Marcello Mastroianni

I don't understand why these Americans have to suffer so much to identify with their characters. Me, I just get up there and act. It's great fun. There's no suffering in it.

Comprehension...Or Torment

No one knows,
When we suffer.
Or how it is we suffer,
When suffering comes and is done...
By anyone

No one knows the extent of it.
How deep what is felt.
And when those sorrows visit to sit.

Although folks give advice and instructions.
With sections of pamphlets,
To read by professionals.
To emphasize their recommendations,
Underlined in 'red'.
Suggestions researched...
To read and ease our minds,
Before going to bed!
Hopefully not to stay awake...
To pace the floor instead.

No one knows,
When we suffer.
Or how it is we suffer,
When suffering comes and is done...
By anyone.

When suffering comes.
And alone it is done!

And listening to someone say to us to pray...
Is not a cure all or remedy,
That takes our suffering to numb quickly away.

But...
Pray we must,
And trust...
That those burdens carried,
Will be lifted up and away from us.
Knowing in our hearts...
God watches and will do His part!

No one knows,
When we suffer.
Or how it is we suffer,
When suffering comes and is done....
By anyone.

When suffering comes.
And alone it is done!
So it seems.

Only God knows how to heal and mend!
Only God knows when to send our sufferings away.

And many times with faith...
God intervenes.
Before the suffering has had a chance,
To arrive on the scene.
Depending on what it is we wish to choose.
Comprehension...
Or torment,
With unquestioned agony!

I And Dentify

Love, Suffer, Patient, Kind
And never bow - jealousy
Earth, Selfish, No angry
No memory won't, separate my wicked ways
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is.
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is
Gentle, Purified, Stay true, Protection
Always trusting, Continue hoping,
Conquer, never fail
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is.
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is
This is what love is
This is what love is!
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is.
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is.
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is.
This is what love is.

We Identify...

it is in silence
that we identify
sounds as other than noise!

it is in bondage
that we identify freedom
as more than a dream.

it is in lonliness
that we identify love
as both the path and the journey.

it is in anger
that we identify forgiveness
as the release.

it is in despair
that we identify hope
as one foot after the other.

it is in death
that we identify life
and give it meaning!

Americans admire a people who can scratch a desert and produce a garden. The Israelis have shown qualities that Americans identify with: guts, patriotism, idealism, a passion for freedom. I have seen it. I know. I believe that.

A Mirror Image

How many times when reading a book,
do we identify with the characters within?
Their traits they have we share,
their loves and heartaches
their lives go through somehow mirror our own.
It’s as if the author was writing about us.
As though he has put us under a microscope
and then writing down everything, he saw.
However, we know this isn’t so
because he or she has written
segments of their own life
and by accident they happen to mirror ours.
Every writer will tell you
that they have their characters under control.
Having written numerous novels,
I know the characters take on a life of their own
and do what they want to do.
We become their instrument as they guide us on our way.
We end up writing what they want us to say.
To every writer his characters are real,
they live, breathe and feel.
The more you write about them,
the more alive they become.
So the next time you pick up a book
and the characters seem real,
they probably are to the author
who looks after them.

Identify

Your eyes, they send me
to eternity
your heart may cast me down,
to hell
again
But lately its your love,
its condemnation enough
Identify
Please Identify
If its me you want,
standing by your side
Identify
these tears of mine,
Am I lonely?or am I just alive?
And what is time, to say
Who and why the test of love,
your hands were speaking "no"
I felt the movement go
the ice was breaking,
so
I wondeer why
that I'd
identify with you
my life
Leave me empty and see if I survive
For every questioned hour,
For every second devoured
You let me wonder you
into a myth
that I
missed
Identify
Please indetify
if its me you want,
standing by your side
Identify
These tears of mine
Am I lonely? or am I just alive?
Am I lonely? or am I just alive

Sweet So I Can Have Peace

I feel terrible, the story I'm reading keeps me in suspense
because it does not make any sense, the unhappiness of
the characters suffering terrible passion and despair gives
me a headache, I don't believe anyone could be so upset
without falling ill; authors always give their characters too
much to bear, I cannot imagine so much intrigue in reality
without complete physical collapse

I make things charming and sweet so I can have peace yet
still take note of what others do to break the boredom of an
ideal existence, too much safety is just as bad as too much
pain, though I am fanatically opposed to suffering, the result
is that we are enriched by the wisdom it brings and the new
perspective that grows out of it makes me see the interesting
world in a different way, variety is

The spice of life - for me - in any case…

That pain exists is necessary Lord (in reply to Breyten Breytenbach)

That pain exists is necessary Lord,
as it purifies me
and the more I suffer the nearer it brings me,
it brings You nearer to me

and at times Your crucifixion is too terrible
to understand, it torments me
to think that mere man
could act so mercilessly, so revolting,
like the deranged could shout and scream
to kill You, Lord
and some of them murderous
leaning forward and jump up and down

and although Your death is a realisation
of many prophecies,
Your suffering paid the price for the lot of man,
I am still lost
in your unselfish love
that demands from Your Father
to leave the perpetrators without reckoning,
the people that were spitting on You,
the people that hated You
and nobody can understand such deep love,
that does not turn around self, or own profit

but your pain and suffering was necessary Lord
and although some turn their backs on You
I beg You to keep me on the right way,
for Your help to unlearn my own conceit,
that is harming our relationship.
