The End of Ernie Lowe

The rain dripped down on my overcoat
As I walked beneath the trees,
An avenue filled with poplars, grim,
And dark, with an icy breeze,
I'd walked this way a million times
As a child, and a younger man,
But this could well be the final time
As I went to hold his hand!

I'd always called him Uncle Ern
From a time that I don't know when,
He'd carried me on his shoulders since
I was just a squalling bairn,
He'd kicked a ball in the park with me,
Was there to fly a kite,
But now that big, old generous man
Had come to his own midnight!

Ern was the one to church me, he'd
Done more than my parents would,
He took me along to evensong
And sang, as best as he could,
He had a rumbling baritone
That rattled the wooden pews,
And smiled at me in the choir there
As the vicar collected the dues.

I grew at length, but I sought him out
Whenever I'd need advice,
He'd say: ‘I'll give you a tip or two,
But I'm not going to tell you twice! '
Then he'd laugh, a raucous, bubbling sound
That would put my fears to rest,
And we'd share a pint at the ‘King and Crown',
And I knew I was more than blessed.

But life went on and I lost my faith
In the light of discovery,
For science placed the world of the Lord
Beyond recovery,
Though I never said a word to him,
For his faith was strong and sure,
And I would do nothing to hurt him now
That his years came up, four score!

I rapped on the wooden panels of
The door with the painted shell,
And shortly a nurse had let me in,
She muttered: ‘It's just as well!
He's called for you for an hour or so,
There won't be too long to wait,
The cancer's eating his very heart
And his mind's in a terrible state.'

He lay, propped up on a pillow there,
I felt a tear at my eye,
He waved his hand: ‘Don't worry lad,
I don't want to see you cry!
This is only the first goodbye,
I'll see you again, no fear,
When your time is up from this empty cup
I'll be waiting for you, there! '

I thought: ‘You're fooling yourself, old man! '
But stood, and I bit my tongue,
All that we face is the darkness once
This life that we know has gone!
But he seemed happy, and mentioned Grace,
His wife of so long ago,
‘I'd forgo heaven to see her face,
I would, ' said Ernie Lowe.

I shook my head; she'd been gone so long
That I'd never seen her face,
But here in his final moments, all
Of his thoughts had turned to Grace.
Then like some shadowed and ghostly form
A woman was there, at his bed,
Who whispered: ‘Ernie, it's time to go! '
…..When I looked again, he was dead!

Sons Faith, Mothers Pride And Joy

She stood looking down into the empty
Ground where her son would find his resting place.
Recalling her pride and joy, as he grew up
From a baby boy.
How he dreamt of things to come
As he played out in the sun
How he would walk with his head held high
And how she stood by his side.

He would always talk of how
he was destined to help others
And how his life would change
For every step had been pre-arranged.
He talked of things to come
And how it would be done.

He would say: there are many of us
Destined for greatness
but in different kinds of ways.
We just have to thank GOD and
get down on our knees and pray.

Many times I would ask: son! Why do you talk so!
And he would reply: many things we do not know.
But everything will be revealed in its
Proper time and place, and we will be blessed
By the LORDS holy grace.

The changes will not be world wide, and will
Be done a little at a time.
The same as GOD made everything in six days
And on the seventh he rested
So will our faith be tested.
You had always said that there are three things
In life. HOPE, FAITH, AND LOVE.
And one cannot exist without the other two
This was taught to me by you.
You had shown me the power and strength
In HOPE, FAITH, AND LOVE
By your belief in GOD above.
You have made me who I am today
And I thank GOD every day.

Some may see the glass as half full
And some may see it as half empty
I see it as a life of plenty.
You was put here as my mother to teach.
And I was put here as your son to learn.
And in my mind your lessons did burn.

And when it’s time for me to go
In your heart you will know
That I was destined to roam these skies
And to touch the heart of man
In every way that I can.

She recalled the words that he had said to her.
Mother! Why do you worry so?
You have instilled in me FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE
In my heart- and in CHRIST I’ve become a big part.

As they brought the casket to his final resting place
Everyone stood in amazement and awe
To what they had just saw.
she pulled back her shoulders and with
A smile on her face, she nodded to the priest
To give the last rites.

She stood with pride as they lowered the casket
Into the ground.
She stood with pride without making a sound.
She knew he was where he was destined to be
As the beautiful spirit flying free.
Everyone felt a chill, and they all looked around.
For they all knew “ he was heaven bound”.

Man Who Sold The World

We passed upon the stairs,
We spoke of was and when
Although I wasnt there
He said I was his friend
Which came as a surprise
I spoke into his eyes -- I thought you died alone
A long long time ago
Oh no, not me,
We never lost control,
Youre face to face,
With the man who sold the world
I laughed and shook his hand,
I made my way back home,
I searched for form and land,
Years and years I roamed,
I gazed a gazely stare,
We walked a million hills -- I must have died alone,
A long long time ago.
Who knows, not me,
I never lost control,
Youre face, to face,
With the man who sold the world.

The Rapture Of The Righteous

My day began like any day without a single care,
Yet in my thoughts I had to pray, for I became aware...
My life had changed, this much I knew, for something made me shake
And this effect just grew and grew until a great earthquake!
Where was my wife? Where was my son? The streets had split in two!
I knew right then I had to run! Where to? I had no clue.
The chaos led to screams and screams as buildings crumbled down
And in the midst of these extremes, a voice I couldn't drown...

'You had been warned a long, long time and it has happened now.'
My life no longer worth a dime because of it somehow...
Then I saw people vapourise, completely disappear!
So many gone before my eyes that I was filled with fear...
The voice declared, 'The ones you love have both been caught away,
The Lord has called them up above, today, this very day! '
The unsaved sought the Christians left, to hold on tight then flee,
They stayed on Earth and felt bereft when God did not agree!

The unsaved wept, right where they were, as if they had no worth,
While Christians left behind a blur as witness to the Earth...
But then the voice called out my name, my body thus obeyed,
I left then saw a holy flame, such that I was afraid...
But wait, it was the Saviour's face! The King of Calvary!
The Lord who died to grant me grace reached out His hand to me...
Lost in that moment for a while, all I could do was kneel...
As I looked up, I saw Christ smile and knew these things were real.

Although I wept for lost Mankind, I knew my sins were waived...
I left the sinful Earth behind, for faith meant I was saved!
I prayed they'd read the Gospel text for Gentile and for Jew...
Christ told me what would happen next, but what more could I do?
Christ led me gently by the hand, explaining verse by verse,
Foretelling what the Lord had planned, before the world got worse!
My family were spared today, my wife, my son and I...
God's Revelations paved the way, in the twinkling of an eye!

Who Was This Man?

01/05/11

They didn’t know where he came from
No information could be found.
He just arrived - in the poor part of town.
They said he would appear when someone
Needed a hand, it was something
they could not understand.

Now! People’s faith was failing and
Everything seemed to be going wrong
But he would lift them up and
Encouraged them to be strong.
He was a bit different from
the others in the town.
Always with a hood, and had it pulled down.

The church was losing parishioners
And they had for quite some time.
Their faith was strong, but their minds were blind.
They needed something to touch the heart of man
Something that- could give a helping hand.

As the clergy thought about how
and what they could do.
This hooded man was looking for something too.

There was a family of eight who was
Being given a dispossess, he had to help them out
He knew he could not rest.

Parents with six children and not a bite to eat
To them a bag of potato chips, was really quite a treat.
He printed up circulars telling of their plight.
Asking the community to stand up and fight.
He created a meeting at the neighborhood church
He knew that it would get better
For it could not get much worse.

The church had not known of this meeting
When the people started to arrive.
This was the first time that people had to wait in line.

The preacher asked a parishioner:
What is this all about?
She then showed him the circular of this family s plight.
He then had a strange feeling, and his heart jumped with delight.

His prayers were being answered in a strange and blessed way.
He fell to his knees and he began to pray.
The people filled up the donation boxes
Until they overflowed, he had to call for some help
For it was a heavy load.

From the corner of his eye- he saw a figure
Blocking the entrance door,
And with a hood pulled down low.
It was a strange sight- it truly was a show.

He walked down the aisle to the preacher man
Looked up - then shook his hand.
He turned to the congregation and said:

HAVE FAITH IN ALL YOU DO
YOU CALLED OUT MY NAME AND I’VE
COME TO HELP YOU.

He took off his hood and just an aura of light was there
Then he vanished as quick as he appeared.

The Last Time I Saw Her

The last time I saw her face, her eyes were bathed in starlight and her hair hung long
The last time she spoke to me, her lips were like the scented flowers inside a rain-drenched forest
But that was so long ago that I can scarcely feel the way I felt before
And if time could heal the wounds, I would tear the threads away that I might bleed some more
The last time I walked with her
Her laughter was the steeple bells
That ring to greet the morning sun
A voice that called to everyone
To love the ground she walked upon
Those were good day
The last time I held her hand, her touch was autumn, spring and summer, and winter too
The last time I let go of her, she walked a way into the night
I lost her in the misty streets, a thousand months, a thousand miles
When other lips will kiss her eyes
A million miles beyond the moon, thats where she is
But that was so long ago that I can scarcely feel the way I felt before
And if time could heal the wounds, I would tear the threads away that I might bleed some more
The last time I saw her face, her eyes were bathed in starlight and she walked alone
The last time she kissed my cheek
Her lips were like the wilted leaves
Upon the autumn covered hills
Resting on the frozen ground
The seeds of love lie cold and still
Beneath a battered marking stone
It lies forgotten

Love Rekindled

I fondly remember when I first saw you-
It was at that Restaurant called West View.
Our parents had chosen the venue.
And as I looked over the menu,

You sauntered in much in style
Wearing a disarming smile.
In your clear gaze I saw an honest man,
And knew in a blink it was a divine plan.

In no time we were man and woman.
every moment felt like heaven.
Oh yes, we had our tiffs and fights,
But we made up by the night

In time children came,
Life after was not the same.
Tired when I slipped into the sheets,
You would tenderly message my cold feet.

Soon work took over our lives.
I was busy being a working mom and wife.
Before we knew children flew the nest,
And I was filled with unrest.

I wanted to reconnect,
But you were too busy on the internet.
Now there was no romance,
Had it slipped by chance?

Seeing the young celebrate Valentine,
I too coaxed you to take me out to dine.
We went to the same place,
Where we had met by God’s grace.

We laughed and talked,
And later hand in hand walked.
Night was chilly,
we felt young and silly.

I think that night,
Everything again felt right.
After long I felt light
And my heart soared like a kite.

Next day though you came home late,
You shyly asked will you come on a date.

Long, Long Way To Go

You held my hand and then you slipped away
And I may never see your face again
So tell me how do to fill the emptiness inside
Without love, what is life?
And anyone who knew us both can see
We always were the better part of me
I never wanted to be this free
All this pain, does it go away?
Then every time I turn around
And youre nowhere to be found
I know I got a long, long way to go
Before I can say goodbye to you
Oh, I got a long, long way to go
Before I can say goodbye to all I ever knew
To you, to you
From memory, there is no hiding place
Turn on the tv and I see you there
In every crowd theres always someone with your face
Everywhere, trying not to care
Then every time I turn around
And youre nowhere to be found
I know I got a long, long way to go
Before I can say goodbye to you
Oh, I got a long, long way to go
Before I can say goodbye to all I ever knew
To you, I wish you everythin
And all the best that life can bring
I only hope you think of me sometimes, oh
And even though I feel the pain
I know that I will love again
The time will come, oh, and Ill move on
I got a long, long way to go
Before I can say goodbye to you
Oh, I got a long, long way to go, got a long way to go
Before I can say goodbye, before I say goodbye
To all I ever knew, to all I ever knew
I got a long, I got a long, long way to go, long way to go
Before I can say, before I say, goodbye to you
Say goodbye, say goodbye
Oh, I got a long, long way to go
Before I can say goodbye to all I ever knew
Girl, I wish you the best I know, oh and all of the rest, to you
I got a long, long way to go
Before I can say goodbye to you

And You Don’t Remember Me

I sat on the park bench
pen and notebook in hand.
I watched all the people
as they passed on by.
I wondered how in life
each one of them had fared
with their happiness
and their sorrows.
I looked for inspiration
for something to write.

She looked at me and smiled,
I smiled back
thinking that was that.
“You don’t remember me? ”
She said and sat down.
I looked at her again
as memories swirled
around in my mind.
She was right
I didn’t remember her

Her hair was mousey colour
with flecks of grey
starting to appear here and there.
There were thick lines
across her forehead,
crow feet lines
near the corners of her eyes.
The corners of her mouth
drooped just slightly.

Her blues eyes were striking
and I knew I had seen them before,
but they were with a younger face
a long time ago.
A face that lit up
whenever she spoke.
“You still don’t remember me? ”
She asked once again.

I shook my head,
but unfortunately, I did.
I could remember
all the beauty
she had had in her youth,
before time had ravaged her
and taken away her beauty
and her youth.
She looked so sad.

I wanted to reach out
like I always wanted to,
but something deep inside,
a little voice you could call it,
kept telling me no.
My urge to hold her
was trying to win out,
but I couldn’t do it.
She was no longer
a part of my life.

All she was now
was a memory I clung to,
a memory of my youth
so long, long ago.
With notebook and pen,
I smiled and bit her farewell.
I whispered her name
as I said a last goodbye.
I didn’t look back
or I would have looked back with regret.
She was a past,
something none of us can ever relive.

Psalm 77 part 1

Melancholy assaulting, and hope prevailing.

To God I cried with mournful voice,
I sought his gracious ear,
In the sad day when troubles rose,
And filled the night with fear.

Sad were my days, and dark my nights,
My soul refused relief;
I thought on God the just and wise,
But thoughts increased my grief.

Still I complained, and still oppressed,
My heart began to break;
My God, thy wrath forbade my rest,
And kept my eyes awake.

My overwhelming sorrows grew,
Till I could speak no more;
Then I within myself withdrew,
And called thy judgments o'er.

I called back years and ancient times
When I beheld thy face;
My spirit searched for secret crimes
That might withhold thy grace.

I called thy mercies to my mind
Which I enjoyed before;
And will the Lord no more be kind?
His face appear no more?

Will he for ever cast me off?
His promise ever fail?
Has he forgot his tender love?
Shall anger still prevail?

But I forbid this hopeless thought;
This dark, despairing frame,
Rememb'ring what thy hand hath wrought;
Thy hand is still the same.

I'll think again of all thy ways,
And talk thy wonders o'er;
Thy wonders of recovering grace,
When flesh could hope no more.

Grace dwells with justice on the throne;
And men that love thy word
Have in thy sanctuary known
The counsels of the Lord.

The Day That Time Would Stop!

The passageway was longer than he thought
He would have said,
It seemed to go forever,
But the words stayed in his head.
That drumming in his ears was surely
Just the lack of sound,
And could it be, he floated,
With his feet just off the ground?

The ambulance had called for him at just
On half past three,
He'd told his wife: ‘Don't bother,
It will go away, you'll see! '
His wife was more determined than she'd
Ever been before,
She dialled up on her mobile
And she waved him, at the door.

‘It's all just fuss and bother, this, ' he thought,
And flushed quite red,
The fellow in the ambulance
Looked grim, and shook his head.
He tried to give him oxygen, then
Called out to his mate:
‘You'd better put your foot down,
Or we might be there too late! '

He felt the lurch of speed, and heard the
Sirens start to wail,
He only felt embarrassment,
‘Such fuss! Beyond the pale! '
But then the light had faded in the
Middle of the day,
And that was when he found himself
Deep in that passageway!

The light became much brighter, at the end
He saw a door,
It slowly started opening,
He couldn't see much more,
But then he floated through it, standing
Stark within this room
Filled wall to wall with flowers that
Had just begun to bloom!

He stood there for a moment, he could not
Believe his eyes,
A crowd of happy people jumped
On out, and yelled: ‘Surprise! '
Then streamers and balloons appeared
And tangled round his feet,
He stared at them in wonder as
His heart had ceased to beat!

His father stood there grinning, he had died
Before his time
While his mother wiped a tear away,
She'd left when he was nine,
And all the aunts and uncles from
His distant memories,
Now stood and charged a glass to him,
And smiled, and shouted: ‘Cheers! '

‘He doesn't know what's happened, give him time, '
Said Uncle Ron,
‘We're just so glad to see you - My!
The weight that you've put on!
You must have seen it coming, all
That pain before you drop;
It's common to us all, you know,
The Day that Time would Stop! '

He paused to think about his wife, and
Wondered if she cried,
Or simply shrugged her shoulders when
She heard that he had died,
The heart that he no longer had
He knew would never mend;
He stood erect and dignified -
A funeral to attend!

The Poem Pals

When I woke up, I looked outside and what a sight I saw
There was no place for them to hide near to my neighbour's door.
The Poem Pals were back again! With poems in their hands
That God has sent out to all men and women in His lands...

When they saw me, they waved hello! I waved back and made tea.
I asked them in to get to know what was the mystery...
They told me straight, 'He's busy now, his T.V.'s on the blink!
And so us guys he won't allow, he's hardly time to think...'

So off I went and they went, too, 'Good luck! ' they said and smiled.
The problem sorted, he said, 'Phew! ' and calmed down, now quite mild.
I told him of the Poem Pals, 'They visit me as well,
They're full of wonders, full of tales, what stories they could tell! '

'You see them, too? ' He was amazed! 'Oh, yes, they're all my friends! '
'Thank God for that! ' he quickly praised, with no need for pretence!
They stood in line, the first one in, his poem now to share,
So that my neighbour could begin to make the world aware...

The poem penned, we watched him leave with smiles upon his face!
Another poem to receive from God above by grace.
The second guy came with his verse, as proud as proud could be,
With extra time he could rehearse, reciting perfectly...

The third guy ran inside at last, determined to be heard,
I'd never seen him run so fast, now he could read each word!
The fourth guy walked in, bid good day explaining what to write
And then when done, he walked away, his face a pure delight!

The fifth guy was hilarious, his poem made us laugh!
Not one of us stayed serious as he walked down the path.
The sixth guy walked in bold as brass, saluted us in turn,
As if he thought we were first class, with nothing left to learn...

The last guy heaved a long, long sigh... for sad his poem was.
It told why Jesus had to die upon the cruel cross...
His poem was the best of all, of that there was no doubt.
It shared the Gospel by Saint Paul, who loved the Lord throughout.

So finally, we said goodbye, the Poem Pals all gone...
My neighbour's spirit soaring high, because God's light had shone.
The Poem Pals would call again, so poets could be blessed,
In time, to be Fishers of Men, who seek to do their best...

Saint Or Death?

i see him coming down the road
in his hand a sickle he holds.
he is dressed in a long black robe
torn and tattered and mighty old.
he is coming with a smile upon his face
his arms outstretched in an unfriendly embrace.
there is blood dripping from his sickle
and for your life, it's not worth a plumb nickel.

she started to scream in horror and dismay.
why are you here? please go away!

HE SAID: i can not leave for i have come for you
to GOD and life, you was untrue.
you turned your back on your family
when they tried to help you the most.
you went to church and denied the HOST.
you claimed that everything in your life was taken away
and to GOD you would not pray.
you stormed out of church with bitterness in your heart
grabbed your bible and tore it apart.
you said that GOD had taken your child
and living was not worth while.
YOU TOLD GOD:
this child of mine was of young age
you took, and put him into his final stage.
WHAT DID MY CHILD DO? WHY DID YOU TAKE HIM AWAY?
he left the house to go and play.
why did'nt you stop the car that ran him down?
the man did'nt live here, he was from out of town.

a hit and run driver is what they said
they still have'nt caught him, of which i dread.
they say he left the country that very day
changed his passport and ran away.

SHE TURNED TO THE GRIM REAPER AND SAID!
so if you come to take me away, with my child i will stay.

HE SAID: the child is in heaven now, sitting up
there with a golden crown.
he is playing with all the boys and girls
who have left this earthly world.
you will not see him, for you have 'DENIED GOD'
and lost the faith that you had
which makes your child very sad.

your heart was once full of compassion
helping others and taking action.
now your heart is as cold as can be.
you won't see your son until you're set free.
look at all the family and friends here on earth
you're still young and you could give birth.
accept the fact that your son is gone
but his memory will linger on.
he is with you every step of the way
and there's a message that he wants to say:
mother! i am happy here! there is no sickness, no hate,
no time, just faith.
all of us children are here with wings
and to us, that's a good thing.
become the person that you was meant to be.
living in peace and harmony.
as the vision of her son dissappeared
a warmth filled her every pore
and the bitterness she had no more.
she told him:
i do not want to go with you.
there are so many things that i have to do.
the LORD is giving me another chance
to bring another life into this world
and that it'll be a baby girl.
so preparations i must make, for i have so much at stake.
are you really the shadow of death?
or just a spirit that was sent for a test.?

he smiled and turned and walked away
but in her mind, he will stay.

The Steps Of Mary

She was truly blessed at a very young age
To carry our lord and was told his name.
He will be called Jesus and bring salvation to the world
Stories of his birth will be told to every boy and girl.
They will praise his holy name
And their lives will forever change.

When Joseph found out that his
betrothed was with child, and that it wasn’t his.
He decided a quite divorce he would give.

But an angel came to him that night
And told him that it was the son of god
That she would bear.
And to wipe away all his fears.

His faith and belief so strong in god
And what the angel had said
That he put his worries to bed.

She decided to spend some time with
her cousin, who was also with child
Who she had not seen in quite a while.

As she walked into the house
Elizabeth s child kicked with joy
For this was the saviors little boy.
Long before either of their births
The paths had been set, John would
Lead the way, and followers he would get.

He told of the birth of the messiah to all around
As the people listened without making a sound.
He baptized all with water
As this was the lords words and his order.

As Jesus preached throughout the land
Mary watched with a fearful stand.
For she knew in her heart, that this would be
The beginning of man kinds new start.

She knew that her child would be taken away
And to the lord she did pray.
The lord strengthened her heart and her faith
For what was to come, for he was sent down
By his father “ his begotten son”.

The times that lied ahead
Of her fears she would overcome.
And let gods will be done.

Now! No one knew the heartache and pain
That Mary and Joseph would go thru
To see their earthly son tortured and to be put to death
This was the part that they did regret.
But their faith so strong in god above
That they would give up the child that they loved.

Mother Mary ! You had traveled the road
That god had set for you
And this is something that we all must do.
The difference is that we must travel this road
With blind faith, for in our lives, we can not wait.

Give us the strength that god bestowed upon you
So that in our lives we can follow thru.

Strangers in Time

I'll ever remember the day she left
In a storm, I was so unkind,
I'd hurled the dinner right over her head
At the wall, and it blew her mind!
‘That's it! ' she muttered, and grabbed her bag
Went sailing out of the door,
With never a backward glance at me
Or our lives, forever more!

I sat for a week, just waited, thinking
Soon she'll be coming home,
Sat in the dark and hated, loved,
Then thought I'd better atone,
So I took to the streets, her mother's house
But of her, there wasn't a trace,
I tried her sister and brother's homes
And they slammed the door in my face.

Louise had walked right out of my life
And she wouldn't be coming back,
My world collapsed in a fit of tears
But I had to accept the fact,
I walked unthinking into the road,
Was hit by the local bus,
I vaguely remember the ambulance bell
And waking up in a truss.

There was something odd in that hospital,
I couldn't quite pin it down,
The ward was the long, old-fashioned sort
In a seedy part of town,
I noticed the nurse's uniforms
Were odd, like they used to wear
Back in the fifties, as a kid
I'd had tonsillitis there.

There was more than plenty of time to think
And I went back through my life,
Went back to every decision I'd made
Right up to losing my wife,
If I'd just done this, or just said that
I'd have taken a different tack,
So many ways I'd mishandled things
With no chance of going back.

And there, behind each second of time
Was a choice that we'd have to make,
Two paths had always been open to us
What path did the other path take?
Could there be a parallel universe
Where the other half of me,
Had made those different decisions,
Was alive, but happy and free?

It took three months for my wounds to heal
Then I found myself in the street,
It wasn't the town I remembered, though,
It had changed, perceptively,
And I was feeling much younger
So much fitter than before,
A glimpse of my face in a mirror, caught
And shocked me to the core!

I went to the university
And there I saw Louise,
Just as I'd seen her years before
And she waved and smiled at me,
Or I thought she did, but she passed me by
Went up to another man,
Kissed him there in the quad, and then
Walked off with him, hand in hand.

I was back in a parallel universe
Before she'd become my wife,
And now I remembered, Andy Cole
Had caused me a lot of strife,
We'd both gone after the same Louise
In the end, she'd chosen me,
But not before he had done with her,
Walked off, and set her free.

I followed them at a distance to
The place where they shared a flat,
I noticed she wore a wedding ring
And I thought that that was that!
I'd come too late in this scheme of things
That had taken another line,
I walked by her, but she knew me not,
We were simply strangers in time.

Then suddenly I was back at home
And closing the old front door,
I could smell Louise's cooking, it
Was a dish I'd come to abhor,
I took my place at the table and
She handed me the plate,
I said, ‘It smells delicious, dear! '
I'm the master of my fate!

The Man Who Sold The World (live, 1979-12-15: Saturday Night Live)

We passed upon the stair, we spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there, he said I was his friend
Which came as some surprise I spoke into his eyes
I thought you died alone, a long long time ago
Oh no, not me
I never lost control
You're face to face
With The Man Who Sold The World
I laughed and shook his hand, and made my way back home
I searched for form and land, for years and years I roamed
I gazed a gazely stare at all the millions here
We must have died along, a long long time ago
Who knows? not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the Man who Sold the World
Who knows? not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the Man who Sold the World

Can You Smell The Rain…This Is A True Story

A child was premature
Only after 24 weeks her mother gave birth
She was only 12 inches long
When she came into this world

Her mother and father
Were waiting for news
And as always
Doctors filled them with gloom

She will not live for very long
And if she does complications
Will unfold

She will be blind
She will be deaf
She will be retarded
She has not fully developed yet

Tears abashed as she cried in pain
Both parents distraught
At their tiny daughters plight

They said their prayers
They had their faith
The asked the lord
To watch over her

She survived 2 months
She was breathing still
They were fianaly able to hold her
Small tiny body in their arms
But still the Doctors said
She would not live long

And each time her parents
Would cry once more
This can't be true
She's breathing still

They said their prayers
They had their faith
The asked the lord
To watch over her

Two more months
Had passed on by
And still she breathed
And still she was alive

But alas the Doctors did say
She will not survive
Another day

Distraught once again
Her parents were sad
And once again they
Bowed their heads

They said their prayers
They had their faith
The asked the lord
To watch over her

Now five years on
She runs and plays
And does everything
A little girl does

And then one day
While out on a trip
With her loved ones
Her family and friends

She was chatting to mom
About things from the day
Of playing with friends
And her family

When suddenly she paused
And said out loud
Can you smell that?

Her mother concerned
Looked up to the sky
It was just about
To rain outside

She nodded to her
And said with a smile
Why yes little one
I can smell the rain

But shaking her head
She said no not that
Can't you smell that?

Puzzled she smiled
As she shook her head
Why yes my dear child
It's about to rain

Her daughter just smiled
And shook her head
Then patted her shoulders
And said out loud
It smells like him! ! !

Then her mother just wept
As her father smiled
And realized she was
Talking about God

The rain had stopped
The sun came out
She yelled with glee
I want to go play

She hugged her mom
Smiled at her dad
Its ok mom
It was just only God
Then ran off to play

Waiting For The Day

It was only for a fight
That I asked you to come in
But you brought me tumbling down
And the walls came caving in
Wont you help me dry my tears
Help me roll away the years
Then perhaps I will forgive you
And the hurt will disappear
But in a fit of blind arrogance
You stood up and walked away
If youd given me half a chance
Ill be waiting for the day
For the day that you come back to me
Come on back to me
You come back to me
So forget the long goodbye
You never really tried
Threw the keys down on the table
Youve got your sense of pride
Then you had to tell the world
Your story must be heard
Slammed the door behind you
Without a single word
But in a fit of blind arrogance
You stood up and walked away
The day that you come back to me
Come on back to me
You come back to me
Come back to me
You come back to me
No I never had a single thought in my head
No I never had a single thought
Oh for the day that you come back to me
Come on back to me
You come back to me
Come on back to me
You could be my life long friend
You could be the light of dawn
You could keep me close at hand
You could keep me safe and warm
I will be your fantasy
If you come and stay with me
I will try to give you all
Waiting for the night to fall
You could be the light of day
You could be my life long friend
You could keep me close at hand
Waiting for the day to end
I will be your fantasy
If you come and stay with me
I will try to give my all
Waiting for the night to fall
