The Temple Of Zhuge Liang

Zhu-ge's great name
hangs over the whole world;
the revered statesman's portrait
awes with its sublimity.
The empire carved into thirds
hindered his designs,
yet he soars through the ages,
a lone feather in the sky.
He is brother to such greats
as Yi Yin and Lu Shang;*
if he had established control,
Xiao and Cao would be forgotten.
But the cycle had passed; Han fortunes
could not be restored.
His military strategy a failure,
his hopes dashed, his body perished.

my brother PJ

My brother my life, my soul, my blood. A love between a sister and a brother is far beyond any. My brother a creation of God and the unexplainable mysters of his work. My brother was molded by the tender guiding hands, love and sprit of our divine Lord above.
My brother was given life a soul body and mind. This great myster of life that was created is slowly weathering away with the poision, That Doctors call cancer. He is my brother a young man of 34 who has to fight for the life that was giving. With a smile on my face to hide the pain, and Our great Lord in my heart i think God for one more day that my brother is able to see. Though are hearts my break and we may question one of lifes greats mysteries just remember God will not give you anything that you are unable to handle, Have faith and let him guid your heart. he will never let you falter. Ode

We are the music-makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems.

With wonderful deathless ditties
We build up the world's great cities,
And out of a fabulous story
We fashion an empire's glory:
One man with a dream, at pleasure,
Shall go forth and conquer a crown;
And three with a new song's measure
Can trample an empire down.

We, in the ages lying
In the buried past of the earth,
Built Nineveh with our sighing,
And Babel itself with our mirth;
And o'erthrew them with prophesying
To the old of the new world's worth;
For each age is a dream that is dying,
Or one that is coming to birth.

Art

For Gladstone's portrait five thousand pounds
Were paid, 't is said, to Sir John Millais.
I cannot help thinking that such fine pay
Transcended reason's uttermost bounds.

For it seems to me uncommonly queer
That a painted British stateman's price
Exceeds the established value thrice
Of a living statesman over here.

Road Song of the Bandar-Log

Here we go in a flung festoon,
Half-way up to the jealous moon!
Don't you envy our pranceful bands?
Don't you wish you had extra hands?
Would n't you like if your tails were -- so --
Curved in the shape of a Cupid's bow?
Now you're angry, but -- never mind,
Brother, thy tail hangs down behind!

Here we sit in a branchy row,
Thinking of beautiful things we know;
Dreaming of deeds that we mean to do,
All complete, in a minute or two --
Something noble and grand and good,
Won by merely wishing we could.
Now we're going to -- never mind,
Brother, thy tail hangs down behind!

All the talk we ever have heard
Uttered by bat or beast or bird --
Hide or fin or scale or feather --
Jabber it quickly and all together!
Excellent! Wonderful! Once again!
Now we are talking just like men.
Let 's pretend we are... never mind,
Brother, thy tail hangs down behind!
This is the way of the Monkey-kind.

Fifth Commandment

“Honor thy Father and Mother”
Wise words, for those that heed
Ignored, as brother kills brother
For on the breast of war they feed

For eons women have met dishonor
Their body, men rape and plunder
Power hungry men who will barter
Wives/children, then sit and ponder;

When?

Patriarchal rule of Earth shall cease
Masculine/Feminine balance restored
Warring Nations frame a lasting peace
Retire weapons, of their own accord

Behold!

Mother of men/Mother Earth again revered
No more shall they be abused and domineered

What is the end of each man's toil,
Brother, O Brother?
A handful of dust in a bit of soil-
His name forgotten as centuries roll,
Though blazoned to-day on Glory's scroll;
For the lordliest work of brain or hand
Is only an imprint made on sand;
When the tidal wave sweeps over the shore
It is there no more,
Brother, my Brother.

Then what is the use of striving at all,
Brother, O Brother?
Because each effort or great or small
Is a step on the long, long road that leads
To the Kingdom of Growth on the River of Deeds:
And that is the kingdom no man can gain
Till he uses his hand and his mind and brain,
And when he has used them and learned control
He finds his soul,
Brother, my Brother.

And after he finds it, what is the end,
Brother, O Brother?
Upward ever its course and trend;
For this is the purpose and aim and plan
To seek in the soul for the Super-man-
The man who is conscious that Heaven is near-
A bulletin bearer from There to Here,
Finding God dwells in the spirit within
Where He ever has been,
Brother, my Brother.

And what will the God-man do when He comes,
Brother, O Brother?
He will better the world or in courts or slums,
He will do in gladness his nearest duty:
He will teach the religion of love and beauty
In field or factory, mine or mart,
While He tells the world of the larger part
And the wider life that is yet to be
When spirit is free,
Brother, my Brother.

When spirit is free, then where will it go,
Brother, O Brother?
Its uttermost summit no man may know,
For it goes up to God in His holy Tower
To gather more knowledge and force and power;
Like a ray of the sun it shall shine again
To brighten new planets and races of men.
Life had no beginning, life has no end,
Brother and friend-
Brother, my Brother.

Nothing Natural About It At All

That portrait painted,
Hangs much too low,
The light from it appears to be shaded.
Where did the gleeming smiles,
And the brightness go?

Those sloping lush hills,
Seemed so green just yesterday.
Even when the clouds and rain came near...
None of it on this portrait showed.
The rays of the Sun,
Were then so clear.

Wasn't the Sunrise on the horizon,
Full of vivid promises free of duels?
And who came to smear a tinge of darkness upon it?
That had to have been just after noon.

The peaks of mountains,
Snowcapped and strong?
There is something about it,
That will not be prolonged.
The melting of snow,
Seems to have gone.

What 'is' this?

Something about it,
Has to be stopped.

I can see in its future,
This portrait is going to be forgotten.
Snatched off the wall.
And its presence remembered...
From memories dropped.

That can not be the same portrait!
Seen now to hang so pitifully.
Tilted, in a lopsidedness.
That brings not a hint of joy to me.

Is this someone's idea,
Of a joke to provoke?
My atmosphere...
Is not a place to invite tears?
The sweeping of the strokes...
Has abandoned its meaning.
To another scene in a secret elope.

That portrait painted,
Hangs much too low,
The light from it appears to be shaded.
Where did the smiles,
And the brightness go?

HELLO!
...hello...hello...hello...

Even the echos once heard from the valleys,
Aren't responding with a clarity.
Rich and reflective.

This is not an original.
This one is absolutely faked.
Who is trying to exhibit this image?
To pass it as something great?

Take it away from this place.
Get rid of it.
And tear down that wall.
It makes me sick.

It has become too common.
It blocks out all that's right.
There's nothing natural about it at all.
It conflicts with the ambiance.
And this ambiance...
Does not invite blight!

Get rid of it now!
More light is what I wish.
Take that piece of trash and burn it.
After its been dumped,
To cover the fumes...
In a dirt covered ditch!

The Skies Fell Silent

Written in memory of all those who perished in the 9/11 terror attacks.

Ten years have passed
since a day of infamy
that shook the world
and the skies fell silent.
It was a day the world mourned
and a war against terror began.
However, for weeks after
the skies fell silent,
not only of planes,
but birds as well.
It was as if nature
was paying its respects
for those who perished as well.
It was not until the planes flew again
did we see birds again in the sky.

9 September 2011

Author’s Note:

My late brother brought the lack of birds to my attention. He made me search the skies for them and I did not see any. I have no explanation for the phenomena only that it happened.

A death not menace

You were business tycoons
Your empire was at the height shined in noon
It was associated with pride
It was open fact and was nothing to hide

As an individual you had thrown complete weight
You had lion’s share to take it to its height
Nobody could do it as you did
You had provided great impetus and lead

What else you needed in life at later stage
The years were passing off to touch the age
You did your level best to build the empire
No one could ignore you to admire

You were best as good administrator but no humanist
You did all to make it success and insisted
It was brilliant show put up ever by anybody
You were not careful for your existence and body

It has taken heavy toll and now you regret your life
Thought it was tough and like double edged of knife
You sailed through smoothly with all the odds against
You excelled in all the climate and served as best

You failed to realize that human body has some restrictions
It can work full time with innumerable instructions
If need be many nights can be spent on the spot
It is done only to speak about your ability a lot

When person is established fully in establishment
He needs to change and live in different environment
All hectic movements can be brought to some shift
It must be done smoothly without creating a rift

You miss the opportunity and it will prove a hell
Nothing may move positively and sound well
It is your down fall and sun is heading for decline
You can’t run for everything with all the inclination

The near ones may desert as you are proving failure
They have nothing to gain from you for sure
You were utilized at maximum level
You have nothing more to excel

You are in dilemma over your near end
You have created foes and no new friends
It was only great empire and nothing else
You lived under set pattern which has proved false

Before you could find cover
It has taken you over
You had no time left with to decide
You were on ground and simple tied

In few minutes time you will be consigned to flames
Not all people are to be cursed or blamed
It has come at the right time and at place
You had lost all the opportunities and race

Farewell To A Feather

I too say farewell to a feather as it floats off.
Traveling distance unknown.
Will I see her again?
I just don't know.
With cards that can't be yet read.
The fortune is in play.
But I can not make it go my way.
In a game of fairness she was quite pretty.
But was it enough to give chase?
A search of the world for but a single feather.
Only to end in failure, when they're so many more.
The only wasted chance is the one not taken.
