Back When.... (The World Was New)
we used to say 'i love you'...
rushing out doors we never locked.
leaving the fire untended,
and dishes in the sink.
summers came and died,
and neighbors seemed to follow.
as the footprints of small children,
became shadows that grew and left.
we who were forever young,
drinking dawn after dawn.
who are we now?
forever rusting in autumn....
the old spicket drips,
and dogs sleep as if they knew.
even the bricks begin to crumble,
the tin torn from the roof.
the setting sun names its own births,
and validates its deaths.
we who never speak,
words that seem strange to lips.
the flowers rest in peace,
the ashes cold and still.
as locks become the way,
the last winter looms in dread.
seems every house is vacant,
as the world drowns in transit.
we used to say 'i love you'...
back when the world was new!

Weasel words with easy starts are not the first ones to our hearts
Weasel words
with easy starts
are not the first
ones to our hearts
when the cold cadaver light of day
takes one of those we love away
After the funeral
- when the funeral was over
- After we had buried him
We walked across the grass
We walked across the grass
leaving footprints in the dew
footprints in the dew
How was that possible
’God’s name how was that possible
with him forever
And now, forever
footprints forever
looking back across the grass
The warmth of the day
losing us all, forever

Will You?
Will you hold me close
Or let me go?
Will we fall together
Or fall alone?
Lost love
The world afire
Silver tinged dusk
Gold tipped dawn
Once smiling
Blue eyes
Have lost their shine
Their spark
Can we hold it together
Or are we already too far apart?
Can something dead
Be resurrected?
Will you hold my hand
Or let it fall?
Will you whisper my name
Or say nothing at all?
Crumbling love
Falling fire
Crashes of lightning
The sound of thunder
Is nothing there?
Where everything used to be?
What happened to forever?
A life time together?
Are you giving up?
Will the sky scrapers crumble?
Will the ashes fall?
What will you chose?
Will you say goodbye
Or say forever?
Will you kiss me now
Or kiss me never?

Love Has Its Own Scars...
love does not sleep with clouds
and flowers...
nor wait patiently on dawn!
but with the barrel of the gun
cold on bruised lips,
with the torn flesh of moonlight,
at the height of the storm.
love never enters by doors,
but steals through windows...
speaks fluently in the language of hurt.
is the beginning of wars,
and their only end.
wine bittered with poison,
water still and pure!
rises in flight without warning,
tears the gutters from the roof.
shouts with silence,
and rhymes poverty's nails.
has its own prayers,
names its own gods...
becomes the value of a life,
on eternity's table.
the hurricane that strokes,
the hunger that weeps.
love has its own scars,
digs its own grave with a fork!

There’s Always a Dawn
There were spears
There were swords
Made for hunting
Not war
Yet with it, from the blood of the innocent will create a new dawn
But war came
Great battles and fights
Many dead
Few still alive
To face the never ending dawn
A new world made
By the people who were left
Conquerors and Defeated
United in one land
A new dawn created with the help of man
The one land changed
More wars began
Famine and disease
Grew a part of that
But the dawn still remained
It was after these wars that history began
Written by the victors about
The defeated
The damned
The dawn was never mentioned- forgotten
These people
The defeated left the land
In search for a new home
Away from the wars
Searching forever for a new dawn
Perhaps they were wise
To leave with such haste
For the empire they once knew
Began to break
The dawn now remembered- the people prayed
The empire broke
The great kingdom now gone
In its place a new world just like the dawn
Still life in the world went on and on
Yet the dawn was still worshiped- never forgotten
The years past
More wars began
Countries discovered
New weapons for man
The promise man made- left to die
Centuries turned
Discoveries made
Technology found
Diseases dead
Still on and on the dawn survives
But for every technology there’s always a weapon
For every discovery there’s always a second
With one disease dead more still arrive
And with every new day a new world is created
Though the dawn still remained
So the world keeps turning
In the dark and light
For every bad thing
There’s always a light
In the dawn
In war it is Peace
In death it is Life
In disease it is the Cures
In the world it is Hope
Disguised as the dawn
Hope keeps us going
Through the bad it is strength
To do what is right, To help the world
In the light it shines, shines for the future, a brighter day
A new dawn
The earth might be in darkness
With a shadow on its edge
Waiting to consume
Till the universe is dead
The dawn still remains
But still the world keeps turning
Like the never ending dawn
Time is forever
And the universe survives
Because of the dawn
It might seem the end
Of the world that we know
But at the end of a day
There’s always mans hope
There’s always a dawn

Thank You Mom
always, always, and forever...
All, always, always, and forever...
(joel)
I'm sitting here i'm thinking back to a time when i was young...
My memory, is clear as day
I'm listening to the dishes clink, you were downstairs, you would sing
Songs of praise
And all the times we laughed with you, and all the times that you stayed true
To us
Now we'll say...
I said i thank you, we'll always thank you
More than you would know, than i could ever show
And i love you, i'll always love you
There's nothing i won't do, to say these words to you
That you're beautiful forever...
(chorus)
All, always, always, and forever...
You were my mom, you were my dad, the only thing i ever had was you, it's true
And even when the times got hard, you were there to let us know...that we'd get
Through
You showed me how to be a man, you taught me how to understand the things,
People do
You showed me how to love my god, you taught me that not everyone... knows the
Truth
And i thank you, we'll always thank you
More than you would know, than i could ever show
And i love you, we'll always love you
There's nothing i won't do, to say these words to you
That you will live forever...
(acoustic guitar solo)
Forever...
And ever...
(bridge)
Forever...
And ever...
I said i thank you, we'll always thank you
More than would know, than i could ever show
And i love you, we'll always love you...
There's nothing i won't do, to say these words to you
And i thank you, we'll always thank you...
More than you would know, than i could ever show
And i love you, we'll always love you
There's nothing i won't do, to say these words to say
That, you will never, ever...
Ohhhhhh...

Autumn Longing
Let me die away with autumn
Let me be like fire
Ever ignite
Let me fall
I don't want the winter
To come after me
Let the autumn arms
Bright and gold
Let it come for me
In a dream
Like a swallow
Descending for Africa
I want to come with autumn
Let me come away with thee
I want to be wine red
I want tobe amber gold
I want to sleep
With the leaves
I want to burst with juices
Like the berries
I need to sleep
I need to burn
Like the sunset
I need the rest
Like the creatures
Who hibernate
To escape harsh winter
I want tobe with you
Autumn
Let me be asleep with thee
I want to hear you secrets
That hides forever deep
Oh autumn
Let one be in love with me
As I ‘am in love with you
Oh autumn
Let one die away with thee

Who Wants To Live Forever
Words and music by brian may
Theres no time for us
Theres no place for us
What is this thing that builds our dreams yet slips away
From us
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever....?
Theres no chance for us
Its all decided for us
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?
Who dares to love forever?
When love must die
But touch my tears with your lips
Touch my world with your fingertips
And we can have forever
And we can love forever
Forever is our today
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?
Forever is our today
Who waits forever anyway?

Now I Lay Me Down To Weep
now i lay me down to sleep
when the lights go out i begin to weep
i weep because of what i see.
there is anger all around
a gentle heart can't be found.
people bickering and killing one another
for the simplest of things
a chain, a watch, a ring.
hearts are broken-words unspoken
respect has gone out the door
never to return-forever more
the word of god must be spread throughout the world.
and it must start with the youngest boy and girl.
if they are taught when they are young
they'll get to see the sun
the sun that shines so bright
will become their guiding light.
for the adults have lost that sight
and they continue to fight.
love is the key to set our hearts free.
we are blocking the sun with bitterness and hate
let us stop-before it's too late, and open up the floodgates.
of tears that have been locked up within
and take away this sin.
this sin of not letting the children grow up in a world of love
and peace, and of gods love
given to us from up above.
let me put my head down tonight
and know that the world will be alright.

When We Were Children
There are times when our mind
slips back to a world we left behind.
To the days when we were children
and innocent to the horrors of humankind.
To the times when the summers sun
seem to last forever and a day,
when we were children
in that world so far away.
In those days when were not
corrupted by life as we are today.
Those days when beauty
came from the petals of a flowers head.
Those days when we were children
are gone to our memories
for us to lovingly remember
of a world we left behind.

Together Forever Always
Life can be distance between us.
Days, even years could pass on.
But the love that lies between us, will
Always be worth holdin on.
Together forever always
From the dawn, til the end
Of each day. no matter
How far away you are, were
Together forever always
I could try to forget you, but the
Memories keep lingering on.
But the dreams I dream about
You, keep me holdin on.
Together forever always
From the dawn, til the end
Of each day. no matter
How far away you are, were
Together forever always
Together forever always
Rom the dawn, til the end
Of each day. no matter
How far away you are, were
Together forever always

The Newborn Angel's Lullaby
Angel-born smile slipped away
To forever-sleep in grace,
Left behind a name to love
But what's in a name?
When farewell is too much to say
Through the tears fallen from the faces
Of those left to carry with only the memories…
Please sleep in peace
As your dream-bound voice still sings its melody
Unfit for tears, not for love, not for me...
Sweeter the dreams, bitter the sorrows,
At the dawn, awaken forlorn…
All the tears shed at the breaking of the dawn
Each for the memory of the loved ones now gone
They come to comfort me through the lonesome of the night
Until the day I join them beyond the light…
Please sleep in peace
As your dream-bound voice still sings its melody
Unfit for tears, not for love, not for me…
Sweeter the dreams, bitter the sorrow
At the dawn, awaken forlorn…
I still feel your love over the distance of our hearts
Let no ocean keep us apart
Let our love carry us together
Once upon a time, you were my world, my friend
Today, ever after, you're the stars in my sky
My angel…
My everything…

Propped Against The Wall
beneath the thunderous clap
of coming storm,
shadows scurry from limb to limb.
sunlight weeps through pregnant clouds,
and the spider builds his web.
with the feathered taste of sparrow's wings,
in the rhythm of marching ants.
logs cut and split, stacked against the house,
the spicket drips, and no one cares.
poverty tugs at the walls,
while voices tense with hunger's beat,
are lost in empty rooms.
children run between the cars,
with dirty faces, without shoes.
dogs bark from rib cages exposed,
as water boils on the stove.
the smell of time and elderly feet,
fans turn in paint peeled windows.
the old man tunes his guitar,
perched on the stoop like an owl.
with fingers gnarled he plays the blues,
his lips groan with pages burnt.
as love and whiskey intertwine,
and small children stare in awe.
the revolver waits beside the Bible,
and the picture yellowed with time.
while angels ride their demonic steeds,
with swords drawn and fiery eyes.
the court brought to order,
with the gavel's brassy thud.
as life stands before itself,
both executioner and savior.
small moments stolen by random kindnesses,
burn like candles in the darkened gloom.
and forever then is nothing more,
than fingers, chords, and pick.
when eternity tastes like whiskey's lips,
and curls in cigarette smoke.
who am i to suggest
this wisdom known by ants and snails.
that the voice of god is but the bark,
that the owl hears and understands.
and the clap of distant thunder,
perhaps not as far as it seems.
the anarchy of naked poverty,
in the tears that fall like rain.
and still the spicket drips in silent prayer,
the axe propped against the wall!

Our Sweet Love
I thought about a summer day
And how the time just floats away
Pretty things like incense and flowers
I wanna make them part of
Our sweet love
Could last forever
(our sweet love)
Our sweet love
Could last forever
I thought about a winter night
And how Id like to hold you tight
Candlelight the warmth of a fire
We could make them part of
Our sweet love
Honey its heaven
(our sweet love)
Our sweet love
Could last forever
Sweet love sweet love
Like a child with his new toy
My heart is filled with joy for
Our sweet love
Honey its heaven
(our sweet love)
Our sweet love
Lord knows I love her so
I feel it down inside my soul
A precious love like this can flower
Theres nothing in this world like
Our sweet love
Should last forever
(our sweet love)
Our sweet love
Could last forever
Our sweet love
Could last forever
Our sweet love
Could last forever
(our sweet love)

Black Snow
Winter has come
He'll show us
What will come upon
The forever lasting signs
Flowers shall wilt
And never grow again
Trees and us have died in Winter's wrath
He have only hallowness
Filled with dread
Does he have darkness in his heart?
Is pain all he seeks?
Yet he have sadness in his eyes
Is pain all he seeks?
We shall wilt
And never grow again
We died upon Winter's wrath
We shall filled his hallowness
Filled with only dread
But, Winter's tears fallen upon us
Expecting ice to stab thee
Cold as his heart we have expected
For coming at us
Is the cold snow of his sadness
His sadness is greater than his hate
His loss is greater than our pain
He murdered us for a reason
Probably he knows that Spring will never revive us
Spring have died with the Earth and tribe
Sadness in his heart?
The pain is what he has left
Yet there is greif in his blackened heart
Is salvation all he seeks?
His pain will finally fall apart
His heart is broken
And forever more, he will never have love again
Spring have died in human's wrath
For his heart is hallow
His tears shall bury us
In black snow

Sitting by the Fire
Barren Age and withered World!
Oh! the dying leaves,
Like a drizzling rain,
Falling round the roof -
Pattering on the pane!
Frosty Age and cold, cold World!
Ghosts of other days,
Trooping past the faded fire,
Flit before the gaze.
Now the wind goes soughing wild
O'er the whistling Earth;
And we front a feeble flame,
Sitting round the hearth!
Sitting by the fire,
Watching in its glow,
Ghosts of other days
Trooping to and fro.
Oh, the nights - the nights we've spent,
Sitting by the fire,
Cheerful in its glow;
Twenty summers back -
Twenty years ago!
If the days were days of toil
Wherefore should we mourn;
There were shadows near the shine,
Flowers with the thorn?
And we still can recollect
Evenings spent in mirth -
Fragments of a broken life,
Sitting round the hearth:
Sitting by the fire,
Cheerful in its glow,
Twenty summers back -
Twenty years ago.
Beauty stooped to bless us once,
Sitting by the fire,
Happy in its glow;
Forty summers back -
Forty years ago.
Words of love were interchanged,
Maiden hearts we stole;
And the light affection throws
Slept on every soul.
Oh, the hours went flying past -
Hours of priceless worth;
But we took no note of Time,
Sitting round the hearth:
Sitting by the fire,
Happy in its glow,
Forty summers back -
Forty years ago.
Gleesome children were we not?
Sitting by the fire,
Ruddy in its glow,
Sixty summers back -
Sixty years ago.
Laughing voices filled the room;
Oh, the songs we sung,
When the evenings hurried by -
When our hearts were young!
Pleasant faces watched the flame -
Eyes illumed with mirth -
And we told some merry tales,
Sitting round the hearth:
Sitting by the fire,
Ruddy in its glow,
Sixty summers back -
Sixty years ago.
Barren Age and withered World!
Oh, the dying leaves,
Like a drizzling rain,
Falling round the roof -
Pattering on the pane!
Frosty Age and cold, cold World!
Ghosts of other days,
Trooping past the faded fire,
Flit before the gaze.
Now the wind goes soughing wild

And we front a feeble flame,

Watching, in its glow,

Youll Be Gone
(words & music by r. west - e. presley - c. hodge)
Sweetheart were alone
And you are mine
Lets make this night a night to remember
Dont make our love a cold dying ember
For with the dawn, youll be gone
Hold me close in your arms as the night withers away
Lets not waste one precious kiss while were together
Oh please come to my arms and say youll love me forever
For with the dawn, youll be gone
Sweetheart when youre near
My heart is aflame
Your lips pressed on mine is heaven descending
And I could die because it is ending
For with the dawn, youll be gone
Let these passions we feel in our hearts never end
I could never share this feeling with another
Oh please say that you feel the same, therell be no other
For with the dawn, youll be gone
For with the dawn, youll be gone
For with the dawn, youll be gone
For with the dawn, youll be gone

Dawn And Dark
GOD with His million cares
Went to the left or right,
Leaving our world; and the day
Grew night.
Back from a sphere He came
Over a starry lawn,
Looked at our world; and the dark
Grew dawn.

Ever since there was sun and stars
If you wipe away those tears
And look back over all of those years
You will find not a surer kind of love
Ever since there was a sun and stars
Above to warm the blood in our hearts
"Forever you" I've been in love
"Forever you" I've been in love
I've been there in love for you
You will find not a surer kind of love
You will find every wish
You've only been thinking, dreaming of
Oh, dream of me!
Like I'm dreaming of you again…
Oh when the winter raps its cloak
Around your heart
I will always be there to warm
And shelter you
"Forever you"
"Forever you"
From the cold and dark
Sure as a fire is burning in your heart
"Forever will I be"
Tracking back in the melting ice
And snow
It's never easy but if you love me
You will discover and find the old me
And I will be
Sure to follow you
"Forever you"
For all eternity
Because of what you have meant to me.

On The Trail Of Pessoa
i've walked this road for so long,
that i know what silence tastes like.
i hear only the simple sounds,
or the simplicity of sound...
i no longer confuse shadows,
and i sleep with dogs.
owning nothing,
there's nothing i would kill
to purchase!
there are no footprints
in front of me,
i follow no one.
intimate encounters with strangers,
for we are all strangers,
even to ourselves.
perhaps a word or two,
or not...
we share the cup, and the fire.
i have long conversations with trees,
read intimate stories
written in branches and leaves...
sing lovesongs to small pools of water,
pick up the broken shell of the hatchling
with awe....
my eyes bow in reverence
in the presence of women...
small children come to me,
tell me stories about dreams.
we build kingdoms of sticks,
discarded by birds....
stray cats sit on my lap,
i learn the language of paw.
i listen to the wind
humming in the spider's web.
and dead things rest
by the side of my chair...
waiting for dawn, just waiting!

The World Needs Peace And Love
The world needs peace, the world needs love.
Muslims and Christians are all alike.
The world needs peace, the world needs love.
We don't need another airstrike.
The world needs peace, the world needs love.
People of all colors must be one.
The world needs peace, the world needs love.
All sorts of violence must be gone.
The world needs peace, the world needs love.
Stop killing our brothers and sisters!
The world needs peace, the world needs love.
Stop all these bullshit wars!
The world needs peace, the world needs love.
Stop terrorism, please.
The world needs peace, the world needs love.
Let our children live to the fullest.
The world needs peace, the world needs love.
We must stand together for better world.
The world needs peace, the world needs love.
We are the children of God.
The world needs peace and love...
