Sonnet: A Poet’s Life

Oh, how some poets have suffered in life!
In trying to eke their just livelihood;
To most, their most intimate friend was strife;
Orphaned and desperate right from childhood.

Oh, how they had run from pillar to post!
Doing odd jobs and working through the night;
Poverty remained forever a ghost;
For long years, denied were they of limelight.

Much vexed, some gave in to many a vice,
To taste an iota of so-called joy!
Their poems great offered others advice;
Alas! they remained an ill-fated toy.

Could not the Maker protect them from strife?
Perhaps, they all await a better life.

Sonnet: Elixir of Life

O God, give me the Elixir of Life
To stay alive a century or more;
Thou free me forever from all my strife;
In divine love, let heart, mind and soul grow!

Poets of past years had a short life-span,
And died of disease, poverty and strife;
I wish to live long, die a holy man;
Give me on earth a spiritual Bard-life!

Could I be happy on earth and heaven?
Aware I am, Thou made me from mere clod;
Why didst Thou make me bard amidst such men?
What do I give Thee in return, O God?

Poems of mine will vindicate my love
And live for long, before I fly above!

Sonnet: My Poetry

When foul an air, I’d breathed since my childhood,
When water lost its taste over the years,
When Righteous men too gave in to falsehood,
And worldly things turned bad for eyes and ears!

When hunger drove me mad until manhood,
When opportunities right never came,
When dangers lurked in every neighborhood,
And talents couldn’t win love of ev’n one dame!

When temptations made man sin all through life,
When poverty denied the little chance,
When laugh I had to ’midst my daily strife,
And unfair tunes in life forced me to dance!

When Time’s lessons made heart and mind more numb,
From frustration, my Poetry did come!

Sonnet- To Emily Dickinson

A spinster, she remained all through her life,
And kept her poems unpublished but filed;
God was her Lover, Friend, ’midst all her strife;
She led a quiet life akin a child!

Her feelings river-like flowed to the sea;
She never let her passions form a lake;
Neither was she after name, fame, money;
She was a Poetess of U.S. make.

The Queen of wordy rhymes, she wrote and wrote;
Her poems could apply to future dates;
A Ship she was but wished to stay a boat!
On earth, she was ready for Heaven's gates.

Her volume of poetry was quite big!
Nevertheless, she never wore a wig!

They are still my kin

I didn’t go to him for any favour;
He remained my friend.

I didn’t do with him any business;
He remained my cousin.

I didn’t have with him any common roof;
He remained my brother.

I didn’t keep to her my eyes wide open;
She remained my wife.

I didn’t get from them any allowance;
They remained my children.

It is as good as they are none to me;
With the God’s grace I could keep them as mine.

Sonnet: Be Optimistic

Give me some wood and I will make a boat;
Give me more wood and I will build a ship;
Give me the cloth and I will stitch a coat;
Give me the years and I will make friendship.

Give me just mud and I will build a hut;
Give me cement and multi-storeys rise;
Give me my crosses; I'll keep my mouth shut;
Give me more sufferings, I'll keep of vice.

Give me courage to do away with strife;
Give me a job to earn my livelihood;
Give me the chances to succeed in life;
Give me the love I need in my childhood.

Give me something, I'll do accordingly;
Give me a spouse or I will live singly!

Never heard before

Salute to you mother for your great service
You were so simple with no gadget or device
You did miracles for poor and downtrodden
You were remembered then and now even

You were dropped from heaven like Messiah or angel
You were shining star from every angle
We saw in you a divine light and followed
You never objected to but embraced and allowed

May be you had seen the tragedy of life
Thee time may not have been right or riddled with strife
You adopted to serve the mankind and particularly poor
Who were denied access and kept at the door

Whatever she did was never heard this before
Came on earth with divine message to serve therefore
To nurture the wounds and take care of destitute
She was her self complete mission as an institute

Lord had suffered cruelly at the hands of mankind
Even though he forgave them all and remained kind
You were seen as divine rose from beautiful heaven
You were successful to convey message even

She was preferred over many to be sent here
She had only poor at heart and offered prayers
It was seen as miracle in the form of Lord Mother
Who else could have been to stay here and offer?

Even though time did not show any mercy
She had ruled the hearts of many
Everybody wished very long life and prayed
Even though she had hint of death not being delayed

She was shining like star in the later part
Even though she worked hard as if was new start
She wanted to give maximum before departure
She thought of breathing last after making sure

She had tease in the heart for disturbing news
She wanted no more extension or reviews
It was made clear that her end was near
Even though she cried for those who remained dear

It was very painful to leave the mission half accomplished
It was not expected to be completed or left half finished
The divine wish was to be given first preference
The life was to end soon without any reference

The stars and sky may remain there for ever
So will be your name shined like star
You have gone back to the place where you had come
We had wept on your departure but God too waited for you to welcome

* Her name will stand tall in history of mankind*

Exit point

Searching the exit point
I remained there as before
Seeing the house-full every-time
I remained cool seeing the dog
Inside the house and doing mischief
I could not find one and locate where
They have gone and for what purpose
With the coconut I had with me
Seeing them all in this sky I
Remained again aloof with
The alphabet of life that was not mine
Searching the exit point
I called O Mayabi where are you
And you are there inside holding me
As before and here under I remained cool.

Cherish The Child

Cherish the child within your care
While childhood yet remains,
Anoint your love with precious prayer
Regardless of life's pains...
For sorrow comes to one and all,
No matter who you are,
Yet we must rise each time we fall,
No matter, near or far...

Cherish the child within your reach
While childhood yet exists,
For close-at-hand there's time to teach,
If patience still persists...
Rewards await the heart that shows
A constant love each day,
A love that gently glows and glows,
No matter, come what may...

Cherish the child within your life
While childhood runs its course,
Against this world so full of strife,
Its follies to enforce...
Protect each fragile fragrant flower
So that the child may bloom...
With love the everlasting power
That brightens up each room...

Cherish the child, that little one,
That sacred soul God gave
From when its life has just begun
Until your final wave...
God's promises can be believed,
Your hopes and dreams are known...
Our Father blesses prayers received
From those He calls His own...

My inspirational poets

Let me think of the Vietnamese literature
let me miss the poet named Ba Huyen Thanh Quan
Who is so lovely and so warm.
As her romantic love poems are so clever and
forever for thousand years.

Let me dream of Nguyen Du
in the romantic love story of Lady called Kieu
that is so fantastic love life
and the beautiful nature 's lovely way
still lives in his poems forever.

Let my soul sinks in their marvelous poems
that are so simple and so beautiful for thousand years
AS my childhood fills all of their poems
that let me stirs the emotion never forget.
To their beautiful poems are forever and always.

Sonnet: Poverty

The horrific specter called Poverty,
Ruining most illustrious of men;
Denying them much of their liberty;
Suppressing talents and scholastic ken.

The snow-balling avalanche that kills man,
Great scholars, scientists, poets, genius;
Putting them to death in her lion’s den,
Humiliation caused by an empty purse!

Oh, how the nightmare can affect these minds!
Sucking the sap of life in a few years;
Perpetually haunting them, it binds
To destroy sometimes, the souls of some seers.

Poverty generates great Poetry!
How can man live by writing poems free?

Liqueur and Life

Liqueur and life
Trouble and strife
Blow my brains
Oh, transcendence a kiss
Last forever and a day
Like the music of a harp
There notes string you along
Like a child you hear
But not the voices behind
The silence in what they say
Because you're to blind drunk
You cannot hear or see
Beyond, your own misery
Liqueur and life
Trouble and strife
Blow my brains away...
But quantum physics
I better understand
Like Janis Joplin she lives with me
Through you!
Thunder in the airways can't you see
Life under a toadstool, how can it be?
My life's boxed under the stairs
With you!
Take a rain cheque darling,
I can't take no more
Liqueur and life
Trouble and strife
Liqueur and life
Trouble and strife
Liqueur and life
Trouble and strife
Blow my brains away...

Happy Friendship Day!

A friend is a person
You bump into one day,
In a strange way
Like a Fay!
Making you gay,
Listening to all that
You got to say!

A friend is one
Amongst a few,
Who cares for you,
Telling you what to do;
At times, cautioning too!

A friend is a soul
With an important role,
Helping you attain your goal,
Making your life whole!

A friend is a rare find
Who enters your mind
In a way pre-destined;

A friend adds
meaning to your life;
Helping you in your strife;
Becoming even
Your husband or wife!

A friend is for ever
Intimate and never
Always clever.

A friend is a bond of love
That shouldn’t sever,
But remain strong forever!

Sonnet: there are some who…

There are some who can’t afford one square meal;
There are some who run from pillar to post;
There are some who for their fellowmen feel;
There are some who never would like to boast.

There are some who are humble to the core;
There are some who exhibit great kindness;
There are some who are ready to give more;
There are some who die for righteousness.

There are some who always think of others;
There are some who are shelter less all life;
There are some who sacrifice for brothers;
There are some who love God despite all strife.

There are some who earn their Heaven on earth;
There are some who are, God-blest by birth.

Sonnet: Sufferings- the Key to Life

Through sufferings, we are born to lead this life;
Through sufferings, we are even baptized;
Through sufferings, we all must meet our strife;
Through sufferings, we’re even magnetized.

Through sufferings, sometimes we have our joy!
Through sufferings, we earn our livelihood;
Through sufferings, we grew to man from boy;
And sufferings’ our teacher from childhood!

Through sufferings, we learn in life good things;
Through sufferings, we learn to live well, pray!
Through sufferings, big truths, this world us brings;
By sufferings, we fight ‘gainst Tempter’s ways.

Yet, sufferings- a blessing God us gave,
To keep the road to Heaven, well behave!

George Crabbe Wrote Of

George Crabbe wrote of hardship and poverty and woe
In the England he lived in a long time ago
But perhaps his poems might be more popular today
Had he looked at life in a less truthful way.

George Crabbe wrote of children in dire poverty
The poor sad victims of Human cruelty
And the poems full of pathos and the poems full of truth
Of a poet who was blessed with the great gift of ruth.

He wrote of human cruelty to their own kind
A God in the soul of such a person you'll find
He did not write of mythological figures or monarch or squire
He wrote for the poor his type I do admire.

Of the poverty around him he was all too aware
But poets like George Crabbe they have always been rare
Though if you feel a bit down and a good laugh you do need
His poems lacking in Humor are not for you to read.

Of the poor souls of England George Crabbe did write
His poems not hard to understand or to read or recite
And though as a person and poet he was great
Such poets the masses never do celebrate.

Mangan

Arguably the greatest poet old Ireland has seen
'Twas he penned the poem known as 'Dark Rosaleen'
In eighteen forty nine in his mid forties in poverty he died
Though true genius of him never can be denied
The great James Clarence Mangan Ireland's National bard
His journey through life was to say the least hard
He lived as he died in abject poverty
Yet one could not name many poets as great as he
From consumption and poor diet and neglect he died very young
For him no State funeral and he was unsung
Despite his hard life it seems a remarkable feat
That so many great poems the great poet did bequeath
To Ireland and it's people though he died just past his prime
As one of the poor souls of the Dublin of his time.

Sonnet: John Keats

It was a pretty Flow’r in full blossom!
One that had grown, despite many travails;
When like a bolt, it broke to meet its doom;
Consumed in youthful years by cruel gales.

The Flower made the plant and landscape proud;
By premature demise, left utter gloom;
Its fragrance reached far like Milton’s voice loud;
Could not the Maker find it a Bee-groom?

All born and bred ’midst poverty and strife,
Some Bards on earth sipped gall and poison’d drink;
Some ruthlessly denied a fruitful life,
Were turned to dust before they could well ink.

The Keatsian odes will live for long to tell,
And toll aloud with pride, Poesy’ bell!

Love story

He loved her
She loved him
He gave her, his heart
She gave him, her soul
Gifts exchanged
Unable to meet
Desires remained
Unfulfilled
They remained apart
No hope to meet
He committed suicide
She also died
Fate wins
Love loses
Sad end to a love
Story
Which remained
Incomplete

Sonnet: The Magic of Poverty

A birth in poverty is luck supreme!
A death in poverty, a great blessing;
A life of poverty is rare a dream;
Achievements great, stark poverty can bring.

’Tis poverty that goads nations do feats;
’Tis poverty that stimulates scientists;
In everything, poverty, wealth just beats;
The greatest men were in poverty’s lists.

And poverty lessens our worries much;
Account to God will be much easier;
Poverty gives the saint a divine touch;
In poverty, poets can fly higher!

Poverty helps to shun worldly pleasures;
A soul in poverty, Heaven allures.

All Our Trials

All our trials and all our strife, have their roots in our spiritual life,
Friend we are not just anyone, for we are the image of God’s Son.
We were created more than whole; we were given a body and a soul.
All other creation is as you see, but we have been made for Eternity.

Placed in a garden with no strife, and we were given Eternal Life.
With God man had unfettered fellowship, then Satan entered into it.
Satan’s ploy had caused man to fall, but that my friend was not all.
Being banished from Paradise, started for all men a world of strife.

God no longer walked with them, as their fellowship came to an end.
Outside the garden it got worse, for on the earth God put a curse.
One thing lost in all this strife, was man’s assurance of Eternal Life,
When man takes his last breath, without God, he faces Eternal Death.

It’s from Adam that we inherit sin, that causes us deep grief within.
Friend it is this sin that causes strife, affecting each and every life.
All wicked trials, big and small, can be traced back to Adam’s fall.
And all evil emotions deep within, stem from Adam’s original sin.

Just as Adam caused all men to fall, Christ came to redeem us all,
To redeem us from a market of sin, that causes us bondage within.
He came in the midst of our strife, to restore to all men Eternal Life,
And give to all an inner peace, and a relationship that won’t cease.
