Americans want grungy people, stabbing themselves in the head on stage. They get a bright bunch like us, with deodorant on, they don't get it.

Giggles, Laughter and Stabbing Stares

Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
It would kill them to be nice,
It would hurt them to be kind,

Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
The notes are being passed around,
They don’t see, no one cares,

Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
Tearing at all I’ve built up,
But it won’t work anymore,

Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
What they don’t know is,
I just don’t care,

Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
Every one is doing it,
But I just sit and laugh,

Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
It’s so funny they think I care,
They are stupid to think I do,

Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
I laugh and laugh
Because they don’t see that no one cares,

Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares…
Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares…
Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares…

The Brady Bunch

You can watch mr. rogers
You can watch threes company
And you can turn on fame or the nelywed game
Or the addams family
I say, you can watch barney miller
And you can watch your mtv
And you can watch till your eyes fall out of your head
Thatll be ok with me
And you can watch (tv)
You can watch johnny carson
You can watch phil donahue
And you can use tv guide to help you decide
With capsulized review
Say, you can watch 60 minutes
Even captain kangaroo
But theres only one set, so what ever you watch
Well, you know I gotta watch it too
Say, give it up, give it up, televisions taking its toll
Thats enought, thats enough, gimme the remote controll
I been nice, I been good, please dont do this to me
Turn it off, turn it off, I dont want to have to see
The brady bunch
Not the brady bunch
Well, the brady bunch
Yeah, the brady bunch
Its the story of a lovely lady
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls
All of them had hair of gold, like their mother
The youngest one in curls
Its a story of a man named brady
Who was busy with three boys of his own
They were four men living all together
Yeah, but they were all alone
Until the one day, one day when the lady met the fellow
And they knew, and they knew it was much more than a hunch
Then they knew this group must somehow form a family
Thats the way, thats the way, thats the way they all became
The brady bunch
Well, the brady bunch
Yeah, the brady bunch
Well, the brady bunch
Oh, its the brady bunch
Its the brady bunch
Oh, the brady bunch, yeah
Oh, the brady bunch
Its the brady bunch
Well, its the brady bunch
Well, its the brady bunch
Well, its the brady bunch
Its the brady bunch

Getting Over Stage Fright

People say imagine people naked
to get over stage fright,
I say imagine people like little suns
shining bright.
All of them bright orange beaming light,
on to my act for they make me look right,
Right to the character on my right hand,
She is the one who doesn’t understand.
Understand humans for she makes fun of them,
she only has her bat, she has no friends.
So feel for me on the stage,
I’m next to an evil puppet who’s filled with rage.

I've been on stage since I was 7. That's where I'd rather be than anywhere else. Just because you can do a bunch of things doesn't mean you are a bunch of things. I can act. I can sing. But I am a dancer.

At A Certain Point In Your Life

you go around
your room
and then to the kitchen

you look carefully
on each object
that you see

the rexona deodorant,
the knife,
the garlic and the onions
some rice grains
on the sink

you look at them
and they are all messy
you even think
the deodorant's place
is not in the kitchen

there are wrong
placements and you
want them changed
by you
you want something
proper
things in their places

you simply look
at each of them
and they are all alive
talking to you

they know
you do not have the time anymore
and they are so sorry for you
saying
goodbye

One Bright Day

One bright day the people together
one bright day the people together
one bright day the people together
one bright day the people together
There will be celebrations around the nations
love without no care
there will be singing, plenty swining
live witout that fear
One bright day the people together
one bright day the people together
yes it was one bright day
yes it is one bright day
There is music, you choose it, love it,love it
hear this music, don't loose it, love it,love it
One bright day the people together
one bright day the people together
Hey, unnuh see the one bright day, South Africa free
Believe me, one bright day, drugs free country
Make it to the one bright day
a said the struggle to the one bright day
struggle to the one bright day
struggle to the one bright day
Make it to the two bright days
make it to thre-------ooh
lord, the people got together
the people got together
So there can be, many, many, years and years and years

Lil' Boys, Tiny Birds and BB Guns

One little wide-eyed boy
One tiny bright-eyed bird
One new little “Red Ryder” bb gun
One tearful choked-back word

The word was “noooo! ! ”
Both a plea and refusal in one
A heart-rending realization of
A deed that could not be undone

“Sorry! I’m so, so, sorry! ”
Sobbed the sad little boy
As he watched once-bright eyes
Slowly glazing

Tiny head slowly drooping
Now dull eyes sightlessly gazing
But the die alas
Was coldly cast

Twas the first time in life
the boy had to bury something
But It would’na
be the last

Time passes
people change
Inexorably, we pass
from stage to stage

And little boys
with little toys
Begin to grow up (sadly)
and come of age

Change Your Deodorant, Oh God!

Change my heart O God
Make it ever true
Change my heart O God
May I be like you

Change my heart O God
Make it ever true
Change my heart O God
May I be like you

You are the potter and I am the clay
Mold me and make me
This is what I pray

Change my heart O God
Make it ever true
Change my heart O God
May I be like you

You are the potter and I am the clay
Mold me and make me
This is what I pray

Change my heart O God
Make it ever true
Change my heart O God
May I be like you

Change my heart O God
Make it ever true
Change my heart O God
May I be like you

1982 Eddie Espinosa Mercy Publishing

My rewrite of the song above, Change My Heart O God, by Eddie Espinosa

Change your deodorant, oh God!
'Cause you stink to high heaven
Oh baby, you know that it's true
You just gotta
Gotta change your deodorant, oh God!
'Cause I really really can't stand anymore
The rotting stench of you

Change your deodorant, oh God!
'Cause you stink to high heaven
Oh baby, you know that it's true
You just gotta
Gotta change your deodorant, oh God!
'Cause I really really can't stand anymore
The rotting stench of you

Honestly, hon, you smell like you just got finished smoking pot
Or taking part in some down and dirty sex play
When you walk past me
Honestly, you make me
So ill that I fall to my knees and start to pray

Change your deodorant, oh God!
'Cause you stink to high heaven
Oh baby, you know that it's true
You just gotta
Gotta change your deodorant, oh God!
'Cause I really really can't stand anymore
The rotting stench of you

Honestly, hon, you smell like you just got finished smoking pot
Or taking part in some down and dirty sex play
When you walk past me
Honestly, you make me
So ill that I fall to my knees and start to pray

Change your deodorant, oh God!
'Cause you stink to high heaven
Oh baby, you know that it's true
You just gotta
Gotta change your deodorant, oh God!
'Cause I really really can't stand anymore
The rotting stench of you

Change your deodorant, oh God!
'Cause you stink to high heaven
Oh baby, you know that it's true
You just gotta
Gotta change your deodorant, oh God!
'Cause I really really can't stand anymore
The rotting stench of you

Can’t Sleep

I couldn’t sleep at Big Bear Lake,
I ate a cheese steak and a chocolate cake,
boy that was a big mistake.
I kept tossing and turning in bed all night,
until the sun came out and was really bright.
I knew the next I would be on stage in front
of a hundred or more,
I didn’t know what was in store.
Would my act be too kiddy for the comic bunch,
I usually performed in front of kids before lunch.
The act did get some laughs and photos were shot,
of me and Melodie on stage where it was hot.
Hot with lights shining down on us,
we both story told a tale without a fuss.
Now I wrote this poem which I thought would be short and sweet,
it was a fun and interesting time at Big Bear Lake
I just can’t have cheese steak and chocolate cake.

0296 Casting for a new production

The second act went really well tonight,
pity it’s so near the end of the run,
it’s good enough for a West End transfer;
they’re a good bunch when we work together

no thanks, not tonight old man –
got some TV ad lines to learn,
well it’s good money for old rope…
seeyer chizmate

make-up off, stage door chat –
after a good perf., who wants to pub it,
hear yet again about how they triumphed together
in Romeo and Juliet god how many years ago
looking at them now – obscene..

*

When people used to tell me
how old people sat lost to the world
in a golden haze of memory,
I used to think
borING..! not me, not on your life…

but it’s not quite like that:
a touch of unexpected thought
may clothe loved actors in a new-stitched garb –
before you took the stage and they
were cast by you as your supporting roles –

they too were Romeo and Juliet,
throwing the curtains open on their red-eyed dawn…
and you, not even yet the twinkle
in the future’s eye…
they’d played the serving-maid, the page,
the jaunty clown, the flirt, the on-off, bright-eyed savagery -
the toilers in the burning, dusty sun,
the heroes in a life of war and peace,
had hopes you never knew or asked,
and then, invited you to join their cast…

these were such unknown people, just
as unimportant as you are seen as, now…
but loved, by those you never knew or thought of…

now, in your lean and slippered age
you can re-read their lines,
these fellow actors whom you thought
because they loved you, that you were their life…
now, as you re-write the stories of their lives,
cast them as beloved strangers
