Can the Anti-corruption Crusade Work?

If noble be your profession,
And noble be your fighting cause,
Mere fasting may not help you much
To cleanse society off evils!

Rich man can't fight for poor man's sake!
He ought to share his wealth, then fight;
A smoker shan't advise others;
Let him give up his smoking first!

When you have joined politics, then,
Your anti-corruption struggle,
Can't bring you victory anytime,
For you have joined the corrupt side!

Not all can become Gandhijis!
Non-violence does not work these days;
Self-sacrifice and example
Help you to lead a just struggle!

But can you make the sea salt-free?
Then you must make rivers salty!
Earth cannot turn a paradise,
As long as men remain selfish!

All forms of rule are imperfect;
No man is content with less wealth;
But men are never satisfied;
Corruption is a global vice!

All you can do is mitigate
The evil to a harmless state;
But only those who are not rich
May hope to gain a victory!

Too much of anything is bad;
All feats need supreme sacrifice;
As price of human life is less,
Unborn get murdered in the womb!

The Fight Against Corruption

The country cannot bear it anymore;
The vice has gained in-roads to every sphere;
Corruption rules the roost in daily life;
The weed has grown much better than good plants!

The common man’s the most affected one;
Corruption stays in forms, guises galore;
Taxes are worse and thanks to corruption;
No one is happy with the pay he gets!

Cheating has turned to be the way of life;
Stealing is not a crime for corrupted;
Corruption is the prime cause for price-rise;
The big cheats thrive despite the stricter laws.

Progress has been stifled by corruption;
The hand is used to get bribes all life-time;
The tongue speaks lies with ease and variety;
The time has come to root out corruption.

But who will fight this social evil great?
The few who try are not perfect at all;
The honest ones who try don’t make headway;
The beast is live and loitering afree!

The shark no longer stays in deeper seas;
The ice-berg’s tip can’t be made out these days;
The roots are stronger, gone too far and wide;
The habit’s now second nature of man!

No nation can go on in this fashion;
The good that’s done is undone by this bad!
A popular uprising is the answer;
But good leaders are not an easy find!

Fasting is not the way of doing things;
Violence only begets violence with time;
A lot of patience is needed to fight;
Unite must souls, hearts, minds to curb menace.

Real progress comes if corruption’s less;
Most people are fed up with how things are;
A renaissance must soon stem this vice fast;
Just righteousness can win over evils!

’Tis time to fight corruption in all ways;
Perseverance will tilt the balance soon;
A lot of sacrifice is essential;
The victory is a priceless gift to man!

Corruption in India

In the sacred land called Bharat
Corruption has become a habit.
From top brass in authority
To the lower sections and aam aadhmi!

But the menace has gained strong roots
Into every sphere and profession;
All the good that is being done
Is offset by corruption.

Blame corruption for many evils
And vices that plague society;
It is the cause for democracy
Being unable to deliver its fruits!

It is reason for rich becoming richer,
And the poor turning poorer;
It is the cause of price-rise,
And taxes exorbitant!

It is why black-money grows
And black-marketing prevails;
This is why India remains quite poor,
And under developed among world nations!

If only corruption can be curbed,
India will become a paradise;
A billion souls can live in peace,
And prosperity will dwell upon all!

Thanks to one great Indian soul,
Anna Hazare for awakening Indians
Against corruption – root cause of poverty!

‘I’m Anna! ’ - Movement: Poem on Corruption in India

The poor become poorer each day
The rich turn richer every way
Corruption is the cause that may
Prevent a nation’s progress, Aye!

Corruption rules the world in ways
Indiscernible yet, always;
The common man’s heart, mind and face
Reveals the menace in each case

Corruption wears so many masks;
The corrupt in lucre’s sun basks;
All accept it and no one asks,
‘Why burden-some turn daily tasks? ’

Corruption has gone too rampant;
It runs amok like an elephant;
The poor man’s life is like an ant;
Mass rallies slogans only chant.

The war to curb corruption’s on;
Good youth in India have been born;
The people get gleanings of corn,
While sheaves in rich men’s homes adorn.

Corruption’s the cause of price-rise;
Share-markets play a game like dice;
Taxes have grown mammoth in size;
A tax-payer ashamed then dies.

Which leader will then stem this rot?
– Democracy is badly caught;
The fight must be much bravely fought
Till freedom after Freedom’s got!

Long Live Anna and Indian Democracy!

‘The passing of the bill
will prove that people’s will
Can make the nation ill
To climb corruption’s hill! ’

Anna has won through his marathon fast
A spectacular victory for all;
His Lokpal Bill has finally been passed;
Fast will be off; He set rolling the ball!

All MP’s also performed well their part;
They showed the world that Parliament’s supreme;
The people’s needs were paramount in heart;
They worked to realise the people’s dream!

The Anna Team had done too fine a job;
They helped Hazare all ways through his fast;
They were well encouraged by huge a mob;
They worked in harmony until the last!

The Resolution Anna asked had come;
The Anti-corruption bill will make it;
The happy end’’s more than hearty welcome;
The fast had become terrific a hit!

The war on Corruption is just begun;
’Tis the beginning of a struggle long;
The struggle long ought to always go on;
The country men can sing a happy song!

Long live the sacrifice of Hazare!
The aged man is hero without doubt;
The Anna Team has become bright thare;
On day twelve, they managed to win the bout!

The support ends the battle just for now;
A lot of things are to be done henceforth;
All showed their unity and country’s love;
The Bill will change the future giving mirth!

Long live Anna Hazare! Long live Indian Democracy!

Dear Annaji, End Your Fast Fast

So far so good, you’ve led the movement well!
’Tis time, you thought about your precious life;
A rigid attitude can’t hasten things;
Allow some natural time to get things done.

Getting tougher when people soften stands
Could complicate the problem you fight for;
Please end your fast before your health worsens;
All want a good man like you to live long!

Corruption has been happening for years;
The problem can’t be stalled by just one bill;
‘You’ve risked your life enough’; so, end your fast;
Your fasting more can’t speed up things from now.

Respect the Parliament and those in it;
They’ve promised you that they will do their best;
Good that you fought for such a noble cause;
India is proud of Anna Hazare.

A beginning is good for anything;
The bill can be made stronger in due course;
Stop your protests; recoup your health, Anna;
‘All well that ends well, ’ the saying goes.

You’ve kindled patriotic feelings in all;
You’ve raised a key issue – corruption;
India can’t stand corruption anymore;
The good work you have done, all Indians know.

Calm down; cool down, Anna Hazareji!
Too much of anything may worsen things;
Your health is wealth of India, you please know;
Bring down the tempo of your protests, Sir.

Give up your fast, allowing time for things;
Procedures take their course quite naturally;
Your half-won victory will bring full success;
We Indian brethren love you, Annaji!

You should not risk your life any longer;
The country needs you hale and hearty, please;
So, end your fast and thank God, Hazare;
Your bill will come through, vijay hamare!

Sonnet: To the Freshly Joined Medicos

You are the very cream of society,
Awaiting change from adolescent stage;
You ought to learn to live in amity,
And read with fervor from Life’s Book, each page.

Life has become so different in these days!
Gone are the morals, sense of values too;
One can live his life in so many ways;
But remember, your God is watching you.

Your labor will be rewarded someday;
Let despair not engulf your heart and mind;
Ignore the evil things that people say;
In truth and virtues, solace you will find.

A doctor’s job’s a noble profession!
Pollute it not in life by corruption.

Sonnet: On Corruption Today

God, thwart the moves of men with minds insane;
Their corruption has reached enormous heights;
And masking all their crimes, righteous they feign;
Ill-gotten wealth, giving them sleepless nights!

How long this land can bear their insults, Lord?
How longer must the poor suffer hard-ships?
The corrupt own most resources, O God;
Most transactions are carried out by ‘tips’!

The people have been cheated for ages;
The poor are made poorer by corrupt men;
The employees get paid paltry wages.
For honest folk, the earth is no haven!

Most lives are endangered by corruption;
The world does need a cleansing eruption!

World Nurses’ Day,2010

Let love of money never interfere
With sacrificial service for mankind,
In times of ailments, distress, agony,
In noble profession on earth – Nursing.

Let duty to the suffering patients stay
Paramount all life, mitigating pain;
Let selflessness prevail in loving care
Of brethren moribund, in throes of death.

Let love of profession afill the hearts
Those follow Florence Nightingale’s footsteps;
Let God reward thee amply for thy work
In saving lives and curing diseases.

May thy noble profession remain so!
Let ethics not be ignored any day;
Let loving care of human beings make
The earth a paradise to some extent!

Just One Man – One Indian, Anna Hazare - Icon of anti-corruption!

One man had stirred the hearts of Indians;
One man gave hope anew for men who yearned;
One man fasted for days for country’s sake;
One man thought of the big vice, corruption!

One man fought a war for sake of justice;
One man sought non-violent means of protest;
One man aimed to lock horns with affluent!
One man blamed the laws for deficiencies!

One man challenged the unfairness of laws;
One man questioned men in authority;
One man united Indians for a great cause;
One man sowed seed of patriotism.

One man talked tough to leaders, bureaucrats;
One man demanded for a Lokpal Bill;
One man arrested was released promptly;
One man gained a device to tune the rich!

One man made Indians renounce corruption;
One man awoke all against corruption;
One man instilled love for the common man;
One man fuelled a new revolution!

He Is the Indian Gandhian, Anna Hazare by name!
Long live the hero! May corruption become a zero!

The Anna Hazare Phenomenon (India's Anti-corruption Struggle)

A man in his mid-seventies
A freedom fighter veteran
Fights against a mammoth vice
’Tis Anti corruption!

Alone he fights and defies
The Government for his fast;
He can’t have his ways with ease
Nation watches aghast!

Freedom for a freed nation!
That’s what most people want;
Gone too high has corruption;
People join with a chant.

Democracy does not work,
Riddled by problems great;
Voters turn almost berserk;
Politicians, they hate.

Why give mandate for corrupt?
Let people introspect;
Struggles should not peace disrupt,
The law, we must respect.

The old man will not give up fast;
The bill must involve all;
People unite more than in past;
It is a clarion call.

Yet, no one is above law;
The issue is too big;
No law made is without flaw;
‘A wig remains a wig! ’

One can’t stall the Parliament;
Democracy must win;
A large nation’s one big lament
‘Just root out corruption! ’

The problem is so colossal;
The government’s in a fix;
All expect a miracle,
That needs a magic mix.

Quick victory is not in sight;
The menace must be curbed;
It requires the people’s might;
No use being perturbed.

People from all walks of life
Join Anna Hazare;
Corruption is big a strife;
Vijay ho, hamare!

Gandhi Jayanthi

You won the hearts of Indians globally –
O beloved Father of India!
You stood for truth, non-violence totally,
And gave the freedom we enjoy.

Born in Porbandar on October two,
Mohandhas Karamchand Gandhi,
You stood against odds of all sorts
To win innumerable patriotic hearts.

About you, Albert Einstein said,
‘Generations to come will scarce believe
that such a man as this had walked
upon the earth in flesh and blood.’

You were a mediocre student;
You were so timid and too shy;
You went to England to learn law,
To South Africa to practice!

The racial state of Africa
Had influenced your mind aright
To enter politics and fight,
And born were Satyagraha, Ahimsa!

What mattered was not skin-color,
But pangs of hunger and dolor!
What mattered was not caste or race,
But love of mankind and a smiling face!

You loved India’s poor peasantry;
You fought the British valiantly;
You led the nation brilliantly,
And won the freedom gallantly!

You fasted for the people’s sake;
You kept the freedom cry awake;
You didn’t use things of British make,
And made salt boldly with your rake!

Happy Birthday Gandhiji!
Though dead, you’re live in Indian hearts!
Your noble sacrifice on earth
Will shower Indians immense mirth!

You loved to pray to God always!
You trod the land by feet most days;
You kept the Freedom Struggle’s pace,
And won the battle against race!

Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!
Jai Gandhiji!

Towards a Corruption-free India

Cleanse the nation’s democracy;
Cleanse the nation’s bureaucracy;
Cleanse the nation’s polity;
Cleanse the nation’s authority.

Cleanse the nation’s systems’ machinery;
Cleanse the nation’s judiciary;
Cleanse the nation’s property;
Cleanse the nation’s ill-gotten money.

Let people’s power permeate the Parliament;
Let there be accountability of all citizens;
Let the poor and down-trodden be never ignored;
Let India become rejuvenated.

Bring back the wealth kept outside the land;
Enact laws for the welfare of the Motherland;
Act with responsibility and amity with all;
Console the aggrieved, comfort the dying.

Put the mighty nation on the road to progress;
This is no place for vices and evils of all kind;
Install a sense of security for all;
Infuse morality and patriotism.

Those voted to power must be clean;
Those in authority should not be mean;
Those in high office should not demean;
The future should belong to the youth and the teen.

Enough is enough, rethink on everything;
Corruption is the main issue to be curbed;
The law-makers should not be the worst law-breakers;
The law should serve the purpose it is meant for.

Let’s create a new India where peace prevails;
Let’s make our country prosperous;
Let’s work with zeal and honesty;
Let hearts be filled with sensibility and sensitivity.

The nation with a billion must forge ahead;
The nation should be truly independent;
The nation must regain its former glory;
The nation must be freed from corruption.

Thanks to Anna Hazare’s yeoman service and mighty efforts!

The year naught nine was rather rough;
Let’s hope the New Year is not tough;
Let peace prevail around the globe;
Let progress be the people’s robe!

Let recession be over soon;
Let human resources be boon;
Let wars become a distant dream;
Let smiles on faces always beam.

Let ethics rule our society;
Let no one live in anxiety;
Let terrorism see its end;
Let corruption see downward trend.

Let love of brethren connect all;
Let suspicion see its downfall;
Let children get a better deal;
Let fairness be the global seal.

Let charity to poor begin;
Let trust, truth, hard-work always win;
Let dialogues replace all arms;
Let world rejoice in singing Psalms.

Let leaders think and do things right;
Let concern grow for poor man’s plight;
Let’s keep the environs in shape;
Let’s never try the cheats to ape.

Let friendship be the frontier lines;
Let’s undo booby traps and mines;
Let’s pray to God keep our health;
Let’s earn our daily bread and wealth.

Let happiness permeate earth;
Let every unborn see its birth;

Sonnet: God’s the Difference!

The stress of work is telling on my health;
The indifference around seems depressing;
The righteous can’t accrue a decent wealth;
The world believes in lies/ truth-suppressing.

The rich grow richer, cheating poorer ones;
The poor turn poorer, exploited by rich;
Society moves by rule of modern guns;
Cricket results depend on ‘ball and pitch’!

The journey for the masses is uphill;
The upright suffer unimaginably;
With time, men lose their body strength and will;
Can good and evil live amicably?

Anna Hazare’s Crusade against Corruption in India

Anna wants a Lokpal bill strong
Anna wants a Lokpal bill fast
Anna wants a Lokpal bill full
Anna wants a Lokpal bill now

Anna wants a Lokpal bill by fast
Anna wants a Lokpal bill first
Anna wants a Lokpal bill for all
Anna wants a Lokpal bill – his call

Anna wants a Lokpal bill now
Anna wants a Lokpal bill without delay
Anna wants a Lokpal bill, come what may
Anna wants a Lokpal bill even if it means death.

There is no turning back
There is no giving up the fast
There is no fear of arrest
There is no worry about death

For,
India needs an anti-corruption bill
India is monetarily seriously ill
India needs the honesty drill
India has its wealth outside but inside will

Bring the bill
Heed people’s will
Give them the fill
Heal those hearts ill.

Victory to India; victory to Lokpal Bill; victory to Anna!

A Rethink on Abortions

The time has come for all to think-
A babe in womb is also life;
No one with conscience would dare kill,
Nor dismember a life with skill.

Do we all eat to vomit food?
Do we all drink to bring it out?
Why let a ‘seed’ grow in the womb,
And pare the ‘seedling’ fully grown?

O noble souls that heal all wounds!
You took your oath to save all lives;
Let conscience dictate all your ways;
Let not your hand cut string of life!

Life is most sacred when human;
You should not kill for merely fun;
When you can’t make one human part,
Why kill a human babe with art?

Should mankind turn a killer-race?
Should doctors serve, abetting crime?
No law can suppress one’s conscience,
That tells you what is right or wrong.

The unborn baby in the womb
Is also life, like me and you;
Why make its place of birth, a tomb?
The God of life won’t forgive you.

Abortion is Evil

Baby, are you gonna kill
Your baby in the womb, again?
Baby, can you stay happy,
Walking in this sinful lane?

Your choice, you wanna exercise
Means murder cold-blooded of child;
The guilt, ill-effects of this vice
Can haunt all life and are not mild.

Each child that’s formed is by God’s grace –
A priceless wealth that He bestows;
The womb is made to keep the race,
In proper number, in due course.

Good parenting begins in womb;
Abortion can’t give you mind’s peace;
The sacred womb that turns a tomb,
Can’t help you live your days in ease.

You knew what sex can sometimes bring –
The unborn child’s no life-less mass!
The death-knell for the child you ring –
A curse could befall you, Alas!

So, baby, do not abort, please;
You cannot go against God’s plan;
Accept the unborn child with peace
And God will add your earth’s life-span!

Mothers, must you kill again?
Fathers, must you abet crime?
Don’t hold your unborn with disdain;
Each child brings joy and blessings prime!

God gifts parents, children by lease,
And forms them without big disease;
Take heart and deliver them, please;
God will bless you and give you peace!

Might is right

It is always the fact that might is right
They will go on till the end to fight
They may do it with the speed of light
They have the wisdom and long sight

Small insects kill smaller one
Big also kill little one and go on
It is complete cycle of exploitation
Everybody looses in turn and in rotation

So if rich rule the scene then nothing wrong
Not all can be in race and come along
It is sheer coincidence that mighty rule
Otherwise not all the people are fool

Person with abundance can sustain losses
He may have no regret even if looses
This gives them little advantage
Rest all feel confined to cage

Once you are under domination you are bound to suffer
You may have no rights other than to differ
So poor remain poor and rich gets richer
Poor remain suppressed for times to come
Rich are dominating and always welcome

Corruption has engulfed poor and rich alike
Everybody is influenced and affected with hike
No one wants to remain as poor like
Rich too wants not to become poor and dislike

This is tendency that we feel pity for poor
We have seen them knocking the door
But it is the system that will remain forever
Even if God descends on earth it will be there

If you have same system with no discrimination
No one may work and develop alienation
They will feel free with passing of responsibility
Here comes then the end of clear and distinct ability

If you have system with loop holes anybody will escape
No one can restrict the temptation or put the cap
Only the poor fail to emerge for the want of resources
The powerful emerge and re-emerge with full force

The oppression part is little disturbing
No one can force or go on curbing
No one can be forced to undergo torture
Even God has made it very sure

The rich may have disliking for poor
Poor to may have tendency to show exit door
It has been clash of time for centuries and very old
No one can buy it or arguments can be sold

Lord may wish so for all His children
He may even grant the same blessing even
Yet that difference may remain and even if not
The needless wars might not have been fought

The human beings may create it to rule
They make use of all available tools
Rich may tackle poor and poor may tackle down trodden
As the system remains same with all the odds even

Entry To Heaven Will Be Declined

We outnumber the rich by billions to won,
Yet we the majority lose out on the fun,
The reason why we are being undone,
That answer we will now try to find.

While they live in splendour we live in hope,
They don't give a damn that we can't cope,
As we slide further down life's slippery slope,
They enjoy being wined and dined.

As they rake it in we're put on a freeze,
Spiralling prices everyone agrees,
While we struggle to get by they thrive on sleaze,
We must be out of our mind.

We are responsible for making them rich,
While their lives go by without a hitch,
Our lives are blighted by a tax filled ditch,
In corruption the prosperous are enshrined.

They expect the poor to stick each other in,
To emulate their fiddles we could never win,
As their tax affairs are embroiled in spin,
That's the way their system's designed.

All we can say is it isn't fair,
Humility among them like contrition is rare,
If truth be told there's none of them care,
That it's to poverty we are confined.

As their paymasters we must accept some blame,
Without us they wouldn't have any acclaim,
In fact it's to our eternal shame,
To this inequality we seem to be blind.

No human being is superior to another,
Yet this injustice we don't try to smother,
If it's true we're all sister and brother,
Then all wealth must be realigned.

Equality for everyone's not a lot to ask,
But first the corrupt must discard that mask,
That to them is too much of a task,
To sacrifice they are not inclined.

It is up to us to show them the way,
Unless we do it's ourselves we betray,
Their propaganda's made to lead us astray,

We contribute more than their income combined.
Unless we wake up and let them know,
Satan has got them all in tow,
You're a long time dead when it's down below,

A cruel beast

Corruption,
A vice so loved.
The voiceless,
Suffer in its hands.
The powerful,
Feast its fruits,
Corruption,
A vice so evil.

Land,
From it emanate.
Mansions,
Like mushroom they sprout.
Cars,
Like bees they swarm.
Corruption,
A vice so evil.

Poverty,
A son to it has become,
Who,
A by-product is,
Corruption,
A vice so evil.

Mercy,
To it is rubbish,
Prosperity,
In its mind constantly dwells.
Corruption,
A vice so evil.
