Audacity of Hope

When the recession of opportunities
Knock downs, towns and cities;
When the flood of tension
Hits alike, huts and mansions;
When anxiety tortures life’s moments
And men wallows in teary torments;
When life is anything but easy
And only head shrinkers seems busy

Then, oh! Men
It is time to stand still
As ancient hills
of indomitable will
Which braves
Fiery storms
And wintry chills:

And your audacious hope
Should strive to climb
steep recession’s slope,
tightly holding
divine grace’s rope

Till in boom
The flood of recession wanes
Clouds of opportunities rains
And mad lives again becomes sane.

Long live the Recession

The steel factory has
stopped to gorge iron ore
Coz due to recession
demand is no more.

Peace of barren mine
Undisturbed by a human kind
Beckons new birds and kine
To stay, populate and dine.

Flowers and Plants flourish
Younglings and saplings are nourished
The beheaded trees bloom
And crazy cuckoos croon

A young bird is building
a nest in the deserted house,
To please and cheer his
expectant spouse.

Far away a flamboyant bird twits,
“Mr.Recession is dead”
Other birds chirp
“Long live the Recession”.

Austan Goolsbee

This recession is the deepest in our lifetimes, the deepest since 1929. If you take the people thrown out of work in the 1982 recession, the 1991 recession, the 2001 recession, not only is this bigger, this is bigger than all of those combined.

In the immediate postwar years, the whole of Europe was in a recession. So first of all, it helped us step out of a recession; it gave a certain amount of speed to the economy. But that was the first step.

A Far Greater Threat

More of a threat to human existence than the economic recession is the ozone hole in the sky
That scientists claim is growing bigger as the years go by
Caused by carbon emissions that cause Global warming by experts we have been told
The climate is warming even in Lands known to be cold.

Compared to climate change economic recession as a problem seems small
To human existence on the Planet the greatest challenge of all
Is Global warming which we know is Worldwide
Due to our greed for material gain we've put Nature offside.

This World is for us to live in not for to destroy
For the future generation every young girl and boy
We are making life for them harder for our greed they must pay
I hope I am wrong in this though it does seem that way.

The economic recessions they come and they go
And after every recession the economy does grow
But Global warming to humanity is a far greater threat
As it does seem a matter of life and of death.

Regression Is the Term

Recession?
How about complete retreat,
From telling lies and deception?
Truth?
There is nothing like it!
However...
How is that introduced?
When none of that has ever been exposed!
Who will believe it?
When minds have been overdosed,
And eyes once shown...
Prefer to stay shut and closed!
Recession?
When something has been squeezed,
With nothing else from it to be released?
Regression is the term,
With a valued lesson from it to be learned.
And a life once lived to feed one's greed...
Shall never back to that kind of life
Will one return!
And that has been the diagnosis!
Accept it or not!
Delusions will still remain the choice,
If one should decide on getting a second opinion!
Or a third.
Or perhaps a fourth!
The truth comes without options.

Adverse Conditions

Recession.
Depression.
Suppression.
Oppr ession...
And,
Digression.

Which one of these,
Would those chronically hungry and homeless...
Under-employed and those countless unemployed,
Do you believe would accept as a direction...
That least affects their plight?
And...
Hold accountable,
For their adverse conditions with promises...
Over decades that have passed,
That they would prioritize the undoing of them.

'Uh...
Recession?
That seems easier to take when said.
Depression?
That sounds...
Well,
Depressing.
And some folks have been suppressed to digress,
With oppression most of their lives.
To take that away from them would be demoralizing.
I'm sure many of them would feel that way.
Since most of them are seen doing that to themselves,
On a daily basis.'

Pareidolia- A Way of Perception

A depressed Guy
Was staring at sky,
Abruptly a form popped up
Assembled from
The lonely wandering clouds,
Appeared to him
Weeping inconsolably;
Suddenly, the warm joy welled up from within,
And the same clouds colluded to carve out,
A laughing form.

(Pareidolia is the phenomenon of finding familiar images in random scenes, like faces in clouds or religious icons in root vegetables)

The Great Gambler

The Gambler stopped a monk
dwelling on spiritual plane,
And exclaimed, "Oh! monk
we both are exactly same
So I think we both of us
deserve equal name and fame.

Monk replied, "Gambler! I put
self not a pelf at stake,
And drink bitter poison
for God's sake

Only fool would say our
lives are same
For you a game is life
for me a life is game.''

A Faithful Lover

He alone struts with swagger fine,
To tame alike, humans and kine.

He breathes with us, with us he dines,
The cupbearer of life’s wine.

He feeds us all - the beings of clay,
As people raise chickens for prey.

We play in his gape, love in his lap,
Unaware of his bewitching trap.

He relishes our cries and sighs
While lurking in passionless skies.

He is the solid truth here
His shadows are kin and peers.

He is death, our faithful lover
Who leads us to peace bricked bower.

The Swan Song of a Falling Leaf

Now I am rocked in the air
By the winds of death and despair
Rushing to the burial ground
Whereon wait the ash-strewn mounds.

Not long ago I was a budding leaf
Sipping the wind of joy sans grief
I would laugh at yellow chaps
Greeted their fall with thunderous claps.

Hallucinating that I and pyramid are alike,
Which a storm of death would fail to strike.
But slowly time painted me yellow,
Not unlike my long lost fellows.

At last my blinded pride
Wayward coz of lack of guide
Sees that neither joy nor pain
But death is a life’s lasting gain.

A Flow of Love

Yeah!
Slow and Slow
ye stare
with eyes-
eyes innocent
as doe

Slow and Slow
you emptied
my cup
A cup
of woe

Slow and Slow
ye vanquished
my foes
hidden
inner foes

Slow and Slow
Ye pour
A wine of joy
in a goblet
with glow

Slow and Slow
Ye stamp
my cells
from
head to toe

Slow and slow
Ye weed out
ignorance
with your
divine hoe

Slow and slow
Ye open
petals
of my mind
for glorious show

Slow and slow
you rescued
me from claws
A dangerous
Maya's claws

Slow and slow
you weeded
out my flaws
habitual
mortal flaws

Slow and slow
Ye brought me
under yoke
A yoke
of divine law

Slow and slow
please come
in my life
with your
majestic flow

Because
Our separation
waiting on death row
our rendezvous
hot desert in a
storm of snow

Sub Prime Crisis

I asked to the God:
Why America is on a verge of bankruptcy?
Why all are facing a drought of currency?
Do you think anyone should bank on banks?
Which have sunk a people of all class and ranks.
What quake produced a tsunami of sub prime crisis?
Can you explain it to the men, rich in vices?
Which is a better pill, communism or capitalism?
Can you illumine it with a dose of pragmatism.
God replied:
Son! There is nothing in this world like crises;
These are hidden opportunities in disguises.
One prime lesson still you haven't succeed to learn,
One should never spend more than one earn.
In jungle of finance, if you are led by economists,
Your fortune will be devoured by a debt’s beast.
If you mortgage future joys for a moment's passions,
Holy odyssey will fail to reach a divine station.
I replied:
In future, I will never take any kind of loans,
So I don’t have to groan in a sea of moans.
Thank you for your advice, oh! Heavenly bard,
Right away I am tearing down damn credit cards.
Now I will share this poem with all my friends,
So they don’t face the crisis till their life ends.
Consider as a merit, an act of forwarding this email,
So like economist, I won’t be tormented in your jail.

The Furnace To The Flood

From the fiery furnace of life, we’re delivered by Jesus Christ.
When those fiery flames appear, our Lord God is always near,
There to lift us above that flame, all in the Power of His Name,
Protecting all of us from each fire, is our Lord’s heart’s desire.

As The Lord so desires to purify, in life’s fires, both you and I,
From a life of unrighteousness, fires allow iniquities to surface,
As we’re cleansed of old dross, In Christ’s power of The Cross,
To live for God and Jesus Christ, in our life as a living sacrifice.

When overwhelmed by a flood, we’re reminded of God’s Blood,
The Lord’s power at Calvary, continues in the life of you and me,
From the flood’s billowing waves, God reaches down and saves,
Saving us from the floods of life, is The Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

It is The Lord’s sustaining power, through any flood, any shower,
When the rains of life begin to pour, our Lord helps us to endure,
Holding us above the water’s flow, Christ desires to help us grow,
Through His Spirit dwelling inside, He’s with us in the highest tide.

Fires and floods, when they come, wherever in life, they are from,
Are used by God in this life, to conform believers to Jesus Christ,
Within the fire and the flood, we are molded by our Lord and God,
Being refined in the Image of Christ, to display The Lord in our life.

Denialitis

It is true.
We are not in a 'recession'.
That happened years ago...
When we digressed from truth!
Remember the days when having 'that'
Had been the most honorable possession?
What we are currently experiencing,
Can be termed, 'Denialitis'.
The feeling of being swept away into oblivion,
And given cocktails and hors d'oeuvres...
To enhance the setting that has been romanticized.
And as long as that is kept from being diagnosed...
Call what is going on anything!
They have perfected disguising lies!
Since recession does imply,
An intended return to something,
Eventually!
Allowing an endurance that completely depletes...
But with a dignity held to be admired.
And as long as that is believed...
A complete bleeding of a quality of life,
Becomes more acceptable.
Much like a 'Night Before Christmas' story!
Keeping those thrilled with an anticipation,
A myth will come to gift them with sweet treats.

The Obnoxious Ones

Recession?
From what use to be to what is now,
Is a permanent 'degression'.
There is no 'procession' back to retrieve beliefs.
To feel relieved with a breathing done freely.
Not this time around!

And it does not matter who helms or leads,
This drastic shift!
Those accustomed to traditions,
That allowed their procrastinations...
Will be lost in the midst of this swift quickness.
To find they are unable to adjust to it.
Like those who have been treated with disrespect.
As if they did not exist...
To dream and wish.

Recession?
From what use to be to what is now,
Is permanent.
And a lesson for those who oppose differences.
Never to recover from their dismissal as misfits!
By the very people they shunned.
Who view them now as the obnoxious ones,
Stung to cling...
Onto a painful sting,
By their own actions done to feel so real.

Ascension

What is being built over there?

'That's the new attraction for this coming year! '

Why do they need another one?
There are enough of these thrill rides as it is.

'This is just a rumor...
So please do not quote me!
But from what I understand,
This ride is going to produce
The greatest sensation of all!
Look at it!
Isn't it the biggest thing you've ever seen? '

Yes...
Indeed!
I wonder what they are going to call this one?

'They have started a contest already,
To name that steep climb.
A winner has been chosen.
They have selected to call that, Ascension! '

That's a great name!
What about the entire ride itself?

'Deep Recession!
And after that drop...
There is a tunnel to take the people,
Through scenes of lifestyles flashing by...
Before they all come to a stop.
Once there they are given smelling salts!
The folks behind this,
Have had this figured out for some time!
Every detail of it! '

Wow!
I know that is going to be the rage,
This year!
'Deep Recession'?
That thing is higher than the Empire State Building!
That dropp is going to have people off their feet,
For a very long time!

'Oh...
You know it!
They are counting on it!
And check this out!
I'm told the ride is going to be free for everyone! '

You're kidding?

'Not at all!
I know a few folks who have already applied,
To become operators!
AND for top pay! '

What about you?
Why don't you apply?

'Ive been watching this being built for so long.
I've been trying to find a way to sell 'puke' bags,
With my name on it 'before' people even see this thing!
Or...
Find a double purpose for it!
Maybe insulate it to carry their eyeballs? !
I don't know.
But I want it to be original! '

When is it due to open for the public?

'Very soon!
I've heard they want it completed before the Spring! '

Before the Spring?
That's right around the corner!

'I know!
And I have yet to come up with a design! '

Fountain

O gushing crescendo
Thy silent stealth
A cool and misty
Watery wealth
Oh glorious liberty,
Down the rocky graves
So calm yet spritely
Bright and brave

My sacred wash
My life my dreams
O swelling thoughts
And wholesome themes
O blissful luxuries,
By thy side
When melancholy
Or in pensive sights

My head
Thou washeth
In baptism clean
My sins of Adam
And of Eve
That original sin
That blast
A cast to loosen
To secure
a placeof reason
That paradise
Thy heaven

O you fountain of love
Elemental divine
Lodged in your mystical deep ravines
The knowledge, the truth,
The unfinished period falls
No voice be hushed,
No life treads deep
In true silence
And sleep profound
As I in childhood sweetly sleep
Untroubled where I lay
Beside thee
Above the vaulted skies
