Sonnet: Excess is bad
Oh, how much food can man ingest a day?
When excess spells disease, shortens lifespan!
How much of drink can he consume en way?
When lips are no more parched and thirst leaves man!
How much of luxury can man enjoy?
When pain threshold is falling day by day!
How much of sex can fill man’s heart with joy?
When lust unleashed, he cannot keep at bay!
How much desire can man satisfy?
For, time is short and vices strangle him!
How much of sins must man commit to die?
And make his life on Earth and Heaven dim.
Good deeds and virtues, man must multiply!
Cost of the berth for Soul with One most High.

Sonnet: Let Goodness Always Prevail
The mammoth trees are cut for timber's sake;
Large trees along the roads are felled as well;
The smaller ones in wild now grow and swell;
Then clouds to pour the rain, how can God make!
When virtues aren't nurtured in life sometime,
Then vices grow with vengeance in man's heart;
When bells of praise and hymns to God don't chime,
Blessings and grace from heaven can't depart.
When man's good deeds are stopped for reasons much,
His sins grow from a mole to mountain size;
How can the Maker's favours ever touch,
As sins abound and soul afills with vice?
For God to bless, our righteousness must grow,
And seeds of virtues, good deeds, one must sow!

Sonnet: Our Aim in Life
No one is impregnable against sin;
No one is destined to be a saint at birth;
Battles against temptations, we must win,
And live life less impulsively on earth.
The Soul is fortified by grace from God,
And virtues make it more impregnable;
While walking in the shadow of the Lord
Our trek to Heaven is made possible.
Repent, we must therefore for failures/ sins;
Our venial sins take us to Purgatory;
Let gaze be steady; we must never wince;
The devils know the knack of oratory.
And yet, the hand of God will safeguard us,
From temptations and any unknown curse.

Man, Blame Thyself…
Isn’t man, the cause of problems that he sees?
Isn’t man himself the cause of his own sins?
Isn’t man alone the cause of many woes?
Isn’t man who made the planet earth hell-like?
When man deforests earth – home to wild-life,
Wild beasts in search of food enter his fields;
Man raises hue and cry: ‘wild beasts attack! ’
He is the cause of rampaging wild-life!
When man pollutes the river-waters pure
Through effluents and sewage from cities,
Will not more diseases afflict more men,
And sicknesses multiply upon earth?
When man develops habits of sins galore,
He turns a slave to devils and serves them;
Estranged from God, the blessings from heaven
Can’t come in time and ways, he wants them to!
Blame thyself man, for making good earth bad!
Your soul devoid of grace is sure hell-bound!
God allows strife, reminding you your ways
Are not in accordance with His tenets!
So, mend your evil ways and plead to God;
You have to make amends, repent a lot;
Ask forgiveness for sins and walk aright;
For, narrow is the road to heaven, man!

Sonnet: Life’s Dilemma
I’m caught between the twain of God/money!
Between my duty and my selfishness;
Between life’s bitterness and it’s honey;
Between my charity and greediness.
I’m caught between my honesty and lies!
Between my ambitions and sacrifice;
Between life’s virtues, evils/ bad advice;
Between good deeds and bad ones that entice.
I’m caught between my pangs of sin/good deeds;
Between material things and those divine;
Between corporeal and of soul’s needs;
Between the calls of God and thoughts of mine.
I’m caught between the devils and my God!
’Tween Hell and Heaven’s Eternal reward.

Sonnet: One can’t be both
A fruit is rotten, partially/ in full;
A dress looks ugly, if there are some holes;
A person can’t be bright as well as dull;
One can’t remain at same instant, in poles!
A face looks awful with freckles or dots;
A cradle-baby shouldn’t be found in bins!
A heart isn’t pure, if it has sinful thoughts;
A soul can’t be in heaven with some sins.
Good man with vices isn’t called ‘good’ at all;
Bad man with virtues is a ‘bad’ one still;
Most Holy God sees sin as massive ‘wall’;
One can’t go to heaven as well as hell!
God’s Kingdom is impeccably all pure;
Sin’s cancer when advanced, defies a cure!

Sonnet: Heaven’s Our Goal
Oh, never mind if you’re just a cipher,
In things of earthly mould and clay domain;
Your origin’s from clay- well decipher!
Your soul off sin, you always must regain.
And like a Phoenix, you must rise from dust,
Tho’ dead by sin, a mountain-load in weight;
For, victory with the devil is a must,
And love of God will arrange for souls freight.
How can one live in luxury on earth,
And be a saint all life at the same time?
How can one attain Heaven without birth,
Or do misdeeds, yet make one’s life sublime?
What if you gain the world but lose your soul?
For Salvation to each one is prime goal.

The Lenten Season
Forty days has Lent each year,
For the soul to God endear;
Confess sins to God to hear;
Live a life pure without fear!
Prayer is key primary;
Fasting cleanses mind, body;
One does good deeds, charity;
Heart gets grace and purity.
Time to introspect divine;
Reconcile with Christ, the Vine;
Let remorse make heart to pine
For repentance that turns life fine.
Like Jesus, let's fight devil;
Let us do no more evil;
Lent can heal the soul that's ill;
We must take heaven's road well!
Lent is gift of God that's lent,
And for deeds goods is just meant;
Soul must turn sinless and bent
Erasing stain and all dent!

Sonnet - Most Men Are Selfish
One state refuses water for the next!
But when it rains, the excess it must let!
Some people like to xerox-copy text!
Some force the state to write off all their debt.
Why can't one limit one's selfishness first?
Why can't one share the excess wealth one has?
Why can't one give water for men who thirst?
Who can prevent the growing of the grass?
Man becomes great by loving his neighbour;
Man turns greater when he helps him in need;
Man should not try to without reason err;
Good men avoid misdeeds but do good deed.
No Man doth bring anything when he is born;
His sins and good deeds, his soul shall adorn.

What is Lent?
Lent’s a special soul-time, God-lent!
Fervent prayers should rent the air to heaven;
Meant is Lent to mend and make amends in spiritual life;
Repent, empty your sins pent up;
Spent life should make way for an improved one.
Ask God’s forgiveness for all sins to the very last;
Control your mind and body through more fast;
Charity must become your life-ship’s main mast!
Bury the iniquities and life’s short-falls of the past;
Enrich your soul with grace of God vast!
Gain victory in your spiritual war;
Heal the soul’s sinful scar;
Prepare for heaven that’s not afar.

Sonnet: Living Wisely On Earth
I may remain a fool on earth altho’,
’Tis deliberately done you ought to know;
I can’t just live the way others want me,
For theirs isn’t the way to Eternity!
For money’s sake I can’t change my nature;
For transient joys, can I vices nurture?
The art of earthly life is to be good,
And search for God without losing one’s mood!
What if I gain the world losing my soul?
‘Do good and shame the devil’- is my goal;
This world I see is not a perfect one;
The sins we commit can sometimes us stun!
If happiness I can get on this earth,
Where is the need to seek the other Mirth?

Sonnet: Our Indian Jawans
For days and nights, they stay awake on end,
Trekking, marching, trudging, climbing terrain;
And strain their eyes to shoot and thus defend,
In marshy-land, forest, snow, sun or rain.
Though life was luxurious in times of peace,
’Tis war-time now, how life has become sad!
With scanty food, drink, clothes but much disease,
They move about some turning nearly mad.
This is the life of our Indian Jawans!
A life of sacrifice for country’s sake;
None can predict who lives/ dies, when peace dawns;
Each soldier fights with heart and soul, not fake.
Hats off, salute and sing a song of praise!
They die to make us live with happy face.

Sonnet- You Can't Have Opposites
When vices, virtues are but parallel lines,
The former moves backward, latter forward;
No one can take the mixture of such wines;
No one can be both fish and also bird.
There isn't a hybrid of vices, virtues;
There isn't a place where both of them can meet;
Just one and only one, a man must choose;
You can't have Heaven's joy and Hell's great heat!
The virtuous way is like climbing a hill;
The road to vice is like slipping from one;
While God rewards Heaven as former's bill,
The latter, yields hell's eternal fire-den!
One can't be both a good and bad a man;
You try to have Heaven and hell, how can?

Sonnet: Man Must Be Wise
Man thinks he is cleverer than his God!
Good deeds he does and commits too grave sins;
Presuming time will be offered by lord,
And the devils’ fight he can finally win.
Our God is so kind but He is Master;
He knows our heart’s depths and every small thought;
Much more than any man, God thinks faster;
Man can’t cheat God and to know this, he ought.
Our lifetime though long, yet appears so short;
Already some men live on borrowed time;
Till old age sets, his sins, man cannot cart
Man should repent fast to make life sublime.
Who knows purgatory still awaits some men;
’Tis wise to suffer here; go to Heaven.

When We Die!
Not a nickel can we take back, when we die!
All earthly things, we leave here upon earth;
All treasures must sometime uselessly lie;
Ephemeral’s the world in which we live!
Not an extra hour can we live, our way;
The Maker knows that moment when each leaves;
And death will snatch us stealthily one day;
The strongest monument will soon perish.
Our health will wane and fail us doubtlessly;
All pain, diseases end some day on earth;
Our labor cannot go on endlessly;
We separate from kith, kin, friend or foe!
Our span of life is finite in its length;
Our earthly suffering must end some time;
A minute more, we can’t add by own strength;
The day shall come when we take our last breath!
Just all the good and bad deeds done, we take;
Our mortal sins could steer our soul to hell;
The Maker knows the genuine hearts from fake;
The Lord decides each soul's eternity!

Sonnet: A Village-life is Better
A city-life has gone to dogs these days,
With problems of water, shelter and food;
The cost of living has gone up always;
The ‘luxury’ cannot keep one’s health good!
A village-life is far better to all;
Tho’ time ticks slowly, health is at its peak;
Yet, love and courtesy is maintained tall;
A simple livelihood, most farmers eke.
But still, men throng the cities all the time,
To live a discontented, worthless life?
And neither are the mind and soul sublime;
Man struggles much to combat daily strife.
So, why can’t men be level-headed then,
And live ’midst Nature’s plants, beasts, birds like wren?

A Child's Prayer to Jesus Lord
Jesus, come and make me well;
I am praying day and night;
You are truth and way and light;
Grant me heaven and not hell!
Jesus, heal my ailments all;
You can work miracles fast;
Ignore all my sins of past;
Help me listen to your call!
Jesus, take my grief and woes;
Life on earth is sorrowful;
Faith can make it beautiful;
Put my life back on due course!
Jesus, Lord and King of kings;
Savior of the human race;
God with thousand suns as face;
You provide my needed things!
Jesus, help me love you, God;
You can forgive me my sins;
Make my failures become wins;
Spare me from your fair, just rod!
Jesus, God one incarnate;
Born of Mary, virgin queen;
Make my soul-desert turn green;
Holy God, immaculate!
Jesus, Christ, Creator God;
Fill my empty life with joys;
Help me carry my life's cross;
God of love, you are my Lord!
Jesus, fill my soul with grace;
Free me from all temptations;
Help me pray for souls, nations;
Fix on heaven, my soul's gaze!

Sonnet: Share Your Excess
What for some people, wealth in haste amass?
What for some nations arms always accrue?
What for some persons sins commit, Alas!
They know that punishments are surely due.
Can not one change his attitudes for good?
Though old, some people's nature stays callow;
How much a stomach holds tho' dainty food?
Avarice to eat, you don't you allow.
Let excess things never remain with you,
The excess can be shared with all 'have-nots',
Your body serves others when you're dead too,
The 'haves' can change their poor fellowmen's lots.
Excess of wheat in granaries gets stale;
Use it to feed the starved ones to inhale.

Lenten Season,2009
It’s Lent-time once again;
Make it a boon, not bane;
Empty your soul’s sin-bins;
Let grace of God, souls rinse!
It’s time to pray a lot;
Fasting avoids soul’s rot;
Keep off all deadly sins;
The Holy Spirit wins!
‘We know the foe in depth;
On sinful mud, we slept;
We do all sins again;
Our grace is on the wane! ’
Lent is the time to think;
Our follies, we must shrink;
Let good thoughts fill the mind;
From evil, let’s rescind.
Take care each moment then;
Let’s move nearer heaven;
Keep off satan’s rampage;
Christians have advantage.
Preserve the body pure;
Sufferings, let’s more endure;
The God, most High knows this;
He’ll give us our due bliss!
Pray every now and then;
Read Bible much often;
Read about saints on earth,
Who suffered ev’n from birth!
With God, let’s reconcile;
Sin, bitter is like bile;
Confess as many times;
Say prayers, hymns and rhymes.
Let’s win our divine war;
Heal will our soul’s sin-scar;
Lent is the time aright;
Let’s make our dark lives bright!
Forget the sinful past;
Good things alone will last;
Satan’s a mere actor;
God is the clear victor.

Sonnet: A Sterile Person
I am a river-bed that’s dry for long;
There was no rain in the mountains up-stream;
Neither is there melting of snow, bird-song;
Utterly shattered is my watery-dream.
I am a barren desert formed from ground;
My lips are parched as rains can never come;
My verdure gone, men look at me dumbfound;
A sea of sand, I cannot one welcome.
I am a tree with leaves and no flowers;
I am a tree with flowers, yet no fruit;
I have not changed despite many showers;
Oh, how I wish I could sever my root.
But live I must despite my barren life!
For my soul’s sake, suffer I must more strife.

Sonnet: The Pure-drest Souls, Go To Heaven
What use is an Angelic face within
A heart of self-conceit, revenge and scorn?
What use is Saint-like man with soul of sin,
Who harbors long in mind for he’s forlorn?
Let face and eyes reflect the heart of man;
With time, the mask remains, by habit glued;
Allow the mind to run amok, we can?
Let soul with virtues, good deeds be imbued.
For Heav'n receives souls that are not defiled;
In camouflage, none can get past the gate;
Beware,0 man, like rubbish, sins get piled;
The more they stay, bad habits can't abate.
Relentless sinners can't reach God's Abode;
As Heaven has its own soul's strict dress-code.
