Nick Fluge, Cliff-diving in Acapulco
Flies love, swan-like across the sky
From rocky edge- a moment’s try:
With four limbs raised above the head,
And torso seeming, almost dead!
Taut muscles hold the skeleton
As if it’s frozen on the run,
Twenty-five meters high up in
The air, in total perfection.
Breath held in inspiration full,
The cliff-diver now plunges down
In perfect stance, as head first strikes
The surface waters of the sea.
The golden sun-set forms a veil
Of light of varied hues and shapes;
The diver’s body looking dark,
And touching down in three seconds!
What nerves of steel and stamina!
What acrobatics in the air!
What risks and fears of life and death
Pass through the minds, of those who dare!
Love plunges deep into the sea,
The diver coming up afree:
An act of seconds, masterly-
The world is held spell-bound truly!

Love Rules the Diver’s Feat!
Love goads the fall from off the cliff so high!
Love keeps afloat the man, bird-like in sky;
Love frees the mind off risks, unwanted fear;
Love takes the plunge into the sea, now near.
Love bubbles up the diver truly fast,
To gasp for air, above the sea so vast;
Love fills the heart with dare-devilish art;
Love rules the diver’s every, risky feat!
Love rules the diver’s every feat;
Love rules the diver’s feat!

Dare-Devils of the Sea
The Acrobatic ‘Man-Bird-Fish! '
Man flies in air wingless, ‘bird-like’!
Man swims in water like a fish;
Man acrobatics monkey-like;
Man does most things as per his wish!
Man dives from cliffs and rocks so high,
And floats a moment just swan-like,
Taking risks, unafraid to die,
Plunging head-down, into the sea!
Cliff-diving is a thrilling sport,
Courageous and perilous;
The daring ones make it their forte;
Now swimming pools look courteous!
In three seconds, they touch the sea;
The entry-splash looking, so neat
A spectacle, incredibly.
Nick Fluge dived down sixty-five feet!
You’ve got to train for days, weeks, years,
With risks disastrous, if you miss;
Tho’ Scuba’ equipment and gears
Protect some persons, from death’s kiss!

The Diver
The diver supremely inquired into speed,
One rocks faster than the diver himself.
A little planet erupts from the cosmos,
As the pledge has surpassed all quarrel.
The blamed matter argues further to enlighten
Those men and women of the diver's strength.
The dived one can ask the sea, and water in general -
Such questions are reasonable for the pleasure.
A little sea and a little ocean masters us well,
Then the divinity of water ensues,
You relax due to light and darkness
Of the very deep matters.

All in a Few Moments!
Up on the rocky ledge,
A moment as a man;
Up in the air afloat,
A moment like a bird;
Down through the air, he falls,
A moment plunging fast;
Down through the water, goes
A moment like a fish;
Up through the water, comes
A moment, man again!
Cliff-diving is a skill;
It is a drill;
It is by will;
It can even kill;
In waters still,
It looks so easy
For the dare-devil!

Sonnet: The Master’s Masterly Strokes
The beauteous butterfly’s body and wings,
With printed riot of hues and designs,
To mind and heart of human beings brings
The Maker’s marvelous feelings and signs.
The little ant’s cute brain and body parts
That move with precision and perfection,
Surprising scientists’ searching minds and hearts
About the Creator’s innovation.
The frond of green that changes shapes and hues,
And manufactures starch by sun and gas,
Remains an unraveled mysterious news
That human effort can’t ever surpass.
And yet, man strikes dead his offspring in womb
To annul earthly population boom?

Five Images
I
A naked body
bronze as the sun
poises against the sky
to dive,
then flings his form
into the tide,
parting waters
without a splash,
like the day sliding
beneath the sky.
II
The day is sliding
beneath the sky,
slipping away soundlessly,
like a diver
parting waters without a splash.
III
The bronze that tanned his body
slips below the lip of earth,
as bit by bit blue turns to gray;
And the sea darkens as it swallows
the single diver and the sun.
IV
The day drains
beneath the sky
as the lip of earth
fuses with and enters
the blue-gray parted waters
of the eastern sky,
and stars bit by bit
find their light.
V
The sun beneath the sky
so silently sank away,
I had not noticed its descent,
until I rubbed my eyed from strain
and turned on the light.

Seconds
All day
Hiding from the sun
Waiting for the golden one
Waiting for your fame
After the parade has gone
Outside was a happy place
Every face had a smile like the golden face
For a second
Your knuckles white as your fingers curl
The shot that was heard around the world
For a second
It took seconds of your time to take his life
It took seconds
It took seconds of your time to take his life
It took seconds
It took seconds of your time to take his life
It took seconds of your time to take his life
Seconds
Seconds
It took seconds of your time to take his life
It took seconds
It took seconds of your time to take his life
It took seconds
For a second
It took seconds of your time to take his life
It took seconds
It took seconds of your time to take his life
It took seconds
For a second
It took seconds of your time to take his life
Seconds of your time to take his life
For a second
For a second
For a second

Sonnet: Most Precious Things Are Seldom Found!
A large and ripen fruit stays hidden in
The foliage dense, unseen by men and birds;
A fattened calf is safe in flock within,
And grazes meadows with the moving herds!
A lovely rose is camouflaged by more,
Escaping hands that crush it in sheer play!
Some precious gold comes from few tons of ore,
Requiring labor, and demanding pay!
An orchid lies within the deep forest,
Away from searching eyes of man and beast;
A diver plunges deep in sea for best
Pearl worn by richest ladies in a feast!
A saintly soul is rare a find on earth,
Where virtue of piety is a dearth!

The Pearl Diver
Kanzo Makame, the diver, sturdy and small Japanee,
Seeker of pearls and of pearl-shell down in the depths of the sea,
Trudged o'er the bed of the ocean, searching industriously.
Over the pearl-grounds the lugger drifted -- a little white speck:
Joe Nagasaki, the "tender", holding the life-line on deck,
Talked through the rope to the diver, knew when to drift or to check.
Kanzo was king of his lugger, master and diver in one,
Diving wherever it pleased him, taking instructions from none;
Hither and thither he wandered, steering by stars and by sun.
Fearless he was beyond credence, looking at death eye to eye:
This was his formula always, "All man go dead by and by --
S'posing time come no can help it -- s'pose time no come, then no die."
Dived in the depths of the Darnleys, down twenty fathom and five;
Down where by law, and by reason, men are forbidden to dive;
Down in a pressure so awful that only the strongest survive:
Sweated four men at the air pumps, fast as the handles could go,
Forcing the air down that reached him heated and tainted, and slow --
Kanzo Makame the diver stayed seven minutes below;
Came up on deck like a dead man, paralysed body and brain;
Suffered, while blood was returning, infinite tortures of pain:
Sailed once again to the Darnleys -- laughed and descended again!
Scarce grew the shell in the shallows, rarely a patch could they touch;
Always the take was so little, always the labour so much;
Always they thought of the Islands held by the lumbering Dutch --
Islands where shell was in plenty lying in passage and bay,
Islands where divers could gather hundreds of shell in a day.
But the lumbering Dutch in their gunboats they hunted the divers away.
Joe Nagasaki, the "tender", finding the profits grow small,
Said, "Let us go to the Islands, try for a number one haul!
If we get caught, go to prison -- let them take lugger and all!"
Kanzo Makame, the diver -- knowing full well what it meant --
Fatalist, gambler, and stoic, smiled a broad smile of content,
Flattened in mainsail and foresail, and off to the Islands they went.
Close to the headlands they drifted, picking up shell by the ton,
Piled up on deck were the oysters, opening wide in the sun,
When, from the lee of the headland, boomed the report of a gun.
Then if the diver was sighted, pearl-shell and lugger must go --
Joe Nagasaki decided (quick was the word and the blow),
Cut both the pipe and the life-line, leaving the diver below!
Kanzo Makame, the diver, failing to quite understand,
Pulled the "haul up" on the life-line, found it was slack in his hand;
Then, like a little brown stoic, lay down and died on the sand.
Joe Nagasaki, the "tender", smiling a sanctified smile,
Headed her straight for the gunboat--throwing out shells all the while --
Then went aboard and reported, "No makee dive in three mile!
"Dress no have got and no helmet -- diver go shore on the spree;
Plenty wind come and break rudder -- lugger get blown out to sea:
Take me to Japanee Consul, he help a poor Japanee!"
So the Dutch let him go; but they watched him, as off from the Islands he ran,
Doubting him much -- but what would you? You have to be sure of your man
Ere you wake up that nest-ful of hornets -- the little brown men of Japan.
Down in the ooze and the coral, down where earth's wonders are spread,
Helmeted, ghastly, and swollen, Kanzo Makame lies dead.
Joe Nagasaki, his "tender", is owner and diver instead.
Wearer of pearls in your necklace, comfort yourself if you can.
These are the risks of the pearling -- these are the ways of Japan;
"Plenty more Japanee diver plenty more little brown man!"

Seven Seconds Away [Collaboration with Miranda Mabuto]
Slow down pretty woman,
We are almost there,
We have walked a million miles,
We cant fail a single mile away,
Open your heart
For love is approaching you
Slow down pretty lady,
We have had a million smiles,
You are almost mine,
Open your heart almost lover,
Together we will be fine
Come along my angel,
Its me and you in this world
We can never go astray
Babie nomore delay
We are just seven seconds away
Its seven seconds away,
Seven seconds away in our way,
Me and you against the world,
In seven seconds it will be us
Its now we, nomore I and you
Come along babie in seven seconds
Hold me and go away with me,
From the cruel world shall we flee,
Me and you a happy heart
Running in the fields like the flock
Be calm my love, watch the clock
Seven seconds away
Seven seconds away,
Seven seconds astray,
Babie come my way
Yes, for a perfect get away
Its only seven seconds away
Nomore wait and delay,
The dancefloor will be soon ours,
Hold my waist come lets play,
I will dry the tears you cry
We are just seven seconds away

17
17 seconds of compassion
17 seconds of peace
17 seconds to remember love is the energy
behind which all is created
17 seconds to remember all that is good
17 seconds to forget all your hurt and pain
17 seconds of faith
17 seconds to trust you again
17 seconds of radiance
17 seconds to send a prayer up
17 seconds is all you really need

Hold On
I was doomed riding on top a black horse.
Whatever prize there was I could only observe where the troubles starts.
Where does it end?
I cannot be cured...mmm...but if...
I know life would be different if I held on, held on.
I know I could be something if I held on.
Gave her life away. Put it in my pocket when it should've been framed.
Oh lost it's shine. Gotta' get this out of my head, out of my head.
How could it end...end like this?
I could've been...
I know life would be different had I held on, held on.
I know I could've been something had I held on, held on.
I know I could be something if I held on, held on.
I know life would be different if I held on, held on.
Held on, held on, if I held on, held on, if I held on, held on, if I held on.

When Things Didn’t Happen As You’d Thought…
When things didn’t happen as you’d thought,
May be, the Almighty intends,
To do them in a different way,
And make you fitter for the job,
That you can’t handle anyway!
And make your mind and heart better,
And body physically well,
To take on assignments tougher,
And do them most successfully.
And give you nerves of steel-like strength,
And stamina to withstand stress,
And soul of grace to avoid sin,
And prepare yourself for heaven.
So, tune your heart, mind, body, soul,
And patiently expect all things,
For, when God does things in His way,
Nothing can go wrong any day!

Looking for your own face
Your face is neither infinite nor ephemeral.
You can never see your own face,
only a reflection, not the face itself.
So you sigh in front of mirrors
and cloud the surface.
It's better to keep your breath cold.
Hold it, like a diver does in the ocean.
One slight movement, the mirror-image goes.
Don't be dead or asleep or awake.
Don't be anything.
What you most want,
what you travel around wishing to find,
lose yourself as lovers lose themselves,
and you'll be that.

Muscles
(michael jackson)
She said she wants a man
To always understand
But thats alright for her
Still it aint enough for me
She said she wants a guy
To keep her satisfied
But thats alright for her
But it aint enough for me
Still, I dont care if hes young or old
(just make him beautiful)
I just want someone I can hold on to
I want muscles
All, all over his body
(make him strong enough from his head down to his toes)
I want muscles
All, all over his body
(make him strong enough from his head down to his toes)
They say they have to see
His real personality
But thats alright for them
Still it aint enough for me
I need what the eyes can see, ah
(his anatomy)
If thats alright for them
Still it aint enough for me
I dont care if hes young or old
Just make him beautiful
I just want some strong man to hold on to
I want muscles
All, all over his body
(make him strong enough from his head down to his toes)
I want muscles
All over his body
(make him strong enough from his head down to his toes)
Muscle man, I want to love you
In person, I want your body
Come with me, hiding the cascades
Let this be, weve got this thing made
Lost at sea, hide the desert
Stay with me, you wont regret it
Take this love, so deep to swim in
Come to me, and let the love in
She said she wants a man
To always understand
But thats alright for her
Still it aint enough for me
I dont care if hes young or old
(just make him beautiful)
I just want someone I can hold on to
I want muscles
All, all over his body
(make him strong enough from his head down to his toes)
I want muscles
All over him, all over him
I want muscles
All, all over his body
I want muscles
I want all I can get
All over him, all over him
I want muscles, muscles, muscles

Youth’s End
I HAVE held my life too high,
Spring and harvest, love and laughter, smile and sigh.
I should have held it lightly, like a young leaf rent in haste
From the willow in the waste.
A moment in my fingers; then it fluttered, then it fled,
A little flame of red,
To the God-beholding desert where the soundless years go by,–
I have held my life too high.
I have held my death too dear,
Shame or honour, peace or peril, pride or fear.
I should have held it softly, as the little cloud that flies
When the heron takes the skies.
I should have held it kindly as a passing whisper,–'Friend,
Here's the end,
Here the silver cord is loosened and the bowl is broken here,'–
But I held my death too dear.

Alone
A phone that seldom rings, or never,
Sounds like a life-line coiled, unused,
A link to light that stands accused,
Left hanging in the never-never.
Life is so short, so soon to sever,
A call can save, and one refused
Leaves empty heart, and mind bemused
Or all at sea. However clever
No diver plunges who would ever
Enthuse or feel the least amused
If, once he sank, trust was abused: -
Cut lines for reason whatsoever!
Remember then the friendly call
You make can take no time at all.

Frustrating Seconds
These seconds of time that seem so small
really are not that small at all.
They continuously add up to a minute.
Sixty seconds later and all that's within it
is larger as they pass.
And then they add up to an hour.
Now those seconds have more power.
They move along and soon there'll be
another day gone from you with me.
Seconds, minutes, hours and days
have grown so long in heartfelt ways.
They leave me wondering just how long
these drawn out seconds did me wrong?
I'd love to bundle them up real tight
and little by little squeeze them at night.
And when the dawn is here again
remember all of them and say Amen.
I do not wish my life away.
I just want those seconds to go their way.
Let them add up for another fool.
For these seconds for me are much too cruel.
I don't need seconds, minutes or hours
to remind me of eternity.
I will not count the time anymore
for all it contains is the misery
of being away from you.

The Fetus (Abortus) Speaks:
I am wholesome;
I am handsome;
I am your boy;
I’ll give you joy!
But,
They cut membranes,
And drained waters;
I gasped for air,
But they didn’t care.
They cut my neck;
They nipped my legs;
They pierced my head,
And sliced me through.
They dismembered
Me, while alive!
I writhed in pain,
And bled to death.
I am their own;
They me disown;
What cruelty
Is feticide?
Is this my mom?
Is womb, my tomb?
Is this my pop?
Their love’s a flop!
God called my name;
They killed sans shame;
I am unborn;
Haven’t seen a dawn!
‘What have you done?
Why have you done?
It was no fun;
You’ve killed your son! ’
’Tis OK, Lord.
They didn’t heed word;
They aren’t my foes.
Who brought me woes.
Dear God, I pray,
‘Forget this day;
Forgive the souls
For their bad roles! ’
‘Hold your wrath, God.
Delay your rod.’
Eyed, they were blind;
Now, they’ve sinned!
But now I’m dead!
They’d lost their head;
I’m an angel
In heaven, well!
Why abortion!
Go give your child
That’s unwanted,
For adoption.
