The Mystery
This is your cup—the cup assigned to you
From the beginning. Nay, my child, I know
How much of that dark drink is your own brew
Of fault and passion. Ages long ago—
In the deep years of yesterday,—I knew.
This is your road—a painful road and drear.
I made the stones—that never give you rest;
I set your friend in pleasant ways and clear,
And he shall come, like you, unto my breast;
But you—my weary child!—must travel here.
This is your task. It has no joy nor grace.
But is not meant for any other hand,
And in my universe hath measured place.
Take it; I do not bid you understand;
I bid you close your eyes—to see my face.

These Roads
Walking thru these streets
meeting crossroads of hope and some of loss
will i take the right road
will i venture into the curves and bumps carved into the foundation formed from years of repetitive travel
I am not the only one who travels these roads
passing by with tears in their eyes are ones who travel with hope in their hearts to find that glimpse of happiness and sanity in for which they look
I must indure my sentance of weary travel
my friend we shall not travel this road alone
take my hand for we shall walk this road together till we reach the end.

Eyes of a child
Eyes of a child
Such gems in stones
Staring you close
Still as blue sky
They don't lie
Their sun is shining
While you are crying
Eyes of a child
Day or night
I got no light
Free as a child
I can be wild
Eyes of a child
Let them go, into the snow
Without your grace
There's a lot more to know
Just glance over their face
It's the eye of a child
Free and wild
Child don't think too much
Ain't no worry as such
Joy driven life they live
Half-a-soul they give
It's the eyes of a child
Free and wild
Save me child
Save me child
Set me free and wild
Eyes of my child

Lullaby
(duncan)
I give you stars and sunshine
A rainbow at your feet each time you rise
So dry your eyes
The house of yesterday is crumblin at my feet
But I dont mind, I had my time
I am but yesterday
And you my child, tomorrow
Theres nothing I can give you
For you have more than me
You are the truth within your youth
I watch you dance and playing
The little prince of all that you survey
Each night, each day
I am the good old days,
And you my child, tomorrow
If I have any future
It is within your eyes
Each time you smile
My child, my child
The hand of life will rock you
I brought you forth
And then my task was through
I give to you
This wondrous view
I am but yesterday
And you my child, tomorrow
And you my child, tomorrow
And you my child, tomorrow

The Story Of Nevermore
now I cast a hypnotic spell
to free a child from her hell
surrender now child fall deep in my spell
just come to me child and all will be well
rise now child in sleep you now come
walk now child thought your scenes stay numb
fall now child in to a peaceful dream
but nothing there is as it seems
even thought child in you dream all is right
really your body walks still throw the night
relax now child let that dream ease your mind
follow now child let my voice be your guild
don’t worry child my intentions are pure
you’ll be happy with me of that I am sure
I’m just so tired of being alone
I want a child all of my own
so sleepwalk now child to the pull of my charm
sleepwalk to me child you’ll be safe in my arms
nevermore child shall you cry out in pain
your old life will be lost but a new one will be gained
sleepwalk to me child you’ll be my daughter soon
find your way to me child by the light of the moon
sleepwalk to me child and I’ll show you my ways
all the things I can show you; you’ll be amazed
sleepwalk to me child your almost here
come to me child soon all will be clear
sleepwalk to me child come meet your new mom
soon the whole world will rest in your palm
I see you now child I have you in sight
I run to you child now all is right
your eyes are dazed child unseeing and blank
I can see you now child what a great daughter you’ll make
come to me child collapse in my arms
come to me child you’re safe now from harm
I hold you now child and cradle you close to my heart
I hum to you child as I carry you throw the dark
were home now dear child far from all you ones knew
were home now dear child only one thing left to do
I made this child a special potion just for you
and with it your life begins anew
drink this now child and let your past slip away
remember not one second not one moment or one day
your eyes close child as I release you from my spell
in conciseness you do not dwell
back in to slumber you fall ever so deep
I love how innocent you look in sleep
a new name you need child to mark your new life
you need a new name as you exist the light
your name is Nevermore My child Raven Nevermore
a name like none ever heard before
you are Raven Nevermore
a young witch of great power to explore
you are Raven Nevermore
my daughter now and evermore

It's A Hard Road
I jumped on the train
I left this old town
I escaped the rain
I'm no longer down
The wheels start to turn
My worries are gone
I have lots to learn
About the trail that I'm on
As I look around
I see my new friend
I know I am bound
To travel till the end
I'll travel south and I'll travel north
I'll travel east and I'll travel west
I just want to find the road that is best
The train it did slow
I'm in a new place
The moonlight does glow
On my tired face
It's time for me
To try and find a bed
It's time for me
To rest my weary head
Morning is here
There's sorting to do
I'll sound sincere
With my goodbye to you
I'll travel south and I'll travel north
I'll travel east and I'll travel west
I just want to find the road that is best
It's time to move away
I'm not satisfied
I've spent many a day
Finding a place to reside
There's a town on my mind
It's just down the track
No need to find
A way to get back
The train I will get
Sitting at the station
The future is set
I feel anticipation
I'll travel south and I'll travel north
I'll travel east and I'll travel west
I just want to find the road that is best

Since You Are Gone
Since you are gone the stones lie differently along the ground
and words that are the same now have a different sound
-and-
sharp and clear in early dawn there is a road I cannot travel on
Since you are gone- since you are gone
Since you are gone the path seems steeper still
there seems to be more brambles on our hill
More birds that do not sing
more incests that do sting
Since you are gone- since you are gone
Since you are gone the stones lie differently along the ground
-and-
Words that are the same
Now have a different sound
-and-
Sharp and clear in early dawn
There is a road I cannot travel on
Since you are gone- since you are gone
Palling winds, blow softly now, I dread
foreboding echos lament beside my bed
How soon the embers glow is lost-
how soon the darkness comes and frost
And sharp and clear in early dawn there is a road I cannot travel on
Since you are gone-
Since you are gone
There is a road I cannot travel on

The Road I Travel
With in my mind, I thought I knew
That I dare not travel back,
This road so dark, dim, and blue,
With trees, ever changing of truth.
This familiar path, so like a knack,
Within my mind. I thought I knew
The way down it and what I’ll do,
But all my thoughts seemed to lack
This road so dark, dim, and blue.
I tried to stray, to part from you,
With your spiteful cement, all black,
Within my mind. I thought I knew.
But I cannot, I won’t sort through
The sky of lies that make and crack
This road so dark, dim, and blue.
So vain, yet suddenly true.
To this place, I still travel back,
Within my mind. I thought I knew
This road so dark, dim, and blue.

Lonely Road
Tis dark and lonely,
Walking here alone.
This cold stony road
I have made my own.
Tis where the brave few
Dare to venture thru.
They walk here in search-
Search of life anew.
The coldness chills inside;
I grit my teeth and hold on.
Though sad and long, I make this road my own
Tis lonely out here,
To lean on, there's far and few.
So many times, i cry,
Screaming, 'Where are you? '
I want to turn around,
Quit and walk away.
The pressure is too much-
Too much for me to stay.
But then i see, o'er the hill
A faint glimering light.
Hope springs eternal
In the darkest of nights.
You come close and
I feel you take my hand,
Pull me up, help me fight.
You help me stand.
'My child, ' you whisper,
'I walked this road, still do.
Only now i walk it
Just to help you.'
I feel his might all around
As with faith renewed i push on.
Raise my hands high
As i cry,
'This lonely road i make my own.'
Let everyone leave me, l
Let them walk away.
I'm getting out of here, I wasn't meant to stay.
This lonely road is the only way home.
Walk it I must, even if I'm alone.
So hear it now, as I toil by, this lonely road, I make my own!
It's pain and hardship
I will do my best to bear,
I will keep pushing on
When there's no one nowhere.
Cause this lonely road
I made my own.

On the Way.
(- what follows is a true story. more a story than a poem. yet, one I have so wanted for so long to tell... -)
On the way
Southbound far into Texas.
It's a long stretch of asphalt,
When the night is late, and so dark
Out on highway 277, moving
From Sonora to Del Rio... and points further south.
Not another soul about,
Just me, my old truck, and the stars.
It's quiet
- and lonely -
Headed down old Mexico way...
Pass a car sitting on the side
- broke down I'm sure -
A coyote with fear and hunger in its eyes
Runs across the road, right in front of me.
Then, a mile or so up, I see him, walking,
Gas can in hand.
I stop, open the door and holler:
' need a lift? '
He simply says: ' gracias ' and climbs aboard.
I pull back out onto the empty road,
Start a conversation,
He smiles, and with very broken English
Does his best to respond.
It takes a spell but I soon understand
He is on his way to Mexico too,
- it is the old homeland for him -
His car ran out of gas,
And most important of all
His wife who is pregnant awaits his return...
in the car!
I offer to go back to get her.
He softly says no... he must get the gas.
The way he speaks, the way he moves,
Lends me to know, this is a gentle, hard-working man
- with a heart as big, and old, as all of Mexico -
More difficult conversation follows,
But, it is so well worth the effort;
I can't say quite why
But I have quickly grown to like and respect this good, simple man
- as if an amigo I've known from old -
He came north to find work,
Provide for his family.
I went south for rest,
And to find meaning.
But, things never work out exactly as planned.
They decided it important to have their nino
- so soon due -
In Mexico, among family, grandparents and such
- this is ofcourse as it should be -
They have little money,
And no friends up here;
If only they can make it back
To Old-Mexico.
Together, me and my new found friend,
Drive deep into the night,
Not once seeing another car.
It's a long, desolate way to a town
With an open gas station.
I am glad for the company of such an honest soul.
He is glad for the ride.
Twice along the journey we see a falling star
- 'good medicine' my red brothers would say -
One for him, and one for me.
Finally a station with lights aglow comes into view.
As we stop, he offers me a dollar
From the small stash of bills he has waded up in his pocket.
I ofcourse refuse,
And offer him much more in return
- ' a gift for the new baby ' I happily say -
or, gas money to get you home.
He smiles, sincerely thanks me,
And gently, proudly refuses.
- I wish he'd take it, I so want to give it -
I tell him I'll wait
And give him a ride back;
I think he feels he has burdened me too much already;
Ofcourse he has not at all,
This ride has been as much for me,
As for him
- God knows -
But, he insists someone here will give him a return ride.
I cannot change his resolute mind.
So, I wish him all the best,
Feeling I should say, and do,
Something more...
But I don't know what;
We shake hands
- and for just a brief moment of grace
we are hermanos, brothers of light in a dark world -
He closes the door.
Turns, with can in hand,
And slowly walks away...
On his own way, back to Old-Mexico.
I pull out onto the road.
The trip is now lonlier than ever.
In my own way, I too
Am on the way,
Back home
- to an old country, where I belong -
It's been nearly 30 years now,
I think of him often.
I wonder if he ever recalls me at all.
I wish I'd have gotten his name
...so I knew who to pray for...
I wish he'd have taken the money
...so his wife would have had enough to eat...
I wish I'd have given him the ride back
...so I knew they were safe...
I wonder how they are.
Did he find work?
Did he get caught up in revolution?
Is he still alive?
Was their child a boy or a girl?
- now a man or a woman -
I'm certain I shall never see him again,
in this world,
Yet, what if someday, by some great chance,
His child and my child should cross paths... along the way,
Fully unaware of the history of it all?
What if somewhere
On a lonley, dark desert night
His child gives my child a ride;
A ride that perhaps
- in ways unknown to any of us -
Saves them... saves us all...
What a deep mystery life is.
Could it possibly be
That every little deed we do,
On our way through,
To wherever it is we go,
Matters in ways
We may never, here, know?
- may we all find the Way,
on our way -

My gift of wedding anniversary..........
Since we married, our journey of life was
pleasant and sailed without any trouble
We know the day when we started our life
We were close to each other's hearts as a good life partners
But there were days we had gone through pain in our life
because no child had born to us for a long time.
You were very upset about me and tried to keep me away
You thought that I am incapable to give you a child
You treated me with unpleasant words and miserable life
Those roads were very hard for me to travel but I did it
Because my faith and love made me to over come all those obstacles
And today we are blessed with a baby boy and he is a God's child
When I see my child’s face then I forget all those mistakes
and pains that's you have given to me.
And still I treat you as my wonderful and loving husband
Since, eighteen years have been passed and our wedding
anniversary is due to fall shortly and let us pray God to give us long life
And let us forget all our past life of bitterness and look for a life
that will take us a joinery of LOVE with our ever loving baby.

Sicilian Lullaby
Hush, little one, and fold your hands;
The sun hath set, the moon is high;
The sea is singing to the sands,
And wakeful posies are beguiled
By many a fairy lullaby:
Hush, little child, my little child!
Dream, little one, and in your dreams
Float upward from this lowly place,--
Float out on mellow, misty streams
To lands where bideth Mary mild,
And let her kiss thy little face,
You little child, my little child!
Sleep, little one, and take thy rest,
With angels bending over thee,--
Sleep sweetly on that Father's breast
Whom our dear Christ hath reconciled;
But stay not there,--come back to me,
O little child, my little child!

More Time
The road to the hospital
seemed much too long,
as if we'd never arrive,
or take a road that was wrong.
And all the time I held the hand
of the dearest one to me,
praying silently beside him
so he could not see.
So many things ran through my head
of the years we spent together,
the ups the downs, all occasions
when our hearts were light as a feather.
And now my being was being torn apart.
My very own heart started to smart.
I knew this road and yet I did not.
For each time we took it I forgot
we were saved by a false alarm
as one more time you came to no harm.
For rainbows appear and disappear
and bring me hope again
that we will travel that road no more.
And we shall do everything that we can
to prolong our days in this place
in another timeless embrace.

Eyes Of A Child
The Eyes of a Child, so innocent and pure
A Child's heart is full of song
Take their tiny hands,
And lead them to the light
As Adults we see the pain in the world,
And sometimes it don't seem right.
But through the Eyes of a Child
The World seems magical
There's a sparkle in their eyes,
They've yet to realise,
The darkness in their soul.
..the Beauty of their smile
Adventurous and wild.
Life is kinda gay,
but it doesn't seem that way,
Through the Eyes of a Child.
So, don't give up
Even when the road seems long
Just find that child inside you
You've got to find you.
Spread your wings and fly, to the brightest star
If ya want, I can even get my friend Steve to detail your car
for about twenty bucks.
Through the Eyes of a Child
The World seems magical
There's a sparkle in their eyes,
They've yet to realise,
The darkness in their soul.
The Beauty of their smile,
Adventurous and wild.
Sure, life is kinda gay,
but it doesn't seem that way,
Through the Eyes of a Child.
Got an eye on my hand!
I've got an eye on my hand!
I've got an eye on my hand!
But still i cant find you!
An eye on my hand!
Where have you gone girl?
An eye on my hand!
I'm coming up behind you.
Eye on my hand!
Don't turn around now,
Cause I'm right there,
I'm coming up behind you!
Through the Eyes of a Child
The World seems magical
There's a sparkle in their eyes,
We've yet to realise,
The bastards they really are!
The Beauty of their smile,
Adventurous and wild.
Sure, life is kinda gay,
But it doesn't seem that way,
Through the Eyes of a Child.
Sure, life is kinda gay,
but it doesn't seem that way,
Through the Eyes of a Child.

Broken child
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who has seen more than his young eyes should.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who would run away from it all if he could.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who has been ravished by the likes of you and I.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child with to much pride to cry.
I see the face off a broken child.
a child who fights off anyone who cares.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who wishes his mother was there.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who wont let his hardships keep him down.
I see the face of a broken child.
A child who refuses to give up and reveal a frown.

Missing You
(lionel richie)
Since youve been away
Ive been down and lonely
Since youve been away
Ive been thinking of you
Trying to understand
The reason you left me
What were you going through?
Im missing you
Tell me why the road turns
Ooh ooh
Im missing you
Tell me why the road turns
As I look around
I see things that remind me
Just to see you smile
Made my heart fill with joy
Ill still recall
All those dreams we shared together
Where did you run to, boy?
Im missing you
Tell me why the road turns
Ooh ooh
Im missing you
Tell me why the road turns
Sometimes Ive wondered
I didnt understand
Just where you were trying to go
Only you knew the plan
And I tried to be there
But you wouldnt let me in
But now youve gone away boy
I feel so broken hearted
I knew the day we started
That we were meant to be
If only youd let me!
Ive cried so many tears
Gotta face now all my fears
We let time slip away
I need you boy
Here today!
There was so much you gave me
To my heart
To my soul
There was so much of your dreams
That were never told
You had so much hope
For a brighter day
Why were you my flower
Plucked away
Im missing you
Tell me why the road turns
Ooh ooh
Im missing you
Tell me why the road turns

A child's Suffering
The intense flame of withering blooms,
In deep essence of those in tombs.
A child like figure in darkness's shadow,
As his eyes as yellow as cat's eyes glow.
Death takes him home into the deep,
to a never ending painful sleep.
The child's voice heard through my dreams,
His voice so painful as he screams.
Why an innocent child has to suffer,
no child deserves this life so hard and so much rougher.
But the father's disgrace chose the child's path,
Taking the child into a blood bath,
the child cries as the burning goes on,
Forever from dusk to dawn.

A Long And Lonely Road
At times, there's a long and lonely
road to travel down, before we can
come to a rest. Many things may
catch up with you, that put you to
the test. You have to stop and give
it a pause, before another step is
made. And when you come to any
conclusion, you just might make
the grade. We're creatures of
habit, so we worry, before the day
is through. But if we'd consider the
over all picure, it's not the wisest
thing to do. I guess we all have to
travel down, that long and lonely
road, to come to our senses. And
if we can accomplish that, we'll be
able to mend, a lot of fences!

My Secret Joy
If it were not for you
It seems that every day would be
A life unfulfilled.
Winter then forever and no smile of spring.
An icy lake without a melted heart within.
You are my secret joy.
When first I saw your face
A satisfaction took the place of sad distraction.
I knew my mind had been in a phase of leaving,
You drew me back a pace, with you I saw commitment,
This time there could be no dreaming,
No time for grieving what was past.
My secret joy was here with me.
So many times, I saw her face in your face.
That special wisdom of her eyes in your eyes,
I knew a child I thought was gone for always
Had brought joy home.
I watch you watch the joy you have made
Wonder if you know the joy that you gave
Would like you to know that the joy that you made
Is my joy too.
However long before the joy that you made.
That little blue the two of you gave.
I had a little joy of my own.
Even though the joy that I made,
Has gone the road that life takes.
Singing love songs to the joys of her own,
I see reflections of the Joy that I made,
In the eyes and the heart of the Joy, she has made.
I can see pink joy reflected in blue joy,
When I see it.
My secret joy.
