Uprising Roots
Uprising roots,
Blue grass in the sky;
Uprising roots,
Love under the sea;
Uprising roots,
In the deep!
White in white and,
Black in black;
But, underrated by your love.
Seven years of hope!
On the blue mountains;
And to take up a trip to let it show,
But, life is like a journey to us all.
The roots of life,
To put the stereo on!
But, i have a long way to go.

THE FOURTH EYE
of
A post-conceptual poet.
My fondest hope is that 'Roots' may start black, white, brown, red, yellow people digging back for their own roots. Man, that would make me feel 90 feet tall.

House Of Secrets
[Intro]
oh no. no. let me go.
[hah hehe]
no. god no!
shut up!
[song]
shhhhhh. it's okay, it's okay.
this is our, dirty, little, secret.
we're all alone in the city
my hands are stoned with pity
i could get by or get high with fifty [yeah]
and i don't feel pretty ... today.
and there's a lady in a stable
her daddy reads her fables
about the moon & his bride
he's in her room every night
& feeds upon a table
of silken robes
an altar of stone
but the child is unable
to run, run, run
& flee his tower of babel
so blood, blood, blood
slithers down her ankles ...
we're all alone in the city
my hands are stoned with pity
i could get by or get high with fifty [yeah]
and i don't feel pretty ... today.
come one
come all
witness the fall!
cry to the sky!
today we break away!
uprising!
uprising!
uprising!
in the house of secrets!
what happens here, stays here
say nothing, disappear!
uprising!
uprising!
locked away
in the chamber of the hysterics
here, in the house ... of secrets.
we're all alone
& i will tell you of loneliness.
[shhhh.]

So Far Across The Sea
Africans at home and abroad!
Physical,
Spiritual,
Culture and heritage,
Uprising roots,
Recorded;
Destination,
But, everything occuring now is part os prophecy.
Love is that thing,
To check-in and to check-out!
Summer time,
Winter time,
African stars! !
Legends,
Living legends;
For, there is a land so far across the sea.

Hidden Roots
In Memory Of My Late Brother
William Verdun Harris
1941 - 2003
Today my mind seemed everywhere,
but on the job, I was doing.
It started in my childhood
and moved into my teenage years
and finally into my adulthood.
Along the way examining the roots
I had laid down all those years ago.
Unfortunately, they were not firm roots
and I drifted from here to there,
my heart never settling in any place I wanted as a home.
Within me, there was a struggle
and I knew not why, then it surfaced
in between the pages of a letter that came from far away.
It told me something
that at first I could not believe,
of how part of my past had been closeted from me.
I knew then where my roots lay
in a land far across the sea.
I travelled to meet my past,
but sadly, before I could cement those hidden roots
they were gone and part of me was taken away.
Now I often wonder what might happen years before
if I had known about those hidden roots.
How different would my life have been?
There is no way of telling
as I learned to late about those roots
and time has now run out.

No Tree Can Stand Tall Without Roots Spread!
Every seed sends roots first,
Finding for soil and ground
where it can stand firm and tall,
stand firm and tall if roots go
deep,
Spread wide to find The sap! single cell that carry life,
Give life to cells and tissues,
Shoot, barks, branches and
leaves,
feed the leaves exposing leaves
to light, Visible tree stands on exposed
roots, not roots visible, Man made boundaries, fence and
compound,
Can't prevent or limit roots or
branches,
Sometimes absorbing soil here,
Branch will extent to neighbouring house,
How one can limit the nature,
or confine growing tree to
narrow circle drawn by man?
So is every life on Earth!
Mankind is like forest of different trees,
Yet all roots of autotrophic trees
deep in the soil,
Only parasitic have those roots,
pierce other tree's heart! Dive deep into yourself,
O man! Can you survive without
Your roots?
know how you are here,
Is it the mortal parent brought
you here, Or your fate,
Only be grateful to their love and
care forever!

Roots
Roots natty roots
Dread binghi dread
I and I are the roots
Some are the dry wood
Fe catch up the fire
Whoa, lo ok at that
They need some dry wood
To cook up the raw food
Whoa, look at that
I got to survive
Inna dis man maniac downpression
Got to survive
In iration, yeah
Roots natty roots
Dread binghi dread
Remember that I and I are the roots
Some are wolf
Inna sheeps clothing
Whoa, look at that
Many are called
But only a few are chosen
Whoa, look at that
Nothing that dividers can do
Cant seperate us from our father
Whoa, look at that
You see, blood is thicker than water
Whoa, look at that
Got to survive
Inna disyah ghetto, yeah
Roots natty roots
Dread binghi dread
Remember that I and I are the roots
Roots natty roots
Dread binghi dread
Whoa, I and I are the roots
Some are leaves
While some are branches
But remember I and I are the roots
Some are dry wood
Fe catch up the fire
Whoa, look at that
Got to survive
Inna dis man maniac downpression
Got to survive
In iration
Roots natty roots
Dread binghi dread
Hey, I and I are the roots
Ooh we, roots natty roots
Dread binghi dread
Oh yeah, I and I are the roots

Uprooting...
she stands outside the house
leaning on the post of the gate which is painted white
it is raining
she is looking at the roots of the palm tree which she had just
caused to be uprooted
because she is weak and cannot even cut one of those
which was planted here
many years back
she demands that all the roots be taken away
not one root must be left
so she can sleep well tonight
i think i know what she wants to drive at the state of things now
she is filled with hate and longs for the time that love again shall fill her up
she is no longer the same
her eyes are red but they are no longer crying.

Sorrow Seeks...
Sorrow Seeks...
Sorrow seeks...
Like the roots of weeds
And as the roots grow deeper
the weight descends
Like gnarled hands grasping at your throat
Choking out the beauty within
A dandelion with a face that glows of golden sun
But within the soil it's roots grow so deep
With one pluck you think it is gone for good
Only to return stronger than before
Sorrow seeks...
Like the roots of weeds

I'm A Water Grass
Deep down, my roots
Penetrate the river belly
Water I brave, in vicious floods
I flex, smart and steady
I wouldn't loose roots
I'm a water grass, here to stay.

We Trace Our Roots
there are ways of tracing our roots
where we come from
why we are here
how our forefathers braved
the seas and survived the big waves
of uncertainties
the cold, dark nights of their fears
how they all believed in dreams
how they trusted the direction given by the stars
how they solidified their hearts
with faith and hope
and love
as i listen to all of you talk about the stories
of our ancestors
my mind begins to to grow and travel
like roots
deep down the earth
tracing some humus
where i must live again
perhaps ever braver than the pioneers
they are our ancestors
and i think, they still believe that since we come from them
we must all be like them,
my dear cousin, now we have become the roots ourselves
and another child shall come
in the future
and listen some more, wanting to become branches and leaves and flowers

Even In The Driest Of The Desert
out there
in the driest part of the desert
a flower still thrives
thin leaves
and tiny petals
stalks like wires
and roots
penetrating the softness
of the sands
out there
it is preaching of hope
resiliency
some flowers are scarlet
deep blue
but nowhere can you find
black
black is the color of death
red is the color of
the wounded sands.

I am a man of black and white
I am a man of black and white,
my name is written on the gates of the sky.
i am a man of black and white
my origin is united, yet two apart.
I speak the language of the whites,
but lost in the language of the blacks.
i am a man of black and white,
my resemblance is same with the blacks.
I am a man of black and white,
i was brought up in the land of the whites.
i am a man of black and white,
my home is in the south-east, in the abode of my black dad.
I am a man of black and white,
i love the aspirations of life.
i am a man of black and white,
although two apart, we are united as one.

Black and White (Stream XV)
I have black thoughts,
It is a black day,
A day when the black dog
Coal black, hovers at my shoulder.
I shoulder the burden.
Deep in the black hole.
Black as a black hearted night.
Negative.
Stark.
Black and white.
I do not call my good days white days.
Why?
Or have white thoughts
On a white day,
When the white dog
Pure white sits upon my shoulder.
Which is unburdened.
Out of the pit,
Luxuriating in the bright white light;
White as the purest snow.
Positive.
For we live in a too white world
Maybe we should have grey days,
And light days.
Why should Black be negative and White poitive?
For me then, today is a grey day.
Maybe tomorrow will be a light day.

Black and White and Red
Black and White
And Red I see
Demons they do
Torture me
Black and White
And Red all day
The voices are real
Or so they say
Black and White
And Red abound
I'm lost I call
I'm never found
Black and White
And Red flow out
I scream but you
Don't hear me shout
Black and White
And Red so bright
Exit blood and
Enter light
Black and White
And Red of death
Now I breathe
My final breath

Black and White
My world is black and white,
The colors I see is black and white,
Hold me tight,
Don’t let me go,
See the tears I have cried,
Listen to my cry,
Look into my eyes,
My world is black and white,
Cut my wrist,
Black my eyes,
Blacken these thoughts I think of,
Black and white is all I can see,
The tears is all I can feel,
Feel me fading away,
Watching myself falling apart,
Look deep into my eyes,
Can you see me,
Can you feel the pain I feel,
I don’t understand why I am feeling this sad,
All the moments that once we shared has faded away like others have,
I never did tried to see the beyond the black and white clouds,
I need to face what I have become,
I need to find my way back,
The black and white is all I can see and feel,
My world has been black and white.

Make love with me
The reality of your dream
Is a mask turned backward
Black over white, black over white
Love over pain, love over pain.
Hey, take me to yourself.
The dream of my reality
Is the backward of that mask
Turned backward
White over black, white over black
Pain over love, pain over love.
Hey, come to myself.
Come to self in self
In that place where
Everything can be
Black into white when is taken from us
Or white into black when is given to us.
Love into pain when is given to us.
Or pain into love when is taken from us.
Look to the mask
Intangible
Me
And
You
Alw ays the same
Looking for myself
Through you
And looking for yourself
Through me.
In that place where
Everything can be
Sometimes
Black without white and white without black
Or pain without love and love without pain
In losing control.
