get to work with a cup in hand
Juggling with papers I can't withstand
The coffee at work tastes bitter and cheap
But it's better than getting caught counting sheep
All day long, I make pot after pot
Of black steaming mugs of liquid gut-rot
Tanked up on coffee, I face the day
Taking anything that comes my way.

Black Cold Coffee

Captain midnight and Captain cruise
out on the ocean
like a storm of bad news
it took three monkeys in a plastic mac
to fit inside a paper sack
And they're cooking up an alibi
cooking up some steam
out in the madness
somewhere in Orleans
they had a plan,
they had a plot
beggars and blues was all they got
Black cold coffee
black Irish soup
cold on a silver spoon
she's dancing through hoops
Baby's wishing on a wishing well
she's moving up
and ringing her bell
can't fly to heaven
on a persian rug
so put some coins in the old sailor mug
They travelled up together
from the coast
east of Aldgate
silently like ghosts
they had a scam,
they had a scheme
for drunks and bums counting beans
Black cold coffee
black Irish soup
cold on a silver spoon
she's dancing through hoops
Solo
Black cold coffee
black Irish soup
cold on a silver spoon
she's dancing through hoops

Black Coffee

Feat. merry clayton
She smelled like flowers, she tastes like toffee
She kissed me slowly, she held me softly
Got too close and she backed up off me
Left me stone cold sober just like black coffee
Just like black coffee
She told me that shed always be thinkin of me
She said she wanted me to know that she really did love me
She said she never put no one else above me
Except her monkey, shes like a junkie
Just like a junkie, just like a junkie
It was april 25th, its up around 80
Found a spot out in the park where the grass is shady
She said her moms from jamaica said her fathers from haiti
Such a pretty lady, shes such a lady
She smelled like flowers, she tastes like toffee
She kissed me slowly, she held me softly
Got too close and she backed up off me
She left me stone cold sober just like black coffee

Questions......

lady, (lady in black
gown, black hat, and
hand-gloves)

why do you want your
coffee black?

why do you always want
bitterness?

why always alone
sitting on a chair facing the sea
and drinking the salt of
the breeze
with your black coffee?

why sip bitterness
when
to my mind, coffee would be
better with cream
and honey

with someone beside you
facing the sea and
savoring the salt of the sea
with that black coffee of yours?

lady, why mourn
when joy is just around the bend?

why can't we be alone
together?

A Bitter Coffee... A Sweet Coffee

The age is running and I am still drinking my bitter coffee,
To when the story of this coffee belongs? !
Coffee and chocolate are so deferent in their tastes
But in several times
It happens that they have the same color.
It seems that the similarity of them is the same of features of the fortune reader.
When she gazes the cup of the coffee
But I am not so familiar with chocolate
Even I am not familiar with the talisman countenances of the hex.
I remember that once I asked him to give me a bitter coffee
Yet he has made a permanent bitter one
Each time he brings me the same coffee in the same cup
A question c0mes to my mind and I ask it to myself:
If we do not like the coffee, why we do drink it?
Do you think it is our destiny as my birth story?
I was born without my desire
Thus with each sip of the coffee
The destiny stops me not to tear the chocolate cover
to sweeten my coffee.

You Know The Rest!

you can smell poverty,
without ever asking.
you can taste hunger,
you can feel unspoken sorrow.
open your eyes,
you can see the season.
and in a lover's eyes,
the door, and the bolt.
feel the ashes,
too cold to stir.
take a deep breath,
move your mechanical feet.
time doesnt lie,
and doesnt know truth.
'ashes to ashes...'
you know the rest!

Water.

Water drips off my body
Red water
Black water
Water that looks like glass as it rolls down my face

Stop the pain
Stop the water
Stop the liquid pouring from my body

Feel the pain
Breathe it in
Taste the hurt flowing
Flowing
Ever so smoothly
Ever so beautifully

Red water
Black water
Water that looks like glass and cuts like a knife

Red water
Looking so pretty
Glistening in the light

Black water
Staining my soul
Streaking my face
Making my pain visible

Water that looks like glass
Falls on my body
Seeps through my pores
I feel nothing inside

So breathe it in
Feel the pain
Let it hurt
And let it heal
Cuz you'll be dead soon enough.

Life Is As Simple And Enjoyable As Sipping Coffee Early Morning And Enjoying The Scenery Of A Rustic Place

alright,
we simplify this

it is early morning
they have not awakened yet
the house is very peaceful
the windows are closed still
and the doors too

alright
stand, walk towards the window
open all of them
let the cold air come in

then walk towards the door
unlock it
and open it too and then
let the cold air
come in

you want coffee?
go to the kitchen
take a spoon a cup and saucer and
take sugar and coffee and
hot water

you know what to do, right?
feel at home
this is your home

now take your time
sit on a chair
face the trees
stir your coffee
feel it hot
and then sip

enjoy, savor the scenery of
this rustic place

feel the wind on your cheeks
take the warm side of the cup

alright,
is not life as simple as this?

Liturgy....

liturgy....
black coffee,
old hands opening boxes.
sweeping the floor
of the soul.
words shaped like photographs
made of wind and tears.
simple things...
simple doings!

the same shovel
digs the grave,
digs in the garden.
barefoot,
and half naked,
no need for words,
no fears to console.
live without regrets,
leave it all on the table.
do the work, and move on.

dont be the hollow religious image,
a body that has no love,
a love that has no body.
dont be so quick to wash your hands,
the dirt neath your nails
is your heritage!
liturgy...
black coffee,
and touching,
the shovel, and the axe!

Is it Tea or Coffee?

Is it Tea or Coffee?
Tell me!
My instant early morning dream
I like it black, white with sugar or cream!

The choice is free
Yet the mind cannot agree
With Tea is a Yippee!
With Coffee it is a Whoopee!

The thought of a little caffeine
The smell of fresh roasted beans
Will once again set off my adrenalin
While my exhausted brain is waiting

That stirring cup of sizzling black
Put on the kettle; spill the beans out of the sack
I will pay the fee; I will pay the levee
I will beg on one knee for a little bit of Coffee

Take a sip of the early morning coffee
Close your eyes and try to see
As you smell the airy aroma like a bee
Tea or Coffee! Perhaps you now understand me

Those swarms of dark brown seeds
They feed my vicious needs indeed
I don’t care how much I pee or how much I wee
For that sparking liquid of hot black called coffee

Cup of mocha

You never liked
the taste of mocha
You said it was
coffee laced
with chocolate lies

I always loved it
when the chocolate
masked the coffee
Just enough, and
let it linger nice

A lie coated truth
But, truth nevertheless...

The warm cup of mocha
Stands and grows cold
outside in
Dreams, forgotten,
lie dormant
new, old within

I stretch over the table
as across continents
To hold your hands,
to cup some warmth into;
a coffee grown cold,
a life grown old

We always shared
the mocha
you sipping
seeking the coffee
While I taste
the chocolate,
wait with the coffee

We stare athwart
Our love’s passion,
no longer an obsession
It retains within us ties,
Coffee mingled with chocolate lies

You always said
“Serve me poison,
with a smile,
I will drink it too.
Please, don’t lace it
with chocolate as with
coffee you do.”

You never liked
the taste of mocha
Yet, you always
drink it with me
As you sip,
your eyes crinkle
and I smile too, with you...

A Cold Cup Of Coffee...

must i know now the
significance of a coffee getting cold
after it is being served
on my table?
how do i not notice time passing?
like a breeze from the sea
because i have been preoccupied
looking at the horizon
anticipating the glory of the
sunrise that
i am waiting for most of my time
having spent
nights on isolated veranda
away from friends
and relatives?

a cold coffee now
that i regret having asked
and just like the rest of
my other coffees
it shall remain as it is

coffee on its brim
returned
untouched.....

Tear It All Down

I walk thru the streets of my old town
Trying to remember all the feelings
But the only feeling was that something
Sweet had come and gone for everyone
Theres factories in the fields where we used to run
Theres a hard day coming for us daughters and sons
Wake up, some things had better change
Tear it all down and starting here and now
Let it all burn, so many souls in pain
Tear it all down, too many hearts in doubt
Were never gonna learn
All of the treasures we own
God bless the house, the car and the t.v.
They built us a prison without any locks
And meanwhile the men who claim God on their side
Spit out their message and sell me a ride
While we look for idols inside a fashion magazine
Things are gonna change
Tear it all down and starting here and now
Let it all burn, so many souls in pain
Tear it all down, too many hearts in doubt
Were never gonna learn, theres a wall to keep us in
Tear it all down, and walls to keep us out
Let it all burn, too many souls in pain
Tear it all down, too many hearts in doubt
Were never gonna learn
Lying naked here in the shrine of your embrace (your embrace)
We touch the burning cauldron to your angel face (angel face)
I look at my boy as he sleeps
An innocent facing the lions
I wish there was some way I could talk to my father again
Theres a bomb in the schoolhouse
Wired to the face of the clock
In the face of disaster we stand like a rock
You cant want youre children to pay for your sins wake up
Some things are gonna change
Tear it all down, some things are gonna fall
Tear it all down, we cant go back again
Tear it all down, with backs against the wall
Tear it all down, theres a wall to keep us in
Tear it all down, theres a wall to keep us out
Let it all burn, too many souls in pain
Tear it all down, too many hearts in doubt
Tear it all down, some things are gonna fall
Tear it all down, we cant go back again
Tear it all down, with backs against the wall
Tear it all down, theres a wall to keep us in

Ode to the Coffee

i am black
i am coffee
everybody loves me

dawn, noon, night
hot, cold, warm
blow, sip, drink, slurp,
kiss and be all afresh

i am black
i am your
coffee of the day

one two three
gulp
gulp
gulp

...

i am black
i am coffee
every body loves me

i fill them up like
a ballet dancer
making them feel good
about the day
quickening their steps
sharpening their senses
giving their mind
the acme of my kicks
so that they twirl and swirl
the day like the best angel
full of class, verve,
grace and fervour

i am black
i am coffee
everybody loves me

dawn, noon or night
i am there to brew up your day
hot, cold, or warm -
like the ever changing day
cloudy, raining,
breezy, or sunny

i am the master of diversity
assimilator of tastes
topping up your wishes
with heaps of creamy,
tangy and flavourful offerings

i can be covered with ice,
caramelled, skimmed, creamed,
buttered, sugared, monchiatoed
and then let loose like
a jazzed up latino black,
red hot arabica wonder
to spiral down your lane
an exotic belly dancer,
sweeping you off your feet
keeping you wide awake for the
peak of every hour

kilimanjaro picked,
sulawesi civet cat intestine
fermented coffee beans
on the lowland, in the highlands
nut scented, spiced -
india, africa, indonesia,
you name it, we have them

the morning cup of coffee
pervades the air, colours
the day with such grand things
it holds and springs a thousand surprises -
with romances and verile seeds
to take us through the
greatest date - a black
- painting the day - like gems
sparkling and twinkling over
the floor of our thoughts

i am coffee
i emerge a circle of green,
turn a humble beige, and is roasted
till all black, brittle, and ground
- to give that gentle, tangy, bitter
flavour of earth - so that you can
pirouette the day away
with that ounce of humility
and intelligence
coffee sings all day long
- a beige roasted all black,
ground, percolated and now all ready
sitting lightly in a cup to please you -
an indulgence from a thousand miles away
sweet, bitter, hot or cold

i am black
i am your
coffee of the day
let me give you all the kicks
to jumpstart your day
listen the music has just started..
gulp, gulp, slurp
more virile than gangnam steps
- twirling, swirling over
your discerning tongue

Concealment And Covering

you conceal so many things
for so many reasons
you cover them
for so many ratiocinations

you cover you cup of coffee
so it may not get cold that easily

in the same manner you cover your cooking pot
so it may get hot earlier and at least fuel

you cover your ears perhaps because there's so much noise
you cover your head because it may be so hot or there may be rain

you cover your book to protect it from stains
you cover your furnitures because there is so much dust

you cover your body, your heart, your mind
for so many reasons

to each his own because we want to survive we want to live
we want to be just left to ourselves in our chosen privacies

no one has ever said that survival is a crime, a sin, a wrong,
it is the most fitting thing to do, and you must do it too.

Java Blues

Rick danko
I walked into a diner
And the blonde behind the counter
She asked if she could help in any way
Hell, I knew by her smile
Her number I could dial
If I was in the need of company
But as I bought some java
Instead she brought me a cup of chicory
I got those java blues
Coffees got me
Java blues
Oh coffee, coffee, coffee
Java blues
Coffees got me
Java blues
Oh coffee
You know that Ill stay high
Ill drink coffee till I die
Dont pour me water just fill up my cup
You know it takes a lot just to keep me up
Cost may be more than you care to pay
What good is money compared to fightin pain
Dont try to cheat
Its impossible to beat
The only pick me up thats here to stay
I got those java blues
Coffees got me
Java blues
Oh coffee, coffee, coffee
Java blues
Oh coffee, oh coffee
Java blues
Coffees got me
You know that Ill stay high
Ill drink coffee till I die
The taste of java is like a cocaine rush
Nobodys gonna stop me from drinkin too much
Down in bolivia the people are insane
They want as much for coffee as they do for cocaine
Dont try to cheat
Its impossible to beat
The only pick me up thats here to stay
I got those java blues
Coffees got me
Java blues
Oh coffee, coffee, coffee
Java blues
The coffees got me now..
Java blues
Oh coffee, coffee
You know that Ill stay high
Ill drink coffee till I die
I got the java blues
Oh coffee, coffee
Java blues
Oh coffee, coffee, coffee
Java blues
Oh the coffees got me

Oh coffee, oh coffee
